(High latency) input - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

I just change my phone from my old one (Xperia C3 Dual) to A2 lite, and the first thing I noticed is that every time I scroll, it fell slower/less responsive; It's like you are scrolling something heavier (that what I fell?). My old phone is really laggy, running android 5.1, but still give me the better feeling when scrolling through setting, fb, web,... Is this how most xiaomi phone is like, or is there something with my unit?

I don't think there's something wrong with your unit. I have the same problem too, especially when typing something (for example in WhatsApp)... If anybody knows a fix, please post it.

After some research, there seem to be a same problem on the mi A1.

It sends to this topic here in XDA.
It says that it's a screen problem. You could check the LCD model installed in your device entering the test menu *#*#6484#*#* and doing the first test on the list "Version information". Then you could report it here, so we can check if the problem is related to some brand of screens or not.
For my device, that doesn't seem to suffer this problem at the moment, the screen (and other related hardware) is:
Code:
Board ID:

LCD:

TP:

Have same LCD as you and do not feel there is a problem with the Input latency. But to be honest sometimes the sensor does not register some touch events. It is really occasionally, for example after unlock the phone with the fingerprint and try to swipe right in the launcher, sometimes I need to touch two times, could be probably the unlock animation still does not finish (but I see the launcher).
Sometimes while typing if I do not press exactly in the center of the letter it does not register my touch input.
Could be probably that I had a Huawei y9 2018 with 18:9 (instead of 19:9) and bigger camera and I used to that and needs more time for the a2 lite.

Could be a software issue? I mean not the latency but the not recording touches occasionally.

Yes, I think so, because of it not happening always, and because doing the touchscreen test (from the test menu I posted before) it looks fine.

same problem here i also had this issue on on older redmi note which was fixed by flashing with different firmware.

I can't replicate any of these problems. Maybe I got lucky with the touchscreen model? My version information is the same though..

Happens to me also on home screen with a heavy lwp and typing on messenger. Maybe a cpu or gpu issue? Can't handle the load?

Yay that's the LCD i have

That sounds like a complete dealbreaker...
I was just going to buy the phone tomorrow

I had a similar problem when I had Xposed installed, removed it and now the phone is working great. So if you have Xposed, this is probably your problem.

Can you guys shed some more light on the issue? I am interested how many of you are encountering it and to what level.

No issues here. The phone is smooth, and I neither have Xposed nor Magisk installed.

I have the same problem
Help

i did this , open developer option then tick force gpu rendering and set animation scale to 0.5
it helps to get rid off laggy

anyone using crossbreeder lite (magisk module) on a2lite?

Me too with Mi 6x,
having high latency input and got keyboard typing errors, latency is prominent when scrolling smth even in settings scrolling. I hav compared with redmi note 5 side by side and note 5 did really fast touch TBH...
may b it got fixed by getting miui + touchpanel firmware updates Zzz

multi touch fix for desire?

Hey guys wondering all these Rom makers or Google/htc made any multi touch fix?
With all the custom kernels and open source roms, has any developer attempted to fix this issue?
Would like to play games without on screen keyboard issues due to multi touch, this also affects typing fast.
Thanks
Hardware not software please do some research
Thanks. So does the s-lcd have the same issues?

the type of screen does not make a difference its the bit that lets the phone detect touch that is the issue here.
All HTC devices detect only one touch, and then detect the "size" of that touch which allows it to have pinch zoom when it detects a change in the size.
It cannot detect 2 individual touches.
please delete

you obviously didn't read what I just posted then.
It cannot touch 2 different touches at one, it detects one LARGE touch when two fingers are on, and then when you "pinch" it detects the size of that LARGE touch getting bugger or smaller.
Search for "Multitouch Visible Test" in the market.
That is an app for displaying the detected finger touches.

the desire dosent have multi touch, but dual touch instead, the issues people are having with games is beacause the desire gets confused When two fingers are placed close to each other or they cross the same axis because the data points get flipped, this is because of the way dual touch works, When you touch the screen with two fingers one by one, you get three points of reference: 1) Fixed Point – location of first finger, 2) Real Point – hardware detection point when two fingers are placed and 3) Fake Point – location of second finger. Interestingly, the hardware does not ‘know’ about this position – instead it is calculated by the application.
Is this translated in a hardware level or just driver?

ok then, sorry
And as mentioned you are wrong, as the desire do detect 2 points/fingers. Any multitouch test app from the market will show that.

