................................ - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Two weeks ago I made a little application to convert any input video to MP4 compatible with our HD Touch HD.
At the beginning it was only for spanish people. It has been grown and now it's a big aplication and I want to share it with english spoken people.
Its main features are:
- Support for avi, mp4, wmv, mkv, mpg, m2v, mov, vob, flv. Dvd directly rip included.
- Adjust bitrate to resolution output video (from 250 to 800)
- Lets crop to our HD ratio aspect (5/3), and change the input video aspect ratio
- You can add, change order, or delete videos of the video pending queue in any time.
- Supports srt subtítles (if a srt file with same name is present)
- If heigth is greater than 480, it scales video
- Shows complete information of the video to convert (resolution, framerate, duration, etc)
- If input video includes multilanguage (Dvd, vod, mkv), you can select audio language, and subtitles language.
- You can select for each video the start and end position, and preview the video.
- You can join Mp4 of same resolution (if a video is splited in two videos, you can convert each one, and after join them)
- You can select if computer hibernate/suspends or shoot down after converting process.
- If application is minimized you see actual progress.
- Multilanguage interface support (actually English, Spanish and Catalan)
If you want to traslate interface to your language, copy the english.lng file to the name desired, and then edit with notepad, changing each input for the traslated one. Please send me this file if you want it will be present in the next version.
The link to the setup file is here:

I hope you enjoy it.
Regards.

Great work!
I have a feeling most others probbably use some other application...
But don't let this stop you. Please keep us informed of updates.
I will try this when I get a free moment
Thanks

and absolutly freeware.

Sorry, but where is the option to switch the bitrate for video?

It's automatic. It's calculated depending the size of the output video.

Looks great would love to give it a try... could someone attach it locally.. or post it to somewhere other than mediafire? I live in China... Mediafire is blocked. Although i can view the page using Firefox and the Gladder plugin to proxy it the php download gets screwed up. BTW just off hand anyone know a plugin or app for WM that can handle multi public proxies? the Great firewall blocks most free web site pages, more than half download pages Wikipedia on and off depending on moon phase <sigh> most blog pages ect.
If someone could relink it that'd be great, if you can advise on a proxy setup for china on WM please Private message me. Thanks

Sounds good
I'll try it tonight when I get home. I have tried almost all dvd converter softwares from Handango and none of them work with Omnia, I can't get full video screen. The only one that works is DVD catalyst 3.
Luego te digo como fue con este. I'll let you know later
Thanks Gracias

Omnia device and DVD convertion
I just tried tonight converting a DVD to mp4 and when I play movie in Omnia device I get message file format not supported even though the movie plays with a good full video resolution screen which is very hard to get with most of the softwares out there but in slow motion, it keeps stopping during the play.
Also how can I get subtitles from DVD? I can only see support for srt .
Thanks a lot

