G3 and Cyanogenmod - T-Mobile LG G3

Does anyone know who our maintainer is? Just curious who I should be stalking on twitter/G+. Curious to see how well this thing performs on AOSP.

I would Twitter g+ would be the place to look

Is it still RC who maintains LG devices?

I would also be curious to see CM on the G3, but this is the first phone I've had that didn't make me want to flash another rom right away. Xposed + G3 TweakBox + Nova Launcher makes it just about perfect imo.

Perhaps so, but
1. That says more about Touchwiz than anything.
2. This is my first LG smartphone, so I have no other frame of reference to compare, and the G3 UI is actually tolerable. Which is more than I can say for most of the other phones I've owned.
Just my $0.02

Yeah I own almost every phone that comes out.... currently I own the M8, One plus One and G3 from the android side. I keep switching between all three and still I can't pick a clear winner since they all are awesome to use it on a daily basis. From the LG side this is the first phone I actually like and planning to keep for little long because their previous UI was horrible and cartoonish and this one feels so much better polished. As far as the S5 and touchwiz I couldn't tolerate the damn thing even for a week.

Yeah I bought a OnePlus One from craigslist but I have not opened it yet...I am waiting for the screen cover to arrive. Plus, the G3 does everything I want it to do. I may flip the OPO, I haven't decided yet. I'm just not as hard up for It since I got the G3.

You can potentially get a few extra minutes with a custom kernel, but battery life is primarily determined by usage habits, which varies with each person.

Agreed! I've also felt like the S4 is a bit flimsy by comparison. When I hold my G Pro it feels solid and sturdy. When I hold my girlfriend's S4 it just feels light and cheap. Having all kinds of Dev and ROM support would be nice, but the LG Software isn't as bad as TW and we've got thecubed hard at work cracking the bootloader open.
Until Samsung steps up their build quality I'll be sticking with other manufacturers.

When I do that it gives me a listed of suggested contacts to join. Its nice but not as robust as any other phone I've used. Basically if the name doesn't match between the different contacts it won't suggest joining them, and it doesn't give you an option to join manually. For example my mother. I have her contact listed as mom, but her Facebook profile is by her real name. It doesn't list her in suggested for this reason, so I can't join the two contacts.

I had the S4 and I sold it and bought the G Pro and love the G pro Better because the more customization and that cool led notification around the home button I rooted, but I will probably never put a custom rom on it:good:
You can't because there's nothing available. I have both phones and I gotta say that I hate not being able to install custom roms. Also when it comes to updates, LG sucks. It took over a year for LG to release ICS for Thrill. Even then, the ROM still sucks and still outdated. It's slow as hell. The OGP has somewhat up to date ROM now, but I'm afraid that it'll be stuck at 4.1.2 forever while the S4 is enjoying the unannounced 4.3.
Just because it's leaked doesn't mean it'll get 4.3 anytime soon. As for this phone, better than the rest in my opinion. Gs4 is good but I couldn't stand the lag and even though had custom Rom on it I couldn't help but be annoyed by the samoled screen, especially after owning the nexus 4. Regardless of when we will get custom roms, this phone is still badass the way it is. Stock Rom updates, who needs em? Majority of us are going to install custom anyways and those we don't want to do custom just root.
This phone is the ****!

Considering the Optomus G pro but...

Hey guys thinking of upgrading to this phone and I love the look, feel, and features of this phone, but it doesn't look like you guys have much going on in the way of development? I'd be coming from the Samsung Infuse, so I'm a bit spoiled, when the phone was newer lots of developers were building and porting custom roms, and currently there are about 4 variations of updated (Android 4.1+) roms in development. Currently I'm on Beanstalk for the Infuse (android 4.3) which is a great rom with tons of customization.
I wouldn't mind learning and developing myself but with the apparent shortness of developers this could be slow going. Am I missing something here, is there just not a lot of development because this is a relatively new device, or is it a hard or impossible device to hack?

I came from the note 1 so I know the feeling...but I gotta tell you the stock software is really that good...I don't really miss any of my custom roms I use to run..the only thing I do miss is my theme on the theme engine.
Once cm10 gets closer we may see more since most roms are based off it but who knows.
I wouldn't expect development like what you're use to but like I said I don't miss it at all..
Hopefully the Nexus 5 will have a 5" screen like the rumors suggest and I can finally get a nexus device.
Yeah there a cm10.1 thats almost a daily. Pretty much everything works just a few bugs. There are repositories for a slimbean 4.3 on github but idk how far along that is as there been no release. And over in android forums there a guy working on a stock debloated deodexed rom and the bootloaders only been bypassed for a month or so. It took a while to get it unlocked but development has been goin pretty well since then. Just gonna take time.