no, what we have said is correct, the apps show an output but its not true multitouch.
All you have to do is try any multitouch app and do a google search to see all deivces up until now (after desire) made by HTC have dual touch, not multitouch
basically speaking it can detect certain multitouch gestures but not everything.
well i can play sonic and a load of other games and snesoid on the genisoid with run and jump buttons together, which tells me it's at least dual touch, to be honest the screen isnt really big enough to get 3 or 4 fingers on it properly and see what you are doing anyway

or just search on youtube, loads have been done already.
I am not on about the lack of multitouch, there is a bug with two points with two near x, or y, axis points; they join together for some strange reason.
Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noQBUDy-WCQ
This is why multitouch keyboards dont work and there are problems with the PSX4droid emulator when having both dpad and control buttons on top or both on bottom.
I read somewhere that there was code in Android for a that filtered the Droid's multitouch results, that results in the Droid not having the axis flipping issue (does still have the sticking issue when close). Is there any way this code can be implemented on the Desire?

You mean the developer options in the settings? Go to Settings : General : Device info and click some times on the build number. But there will be no software to really test hardware.
There's no need for the rudeness, his answer was legitimate. Most of the issues with the device can only be found through normal usage.
If the device has no noticeable flaws in the build quality, then the next step you could do is to download a 'backlight test' app. Search the play store, there are many.
Expect to see a row of small lights along the bottom of the screen, this seems to be normal for this device.
However many of these apps also allow you to switch between different colours, so you can check for obvious stuck pixels as well.
However all of this is looking for trouble. You'll find backlight bleed under the extreme test conditions, but the only important part is if you notice any bleed during normal usage. In my case, the answer was no.
So if normal usage doesnt show light bleed, and you cant see any stuck pixels, then theres not much else other than using it to see if spmething falls off.
All of this is standard for every phone, tablet, and anything with an LCD screen, there's no unique special tests for the note. Though I would add that you might as well test the pen works, though I've never heard of one failing yet.

Touchscreen delay - anyone else experience this?

Running the latest global beta 7.6.1 ROM just updated tonight... was same on 7.5.16 too
My Google pixel does not experience this.. It is really bad on games too - like Pixel Gun and Minecraft PE
I have similar stuff happening on 7.5.19 Xiaomi EU ROM. But it doesn't bother me.
Basically, I think the ROM gives some tolerance on how far should the initial movement has gone to unlock the pointer from the initial position. Definitely not a hardware problem.
Does anyone else have this issue? I am thinking about returning my MI6.. can anyone else take a video using the multitouch tester like me, and doing a touch and fine movement on the screen without making the circle move? please help! I really need to know if this is just the phone, or whether mine is faulty. thanks so much in advance

Actually the touch is very sensitive, just the way they decide that if you put down the finger like that, no mistouch (no movement is recorded). Whenever I play game, just push enough and move your finger and I have no problem with that (as a habit of gamers, I don't stiched my fingers on the screen that much).
Actually if you put the finger down and move it a little, it move the circle. But if you hard push for longer, slightly move don't move the circle. Hope you can sort it out.
Sent from my MI 6 using Tapatalk
That's what I have suggested to him too.
There shouldn't be a problem if you immediately move your finger upon touch. It's just if you don't move, it'll create some threshold in order to the cursor to be movable from the initial position.
Does the multitouch works good when you are not holding the phone in the hand? try putting the phone on a pilliow and try using 5 fingers on the screen with this multitouch tester app and see if it recognize all 5 fingers.
I had the nexus 7 2013 and it had that problem :/

There's actually no problems at all touching the screen. its only when I touch then drag, I need to move my finger greater than 5mm for it to recognise the finger is moving - if moving the finger slow... Watch the video I posted in first post and you understand.
In a game, for example. playing a FPS game like Minecraft - you select the block you want to remove and then you swipe your finger from that block to the next its very jerky, because the pointer does not unlock with small finger movement. takes big movement then its unlocked. once unlocked its fine - the whole time I don't lift my finger from the screen..
So its really annoying playing games - because I have to touch the screen, then swipe to unlock the pointer, then I can aim and shoot at the enemy or remove blocks in minecraft.
Some have said its the game, but you can also try with the stock launcher - going between screens of apps, you swipe left or right, it takes 5mm finger movement before the screen starts to move to the next..
I tried the inbuilt Finger touch sensor tester, and the touch and move finger 5mm is represented as 2 pixel dots - instead of a line. so something is farked up in the software. I have 2 x MI6 (bought another to test) and both seems the same... Xiaomi need to fix...
Well my Mi 6 is on the way from GearBest China and when i will get it i will install the Global Rom and will try to do this test with this app and will see if i have the same problem as you.
Purchased mine on Gearbest aswell (international rom), came with 8.0.2.0 upgradeable to 8.2.2.0, I upgraded and I have not this problem at all.
Maybe they fixed it with the latest update?

