Latest radio for AT&T - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello,
What is latest radio stack for SX-56 (I have T-Mobile phone but I guess it's the same). My reads right now as A.33.02 which looks like still having T-Mobile radio since from what I read so far AT&T stack is in 20s.

Upgraded from T-Mobile 4.01.00 to ATT A.30.09

So I upgraded to the ATT rom and radio stack to do a comparison from the T-mobile rom and 6.24.01 radio stack.
Impressions are that the ATT rom/radio are as good if not better than my older rom/radio although with the ATT rom i now seem to be always roaming on the cingular network rather than the t-mobile network ???
verified this by reverting to the t-mobile rom (left the att radio stack) and low-and-behold the phone reports that i have a t-mobile signal once again.
is this a problem or nothing to worry about ...
thanks
There is no problem at all. i called t-mobile to ask about this roaming signal thing, and they told me that it is perfecty allright and they will not bill anything extra.
here is something else i found out - T-mobile and Cingular have a agreement, in places where t-Mo does not have their own setup - Cingular is used - so infact even when it says T-Mobile you are actually on the Congular network, it is just the T-MO customized ROM which says that you are on T-MO.
so relax and enjoy a better ROM
lethaleagles is correct. Just before T-Mobile came into the SF Bay Area/and perhaps most of CA, it was announced that T-Mo has signed an agreement with Cingular to lease their lines; however, if I also recall, the data technology is all T-Mo's.
The software of the T-Mo Radio Stack replaces the reporting of the IMEI's current network being Cingular to T-Mobile.
how?
Hi, can I know how you guy upgrade from 4.01 to 30.09? I'm currently stuck at 4.01 with Bootloader 5.17 I only have 128mb MMC Card and Xda Cradle.
So the method I used was the tried and trusted SD flashing method.
I extracted the nbf file from the ATT .exe and burnt it to a 128mb SD card reset the device and accepted the prompt to flash from SD.
Once the ROM was loaded and looked ok I reset the partnership and re-sync'd contacts and calendar, loaded my custom ring tones and theme.
I then copied the radio upgrade files over to the PPC and ran rsupgrade.
Went without hitch and I am very pleased with the end result.
Oh obviously I backed up my data before embarking on this path.
Update the RS
I keep getting the message saying it cannot find the RSugrade file. Can anyone tell me what files and where should I put in the PPC?
Thanks!
Have you guys tried to get a GPRS connection after the upgrade?
If so did it work and is it still working? (somethings tells me its a T-Mobile issue but I thought I ask).
Also can somebody post their Device Information with this new ROM/ radio stack, I'm most interested in what your Protocol version has been changed to!

You need the below files and you put them in your devices windows root folder:
monitor_ul_bs.m0
monitor_ul_bs.map
RSUpgrade.cp64
RSUpgrade.exe
HTH
qman,
yes i got gprs to work after the upgrade - i had to manually create the connections, making sure they were NOT setup to use the ATT proxy. they worked pefectly yesterday, but i just tried them today and no joy  i am putting this down to flakey t-mobile gprs service and will try again later today.
Device Information output:
ROM version: A.30.09 ENG
ROM date: 01/01/04
Radio Version: A.33.02
Protocol Version: 1.3.3
Hi Q - catch up w/me on MSN Messenger...I have protocol 324e4 as well. GPRS seems to be slow on the ATT Network (I also have an ATT SIM). With 4.01.00 and my T-Mo SIM connection was faster - although both attempts are with only the 6.24.01 RS.
Right-on Rey and thanks!
I upgraded my t-mobile xda last night, I didn't however upgrade the radio stack. This is working very well for me. I'm using the 6.24.01 RUU and the latest AT&T Rom. Those of you who are waiting this is the way to do it as you can then always go back to a t-mobile rom.

Glad to hear you got it working!
GPRS has been giving me the fists here in LV (is it ROM, is it the radio stack..upgrade..downgrade..what hell is going on)!
I finally called T-Mobile this morning to see what was going on and they told me that they were having system wide problems, O really!
Anyhow I'm up and running with A.30.09 ENG as you can see by my Sig.

