Can i burn the XDAII ROM on the SD card and then use it to upgrade XDAI Rom??? Thanks in advance. Nicola :?:
no you cant a rom is OS and firmware and anything
a rom is embedded software for the spc hardware of a device
if you put a xda2 rom on a xda1 device the software will take it for granted that the xda1 have a 400 Mhz xcale cpu and the ati media chip and a bluetooth stack and a sdio slot and more ram and a cam
and when the OS / ROM / SOFTWARE try to access those devices
you'll have a ton of unhandled execptions and access violations on your hand
tks.

i'm about to buy a new pda+phone but i have some difficulty in choosing
what device to buy : either QTEK2020i or Qtek9090 .......
the main difficulty is due to the Rom of the 9090 beeing 64Mb while that
of the 2020i beeing stated as 128Mb .
is it possible with both phones to upgrade later to windowsmobile2005 due to the difference of the rom.....?
please help i'm planning to buy the device next week.......
the only info about 2005 on those devices have been from imate who say it will never happen
rom is where the os is and the normal rom cant be used for anything
ram is what you want are you sure you dont mean ram ?
less confused
i'meant that if after all i'll buy the 9090 and if the windowsmobile update will be possible ......
{i will buy the ramcard 512Mb card with the phone {seperately}}
i think the rom carries the operating files or not and the largest the rom the
more the upgrade will be possible or not ?
i'm still using my p900 and don't know much about the qtek ..........
also i want to ask where the windows mobile files are installed on rom or on ram inside the phone ....?
finally i choose 9090
ok then i will buy the qtek9090 this week thanks for your help ....... :?
well roms have to be made specialy for a device so
roms made for the device will always fit the rom size
if devices with more rom size will include more stuff then i guess
that rom size matters
if 2005 will ever come for these device i dont know
but then guess you can live without it if you really need to
Hi...anyone can comment on this subject objectively.
I'm toying with the idea of putting together a ROM for my iPAQ h5550 with WM5. This is an excellent piece of hardware that HP decided to dump & moved on to other models.
Those of you who have managed to upgrade your devices to WM5, please advice me on the following:
What do I need to start with? I've the iPAQ h5550.
Is the hardware compatible? I read from some reviews that generally all X-Scale CPUs are acceptable. My unit has 128Mb RAM & 40 Mb ROM.
What software tools are relevant for this project?
Which ROM can I use as a base for the OS?
How do I get the drivers for the hardware to work in WM5?
That's all i can think of so far...would appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction...
Thanks!
the simple truth: No. There is no WM5 Rom Upgrade for this device. And i think it's absolutely impossible to build your own WM5...
TRY, IT WORKS
Want to try WM5.0 out for your self? I originally posted this on ipaqhq.com but I figured this forum is more of a target for such information . ...

Hello Guys,
I have a Qtek 9000 with original French Rom : (bought in feb 2006)
ROM 1.13.72 FRE from 10/13/05
radio 1.03.00
protocol 42.36.P8
extROM 1.13.166 FRE
I have been around a lot of threads, but it is hard to follow up on everything
Basically, I wish to upgrade my ROM to a more recent AKU.
What is the latest version developed in French ?
If there is a much better one that appear to be in English, I will take it.
could you then post me both versions and let me know which one should I really chose.
Moreover, I want to buy 4gb mem card, or even 8gb.
I have read about the "cam issue", no big deal
will this new AKU allow my qtek to support the 4gb or even the 8gb ?
is SDHC ok or is there any 4gb SD only ?
Finally, I bought some bluetooth stereo headset HTC S100
they were very promising, but revealed not to be fully compatible with my pda.
the remote control didn't work out, just like the simple listening of media files.
In fact, I was only able to pick up a call, but with bugs when hanging off.
in fact the two required norms (AVRCP and A2DP) are just not supported by the pda (too old... I was told by HTC)
will the new AKU allow it to actually work ?
Thx a lot for the help you can bring me
Pierre
You can start by upgrading your bootloader to 1.01, this will allow you to update with newest roms here..
I think here you can find only english roms, and I recommend you the Crossbow one.
Take a look about the WM6 - 2.00.03 PDAVIET version, is the more stable for me and has good stuff for A2DP purposes.
REMEMBER: You can always fall back to an outdated old rom if you wish, so, don't esitate! But flash it carefully
Nothing to say about SDHC
thx realogic.
if I understand correctly, I need first to upgrade my bootloader - how do I do that ?
then instead of a WM5 AKU (such as 3.5) better to go straight to WM6 (crossbow) - where can I find it and how do I process ?
but more importantly... how do I create a safe backup first ?
thx again
Here the bootloader utility ftp://xda:[email protected]/Universal/Bootloader_Upgrade/JASJAR_BL1.01_RUU_v1.2.exe
Just launch the app and it will upgrade,
for upgrade a rom, normally it comes RARed or zipped, just extract and launch the exe inside, you'll find more help searching on the forum
Here all the WM6 Roms:
* ROM v2.00.02WWE - Midget1990:

