Disappearing Play Store Apps - Amazon Fire Phone

Friends,
Got an unlocked ATT unit and side loaded unlocked Fire OS 4.6.3. Loaded Play Store according to the instructions on the forum. Everything seemed to be working well. Gmail, maps, and wallet all working great. But, my apps keep disappearing.
For example, I download Facebook from Play Store. Shows up where it should. Put it into a folder with my other social media apps. About a day later, the app disappears from the "device" side (removed from folder/no icon under device tab), shows up in the "cloud" side with a check in bottom right corner to show it's installed. From there, I can open and use the app. Play Store also shows the app installed.
Auto update is off in Amazon App Store. Any idea what's going on?

If you have an app from the Amazon app store on your device or in your Amazon cloud and you update or install the same app using the Google Play Store, the app may not work or the app may disappear from your device. To correct the problem, uninstall the app and delete the app from your Amazon cloud, then reinstall the app using the Google Play Store.

Thanks for the reply. The Play Store was installed right after I sideloaded 4.6.3., so there were no overlapping apps on the device. To "delete the app from [my] Amazon cloud" I toggled the cloud/device slider to "cloud," wrote a list of the apps I wanted to keep/install from play, then long-held and clicked "Remove from Cloud." At the time I clicked the Remove from Cloud option, no app had the check mark in the bottom right corner signifying that it was installed on my device.
Is there another method I should use to actually remove from cloud or get Amazon to forget that I ever installed the app on my device?
Update: I accessed my the app management page on Amazon from a laptop. It appears the effect of clicking "Remove from Cloud" from the device, is to "archive" the app, rather than actually delete it from one's Amazon account. From there, one can go to the app in the list--for my example, Facebook--follow "Actions">>>"Delete this app">>>"Delete">>>and a confirmation message "Facebook has been deleted from Your Apps." Will display. I will try this with my disappeared apps and report back.

Deleting the apps from your Amazon cloud should be enough. I have never had a problem with an app from Google after I deleted the app from my Amazon cloud. If you continue to have a problem with any of your Google apps that are archived on Amazon, then you should delete the archived app and see if that corrects the problem.

[Q] New nexus 7, no "installed apps" in play store

My dad just got a nexus 7, his first android device, yesterday. I was over there helping him set up, and noticed a couple weird things...
First of all, the wifi bars seem to go back and forth between blue bars and gray bars. Odd, as my galaxy nexus always shows the blue wifi bars, so I believe the wifi connection is fine.
The other issue is, when I go to the play store and go to "my apps", there was nothing listed. It's been a while since I've seen a new Google account in the play store, but shouldn't the pre-installed apps be showing up there? (gmail, youtube, google search, etc.)
When I searched for the gmail and youtube apps, they showed that they had an update, but shouldn't they be automatically updating?

Only "User Installed Apps" will show in My Apps. System/stock apps wont.
Also if you want to Auto-Update apps, Open Play Store, go to Settings and check the Auto_Update option.
Hope this helps!

From Play Store, you can also go to "My apps" > "All" and you'll see all apps installed on your older devices :good:
That's what I did to have all apps installed in my old Galaxy Tab (dead at this time).
Hope this can help.

I believe the auto update setting is enabled, but I'll have to make sure on that.
If the first part is true, how do the pre-installed apps get updated? Would his tablet be sitting on the same version of the Gmail app for a year and a half, until I go out and manually update it for him? And then it would be able to auto-update itself after that point? If so, that doesn't seem very user friendly.
Like I said, it's been a while since I started with Android as a new user, so maybe some of my confusion is just due to the fact that my google profile has updated all of these apps in the past?

That's just it... This is his first Android device, so he has no history yet
If you're still on 4.3 and your WiFi bars are changing from blue to gray then it means that you have a bad connection. Basically the phone pings Google servers and if it gets a response then it'll be blue. If it doesn't then it'll be gray.
In 4.4 Kitkat, it'll always be white now.

They DO show up there. You're just looking at the wrong list. There are two tabs at the top of "My Apps" page (Installed and All). "Installed" just shows you the ones you (manually) installed yourself. Click the "All" tab to see the pre-installed system apps.
That list shows everything, including apps that have been deleted.