I also have Nexus 7 2013. The problem was jittery touch when you do multi-touch. It's kinda different problem.
But the case in Nexus 7 2013, it can be fixed by pushing the fix via ADB.
Same here.
But i think the developers want it.
I think it is a feature, not a bug. For better usebility.
Yes lol, a feature that we don't really want exactly like the notification light new feature which is that it only have one color - white.

I tested this, on a friends Xiaomi Rednote 4, the touch delay wasn't there as far as we could see, so it doesen't seem to a feature of MIUI, maybe it's a bug or something.
It was running MIUI 8.1 I believe.
If it is a bug, you should ask Xiaomi to fix it.

Clear the data of Battery and performance app. That should do the trick. But it will return when you reboot. I do that in mine a few days and it somehow fixed it self. Now I don't do clear data trick. I'm on 120fps all the way with no color/brightness shift.

I'm not sure, but try disabling "Smoothen transitions" and "Sunlight mode" in Settings > Display > Brightness level, as well as disabling "Adaptive colors" in Color Scheme section.
I remember doing some of this fixed the problem.

No bro it doesn't help it's still the same.
Is this problem fixed in miui 13 ?
Or is this a hw issue which means my unit is defective ?
I have tested in my phone, I can see color changes in the lapse between 60-120hz transition if the color scheme is saturated and adaptive colors is enabled. You need to try with a hard reset, I know is annoying, but we decide to get a Mibuggi phone.
It's happens to me when on arrowos 12 but setting the minimum refresh rate to 120hz fixes it for me, would prefer to have the minimum set the 60hz but this is my only work around

Well I have just spent the past half hour or so trying to reproduce your issue. With 'show refresh rate' enabled in dev options I see no change at all with whatever settings I try. I cannot see or reproduce you issue with my poco f3. However, I am running a custom rom - AICP 16.1.....
I'm not sure if this is the sole reason I don't have your problem, and I'm not saying you don't have a hardware problem. But, why not try a custom rom to see if you can reproduce th issue. I see you have been around XDA for a while so should know your way around flashing a custom rom to check... Might be easier and quicker than sending your phone off for possible repair. Also, one of the first things the repair center may well say (I'm assuming) is to try and factory reset you phone after backing up.
SO, my point is, if you are that worried its a hardware issue, and assuming the service center will just ask you to factory first of all, why not backup as much as you can and try a custom rom... see if it persists.
You can always make a note of what rom version you are running now and download it just in case. Then flash the custom rom and if the problem is still there and you need to send your phone off to the service center, just reflash the original rom locking the bootloader during flash. The service center will never know it has been flashed etc

Question Long press lag on the bottom corners with way less touch responsiveness in most Poco f5 devices

Hey everyone,
recently I bought a Poco f5 and had lag when typing fast and noticed that there was lag in the bottom corners, returned the phone, and got a new one and it has the same problem, I tried another unit from someone and it also has the same thing, it annoys me so much as sometimes while typing fast some keys are skipped because of the slow responsiveness in corners, if it is there for a reason, it shouldn't be affecting the typing experience, it is mostly from the firmware but idk tbh, I had the same thing in a mi 11 ultra and sold it, the problem isn't with specific apps, it is within the whole system (probably most poco f5 phones have that thing).
How to check if you have the same issue: go to CIT and go to touch test then long press the x in the bottom corners and compare it with the top corners.
things I have tried but none worked :
1- flashing xiaomi.eu.
2- resetting the phone.
3- changing long-press delay in settings to short.
4- changing the navigation gestures.
5- searching online for other fixes.

Similar behaviour in Nova Launcher, not noticable in every day life. As another person mentioned I didnt even notice this before seeing this post.
Could be some sort of edge palm rejection thing? And solved in future updates/custom ROMs?

yeah, but one click isn't as responsive as anywhere else, long clicks are annoying when holding "a" down and when pressing shift and also when pressing the symbols switch button are not as responsive too. it is especially annoying when you make your keyboard smaller and less shifted up thus more keys are closer to these corners which affects typing experience even more. I can't even stand typing on the phone after coming from oneplus 7 pro which was much much more responsive to type on and almost 4 years older, maybe because I type fast and used to better responsiveness I notice it easily.

I am afraid that it is a firmware or kernel thing.

it is not in the launchers only, it is everywhere within the system (worse responsiveness in bottom corners).
