Upgrade WM2k3 to WM2k3SE on iPAQ H6300/H6365 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi!
I was using XDA 1 previously, oh well it's indeed a cool device. In fact it was my second pda-phone device after my palm tungsten w.
I just got myself a new cool gadget, hp iPAQ H6300/H6365(asia), the flip was it outbeats the XDA2 with its integrated Wi-Fi, but the flop the speed is no where faster than XDA1.
All in all it's pretty neat machine apart of its squared design
I wish to upgrade the rom to Wm2k3 SE, how and/where could I possibly start off...
Any advice are most welcome.
I wonder, let say for example, the rom designed for XDA 2 and then install on iPAQ, would there be causing anything different or anything bad like crash/incompatibility :?: :?

Sure..You can't install a ROM to your device designed to another PDA..
All ROM are containing different drivers, programs supporting the different hardware, like processor,screen,etc..
So there is no way.

Argh... that was too bad for me
btw, if you know any of rom kitchen for ipaq? sorry if this should not be asked in this forum. Couldn't really get of much pointers around.

Hi!
My friend has an MDA Pro, and he's fed up with WM 5.
Is there a way to get a PPC2003 ROM for Universal?
(I haven't found on FTP)
thanks
ahoj
to make it short: no
 yeah of course u can downgrade to WM2003 SE....
...u have just to believe in flying donkey...
:?: can u explain us why u want to downgrade to this ****ty OS??? :?:
BYE
I told my friend these bad news, and he's really sad now...
He's fed up with it's extemely low performance in everyday use
He's fed up with BT connection issues, application incompatibility...
He was hoping that this "little" thing is like the HP iPAQ hx4700, where you are able to downgrade to the "original, shipped" WM 2003 SE.
Well, all-in-all... NO.
thanks for the help
Zoli
why not???
is it becouse of the reolution??
ore is the chip set diverent
y have run windows mobile 2005 on my qtek 2020
bud y still love my diamond rom from
omegaone hey is a forum member this is the most stable rom y have ever used
y realy like to have it on my 9000
even if it means when the battery is dead y lose all my data
x back helps me running again
y hope some one takes the time to figure it out
The problem is that the Universal was designed from the ground up as a WM5 device, and so there is no "Original" ROM to downgrade to. There are quite a few posts on this already that go in greater detail.
My friend is interested about every solutions
(I know that the ROM area is different, as well as the chipset is. Apart from that, I really hope that there are some people who are developing it, like WM5 to Blue Angels.)

All these people work in Microsoft, and they would not bother porting obsolete OSes for a modern device. Better they'd make an upcoming WM 6.0 for our toy
Anyway you would not like Universal having only 32Mb RAM and 32Mb of object store. Or should I say 24 / 24 Mb.

Which ROM for WM6 to use for HP Ipaq 2200?

Hi,
I would need assistance - which ROM for WM6 to use for HP Ipaq 2200?
I am novice for this. Can anyone help me with this one finding the ROM for this built?
Where should I search for?
Thanks!
Can anyone suggest me where to search for WM6 for my PDA?
me 2 thnaks!!
If your refering to the OLD iPAQ 2210 series, I don't think WM6 fits in a 32MB ROM, which is what those pda's had. I used to have one of those and that is one of the reasons I upgraded. I wonder how much can you take out of WM6 to be able to reduce it's size by half...
This so far has worked on a my 2755 and another 2495. Not sure about earlier versions.

DO NOT FLASH THIS TO YOUR 2200 series. It IS NOT the correct firmware.
Further checking shows this is not for the 2200 series
HP iPAQ hx2110/hx2115/hx2190/hx2190b/hx2195/hx2195b/hx2410/hx2415/hx2490
hx2490b/hx2495/hx2495b/hx2750/hx2755/hx2790/hx2790b/hx2795/hx2795b
It will be nice to have iPAQ H2210 upgraded to WM6.
My H2210 has PPC 2003 ROM only not even 2003SE. It will be nice to have it upgraded to 2003SE if WM6 is not available. Can someone help?
so yes, or no?
NO! iPAQ H2200 series cannot be upgraded because it is too much of efforts and too little reward to build a WM5/6 ROM for this most easily broken (mostly grips and battery doors) amongst the iPAQs.
In my humble opinion: NO. The Windows Mobile 6 Operating System does not fit into a 32MB ROM. I remember back when 2003SE came out, we couldn't even upgrade to that because of the ROM size constraint. That said, I do still like the PDA a lot, specially the large bright screen and ergonomics.
yes, 2200 series have got a little ROM, but support CF cards! I have heard, that system can boot from a card, so if somebody can change it to boot from card, it will be great, and users of 2200 series can be happy with new WM!
Help me too ... hate the wm 2003
i bought an hp ipaq h2200 frm a friend, and thought ,and now i d like to flash a wm 5 or 6.x rom to it. I read through the above posts to understand i probably cannot. But if i can boot a different os from the mem cards, can i please know more about it?
please help ...
wm 2003 is stifling me