Hmm. Something isn't right. Try installing a new app (then uninstall it if you don't want it), and see if anything shows up then.

I did manually update some of the apps when I was over there (gmail, youtube, maps, etc.), and after that, they showed up in both lists.
Maybe I'm just crazy and forget what a new account looks like on the "My Apps" / "All Apps" page, before you install anything from a new account?
There was a problem with a recent Google Play Services update. I can't remember how I fixed it but I think I disabled Google Play services and uninstalled updates.
The problem that I am having is that when I sign on to the Play store from my computer, my Nexus 7 doesn't show up in My Devices. So when I want to load an app from my browser on my computer, my Nexus 7 doesn't show up as a device I can send the app too. However, it does show up in the Android Device Manager and it locates my location successfully. What setting am I missing to make my device show up?
What's everyone on about? Most (all?) of the stock apps on my Nexus 7 (stock 4.3) show up under Play Store > My Apps > Installed.

I think someone's device is somehow not syncing with their google account
@talz13 and @Paten In your system settings, check Accounts/Google and see what it says for when you last synced.
I checked the settings for the Google account and it synced about an hour ago. When I look at all my apps on the device, everything shows up as it should, it's just when I look at the play store on the web my Nexus 7 doesn't show up as a device I can load apps too.
Originally, the device didn't show up in the Android Device Manager on Google either but I went into the Google Settings on the device and turned on the correct settings to locate the device and reset it remotely. Then it showed up correctly when going to the Android Device Manager web page on my computer.

I'll check that next time I get over to my parents house.
In the meantime, I checked on my dad's play store account, and it shows apps under the "My orders" page, which is good. However, his nexus 7 doesn't show up under the devices page. And if I browse to install an app from the web, it says "/!\ You don't have any devices"
Anything that I should check on this? Could it be related to the flaky blue / gray wifi bars indicating sync trouble with Google?

[Q] Unable to open Kindle App

I'm running my KFHD 7" with Kinology 3.3 - my Amazon account is currently not registered to the device so I only have my Play apps (no Amazon apps) showing in the app drawer. If I register my Amazon account, the Play apps disappear and the Amazon apps appear, then vice versa when I de-register the Amazon account, with no data loss when I do this. With previous versions of Kinology the Amazon and Play apps used to co-exist together with no problem. I'm not actually bothered about the Amazon apps, but for some reason I cannot open the Kindle app from the Play store - it gives me the 'open' button in the Play store and it's showing as an installed app but it's not showing in the app drawer and it won't open. Obviously the 'Books' carousel doesn't work because it's not registered to my Amazon account. I don't want to have to keep registering/de-registering every time I want to read a book on it - any ideas on this one?

TWC TV app

Does anyone know to make TWC TV app work on FTV? I side loaded the app from Google Play store. It installs fine. But when I try to open it, it will automatically prompt me to upgrade or cancel. If I cancel, it shuts down. If I upgrade, it takes me to the Amazon App Store and gives me the option to install it for free. I click on "Free" and the error message says "TWC TV is incompatible with your device. You cannot purchase this app from this device".
My app version is 3.5.0.36.
Problem with APK downloader. Fixed.
Rechecked the version on Google Play store and the version number listed is different (as in higher than the one I have on FTV). Opened Google Play app on FTV and ran the upgrade and everything runs fine now.
The online APK downloader gave me an older version for downloading (using the website and not the chrome extension). Must be some caching going on within their servers to not to go to Google Play store if it already has the APK in its inventory. If so, there is a bug within their version checking algorithm that allows old cached APKs to be presented as latest.
I just got this side loaded onto a FireTV Stick and I can login and get to the search screen and where is asks me to select guid DVR or live TV but I can't select any of the options to watch live tv... did you manage to get it working?

[Q] App updates

I have auto app updates turned off. How do I know if there is an update available for an app?
I am assuming you are talking about turning off updates in google play settings in FTV. The only way to know of updates is to open google play and go to your Apps in the top left menu. It should show all available updates for your installed apps (only those apps that are "compatible", so run the Market Helper before you attempt this). Also, and I could be wrong, it will only show updates for apps that you have installed from the play store, and not side loaded ones (paid or otherwise).
I mean in FTV settings/apps.
I have turned auto updates off so how do I know when an update is available for an app that I installed via FTV?

