Help I maged to kill my XDA1 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

While trying to flash the XDA1, something got wrong, communication probably stopped in the middle and the result is an xda with the Progress Bar stuck.
The bootloader version is 5.17.
I connected a serial cable to the XDA1, broght the boot loader, I get the messages from the boot loader, but when trying to type a command, there is no echo to my typing (I can't see charcters on the Hyper Terminal and therefore I can's d2s from the SD card (written by OSImageTools).

(SOLVED) Just another USB brick...

I ****ed up my phone somehow and I don't know how to fix it. I was going to install a new Rom, was wiping data and went to partition my SD card to try A2SD. I couldn't do it in clockwork recovery so I thought I'll connect the phone to my PC and run Paul's recovery from r5 rooting method. The problem was that somehow both recovery's were running and I'm not sure what I pressed but now my phone can't recognize the SD card, nor can the PC recognize the phone when I connect it. The Rom can boot up, but somehow it's not working properly, I can't make/receive calls but for example WiFi works. I guess its not bricked since Android launches but I have no idea how to fix what I messed up. Somebody please help me
Your device is usb bricked, search for usb brick in the development, this can be easily fixed.
Thanks, I found it, but I'm stuck at step 1: "Enable the SD Card functionality. Boot your phone in FASTBOOT mode (back + power), and enter this command: 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' . This will re-enable your SD card."
Where should I enter that command ? Thanks.
EDIT: I fixed it ! Thank you so much. I knew it will be easy to fix just I couldn't think clearly and forgot about the USB bricking issue

[Q] PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! i think i bricked my Evo

My Evo won't charge unless it is turned off. When the phone is on, the usb won't give me any mode option. Phone doesn't see the sdcard. PC won't see the phone. I have usb debugging checked. Device manager gives me three qualcomm CDMA Technologies and can't find drivers. Everything on the phone works except for apps using the sdcard. The phone says "SD Card removed" at the top left of the pulldown bar. With the vol down and power the phone will read the PC36IMG.zip of the sdcard and load and run it. After rebooting it still doesn't recognize the sdcard. I followed all steps in this previous thread:..............................................................................................................................................................................................................
These fixes require the Android SDK and very basic ADB knowledge. You can copy and paste for most.
Make sure in device manager the driver for fastboot is installed (Win 7 downloads them automatically)
For USB fix
Download the flash_image & mtd-eng.img attached, unzip them and put them on the SD card before starting
SD Card Fix
Press & hold vol down and power on the phone
Select fastboot by pressing the power button
ADB commands
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot reboot
That should fix your SD card not being detected........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
i get all the way to to Command Prompt and enter the correct dir where my ADB and Fastboot are, then i proceed to type fastboot oem enableqxdm 0. Then it says waiting for device. Help please! Im stuck.

I would try simple things first. Do you have a card reader or a different phone to put your card in, so you can mount it to your pc? If so, mount the sd card to your pc, and use windows to check the disk for errors. Let it run and do its thing. Put the sd card back in you're evo. If it stil won't read it, then use your Evo to format the sd card (back up the card first). Formatting it could help. Do you have any other cards to test with? And, as far as the fix you've tried, and you're getting stuck at "waiting for device", I'm not sure. How long did you wait for? Also, do you have any other USB cables to try? I have read on numerous occasions, of people having trouble with the factory HTC cable. And lastly, as the previous poster asked, have you tried any other ROMs other than what you're on? (and what rom are you on, btw?)
hmm...argh!!
thanks for responding. I just finished to an unroot. My phone does boot up fine now and there is no more "sd card removed" error, but my phone still doesn't see my sd card. And it keeps on powering down and then vibrating 5 times, then the led indicator flashes green and i cant restart my phone without pulling the battery and replacing it. I have a card reader on my pc (im running vista). The pc reads it just fine. ???

Hmm, that is strange. So your pc reads the contents of the card just fine, and when you run a 'disk check' on the sd card, it turns up no errors? What were you doing on the phone when this first started, or was it out of the blue? So since your Evo doesn't see the sd card, then formatting it using the phone isn't an option I presume? What about formatting it using windows (fat32), then putting it in the phone, is that something you tried already?
As far as the phone vibrating 5 times and then you get the blinkng led, i believe that is the phone kicking itself into diagnostic mode. I'm not really clear as to what exactly that is, or why it would be happening, but I am sure that it is in diagnostic mode at that time. So you said you unrooted it, and you're currently on stock, s-off ROM right now? Do you still get the same error when you try the fix that you were initially trying to execute?
And i cant flash any ROM's due to the fact that my computer wont recognize my phone, therefore i cant access the ADB Shell. This is so frustrating!!!
i was in the process of flashing a rom and thats when the problems started. I haven't tried formatting the SD Card. I dont see how that would help me, because i can access the card and its contents just fine but my phone wont recognize there being an sd card in the phone. It seems to be a trifecta of evil!!! LOL 1.) PC doesn't see the phone 2.) Phone doesn't see sd card 3.) i can't flash anything because i can do nothing in the ADB Shell. I initially went the Unrevoked3 route of rooting and then i went the way of flashing the PC36IMG file that you put on the root of the sd card and then renaming it. The guy in this thread seemed to have the same exact issue and he figured it out. I dont know what im doing wrong.