Supported is a long way from native - it looks awful compared to Opera, blocky, gritty images, impossible to read anything without zooming...
The PC equivalent would be playing Quake in 640x480 on a 1920x1200 monitor...
how do you get it to change resolution?
yes okay it looks not as good as opera. but i think this is a really fast browser. i tink i will use this if i have only gprs connection and opera mini gave up
or you can use wvgafix3 to change the resolution =)
Meh stretched VGA =(. Good browser but that's the only bad thing about it, hope they'll change it one day.
shame its not full res on the touch hd.
Have they got sound working on video streams yet ???
this is nothing. still waiting on opera 9.7
Mach5 browser has same speed as skyfire but opera's clearity/resolution. Also, plays videos without any problems.
Here are the changes:
Skyfire 1.0 has a huge number of enhancements over the longstanding 0.9 beta:
* Thumbnail interaction. Now you can click on links immediately after the page loads without having to zoom in. This enhancement is especially helpful for high resolution phones, and for familiar sites where you know right away where you want to click. It makes getting to the content you want on the page simpler, quicker and more efficient.
* Improved Zoom. Double-tap or double-click to zoom over any element, including links, images or videos. The zoom interaction is smoother and more responsive as well. Best of all: when you zoom in you will get readable text instantly (beforehand, text was blurry and took a while to become sharp).
* Enhanced Navigation. When you navigate back or forward, you return to the last viewport (e.g. zoom level and portion of the page). Thus eliminating the need to pan and zoom into the section you were viewing on the previous page. Skyfire remembers even the viewport when you select a page from your history.
* Improved page handling. Enhancements have been made especially for AJAX-intensive sites such as Facebook and Gmail. If larger parts of the page get updated then the client will more quickly and accurately reflect this.
* iFrame handling. There's a solution for full-width iFrames in Skyfire
* Fast start. The developers changed both the sequence and behavior of the Skyfire launch so you get started as quickly as possible. You can type a search or URL in the Superbar while Skyfire is connecting in the background. You can put Skyfire to work before the start page is even loaded.
* Reconnect to last state. When you leave Skyfire in the background, Skyfire will disconnect to preserve battery life. Once you come back to it (after minutes, hours, days) it will reload the same page to the same zoom level and focus. Thus you can continue right where you left off. When you exit and start again, you will always land on the start page.
* Connection helper. There's a new mechanism in place to detect when connections cannot be established to Skyfire servers. If this is due to a network configuration (common in GSM land), then suggestions are provided to help out. This is especially useful if you are with a carrier/data plan that places restrictions on certain APN configurations, which interferes with Skyfire.
* Enhanced search results. Google results now include video, news articles, local results all blended on a single results page and ordered by relevance. Vertical search categories are still available.
* Improved RSS feed search. Find your favorite custom RSS feeds through the improved Add-Feed feature, found under the Customize menu on the start page. Search by site domain, feed URL, or even topical keywords.
* Easier sharing of RSS items from start page. Skyfire has exposed a simple “Share this article” link below each RSS story displayed on your start page to make it easier to share interesting items to Twitter and Facebook
* Remember last connection (Symbian only). Skyfire can now remember the last connection for you, so you will not have to choose a connection every single time. In addition, if you want to change the connection type while you are in Skyfire then you can do so.
sound is included. hm strange if i change the resolution to vga (wvgafix3) the texts and pictures are still noisy -.- dont understand that but i think a higher resolution will be not good for the skyfire servers.
waiting for 9.7
but i think 9.7 will be released end of the year. fennec also....
much better than the Beta's... I actually quite like this.

Hy Chatty,
sorry ... no. ffplay should only be a "test player" to test your ffmpeg libraries. Means, for developers who wanna do a media player and would test their output.

Does this allow you to play avi files in windows media player without coreplayer?
Glad to see you back with this. Now it seems to even play rmvb! Nice
Has some major lags and audio/video sync problems on big files but I'm hoping it'll get smoother. I'm getting some color artifacts and offcentered/clipped image (too bad the videos are scaling to VGA res only and not QVGA).
Would love to see someone do a good GUI for this... Maybe Microfi would like to do it if he ever expands Nitrogen into video (though he seems to be missing from the forum for a while now...).
Anyway good luck with the ffmpeg core development mccoffein.
PS: Also it doesn't position vertical videos well (try grabbing this video... I download it by pressing play and then using FlashGot in Firefox). Don't know if these are core or GUI related.

Big News! rmplugin(not rmsplitter) for tcpmp!!

It's a rmplugin for tcpmp developed by ghosting from pdafans.com(Chinese).
Source: bbs.pdafans.com/viewthread.php?tid=884413&extra=&highlight=&page=1
It was tested on Xda flame with rv40+aac,rv30+cook(low bitrate).
But it didn't play so smoothly with rv40+aac(640*480,25fps,600kbps).
important: try to import the fix.reg while your rm video can't be played.
Sorry for my BAD English....
These are nice news indeed Did the author rlease the source code for this (and if so could you post it here? pdafans doesn't allow to view posts unless you're a member...).
The plugin seems to piggyback on dlls compiled from mplayer by ajeet (version 0.3).
Just tried and it works quite well (apart from a display issue if "Pixel Aspect Ratio" is set to "Auto"... the image becomes too stretched...).
the author said he would release the source code soon.
but until now I didn't see the source.
Maybe the Mplayer on ppc and this rmplugin share the same binary code from real, I think.
in addition, thank you for your introduction to this new mplayer.
Those are good news
TCPMP has been seeing a lot of action lately. bimbam69 did some much needed updates and improvements and even skin support to TCPMP.
ajeet hasn't released his sources yet... Don't know if those plugins can be compiled direcly from mplayer without any modifications... If not we'll have to wait for him to update these components or release the sources.
Sorta works... Sorta doesn't...
Just downloaded, currently testing... So far, the .rmvb files I have will parse, and I can hear the audio just fine, unfortunately I could do the same with my previous rmsplitter plugin. I still cannot see video however. I get the error message "RealVideo9 not supported!" any ideas? Is this an improvement over just the rmsplitter plugin? and if so, which RealVideo formats does it support?
Video works for me...
Try deleting the old rmsplitter and the whole TCPMP registry subkey using a registry editor...

