Clone SD card (swap+ext+fat)?

Hi, I intend to upgrade my sd card so i need to clone the sd card, including "unseen" partitions for a2sd. is there any way to do it?
Code:
dd if=/dev/sdX of=/home/user/sd_backup.img
try that...
That is only true if he intends to copy over the contents to another card of the same volume.
Instead, he should copy over each of the /dev/sd? to another file, whilst noting the filesystem, and remount that via loop should he need to restore files.
When I replaced my sd card I simply did a BART backup, moved everything off the old sd card, and re-partitioned it to recover the apps2sd partition.
I then inserted the new card, partitioned it and did a bart restore, worked perfectly

Click to collapse
clone it from your PC using linux (a LiveCD will do it)
or install this if you're running Windows: http://www.fs-driver.org/
thanks for all suggestion, i'll try bart backup and see how it goes

[Q] Custom ROM and New SD Card

Howdy! I wanted to swap over my SD card which is a sandisk class 2 4GB which is partioned for my custom ROM. I'm not too sure what will happen if I partion the new one? I was wondering if I would have to reinstall the ROM if I stuck it in my droid?
On a sort of spin-off. How do I restore my 4GB SD card to stock without partion. (Would I lose the ability to use my ROM if I partition it again after clean partition?)
No need to reinstall ROM. If you have apps on the SD card, then you'll have to reinstall them.
Edit: you have many ways to remove partitions from the SD card. Do you use Windows and have a card reader? If yes you can delete the partitions in Disk management.

[Q] Partitioning SD card the easy way

Hi,
I'm willing to partition my SD card so I can use link2SD . I have already searched the web but they all make it complicated for unreasonable causes , so I have been wondering if I could just take out my SD card . Then insert it in a card reader . Backup my ROM files and all the things in that SD using copy and paste functionality in W8 -lol- . Format the card and partitioning it using the default partitioning tool in windows then restore my copied files again . Avoiding all these unnecessary installation of minitool and busybox ..etc.
is that going to work ? if yes , what format should I use for both partitions
Note: I'm using doomlord kernel ICS v03 and XPlaystation v13 ROM.

Problem with Micro SD card on CFW custom roms

Hi
When I had MIUI (any version) I was able to use my micro SD card, all was good, but when I installed any custom rom like Pixel Experience, HavocOS and others, the phone say "theres is a problem with the SD CARD, please format to use" ok, I saved all my files on my pc because with a card reader it works fine, I've put inside the card on my phone again, I select the option to format, and after that, it keeps asking to format and I can't use it ): help?
ive only had problems with sd cards on resurection remix. every other rom worked. iassume you have a sandisk. maybe download their software on their site and format it that way. no gurantees it might fix it though.
Thread moved to Q&A
I flash couple days ago Bootleggers Rom and didnt have problem with SD card ,but after installing custom Kernel, I was forced to format SD card and then my problems begin. after format SD card to be able to use it in ROM, I lost option to use it in TWRP, because ROM use one TWRP use another type of format for SD card.. so,be careful what you install and flash..
