can you burn a different country rom? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I just bought my G3 and I want the "V10L" upgrade.
But my software version currently says "V10i-TWN-XX"(and the android version is 4.4.2).
Can I burn a different .KDZ(let's say A6NR because I have the 16GB model)?
And if so, how? Anything special I have to do in the process?

Short answer, yes you can.
I see this is your first post, so i suggest you read the forums rules (especially Number 1.) before asking a question like this, as your questions have already been asked and answered many times before.

Bootloader 1.00 to 2.01 changelogs

Hi everyone
I was told that the bootloader is comparable with a bios on a pc mainboard.
that's why I'd like to know the whole changelog from version 1.00 to the latest 2.01.
Does anyone know that? is it worth to upgrade? does anyone know how to upgrade?

you really dont want to do that, unless you want a brick.
bootloader 1.xx is for g3 phones
bootloader 2.xx is for g4 phones
put the wrong one on and you have a brick.
If you look around on this forum you'll be able to find every answer.

That's no so right.
One friend of mine put bootloader 2.01 on mda/qtek 9000 and pda stuck on splash screen.
Using mamaich code suggestion (with mtty: task 28 55aa) the brick is again a pda

If I'm not wrong 1.2 for g3.
Anyway is'nt important from version 1.0 above.
There was problem between btl v.0.56 and Aku 2 because were uncompatible.
From version 1.0 there are not problem.
If you loock for radio stack on wiki page you can find more explanations

hi guys,
just wondering, is it necessary to have latest bootloader to load either AKU3.5 or WM6?
Cheers,
imatrix
you need 1.xx for aku 2.2+ (or 2.01 if you have g4)
only 0.XX are not compatable

Question... what's the difference between g3/g4? Is it hardware related?
How can i check bootloder version of my jasjar?
Yes it's hardware, i think its the ASIC3 chipset version.

O2 just sent me a replacement phone, its a g3 whereas my previous was a g4...
Is the difference worth me chasing them for a new handset? (I'm thinking YES?)
Yeah, What's a G4 Phone? From what I read it is supposed to be a revised format of the ROM so it has a different format of nk.nbf file. I'm probably wrong... not sure
I know some people would argue that the G4 version of Universal is faster and more stable, but I would like to see some evidence for that first.
G3 and G4 are both the version of the DOC (disk on chip) in the universal. It serves as the main flash memory on which the OS and the Exteneded ROM resides.
G3 vs G4
How does one see which version the device is? Im experiencing random hang-ups om my Uni, running helmi's 1.1 and radio 1.14.

[Q] Telus desire HD ?

Hello, i'm quite new to the android system. I've browsed through quite some of the threads, and there are somethings i dont quite understand..
Please help me address them.
What is the difference between a telus desire HD and a htc desire hd? Are they the same?
How do i check if my phone version is eligible for rooting ?
What is a ROM ?
They are not the same.
Telus Desire HD is from Canada.
Both the Telus Desire HD and European Desire HD can be rooted.
A ROM is a essentially a customized version of Android that differs from the stock ROM that comes with your phone.
Heres a tip, do a search for Telus in Q&A and in Development section and you'll find most, if not all your answers after this.
Okay..
So how do i know if mine is a telus or not?
I got my phone in Singapore. Any way to check ?
Thanks for the ROM info btw.
I'll bite.
Telus is a service provider. Like Rogers, Bell, Orange, etc. If you got your phone from Singapore, there's no possible way for it to be a Telus phone unless the person you bought it from imported the DHD from Canada and sold it back to you.
as someone had mentioned, telus DHD is from canada. yours definitely is the general htc set.
Alright.. So is there any way to root a general htc DHD ?
I want to root it so bad.
You need to learn how to read stickies and guides on a forum. I bet you came right in here expecting answers without reading. Am i correct?
The telus version is hspa and is more like the inspire 4g
Sent from my Desire HD running Leedroid @ 1.8GHz using XDA app