As it turns out, I did not need to delete the subkey, It appears .rm files encoded using RealVideo9 cannot be played, but .rm files encoded using older versions of RealVideo can. During testing, I also noticed that audio and video were out of sync, with the video playing approximately .5 to .7 seconds faster than the audio playback. Also, the video tended to freeze at points with high motion, then jump forward to a almost synced point. Compared to the .rm plugin for PWMP, the video playback is a cut above, smooth and crisp, if a bit choppy. However, the PWMP version has slightly better audio synchronization, with the audio stopping when the video did, even with chop. This plugin is a significant step forward in the area of RealMedia playback, but more testing/development is needed, especially in the areas of removing .dll dependencies altogether, and improving audio/video synchronization though this may be a hardware issue. I am definitely looking at this as a valuable addition to my Master Codec Pack once development is complete.
The video playback portion is done by the dll files that were done by ajeet...
In his thread some users reported they needed to use add LoadModuleLow, 1 (reg name, value) to use them but I personally didn't experince this (did you import the fix.reg file to your registry?). Then again other users in ajeet thread were also not able to watch real video.
ghosting won't be able to update these since ajeet never released the source (also the latest version of wince mplayer doesn't even come with the rv20, rv30 and rv40 dlls).
Actually, I entered all the reg entries manually, and playback works almost flawlessly with lower bitrate files, not perfect, but as I mentioned previously, a significant step foreward. I also had no problems once the reg values were loaded. now what did you mean by: "add LoadModuleLow, 1 (reg name, value)" ?
What I meant was to do exactly what you did (entering those reg keys)...
try to import fix.reg...
Hey great news a new plugin
But unfortunatly I can't get it to play real media files Can you post some test files, because all files i have can't be played. I downloaded some test files from http://service.real.com/realplayer/test/.
Also there is an idea for dev who is workin on it a ffmpeg has its native decoders for realmedia.
@bimbam69
How did you download the files (I couldn't... those were just the streaming protocol links)?
Try mplayer sample database
I've downloaded those files using rmDownloder Anyway thanks for link to some not bad collection of test files
Tried real media videos from there ant some files were played on tcpmp. Plugin works for me without adding reg values.
thank you........

Video Converter with Subtitles support

Hey guys i am trying to find the best solution converting my movies and watching them on htc desire. i have the subtitles into srt files (greek language) but i can't convert a movie into mp4 with subtitles playable. i tried the touch hd encoder but they appear with strange letters. with xilisoft there is no good quality.
if there is anyone that can help me with settings on one of the following programs and how to attach subtitles to desire please help me. i have:
xilisoft video converter ultimate
videora for android
total video converter
Handbrake should do the job. http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
Is it possible to 'hard burn' the srt subtitles in a movie in handbrake? Always thought this is not possible with handbrake..
edit: Check this: http://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/Subtitles
SRT subtitle import – You can import SRT files into HandBrake through the “Subtitles tab”.
o SRT files are pass-through only. They cannot be burnt into the video.
Click to collapse
So what you could do is to find a converter from srt to Bitmap (VOBSUB), and then use that instead. Because handbrake is able to 'burn' those into the video.
OR! Use a player that supports subtitles... Is there one for Android that works properly?
total converter can add subtitles but i can't find a good setting for size and quality. i think the resolution being 800x480 but with low bitrate gives bad result. anyone with good settings ?
some just cant read properly
HandBrake has two methods of subtitle OUTPUT:
• Hard Burn: This means the subtitles are written on top of the image permanently. They cannot be turned on or off like on the DVD.
• Soft Subtitles: This means the subtitles will appear as separate selectable tracks in your output file. With the correct playback software, you’ll be able to enable / disable these subtitles as required.
Please read my quote from the handbrake wiki and stand corrected. The OP wants .srt subtitles in this movie.
So instead of telling people they cannot read please tell us which app can play soft subtitles.
I already thought of the other solution for handbrake, convert the srt's to bitmaps and then hard burn them.
edit: fast google showed you can convert srt to vobsub using SubtitleCreator. Open srt and then save as vobsub. Then use handbrake to convert and add the subtitles to your movie.
As for total converter, I have no idea. Cranking up the bitrate doesn't work? If space is not an issue that is usually the easiest way of getting better image quality.
I have qouted from the link you provided.