Once you format it, before you put anything else on the card, I would put it back in the Evo, and see if it will recognize it, totally fresh from the format. If that still fails, then I'm out of ideas. I'm sorry, hopefully someone else can offer some advice if that still doesn't work. I would consider dropping by sprint for some service if you can't get it handled.
Is it still giving you the 5 vibrates? And also, if it says s-on, you are unrooted, Forgive my previous typo.
thanks. i'll let you know what it does after the format. hopefully this works. (fingers crossed)

Good luck dude. I hope that works for ya, I'll do another quick search and see what I come up with.
Also, did you try this again? After you unrooted? Same results as before, "waiting for device?"

okay i figured out the sd card issue. too bad i didnt see this thread before i formatted.
"alright, it is done. i was putting it in recovery mode for the sd card, and i should have just stopped at fastboot and not put it in recovery. thanks all of you. you knew what you were speaking about, i just didnt follow the instructions correctly" (posted by airauto)
now my phone recognizes my sd card. whew. one down. thanks for your help anyways.
got the sdcard to be seen by the Evo but now its still rebooting after about two minutes and then vibrates 5 times. ?????

Glad you got that figured out. Didn't you backup your sd card to your pc before you formatted? Just copy everything back over to the card.

Wish I could help you on that, but any thread I've ever seen where people were having that problem, where it vibrates 5 times then goes black and the led blinks, the only resolution I ever saw (and I could be wrong, I'd do a search on google about that, quite a bit of stuff on there) was replacing the phone. I'm not sure of the cause of that. If there is a fix for it, xda and google should have it somewhere though. (but I still think replacing is the option for you)