For your info, i did read up. I just dont understand the terms that are used. There are so many things, and as i said, i'm really new to android phone and system.. And i'm not really a technical guy, so i really need help from you guys.
Please bear with me, i'm trying real hard to understand what you guys are posting. And of course, i wouldn't wanna put my phone at risk if i dont know anything about it right ?
So yeah..
And thanks for the " Spoon feed " Gouki. Appreciate it. Will definitely read up on it.
So, another question, what do custom ROMs do to your phone ? How does it differ from the original ROM ?
Different dev create different ROMs.
Cosmetics like splash, bootup, bootdown.
Sense or no-sense,
different Overclock speed/capability.
And some have different apps. (Modaco with Wavesecure).
Etc...
Okay, i read the forum about putting a new ROM into your phone.
In order for me to do that, must i root my phone ?
Can the general DHD be rooted ?
Yes and yes.... the beauty of Android is the ability to mess around with the software. TUnfortunately messing up and learning for yourself goes hand in hand with it.
AWESOME. Thanks alot cue. You've been a great help.
Now... im going to check how im going to root my phone. Still kinda worried about what will happen to my phone if i do it wrongly.
My phone, is, REALLY, REALLY slow. Like seriously.
Oh yes, how do i check my phone version so that i can see if i need to downgrade it ?
And, can http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954997 this be used to help me root and flash a new ROM ? Will there be any difference in the rooting procedure ?
As said, if you got your phone from Singapore then it shouldn't be a Telus DHD.
You can check your version from Settings —> About Phone —> Firmware Version.
If you have a higher version than 1.32.405.6 you need to downgrade. Instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
After that you can use this guide to root and flash whatever you want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
This info isn't so hard to find...

[Q]Desire HD Latest Software Build?[Q]

Hi there XDA, I've asked a similar question to this before, however since then some things have changed and it's got me wondering, what the hell is going on over at HTC with these software build numbers?
I recently aquired a replacement phone from Orange UK for a Desire HD. The software version on the phone I sent to them was 1.32, however the phone I recieved was running a software version of 1.72, I know for a fact that when I sent that phone to them, there were no updates available, and the thing is, it's a door to door thing. Both handsets are exactly the same, they are both de-branded yet have an Orange logo on the back.
It's sorta fustrating because I know that one of these builds i clearly the one I should have, but I don't know which is which, would someone be kind enough to explain and point me in the right direction of the ROM i should flash? Thanks, and btw im in the UK.

If you want to root etc it would be easier on the 1.32 version but is still easy to do on the 1.72 version, you just use a different approach.
All the answers you need are in the development forum. Don't need to put a link here for you, it's not hard to find. Alternatively, use the link in my sig.
What ROM you SHOULD flash is up to YOU. YOU decide what one YOU like the most.

Is it possible to Flash Google edition Rom onto my Gpad

Hi Guys,
Perhaps a little bit of a noob Question however I have a UK G-Pad V500
Is it possible to flash the google edition Rom onto my gpad?
I currently have stock kitkat lg rom
Perhaps this has been answered elsewhere however unable to find anything on this myself?
If yes then where can I download the Rom and some instructions on how to do it
I'm used to flashing roms on samsung devices but new to the world of LG
Thanks in advance
NO. I don't know how you missed this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564149, the final answer is that it can be done, at least not by the devs that tried. I see you also missed the "NO QUESTIONS IN THIS FORUM" thread, but I'll let you slip that one.

My apologies,
I'm at work and perhaps not paying enough attention to everything
Thanks for the link

[Q] 4.5/5 Betas, and Windows Phone 8.1

Hi Guys,
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong spot, but this looked like the most applicable forum for these Watson's:
1. Is there any way to install Android 4.5 or Android 5.0L beta, like is possible with the Nexus, on the HTC One M8?
2. I've asked this before, but thought it might be worth asking again since things may have changes: given the nature of the bootloader being the same for the Android and Windows models, is there, or could there be, a way of installing Windows Phone 8.1, on an Android M8? I found some "Change my software" application, but I assume it's a fake, and really malware.
Thank you for reading my question, and please let me know if my post for the guidelines for this forum.
Kind Regards,

Ok, firstly this is a question and should have been posted in the Q&A section.
Secondly, the golden rule in XDA is "Search".... there are threads in the General section for both Android L and W8.1. These will give you all you need to know.
I'd just moved this thread over to Q&A and then noticed you'd created a thread there already so I deleted the 2nd thread considering this is now in the right place
