[Help] Is there anyway to change height of status bar for notch device? - Treble-Enabled Device Questions and Answers

I've recently installed the Phh-Treble ROM on the Essential Phone but the status bar doesn't fit with the notch
Is there anyway to change the height of the status bar?

Did you try changing the display size?

Until I sold the PH-1, I used stock rom instead of any others Treble rom because I couldn't change the status bar height

I created a custom overlay to fix it. Extract the zip, and move the file and folder to /vendor/overlay with your favorite root explorer (I use MiXplorer)
After that reboot, enable developer options, go to developer options, and enable display cutout
It also enables adaptive brightness

The "proper" way to do it (i.e. if you want it to be integreated in GSIs), is doing a "GSI overlay":
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...guide-how-to-make-gsis-overlay-file-t3878974/
The specific values for status bar height are litteraly called status_bar_height (and _portrait and _landscape)
You'll want to define the notch layout also for apps to pick it up.
Here is an example:
https://github.com/phhusson/vendor_hardware_overlay/blob/master/OnePlus/OP6/res/values/notch.xml

Hey phhusson, on a related note - are GSI overlays integrated into the system.img, or do I have to add it manually somehow? (I ask because I can see a ASUS Zenfone 5 overlay in the github repo, but none of the GSIs I tried seemed to respect the notch.)

On-screen buttons using buid.props results in an empty bar

So I have a Samsung tablet (SM-T800) and I have it rooted running the stock rom. I really want to enable on-screen buttons and disable the hardware buttons (I keep hitting them by accident all the time when I read comic books. I hate them).
So all the instructions I've see have invovled editing the
Code:
build.prop
and adding
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
. When I do that and reboot, I get a black bar at the bottom of the screens in most of my apps with no buttons on it. I assume this is the on-screen nav bar, but for some reason, all the buttons (Home, back, app select) are missing. I know on my phone where I run Cyanogen, you can customize which buttons show up. I was wondering if this was configurable somewhere and if, in Samsung's stock rom, they disable all of them? Or is it something else entirely?
What am I missing?
If you have xposed there is a great app called Ultimate Dynamic Navbar 23.2 that will allow you to have the navbar in portrait or landscape.
To disable the hard keys you need to edit Generic.kl in system/usr/keylayout

xposed says the framework isn't supported on my architecture. Surely this has to just be a setting somewhere in the stock rom?

Wrong framework, you need Arter97 builds and a deodexed rom.

Yea, I don't want to do that. I have the stock rom setup the way I want. I really don't want to wipe it. Surely there must be a way to get the on screen buttons working on the stock rom?

Navbar height

Is there a way to decrease the height of the navbar?
Before I used Gravitybox to do so but no longer possible because I upgraded to Nougat.

Stock is 48dip. How small do you want it? Here is my thread and there are probably others that do it as well.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/themes-apps/mods-7-1-1-official-statusbar-navbar-t3515355
Thanks! Despite searching quite some time I didn't come across your thread. Will give it a try asap. 3 questions:
Even if I only want smaller navbar, I still need to flash the minit app and the signature file?
And what's the difference btw navbar and dynamic navbar?
Will the stock nougat navbar tweaks still be available afterwards?

If all you want is a smaller navbar, in the Aroma options, just choose the size you want. The navbar size is a framework mod and does not require the base. However, for anything else to work you must flash a base first or you systemui will fc. After flashing a base you will need to choose the navbar height you want again. The base is 36 dip.
The 3 Minit resources app is only necessary if you choose to flash the 3minit mod. Dynamic navbar is where your navbar changes to the same color as the statusbar but it doesn't work for all apps. Signature disable can help make your System easier to mod by disabling signature checks.

Increased status bar icon spacing after PIE update

After upgrading MI A2 Lite to android P i noticed that space betwen notification icons in status bar (to the left of notch) was increased.
As a result, the number of icons that can be displayed without the appearance of the point (that mean further incons hidden) was reduced from 3 to 2. thus, when i have 3 or more notifications, only one icon is displayed plus the point. that is very ugly for me.
I want to know if there are a way to edit that "value" changed. I was exploring the "systemui tuner" app, but there isnt an option for this setting.
Anyone have some idea? My device is not rooted but im considering to do it very soon.
Im attaching an image to compare.
Thank you!