Yes, and that continues stating that you cannot hard burn srt files. I have tried and it's indeed not possible. When you import a .srt file the 'burned in' option is greyed out.
Come on man, telling others to read while not doing that yourself is kinda awkward
My 'solution' doesn't work either. Guess handbrake cannot load external subtitles perhaps? I'm sure it works from a dvd, but so far external subs have not been burned into my movies.
Something else you might try is to download 'mVideoPlayer' from the market. Apparantly that one should be able to use .srt files.
Gave it a quick test and it seems to be working! So perhaps this is a better option than to hard burn those subs into your movies.

Use Mp4ForHD.
I use FormatFactory http://www.formatoz.com/
It can embed subtitles, has presets for most devices, unfortunately it doesn't support the native (800*480) resolution of the Desire but being an actively developed (and frequently updated) software I expect it to do so soon.

Most opensource softare is just benefit from free like handbrake. On the other hand, it is difficult to use for beginner, lack support and weak stability. handbrake attend technology and ignore user experience. I consider many other charge program are better than it.

so far the most effective combination that has proved in practice: Rock Player + Video Converter. Unfortunately, both programs must be purchased but the fact that real intelligence work perfectly on dezire HD. I recommend everyone to at least try, as both trials.
Try this
Kigo Video Converter Ultimate is a newly released video converter designed specifically for Mac users to convert nearly all sorts of videos into whatever format they want. As a Mac user, this is really a good news for you.
Google this
Total video converter. this program rock's everithing you can do everithing subs, any format, any res. audio, video, customize video , customize subs just everithing
RockPlayer does support subtitles (.srt, don't know about .sub) and it works flawlessly. You can choose color and size of the subtitle in the settings.
Try mVideoPlayer from the market which is currently free...
Convert your video using whichever method you prefer to MP4 / M4V and copy it to your device (I prefer Handbrake).
Either copy your .srt subtitles to the same folder or else mVideoPlayer can search for subtitles for the video and download them - you just choose whether or not to display them.
It works well on my Advent Vega tablet, but I haven't tried the app on my Desire yet as I am waiting for it to come back from repair after a "bouncing down a flight of stairs" incident!
What are good picture settings and average bitrates for movies in handbrake?
320X240? but what about the average bitrate?
Should i use the hardware or software decoding on rockplayer?
I find MX Player Pro is the best option when I dont have time to convert movies with .srt files. It plays all formats and support subtitle files!

[Q] Converting Video for WP7

Hi all,
just wondering what people are using to convert .avi/.mkv/etc to mp4/wmv/etc so Zune/Wp7 can use them?
ATM i'm using anyvideoconverter and converting the video's to "Zune HD" but it seems to leave a black border of about 5mm around every edge of the video which is really annoying me, so anyone got any other good ones?
Only confirmed ones please, i've used dozens of Conversion apps that say they'd do the job but in reality they don't, so only post if you've used one for WP7/Zune.
Just convert your Video to MP4 or WMV with WVGA resolution.

*EDIT* Just found This Thread which Recommends a GUI for MENCoder called "SUPER". My dealings with MENCoder have been great in the past so i'll give it a go and let others know what it's like.
FWIW the Microsoft way is to use Expression encoder for WMV. It's free, it's nice, and it does a good job encoding, so if you want WMV you should use that one.

I can copy those movies to my PC and watch them, I can watch them on HD2 but zune doesn ot see them so I can not copy them on to phone. They are all in WMV or MP4 format.
MP4 don't work in Zune!