* ROM v2.00.02WWE - Helmi:

* ROM v2.00.02WWE - Indra:

* ROM v2.00.02PV (WWE) - Tom_codon:

* ROM v2.00.03PV (WWE) - Tom_codon:

* ROM v2.00.04PV (WWE) - TEST:
http://www.box.net/public/6n0xi6yitp
PASSWORD: PDAVIET or PDAVIET2505
I would recommend to use the 2.00.03PV one.
Also, upgrade the radio firmware to 1.14, you'll find searching in the forum
About the backup, I don't remember the names of that kind of app, but i'm sure you'll find some here.. just.. as always.. searching
SDHC dont even think about it.it wont work, sd and sdhc are different- u can use sd in sdhc capable device but not sdhc in sd-device. and as far as i know tere aren't any bigger sd cards than 4gb. (btw. officialy universal supports 2g bmax). and about sdhc dont believe nuclear/infidel (as i remeber he wrote that he runs sdhc in universal-thats crap)
Hi.
Im intrested if is possible to upgrade h4100 with wm6 OS.
Now is default w2003. If is, can someone send link or something tutorial how to do it...
THX
I found answer....
The H4150 hasn't enough memory to install WM5/6 on it, at least 64MB ROM is needed, your device only has the following:
ROM capacity: 32 MB (accessible: 2.8MB)
RAM capacity: 64 MB (accessible: 55MB)
There isn't even a WM2003SE upgrade available for your device so you're stuck with WM2003.

It is NOT the truth. A WM5 demo machine is actually built with 32MB ROM.
It is just something for HP to defense.
Sadly this is one of the best machine in terms of hardware.
hopefully if someone can put linux on it.
Any updates on this?? I also have a 4100 series Ipaq...(4155) that I'd like to upgrade.
Thanks,
Rudi
sorry to all
but i bel that i had seen wm5 available for hp 4150 on this page (not free)but a long time ago
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...esId=349042&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1087
and now they have changed that page
Any news or solutions?
I have an ipaq 4155 as well and wanted to know if anyone cooked a 5.0 or 6.1 rom for it?
Nope stuck to the end
Linux on iPAQ
You can try this .angstrom-distribution.org/2007-12-images-h2200-h3900-h4000-hx4700 if you don't mind using linux on iPAQ.
Sorry the link is not working. I have got also h4100, and want to try something new on it
my fault. just add www.
It's pity that hp 4100 is dead... But the last chance is to use sd card as system memory...
Hi to all,
i wonder to change the WinCE 5 of this system, with a more flexible OS such as WM2003 or WM6.
Seen that is an industrial system, how I can create a rom for this system?
Exist a software tool able to create an .nb0 file using the various .nb files, for example from the HTC ROM, in order to have the OS and boot file ?
Thanks in advance.
No one can help me (I'm a newbie!)
Please help me!
I have a similiar Problem.
I want to install a windows mobile 2003 or higher on a rugged PDA.
Some details:
Marvell PXA270 416 MHz
MDOC 1GB (200MB for OS)
Mobile SDRAM 128MB
Any help I would realy appreciate.
Thx in advance.
