How long is it taking fr you guys to get a full charge? I'm getting about 12% an hour....no idea why, this is my first tablet.

People have said their charge times were around 8hrs so it sounds about right. I have always charged mine when I'm either sleeping or when I'm busy with something else but the only time I kinda paid attention to it, I think it charged from 10 - 100% in about 6hrs but I could be wrong.
Mine seemed to charge in about 4 or 5 hrs from 0% to 100%. I had the tablet turned off.

I would like a SD800 chip in a 8" with spen.....
I found mine got to 70 percent in a couple hours, make sure you use supplied charger lead

I think the charger that Samsung includes with the note is underpowered. I was quite surprised to see it is exactly the same as the one for my Galaxy S4.

With screen off and stock charger, my charging rate is 24%/hour for the first 85%. After that the charging rate is drop down 12% or low.

the 10.1-2014 is little more powerful than the s4 charger. i believe it's 2A 5.3V where the s4 is just 5V.
Ok cool no complaints because the battery LIFE is great. Just wanted to be sure of the norm. I'm sure if I power down I'd charge much quicker. Also, I am using the provided Samsung charger just btw. Thanks!

Like others I charge mine when I sleep. I need to see how long it takes to charge though. I just don't want to be without my tablet when I need it so I take precautions

well ain't that something. mine is just 5V. i've got a verizon version bought on the day it came out. maybe they're swapping them out to 5.3V now.

If I were to buy a charger with more Volt output (if they exist), would it speed up charging? Or would the tablet cap the power it receives so that the charger basically acts no differently from the stock one?

on my s4 charger i get about 20-21% per hour. the gn10.1 (5.3v) charger i get about 24-25% per hour using the same cable - i tested that a while back.

be careful about getting one who's voltage is too high. you can burn up your electronics easily.
This is the only tablet that while playing an high intensive game like Modern Combat 4 where it did not lose charge. It actually was still charging and gaining steadily. This means that I am able to play for as long as I choose without worry of not having enough juice. I have owned many tablet over the years the latest one before the Note was the Nexus 10 and that drained battery while charging while in use. Very happy.

Cable impedance can make quite a difference. So use short, thick usb cables. In a test from german mag c't an S4 charged fastest with a certain Huawei ps. If the S4 is also charging at 2A, this power supply could also be used here. Sadly, that issue of the mag went to the bin.

Yup this is true. Some cables restrict the current so even if you use a 2.0amp adapter it will still charge slow because of the cable. The micro USB cable that comes with the s4, s3, and some Motorola are the good ones. Generally they're thicker than most. Ive bought extra from Amazon. You can use an app called "galaxy charging current" to check charging in mah. There may be other apps out there. But it's good for knowing your tablet is charging at its optimum or if you're using a good cable.

I upgraded to Jelly Bean the day before yesterday. But upgrading I've found that my charging time gone up quiet a bit. Its taking almost 30-40% more time to charge than it used to do earlier on ICS (stock). I'm running stock Jelly Bean on my Gnex. Is someone else also having this issue?
For me, approximatively 2-3 hours for full charging.
I think its more faster than ICS
I think I'll try different chargers to check the issue..
My GN is full in just 1 hour.

That is what I also used to get before moving to 4.1.1
Earlier my phone used to get warmer while charging and now is completely cold.
Is there any solution or reason for the slow charging?

Hm... I'm no expert at this, but maybe JB slowed down the charging amount so GNex doesn't get hot when charging. I found my GNex to charge a bit longer after the update too. But now when I'm using my GNex, it doesn't get as hot as 4.0.x
Takes a couple hours. But completely dependent on the charger and cable. Long cables have more line-loss, and chargers vary from 500mA to 2.1A in output.

Stock charger runs at 1 amp. If you are using a custom kernel it may or may not support the full charging current that the phone supports.

LOL what? Longer cables in NO WAY effect charging time.
LOL... that's a good one. Also, the Galaxy Nexus charger is rated at 1 amp. You should not use a charger OVER 1 amp or you will damage the phone's charging circuit.
And I used to thought the higher Amperage doesn't affect the battery at all. Even if the 'amp' is high,the device will pull only that much of 'amp' that it needs. Rather we should ensure that voltage should not be higher than the rated one for the device.