Same problem, I have digital copy's of blu-ray's that came with them, they play using WMV but the Zune Software won't see them and won't play them.
Download 'Expression Encoder'. There's an option to encode specifically for Zune.

Mabe the audio stream?
I was just playing around with this last night, and the biggest issue was the audio stream. While it plays h264 streams up to the High Profile level 3.0, it did not like an AC3 stream. I had to demux a video that I had in an mkv container, convert the audio to AAC and remux into an mp4 container. Microsoft has a whole detailed table of stream type compatibility with bit rates, profiles, etc. I can't seem to post links, so search for it at the msdn dot microsoft dot com under this title "Supported Media Codecs for Windows Phone". The list on the WP7 consumer site sucks btw.
The AAC has two compatible types, AAC-LC and HE-AACv1 or v2.
I used MeGui to redo the audio, and yamb to mux it.
Thanks dgetz, here is the link to msdn.

just wondering what people are using to convert .avi/.mkv/etc to mp4/wmv/etc so Zune/Wp7 can use them?
ATM i'm using anyvideoconverter and converting the video's to "Zune HD" but it seems to leave a black border of about 5mm around every edge of the video which is really annoying me, so anyone got any other good ones?
Only confirmed ones please, i've used dozens of Conversion apps that say they'd do the job but in reality they don't, so only post if you've used one for WP7/Zune.

Seems to work very well
anyone try clonedvd mobile. I have used this in the past with the sony psp settings and gotten very good results, just a very small black strip (maybe 1-2mm) across the top and bottom of the screen (on my hd2).

I can confirm that MP4 works on the Focus, using TV shows previously converted for my iPhone 4
I use handbrake on Windows and Mac to convert my videos, using the settings from
http://lifehacker.com/5572037/handbrake-presets-for-your-new-ipad-or-iphone-4
The results have been good, but using the frame(middle) setting shown in that article does bump up the file size a good amount, and as I'm sure a lot of you have heard, storage space isn't so easy to come by on WP7 yet...
Handbrake
I too can vouch for handbrake. All of the videos I have made for my ipod touch with it work just fine on the Focus. Unfortunately, the library I have for the touch is lower resolution, with videos at about 1/2 DVD resolution and at 500kbps encode rate. I end up with about 500 MB for the about 90 min. It is nice because they don't take up a lot of room, but still look decent. When output to a standard definition TV they look fine as well.
When I first put a few of these home videos on the Focus the lower quality was immediately noticeable. To see how I could push the phone, in my reply above I took a full DVD resolution video 720x400 (16x9 non-anamorphic) and corrected the audio stream. That video looks gorgeous on the Focus screen and is great for showing off the phone. It also takes up over 2.5 GB!!!! It is encoded at a rate of about 2100 kbps. As with any video encoding for a mobile device you have to make your own decision about resolution, encoding rate, etc in that constant game of quality versus size.
One thing to note. If there are black bars on your video, then either you have a video that was not encoded in a proportion that matches your screen or it was hard coded with the black bars. The second thing should be rare nowadays (eliminating this wasted information space was the point of an anamorphic DVD). The first is actually very common. IF your media is a studio movie, almost every action film these days comes at 2.35:1 instead of 16:9=1.77:1. Personally I like viewing any of my content in the way it was originally intended to be viewed and don't ever re-proportion anything. At the moment I am not sure if the Focus/WP7 'stretches' videos. I know on my ipod touch this was an option you could toggle by double tapping the video during playback...
Maybe I will play around with a few options tonight and report back.
have a zunehd and remember seeing this thread on abi
anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58183
it converts the audio of any avi/mkv and keeps the video the same, so converting only takes a few mins, and zune software recognizes it..for the zunehd anyways, maybe someone can try w/ wp7
Since I couldn't find right settings for MediaCoder (best video converter ever).
I was using Prism Video Converter for my Omnia7.
About settings for prism:
For .wmv use as video compresor WMV9 and for sound WMAV9, i am not changing the resolution as it is not bothering me at all. All files (mostly avi or mkv) played smooth after conversion.
If anybody have good settings for MediaCoder I will be much appreciated for sharing.
Thx
Okay, so MP4forHD works. The quality still isn't stunning, but it'll do for now (i guess.) However, i've encountered an issue with contrast. All my blacks appear as dark grays, which drives me nuts