Motorola mpx300 WM5 or WM6

i currently have a Wizard, and im happy with it, but i always had my eye on the motorla mpx 300 , because its such a rare phone, problem is its running PPC 2003 2nd edition, and i wish if someone COOKED or perhaps knows a place that offers one? its crucial, before i invest money into buying the phone
Is it still possibly to flash WM5 on MPX300? THanks!
I would be interested in this as well
Yes, I really like the design and function of MPX300 and still using it right now, even there's so many WM5/WM6 devices in the market now. Just one more step if someone can upgrade the MPX300 to run WM5, either software or hardware upgrade would made this phone prefect for me.
If I could find a Wm6 upgrade for this phone, I would start hunting one down today. That would be cool..... Never saw the phone before this post, very cool
wm5 anybody?
reviving this old thread...
i've heard of rumors, but never actually seen a wm5 for the little...
???
I found a post from someone that has gotten wm5 on the mpx300
Yahoo Id: coockie_monster26
AIM: CooCkieXP
Seems like a reputable source....
Find his post here:

I'm trying to contact him for tips...
He replied the post in 2006, that's 2 years ago. Not sure if he still using MPX300. However, he is still an active member there. Hope he still have the WM5 files for MPX300.

But Device like mpx300 have 32mb Ram so WM6 or later is not recomendet for this device its something like put wm6.1 to MPX200 working but very slow ;(

However.... we just need of wm5.... that's much bettere than 2003se.

h6325 Series windows 6.1

Hello,
First I would like to say that you guys are doing great work.
I have an iPaq h6325 which if you are familiar with the model, has an issue with losing all your data when the battery in drained or removed. This problem may or may not be resolved with software -- to date.. no fix has EVER been made, and HP deny's this as an issue -- it's by design!! The same thing goes for the extremely low volume for sound direct from the handset.
Anyway, my question for you is that I have noticed cooked copies for various models of iPaqs, including 6.1 for the h2000 series. What is necessary for you to make a copy of 6.1 for my model of iPaq. I am really sick of looking at Windows CE 2003, on my pure touch device when it can do just as much as an iPhone if using Windows CE 6.1 (hardware wise).
Please help.
Thank you.
.... anyone please ?
p.s.
I modded my ipaq 6325 so it now reads as a 6365 ... if that helps....
i can't believe this topic is so dead....
this is one of the best pieces of hardware they have.. even better than a lot of the newer garbage with tiny screens.... the biggest downfall is something which is fixed using a newer OS ... aka ... Windows Mobile 6 ... stores the information so it NEVER gets lost.. even if the battery dies... (which is retarded.... at this moment... I hate the lazy engineers at HP!!!... I will never buy another one cuz their support stinks... and they are so happy to replace the defective one with another one, just as defective!!!)
gaaaaaaaarrrh.... why couldn't everything go the way of the Vic 20!! .. instant OS... stable!!... and fast!!!
not to sound impatient, but day 3 now, and still no response to my post ?

Newbie deciding in between repairing his nokia E62 or going for an E600 and flash it.

Hello everybody, this is a really nice forum, all you need to know about flashing an Excalibur windows mobile is here. Just amazing I found this!
Well, the story goes as follows:
My Nokia E62 died for no reason (when I turn it on, it just get frozen on the nokia logo) it seems there's a cure, but I need to send it to a repair shop or something like that.
The other option I have is to buy a new "unopened" (but unlocked) HTC E600 from a store, and flash it with a WM 6.5 or 6.1... I already have some flashing experience: I own an Acer N311 PDA that sports WM5 and I flashed to WM6.0 which brought new life to my PDA (except for some minor-and-not-often unstability issues)
My dilemma...:
1-send my beloved E62 to repair and keep going with it...
2-or buy the E600, new phone, new year, new life...? is it really a good choice? I like WM6 on my PDA, but is WM good when using it as a phone? What could go seriously wrong? Is the Java implementation good enough? Will I miss symbian...? etc etc..
no option 3 I could think about... (it would become a trilemma if so )
Thank you very much in advance!

Well basically I think you got to figure out by yourself , since you are the one who knows what phone will be suitable to fill your expectations and cover your daily mobile needs. For my point of view, you need to compare the functionability that you want from a phone and if that phone is capable of provide you that. For me and many others, the dash and the amazing roms posted in this forum provides you all of that; since they have been elaborated to the different "tastes" of the thousands of users in this site. Because here, we want to take the dash to the edge and squeeze the last drop of resources that it can provide us. That is my personal opinion and many others will have a different one or similar. Something that might help can be a basic comparison and see what phone is offering you what. You can look here and decide from this basic specifications. http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone2=1708&idPhone1=1696. Other thing to consider is this amazing forum, something that not many other brands might have. This can provide you an added value to your purchase if you decide for the excalibur.
I hope that helps
Thank you very much for the reply!!
Im pretty sure I will end up buying the E600... I am just a little worried about battery life.
Also, what about performance? My E62 was terribly slow, it took like 7 seconds to open a message (sms), but I eventually got used to it... and such "details", menu navigation was laggy and slow. It always been this way...
Is there any noticeable difference in between the E600, S620, S621?