It would help to diagnose the problem, if you first tell us what you did to cause this? Best to be honest, saves time.
I was using AAHK (Advanced Hack kit) and it was running OK until it popped up a windows dialog box asking for Qualcomm CDMA driver MSM (similar to the device I now see in device manager).
I wasn't sure what to do so I stopped there.
After that I couldn't reboot (screen always black) and am in this situation
I have tried EVERYTHING!
I can push/pull from ADB but "adb shell" tells me /bin/sh is missing.... but in Linux I can copy over /system/bin and /system/lib (from another droid) and then I can adb to root shell (at least until reboot as I am then in a temporary build).. if I then run /sbin/recover I get the red triangle recovery screen.... that's about as far as I got.... I don't have linux here though so I may not immediately be able to get the shell, as I can't change the perms of the pulled droidn stuff that I push.
I am pulling my hair out!!!!
the only thing I can do is get root adb!
no fastboot
can anybody tell me how to reflash a radio through adb?
to an mmcblk....
may help?
I having a too similar issue!
I used the AAHK to root and s-OFF, until it finished the phone reboot and got this state.
Putting off the battery with luck (I dont know how or why) I can start the phone 3 times... but every time I restart it stuck.
I installed 4EXTRecovery and format all (except sd card) and installed a custom ROM "Erebus", I tough that I fix it with it, but still stucking every time I restarted the device...
EDIT:
It start again...
1. put off the battery
2. wait 20 seconds
3. put the battery back
4. wait <>10 min (I shouldn't say exactly how much)
5. turn on the phone
The last time it works in that way.
I have tried this... no luck
I think the phone totally dead for ever.
It's annoying that I can get adb and root shell "#" and can have access to everything yet cannot get anything to work.
All I can do is put the phone in "recovery" mode. But that is useless...
thanks darunion!
Go to the Irc channel for the developer and he will help out
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I did this and he tried to help, but we still couldn't get it working.
I need to know, with a root shell via ADB can I re-install the the radio?
The radio.img is 25MB.. where to put?
Actually I dd the eng bootloader to the appropriate mmcblk... but nothing has changed!!
thanks
Dhd or inspire? If inspire look for genepooles s on return to stock thread put on SD card and try hack kit again . Dunno if there's anything like that for dhd.
Edit: look here for flashing radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896597
Sent from my Inspire 4g
DHD...
need to flash via adb as I haven't got fastboot (doesn't see phone with fastboot devices)
think bootloader is corrupt?? radio is corrupt for sure!
can use flash_image (and gfree if any use?)
getprop shows ro.cid totally corrupt!!!
ro.baseband 26.03.02.26_M
ro.bootloader 0.85.0007 (this is HBOOT!!)
I can also dmesg... and get complete log from kernel booting...
I can see during dmesg on initial boot (Kernel command line that the androidboot.cid is totally *corrupt* (crappy strange characters)
if the kernel boots why doesn't the screen come up???
Also:
in dmesg
msmfb_probe() installing 480 x 800 panel
mdp_lcdc_probe: initialized (probably probing for the display???)
...some stuff....
err: Device config mismatch
is this where the screen fails?
also
Issuing reboot from adb root shell # and the phone vibrates continuously and green led flashes!!
OK, a little further
running from adb root shell
/sbin/recovery update_package=SDCARD:/update.zip
gets me to a green circle with an arrow... and a progress bar and a little sdcard
this soon bombs to a red question mark and everything stops
I did pull the cable on the green circle and the power went off, when I plugged it back in the HTC logo came up (Green on white background) butt went straight to the red question mark!!!!
arghhhhh
even further.... up arrow and power during red question mark...
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 ..... (the SD Card)
Getting closer I hope. (Stays like this even with fresh formatted card)
(I tried an internal flash upgrade that didn't get pass the red question mark for some reason)
It seems I am booting into a ramdisk.... I need somehow to get the sdcard back (by forcing off qualcomm diagnostics mode from adb if possible?)
I guess I can recover these ways.. any help appreciated!!
1. "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" somehow from adb (I don't have fastboot) so that an /sbin/recovery can retrieve the PD98IMG.ZIP from the sdcard and reinstall stock
2. Somehow rewrite the bootloader from the root shell (dd to an mmcblk) - I have done this for boot/recovery but seems to make no difference
3. Somehow get fastboot back so I can use it, at the moment I can't get fastboot to recognize the device no matter what I do (bootloader ******).
4. make PD98IMG.ZIP (or whatever) persistent in storage to allow me to access it on an /sbin/recovery reboot (somehow get it into /data which at the moment isn't persistent across reboots).
Anything else?
Don't think I need to jtag a device that can still be accessed through a root shell?
OK
mounted /data manually and stuck in PD98IMG.zip
/sbin/recovery --update_package=DATAD98IMG.zip
gets
E: Signature verification failed
I have tried original RUU extracted images!!! and others but still the same message!!!
I wonder whether the /res/keys public key is HTC's!
Is there an unsigned 3e patched recovery version available for DHD?

[Q] Unable to Get Token Identifier for unlocking

Hi all.
My HTC One X (international version) is stuck in a boot loop. If I press Volumen Down button I can see the HBOOT screen where on top it says **** LOCKED ****
I am trying to unlock it using HTCdev. But that requires me to run the command
Code:
fastboot oem get_token_identifier
But since my device is already stuck in boot loop, my computer is having trouble detecting it.
As output of the above, I only see
Code:
<waiting for device>
If I press Volume Down now, the HBOOT says "Checking SD card for updates", "Failed to open usb master mode", "Loading PJ46IMG.zip" etc. and reboots again.
When I try
Code:
fastboot devices
sometimes I am able to retrieve the serial number of my device correctly.
Any suggestions on how I can get the unlock_code.bin ?

Amit

Hi kantry123.
My phone would connect to my laptop fine before this issue. I also updated HTCSync and tried to ensure I have latest drivers.
Is updating HTC Sync not enough to ensure driver update?

Recover dead screen phone information

Long story short.
My phone dropped in water.
Tried dry with rice, dehumidifier, open, clean contacts, dry . Screen is not working, totally black no responses and neither is the front button.
However, I can start, reboot, enter in fastboot and normal boot. I know it because I connect it to PC through USB and I can see the device connected as MTP device in normal mode and as android device in fastboot.
I cannot comunicate, nor extract info with ADB as USB developer mode was not enable. ADB doesn't see the device.
fastboot do see the device and I can get serial number and all variables with "fastboot getvar all".
I tried to flash a custom recovery from fastboot but It says that bootloader is locked and I cannot unlock it as I have no screen.
I tried to boot external image with fastboot boot image but again I cannot as bootloader is locked
I doesn't seem to autoconnect to my home wifi nor to the phone carrier network inserting a sim card with pin lock removed.
I have now ordered a new phone but I would like to extract info from this phone and acces to the storage.
Does anyone have any idea what else can I do to acces the phone or how to remove the bootloader lock withouth screen ??
Thanks