A longer and/or thinner cable does have more resistance and so loses a bit of its power (V*A) over the run as waste heat. If it is already at capacity, that loss would slow charging a little bit compared to a shorter cable. If not, then its just wasted energy for heating the cable.
To your second point, any 5volt charger capable of delivering over 1 amp at 5V ( clean DC ) will safely charge a GNexus. Any unnecessary amperage capacity will just not be used. Charger will run cooler.
You could use a 6V auto battery charger with LOTS of amp capacity if it were 5V instead of 6V, and if it were clean DC, but it is not.

I am having the following issue, either it takes forever to charge like 1% an hour or when the phone actaully does reach 100% and I unplug it, it then drops to 80% right away.
I have tried different chargers, outlets and batteries as well as a factory reset. Nothing works. I tried charging my battery in another GS2 and it charges fine. I have no idea what could be wrong.
Try Wiping your battery stats.
How. I am not rooted.
Also, by doing a factory reset, didnt that wipe the battery stats?

Are you using the stock charger? Do you have and radio or antennas on, sync on....
Only thing I can think of is a battery drain problem such as an app on auto sync like Facebook. Turn off all app sync, phone sync, and radios. If that doesn't fix it.....then it's a defective device.....but I suspect a app draining the battery. btw...how long does your battery last?

No, I cant find the original one, but I am using a samsung charger with the same 700 ma out. Sometimes I use an htc charger with 1 amp out

I am only syncing one gmail account, gps bluetooth off and no widgets running. No matter which charger I use or outlet I use, it takes forever to charger. The other weird thing is that it says I am charging via usb when I am really using AC.

That does nothing, charging to 100percent wipes battery stats all by them self. And it has nothing to do with calibrating.

I have not rooted because as a casual user, it really serves no purpose for me. I might have to use the warranty, but I was hoping to fix it before going that route.

Yes I have. My phone poorly charges the other battery as well
I used to have this issue with cyanogenmod. Even on this phone. Turn your phone off. Fully charge it. Odin back to full stock. Somethings not playing well with your phone. Like I said this used to happen to me ONLY on cyanogenmod ( epic 4g and nexus s ) but never touchwiz.

Samsung stock charger is 1A.. 700ma is definitely not enough. the htc charger should have been fine. but our phone doesn't play nice with chargers..it might also be the wire...

According to an article or thread I read here on XDA ( I can't remember I'll try and find it ) our phone recognize the chargers you plug into it. It recognizes Samsung chargers and charges optimally but use any other charger and it will only charge at 500mah even if the charger is rated at 700mah or even 1a. Makes sense because I have 3 chargers. 2 Samsung wall chargers rated at 700mah and an HTC charger rated @1a and the Sammy chargers work much faster. I'll test how long it takes to get from 0% to 100% charge with the Sammy charger then use the HTC one on the next cycle.

Apparently, our phones don't get along well with certain 3rd party chargers, and if you use one, it'll wakelock your phone until you reboot. For those of you who don't know what a wakelock is, the short version is it prevents your phone from deep sleeping, screwing your battery life.
I'd been using an old Blackberry charger with my phone, and using the linked app, tested it and discovered it was causing this problem. After switching to a different charger, I get much better battery life now.
I highly recommend anyone not using the original charger to test their charger and make sure it's not ruining your battery life.

The phone can detect when you're using ANY charger but the original Sammy charger. There are 2 switched pins on the charger that detect this. When the phone detects an incompatible charger it only chargers at 350mah. When using the normal charger it charges at a full 700mah or whatever the charger pushes to the phone.

If i was to replace just the USB cord that came with the phone with a generic one, would this cause the charger to only charge at 350mah?

Nah the cable doesn't matter. Just the charger. And loopdogg I bet! My phone goes from dead to a full charge while on in about 3 hours. Love it!