If you go to Your Apps Library via the default launcher, you can highlight Icons of your apps. Underneath it is 2 boxes, the one on the left should always say "More Info" Click that, and then on the page that shows, if there is an update , it will say it, or it will say Open.
Yes, this is annoying and I only found it by accident. And as far as I can, Amazon doesn't automatically update anything even if you have it on. At least it doesn't on my AFTV.
Found it. Thank you.

[Q] Snapchat for Fire OS 4.6.1

I recently sideloaded 4.6.1 for Fire Phone and got the necessary files for Snapchat, yet when I try to sign it, it does not sign in. It does not even load, the circle spins for infinity.
On the previous public OS, I had snapchat, but kept getting the Google Play services has stopped message, which is why I updated my phone. The message no longer appears, but I can't sign into Snapchat.
I updated my phone as of yesterday. Help??
Is there a reason you want the play store version as opposed to the amazon app store version? Some apps that are offered on both seem to misbehave unless you choose the amazon one.

Since I have noticed the same, that some apps that are offered on both stores seems to misbehave unless you choose the amazon one, I think that is preferable to install the APPs from the Amazon APP Store...
However, I also have noticed that almost all the APPs updates first on the Google-Play-Store!
The app should update via the store it was downloaded from, amazon updates are specific for the amazon environment.

Snapchat is not available on the Amazon App Store.
Can anyone offer some advice??
I don't mean to be rude or anything, but can someone please respond? Is anyone else having this issue?
Sorry for triple post, but I noticed the update on the play store makes the play store have a white screen? I kind of doubt it's connected to the snapchat issue
There's a bunch of threads about this issue already. There is a problem with the Google Play Service. Snapchat uses the Google Play Service so that's why it stopped working.
You can get Snapchat to temporary work by doing something like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60266619&postcount=21
But it won't stay working forever since your Google Play Service will keep trying to update to the bugged one.
But I won't be able to even sign in because of the message "You need Google Play Services" will pop but, not allowing me to close it. Also, note that I am on 4.6.1, while that is a fix for 3.6.8
Has this been confirmed by anyone who's tried to use Snapchat?

Yes. I also have the same problem. I am also on 4.6.1.
I will say it again. There is a bug with Google Play Service right now. There's a bunch of threads about this right now. Snapchat only works if you are able to get an old version of Google Play Service with an old version of Google Play Store on your phone. There is some tricks to get your Google Play Service to not update which is mentioned in the other threads. If you have a white screen or the "You need Google Play Services" notice popping up, that means you have the latest version of Google Play Service which has the bug. It will not work on your phone until Google fixes this problem.
My apologies I could have sworn I saw that on there

Got SnapChat working on 4.6.1 OS
Okay, I have no clue why what I did made everything work, but it did. I got SnapChat, YouTube, Hangouts, everything working on 4.6.1. I'll explain everything I did since I have no clue what exactly made it work, but I'll explain everything up to when it started to work.
1. First you'll need to download an app in the appstore called "Advanced Permissions Manager".
2. You wanna download the usual Account Manager > then Google Play Services 7.0.99 > then Google Services Framework > then Google Play Store 5.4.12.
3. As soon as you sign into Google Play Store, you wanna go into settings and turn off "App Installation" so the Google Services doesn't update.
4. Go on the app you downloaded in step one called "Advanced Permissions Manager", then go to All Apps > SnapChat > then uncheck "find accounts on the device" (located under "Your accounts").
5. Push Save & Re-Install. (May need to hit uninstall and install again on the window that might pop up, if nothing pops up then ignore these parenthesis.)
6. Hold the power button for about 5 seconds and hit restart.
7. Once you load back up and try SnapChat, it shouldn't ask you to update Google Services and will let you sign in as usual.
***I seen that doing this broke Google Play Store, but that's the only thing different I've noticed. You can always download 1mobile and get the apps you need afterwards off of there I'd assume.

I did everything you said, now when I go to log into Snapchat, it closes itself... better than infinite loading I suppose.