You are right. That, adding to those annoying arrows icons besides network, make status bar useless.
Mi a2 lite Status bar bugs
In addition, Android p experience is great so far on Mi A2 lite but there's still an issue with status bar.. Previously on oreo,The height of the notch and the status bar were equal but after pie update the status bar height overpasses the notch leaving a black space (of like 2 to 3 mm) in between the notch and the quick settings panel This is clear once you pull down the quick settings panel as shown in the attachment below??,, is this a bug or? Or is there a way to adjust that space without root
This is the most annoying thing I've found in Android P. You can't almost see any notification. Does anyone know if this is editable somehow?

You can in the developer options -> "smallest width" the DPI screw.
I have it e.g. set to 512. Now, next to the clock, there are 4 more icons to match.
If the desktop is too small, most launcher users can set custom icon and font sizes.

Simple Way To Get System UI Tuner On Android P Preview (Without Installing Nova Launcher Or Using ADB Commands)
1. Download QuickShortCutMaker
2. In the search bar (in the app) type in "Demo Mode"
3. Click on the "System UI" option
4. Click on the "System UI demo mode" option that appears after clicking on "System UI"
5. Click the "Try" button
There you go, you can now access the system UI tuner again, without having to install nova launcher
http://www.kepfeltoltes.eu/view.php?filename=469notch.jpg
5. A2Lite Settings, display, special, displayed size, minimum value
Best way to handle this
Hey guys i had the update yesterday and always had a tiny white dot popping up instead 4G symbol and the vibration mode symbol...extremely annoying as i first thought i have some hidden notifications!!
Forget about Nova Launcher or any **** just download and install UI Tuner Launcher from the PlayStore. Actually it is a shortcut to the system UI. Open it, go the status bar, battery - battery percentage only when loading (my system is in german so i don't know the exact words for this option). That's for now the best option! The problem are these silly down and upload arrows beneath the connection symbol! I found no option to remove them! If you pull down the status bar battery percentage is still shown at the top so you can always check if you want an accurate battery status!
Another option is maybe to set the font size to minimal as the battery percentage in standard font size is extremely huge
Let's hope for another update on this issue!
PS: ho to upload pictures here?
thanks for the tip "UI Tuner Launcher" but it doesn't solve the initial issue of this topic...
I have the same issue,, if someone know how to fix it please tell us
sorry
ah yeah sorry!
than actually change screen settings (font, depth etc...) to minimal or in the dev.opt. as described above! 512 dpi! theres nothing else in the moment!
i think there is a way... the space could be modified by editing the value in "status_bar_icon_padding" of the file SystemUI/res/values/dimens.xml
But for it is required to decompile SystemUI.apk > edit > recomplile and inject it to the system partition. my device is not rooted yet, but i will do it and test this soon.
I found a little solution for our problem, but only into rooting phone: download the apk file https://apkpure.com/disable-network-activity-indicator-rro-8-0-only/com.keypressure.disable_network_activity_indicator, rename the file in "com.keypressure.disable_network_activity_indicator.apk" ,put in system/app, edit the autorizzation in rw-r--r-- and reboot the phone.
After the boot the arrow keys they should missing. The apk is a little app "Disable Network Activity Indicator RRO (8.0 Only)" that you can find in the play store, only that are impossible installing to Pie because is working only for Oreo.
With to the system wich I described, it working also in Pie.

"Hiding" the notch in stock rom, guide [root/Magisk]

I'm a big hater of the "Notch", so after a bit of search, finally found a way to hide the notch the same way it is possible in MIUI/EMUI systems (basically moving the notification bar down, and having a completely black line on top that hides the notch).
You need to have Magisk installed properly, then install Pix3lify (FULL) module. After reboot in the Settings->System->Developer options menu, under the display cutout option, the "Hide" option will be available (it's not present on the stock rom witouth pix3lify module).
I can't

Question Font change on OOS 11?

How have you guys been changing system fonts on OxygenOS 11 across the device? I tried using the CFI magisk module and only notification titles and the status bar seem to have changed fonts, and nothing else. Thanks

Please note you have to choose "Roboto" at Settings -> Customization -> Font.
Also OnePlus uses special colon "U+A789" for lock screen clock, so you may get square character if your font doesn't have it.
Try this. It works well and also have themed my emojis allowing me to get my good ol handgun back. https://www.androidacy.com/font-manager-is-out-in-beta/
^like that handgun emoji better than mine

Can you elaborate on which files do we need to modify for the clock colon? There's a magisk font mod I like that contains like 30+ ttf files, I changed the roboto-regular.ttf, flashed it and the problem remains. Btw ur font mod is pretty good for Chinese user too!

You have to mod all weights (light, bold...) since SystemUI uses different weight for the clock.
If there is no other weight, maybe you have to add them by yourself to the module.