Well like mrdsl said cm10 is the base for many of the good rom anyway and its almost done so I would expect to see development pick up soon. Especially as att keeps dropping the price makeing this easily the cheapest snapdragon600 device making it very appealing to many more people we should see the community for this phone grow a lot.

IMHO, a phone that good, stock rom is good enough!
Stock ROM of Gpro is great.....and optimized.
I didnt miss CM or PA at all.
Exactly . Best rom by any android company released

I agree .. it's a good stock rom. I would have to say most people install roms to improve performance but even on the Note2 I had I wasn't installing roms like I did in the past on every device prior.. and in fact this G pro benchmarks about 60 to 100 percent faster than the Note2 in most ... and so far it's been the fastest, slickest device I've used by far. I'm using Apex Launcher for customizing .. and at this point my phone looks like stock Android 4.3 and runs lightning quick.. and battery life has been stellar. And I'm liking and using the quicknote dedicated button! Only thing I miss about my note2 is kinda the S-pen and the inky blacks(contrast)
I have own a lot of Samsung devices...starting from s2 to s4 and I change my s4 for this device because I didn't feel I big upgrade from s3...of course I miss switching rooms but I can tell you that this phone is a lot quicker than many phone out there...the G pro is a lot more responsive than my wife note 2 and what I love about this phone is BATTERY this monster last the whole day

Stock is good, but modded roms are better. that's my option. Because the stock rom is so perfect, we're hailing the rom, but we better make sure that doesn't offend the developers. Even it is perfect, it is still 4.1, we will need 4.2/4.3 roms very soon, and LG won't catch up with our interest. So, we better appreciate what developers are trying now. Pls don't say we don't want mod roms.
For me, I just have one request to the devs, whatever you do, pls make sure the Quick Remote is in your rom, coz I'm already obsessed with it so much. now I can control everything around me with my phone.

Now if youwere trying to be obtuse about WhY the need for such a thread, it may have been easier to just type those exact words... No, I figured that was what it was about just thought it was a weird way of going about it. As for which one is better, the G2 would win for most people based on specs alone. However, I'd still choose the lgog for one major reason, developer support. This isn't a concern for your casual/standard smartphone user. G2 will catch up eventually I think, but I love this forum, just a bunch of great, helpful people and a ton of support.
Also, I got my lgog for $1.00 almost 6 months ago from Best Buy because I was due for an upgrade and that was the sale.
And while the G2 is impressive on the spec front, I'd still take a Nexus5 over it, again, because of developer support. The only thing I'd really miss is the camera app and extra megapixels.

Tbh, i like lg phones, but nothing is stable/fast enough on this phone besides stock. I mean, my evo shift lived wayyyy beyond it's time, and everything was super stable. The OG just doesn't handle aosp well, and although i love stock, i like having a stable version of the latest aosp too. I mean the 4.3 is more stable on my shift ( lags more, but is stable). The general point of aosp is to get better battery life and performance, and this phone ALWAYS has worse battery on aosp and performance equals stock only on certain roms for certain tasks( fyi i know its the phone not devs). If i was going to go anywhere, it would be back to HTC until LG opens up, as development has always been stellar on those phones, even before htc opened up.

The newer CM11 builds 1/28< have been near flawless for me. May want to give CM11 at least one more chance since sources for our device was updated recently. I generally find myself crawling back to CM11 whenever I try other roms for one reason or another. Previous CM11 builds gave me sleep of death but past few builds have been fine lately(or maybe it was official facebook causing it?)

I generally find myself crawling back to CM11 whenever I try other roms for one reason or another. Previous CM11 builds gave me sleep of death but past few builds have been fine lately(or maybe it was official facebook causing it?)

Ive actually very happy with the state of cm11. But its still not (officially) finished, so it has too many bugs for me. Thats why i brought up 4.3 ie cm10.2. All 4.3 finished aosp roms are always worse than stock as far stability and performance, and the fact is, aosp is supposed to be faster. I game, use flash, watch a lot of videos and use my phone heavily, so i need battery life AND performane, not one or the other. Stock based is the only way i can get through a day.

I don't see myself getting rid of the lgog anytime soon. The communtiy is just too awesome.

+1 on the community.
Don't know what I'd do if the lgog died-- doesn't look like Sprint has them anymore. G2 is a little bigger not so pocket sized anymore.
Guess I'll hang onto my upgrade for awhile.
I definitely prefer the LGOG over the G2. Back when my OG broke, I almost got another one until I saw the drop in price on the OG Pro and jumped for it. The G2 has horrid battery life. My grandmother had one for a few days and returned it because she had to charge it twice a day, not including a nightly charge. Definitely missing the dev support over here, though. So many more options ROM and kernel wise. Hell, we just received our first custom kernel and it's not exactly user friendly lol. The only real difference between the OGP and OG is the screen, chipset, and a removable battery (currently using a 9300mAh ZL). Although the OGP can only handle up to 1.89GHz, same as the OG, as I see you guys now have an OC kernel. In my eyes, the E970 is still the better device.