Actually, I have a number of chargers that work to fast charge and work properly. Tested them with the app I linked and they come out without issue.
These include the charger that came with my Pantech Element tablet, charger from a Palm Pre, and charger from my old HTC Touch Pro 2.
They all charge at 900ma+ and don't cause wakelocks.

Sorry, but that's a flat out fib. This subject has already been fully established and spoken about. Look it up. Even TheDerekJay himself has spoken and elaborated on this with his development findings on this phone.
I also have numerous chargers. 2 700mah Sammy chargers, an HTC my touch 4g charger, iPhone 1000mah charger, and Evo 3d charger.. safe to say none of them charge nearly as fast as the Sammy chargers. Approximately 3 hours from 0% to a full charge. Around 5-6 hours with the others.

I was testing with differents chargers and cables and there is a lot of changes about both. The cable make a big job. Using the same charger and two diferent cables with one i get wakelocks 301mA and with the other one I get fast charging at 895 mA.

I dont have a note 1 and a note 1 charger so I cant really answer.
But i advise you to compare whats written on both chargers. Volt, power all that stuff. If its the same i dont see a problem.
Maybe its not the best advice but I used to charge my LG p990 with a N97 charger and its still fine.
Theres one thing with my note 2 charger.
When I charge it theres a little noise that pisses me off its like ultrasound or something coming from the charger connected on the wall. I usually notice the noise wheb the phone is at 65%.

You can use it but it well charge slowly. So the usual 2.5 hours to charge week become 4 to 5 hours.
Both chargers are micro usb and is required for them (as a standard) to be 5 volts. So using them to charge ur GN2 is ok.
The current really doesn't matter. It only dictates how fast its gonna be charging your phone. Since the usual GN2 charger uses 2 amps, using the 1 amp GN1 charger would just make your phone charge longer. Anything above 2 amps may be harmful and untested.
I believe they made the GN2 charger 2 amps because it has to make the charging time shorter to compensate for the bigger battery.

Yup, if those numbers are true then it will take twice as long to charge a note 2 using the note 1 charger. The output voltage must be the same, otherwise bad things may happen. I remember reading somewhere the faster the charging, the quicker the battery life degrades, so the Note 1 charger may actually be better, but I have read so many contradicting articles about Li-Ion Batteries that I don't know what to believe. In any case, you can try. In theory, it's safe, and if really needs a stronger charge, it will either display a message that it needs a different charger or it simply won't charge. It won't blow up or break down, but you shouldn't leave it connected for hours either if you see it doesn't charge.

Just got my G3 last night.
Loving it so far, but i noticed that the charging speed is very slow..
Also, the charger and cable that came with the phone gives me "weak power" notification even when I plug it into the wall.
So I have to use my old charger and cable...
any thoughts ?

Yes, coming from the Note 3, the G3 is slow as hell. Actually, very disappointed on it but it is what it is.
I haven't even used the one that came with the phone. Use the blackberry blade chargers, they'll charge at about 1% a minute or so. Best 5 bucks I ever spent.

The charger that comes with the phone is 1.8 amps, the Note 3 comes with a 2 amp charger. Not sure how much current the G3 can pull vs the Note 3, but you could try using a Note 3 charger and see if it's any faster.
I had an old charger by my nightstand and when I plugged it in at around 20% it said it would take it 6 hours to charge haha. The included charger quoted 2 hours.
It's possible that your cable (or the charger) is damaged OP
I plugged my 2 day old G3 in yesterday at 18% and it calculated charge to 100% to only take 1hr46min. Your charger must be phuked if it is showing slow charging. All chargers I have that are over 1.5mAh charge at the faster rate.

Mine charges no slower than any other phone I've owned. I don't do Samsung, so I can't say anything about them. Charges every bit as fast as my wife's M8.

I haven't even used the one that came with the phone. Use the blackberry blade chargers, they'll charge at about 1% a minute or so. Best 5 bucks I ever spent.

This ^^^. $5 on eBay for TWO of them. They're 6 feet long, and charge at 1.8A - fast as hell on my N5. I'll see how it is on the G3 when I get it. But they're honestly so good I bought 6 of them total. For $15, and how good they are, why not?
