is there an gps + cf + batttery - xda IIs - General Accessories

is there an expansion jacket for the xda IIs, which includes the following:
CF SLOT
GPS
extended battery
thank you

backpack
you can get a backpack for the xda2 from expansys.co.uk it has cf, ext battery and vga output i got one it's very good and reasonable priced to!!

Thats not the same model though. The XDA IIs seems to get confused with the II. It is really built on XDA III specs. So I am not sure if the XDA II backpack will work on the XDA III.

It is impossible to connect backpack of the XDAII to a XDAIII. The XDAIII does not have the necessary connector.

i take it there is nothing oput just yet for the mda II/ xda IIs???

xdaIIs and mdaII are 2 different hardware platforms
with mdaII you can get a backpack with CF, tvout, monitor out extre battery
the only pocketpc i've seen with onboard gps is the mio and it dont have phone

XDAII powered car mount Arkon CM532

t'ello all....
I have just bought an arkon CM532 with xda2 adaptor. This seems to do the job as a hands free kit, with the usual bugs of noisy GPRS feedback etc, but I can live with that....BUT - I need a GPS ariel that will plug into the cradle and thus the xda2.....I have tomtom software ready to go, but I dont really want a bluetooth GPS, as we all know, bluetooth and xda = hell.
Any ideas?????
Would this work from ebay?

No idea where you got the idea that BlueTooth GPS and the XDA2 are incompatible - mine worked fine after the first O2 update was applied...
As long as you get the right cable it should be fine.
Bluetooth is more convenient, as you only need the adaptor for charging, and most journeys take less than the GPS battery life.
I use a Pretec Bluetooth GPS I bought from eBay,
works fine.
its not so much the bluetooth that puts me off, more the fact that the arkon has the ability to charge a gps receiver that is connected to it via the RJ11 socket, and I want to know which gps reciever has this RJ11 connector. Otherwise, if I go the bluetooth route, I will have 2 cigarette adapators, and only 1 cigrette lighter socket! Plus, ill forget to charge the receiver too.....
Are you sure you have a Arkon CM532 - mine has no RJ11 sockets anywhere!
What it does have are two power-only USB ports on the base - either side of the regular 5v input socket - and a 5v output on the side which feeds my Socket GPS.
I can also recommend sticky-backed velcro as a fastening medium for attaching the GPS to the side-arm of the Akron.
That said, I really dislike the Arkon - I'd much rather a dedicated until like the one made by CarComm. However, the only UK distributor are idiots.

hi guys
i have this and its crap you cant hear on the speaker because of the interference from the phone i use it without the electrics.
regards kevin
its works fine as a holder and charger. as it was designed not a hands free kit
its works fine tomtom bluetooth gps sony ericsson headset
thanks all....ive gone for the tomtom 3 gps receiver.im assured that it has the relevant RJ11 connector...Ill let you all know how it goes!
On the side issue of the car kit thing, this arkon kit is pretty good I have to say, but I was always aware that it was not really a hands free car phone like those by nokia etc, and will probably jump the bluetooth headset way soon....any ideas which?

XDA IIs custom mount / kit for tomtom 5

http://www.pdamods.com/products.asp?cat=23 have a custom mount for the XDA IIs this works with the wired GPS receiver from tomtom with rj11 cable
However I think the Vodaphone VPA connector is different and I have found it is a different connector, can someone confirm this ?

Can't say, but I do have that cradle from pdamods with my XDAIIs and it works a treat. It needs a little bit of self-adhesive velcro (the soft side) stuck on the inside to stop the PDA from rattling, but otherwise it's great.
I'd be amazed if the VPA is any different as they are all basically the same unit, but it would be worth trying. Sadly, I had a VPA on my desk until last week when I sent it back to Vodafone, but I never tried it in this cradle

I do not think it works, does anyone have a Vodaphone VPA that can confirm, please ??? They seem to have changed the socket

Artemis VS Orbit. Which one?

Hi. I'm selling my XDA EXEC soon so i can buy a smaller pocket PC. I really like the look of the Artemis/Orbit but i can't decide which one to get. I was all set to buy the the Orbit but now after seeing a couple of YouTube vids i'm starting to change my mind. To me the Artemis looks a bit smaller but i can't really tell, any suggestions?
Also as i said previously i'm getting rid of my EXEC, if anybody wants it here is the description:
6 month old XDA EXEC which is in great condition and has had a screen protector on it from day one. Also i'm throwing in my Bluetooth GPS box with it's wall charger and car charger. Also i have a in car holder for the EXEC as well. I'm also including a 2GB SD card with the phone!
Exec has TOMTOM installed on it as well as some games (virtual pool and monkey islands games etc). Also got a stylus with a pen in it!!!
The ROM is a bit on the old side so i can upgrade it before sending it out or leave it as is.
£300 Or nearest offer.
I accept PAYPAL and if u wanna check my ebay account it's called shun_di12 (100% positive and 100 feedback!!)

The P3300 and Orbit are the same size according to the official specs for both (H 108, W 58, D 16.8).
We had the Artemis, Orbit and MDA Compact-III together earlier today, they are all the same size, the different colour gives the illusion of differing size but they are the same.
The screen size is small (well compared to an Exec) - but you can carry the Artemis and MDA in the same shirt pocket and combined they weigh less than my Exec, the screen resolution and contrast on the HTC units is very good, although in the car you can get quite a mirror effect from it under certain lighting conditions, you can reduce this through the use of the screen protection film to some extent, very nice devices though.
Big plus point with the P3300 Artemis you get the pre-installed TomTom Navigator software (correct version for the device), a car decent car charger (although I would prefer the un-coiled style) and a good quality car holder/ mount that will tilt/ Swivel - Mike
Thanks for the replies guys. I went into the T-mobile and O2 stores today to have a proper look. I've decided to get the Artemis/P3300 version, quick question though is the only difference between the MDA compact III and P3300 the logo? On ebay.co.uk there aren't any HTC models at the moment, only T-mobile ones!
No the T-Mobile unit doesn't have WiFi on board and it isn't supplied with Pocket MSN, car charger, holder etc - if you don't need the WiFi then its a good bit of kit - Mike
Thanks for the heads up mike. I almost bought a compact iii recently. Having WiFi would be nice as i'm used to having it on my EXEC. I'm thinking about importing one from America as there seems to be loads of HTC ones over there. If I import one will it be alright to use over here (assuming it's unlocked) on the T-mobile UK network? And am i right in thinking i would have to buy an english AC adaptor?