Odd device (ROM) info

HI
I've had my o2 xda2 since it came out in the UK Nov 2003 and I haven't reflashed the ROM or done any thing like that. I even got O2 to network unlatch it for me. (This was before the unlock tool) I was surprised to see the following device info when i did a soft reset.
ROM version 1.03.00 USA
ROM date 09/24/03
Radio Version 1.05.12
Protocol version 1337.12
the bit that surprised me was USA in the ROM version.
I've been in Toronto since May 04 on Fido has my ROM been upgraded without my knowledge over the air/or when I use my wifi card or is this a really old rom as i got one of the first xda2's that came out in the UK.
Should I upgrade the rom with o2 latest update?? or use a different ROM
The XDA locks up rarely, the only problem is when you go out of signal range (ie on the underground subway) the xda2 sometime can't lock back onto the network and so a soft reset is needed.
I look forward to your pearls of wisdom.

radio 1.12

hi
can anyone point me in the direction of the download for this rom - i keep seeing it in people's sigs and i'm jealous
cheers
si
A newer version of the radio stack is not necessarily better than the older one. For example, several members in the UK find 1.09 works better than 1.11
I don't know where the 1.12 radio stack is, but the 1.11 is available here: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Universal/Radio
1.11 radio problems
I have had strange probems with 1.11, including loss of signal & inability to dial in places where there is a signal. Only starts working again after a soft reset. Its intermittent but reason enough to go back to the QTEK ROM with radio 1.09.

I have a feeling that it depends on where you use your phone...
I had the same probs with droping calls where the phone worked before in the UK with 1.11 going to try 1.10 for a bit.
How To Upgrade MDA PRO from Chinese to English
Hi,
I just bought a T-Mobile MDA PRO in China but it is in Chinese. Can some one advise me which WWE ROM I should use in order not to cause the system hang after upgrade? Can I upgrade WWE ROM from other brand? I got the following info from the set:
ROM version: 1.00.00WWE
Radio version: 1.06.00
Protocol version: 42.40.P8
ExtROM version: 1.13.134 CHT
Thank your in advace

fongsg: Go for the Qtek AKU2 ROM 1.30.77 1.30.176 1.09.00 WWE.
It is one of the few ROMs which have AKU2 as well as A2DP for Bluetooth. It's quite fast and stable as well. The radio ROM is also very stable - apparently better than the 1.11 stack.
i upgraded to radio 1.08 and so far have been having lots of probs with the signal, also losing my net connection etc.. anyone suggest a good radio?

Try 1.09. It seems to be the most popular radio stack at the moment.

what about RADIO 1.10 from T-mobile ???
1.10 gives me the best reception (in the Netherlands)
I'm having problems with 1.09 in the US I drop my GPRS and calls fail all the time. I am upgrading to 1.11 to see if this helps.
1.11 is REALLY bad in the UK on o2, bad signal, and once lost it is impossible to get back, have to switch off radio and then back on to get the signal back. That's my experience anyway, 1.09 is the best I have used so far, very strong signal and very stable
Using an O2 XDA Exec with Radio 1.09 in Asia [Manila, Philippines] any other Universal users who have updated to Radio 1.11? How is it? Does it perform better compared to 1.09? I am unsure if I should update my Radio to 1.11, some posts here say 1.11 is unstable for their territory but I would like some info on 1.11 radio ussage in Asia. TIA.
No problems here using 1.11. Been using it for about 1 month. Portugal territory

also have the XDA Exec here in Manila and I have tried 1.11. Went back to 1.09 as it seems to give me better reception
@herbules: Many thanks for the info I'll probably stay with 1.09, may I ask which operator you are on? I am on Globe and their UMTS coverage sucks.

yup...Globe UMTS really sucks, I also tried my Smart line on the Exec and UMTS was almost flawless, except I couldn't get my real player to play streaming vids smoothly
Hey guys,
Where I could download a stable Qtek 9000 ROM which is best in HK and Manila...?
Thanks

Question about Radio stacks

I am an Orange UK SPV M3100 (HERM100) user. My radio stack was originally whatever was in the AKU3 update for WM5.
After doing the HardSPL V7 flashing, I upgraded my radio stack to the 1.50.00 version which said GSM only.
Then I upgraded to 1.51.00 which sucked so I downgraded back to 1.50.00
Now I assume that GSM only means GSM/GPRS/Edge/UMTS/HSDPA and excludes WIFI/Bluetooth.
So my question is has there been any radio upgrades to the non-gsm parts of the radio stack since the WM5 AKU3 update that Orange UK released in April?
Hi Starfury.
All the Radios only affect the calls/GPRS/3G etc. part of the phone. I'm not sure why 1.50 has GSM in the title as it's fundamentally the same as all the other Radio's, albeit a different version. Bluetooth and WiFi are always controlled from the actual ROM - in your case Scahps' excellent one (from your sig). I'm not sure how frequently the bits of the ROM controlling Bluetooth and WiFi are updated, but I'm sure the Chefs here have the very latest ones built in!
Happy flashing....
"GSM Only" refers to the fact that it's only a radio update.