You lost me...was your complaint against the G2 or the G Pro ? By all accconts I've heard the G2 gets amazing battery life. I'm returning the HTC today and activating the G2 so I'll be able to make comparisons tto the One the G2 and the OG after a few weeks of play. I can say, after a few weeks with the One that I will honestly miss that damned BlinkFeed.

I hear the G2 gets amazing battery life as well but the best battery stats Ive heard about on the G2 were 17-23 hours. My stock Lgog gets 24-30 hours on a full charge. However both of my roomates have an lgog and they have very different experiences, nowhere near my experience - but I tinker with it daily - they are computer illiterate. Using viper kernel, undervolting a few clicks and using wakelock detector with greenify has given my lgog unheard of battery life. Again, this is on stock however - I too have had the most stable and best performance on stock/stock based. Vanir in particular seemed smoother and faster tbh, but battery life was no where near as good. That being said, a lot of these are still in it's infancy imo and just keep getting better. The lgog is a sensitive phone from everything Ive read/experienced but the devs we have continue to do amazing and dedicated work so I just keep my backup and continue flashing/playing with new things as they come.
Coming from an HTC EVO 4G, I feel like the lgog itself is a bit unstable. It's like what Lewis Black says about general rules of health - what's good for one of us may kill another, lol - that sums up the lgog for me. But thanks to either my constant tweaking or just dumb luck, I love this damn phone so much more than my old EVO.

Yeah I was confused about whether or not you were talking about the G2 or the G pro, e980 is deifnitely the g pro - but you may have been talking about both and it came out funny - it happens. I was gonna say one thing about the G2 though - atleast they are getting official nightly 4.4 AOKP builds.

I think I am losing my mind.

I have been looking at all of the roms that are out for the E980 and as soon as I like one, one or another of the functions don't work. I am new here so trying to weed through all the forums is mind numbing. I have tried the search button and all that does is bring up more question. What I am trying to find is a soild custom rom to which everything just works and a clear guide to follow. Sorry if I sound *****y but one rom post alone has over 50 pages and the more I read the more I am banging my head on what to and what not to do. Could someone please have pity on a old man and just guid me to the right rom?

Well... There is no right rom. It's a matter of preference. Do you want a basic rom. One that's close to stock? Or a feature filled one. That has every possible option you could want.

I assume that your phone is rooted and lokified, with twrp or cmw installed. Right?

The Rom is great but it is draining the battery way to fast. I am in construction and may not be able to get power. Is there a fix for this?
The RadeonMaya stock 4.4 remod works great and has the best battery life available for this device. Being 4.4, it has a lot of extra features and customizations. Only drawback is speakerphone doesn't work.

hello Mighty Loki,
You have practical options,
1. buy 2 or 3 extra oem 3140 mah battery on ebay for 8 bucks a piece.
2. buy a portable Power Bank such as Anker 6000 mah with 2 Ampere Output on Amazon sale for 30 bucks.

Thanks for the suggestion but I may have spoke to soon. I forgot that I did not charge last night and I am still at 35%, so that is not to bad when you consider that the phone was downloading apps and restoring everything.

Does Bluetooth work, and the reason why I'm asking is, I charged the phone all night and with in 6 hours it was down to 35% and I was not really using it. Now I have a question, Could the speakerphone lines of code be extracted from the stock rom and used to fix? I by no means a programmer I am just trying to understand Android OS.
Okay which custom rom has the best battery life?

LG G3 to swap with LG G2?

Hello guys,
I bought my father an LG G3 and I can't decide if I want to swap it for my LG G2. I know that the G3 has slight overheating problem, but there is a fix. It is running stock right now, but I always use CM on my devices for maximum performance on old devices like ours. Can someone with CM or any lightweight AOSP ROM run an Antutu benchmark? It is preferable if you don't have crazy amount of apps so the results are as good as possible. I know that the benchmark isn't everything, but it will at least give me an idea if it is worth it reading 2 hours of information about rooting and flashing.
I am happy with my G2. I get 51k on CM13. He gets 50k on stock. The only thing I really like for now is the display and the solid metal band around the display. In your opinion - is worth it swapping the phones or not? Is it a big jump in performance?
I will be very happy if you do the tests and save me time to flash only to test. Thanks.
Don't swap it man! What model/country is the G3? You should update to Android M, you'll get better performance if it's available. CM 13 is also a stable rom but I'm currently stock Marshmallow and getting

I am getting 53k after installing all my needed apps. I used to have CM 13 but don't want to go through the trouble of downgrading to KitKat, flashing, etc. Sorry if it isn't the answer you were looking for...
