It's not normal to lose the folder on every reboot and I don't have this problem.
Any possibility those games actually on sdcard ?

Hi cpkv5 they were in external . I moved them to internal and now they don't vanish ... But isn't it still not normal that shortcuts in folders vanish after a reboot ?

And can you check on which homescreen that vanishing folder happens ? I just notice that anything that I put on the 7th screen will be removed after reboot. Is it only me ?

[APP MOD] VideoPlayer.apk Rotate Video without Auto-Rotation!

Hello
Description
Since some time Samsung made it possible to see videos in portrait. That's a nice feature, but the only problem is that, if you don't have auto-rotate on, the player will be stuck on portrait and you'll have to return, then activate auto-rotate, and re-open the video. It's quite annoying(for me) so I decided to edit VideoPlayer.apk to disable auto-rotation, but maintaining the feature to rotate the screen. Since I personally don't use SRS effects I decided to replace that with a button that would rotate the screen. So if you click on that button and you're on portrait, you get to landscape and the opposite.
It has another advantage over Auto-rotate: if you want to look at a landscape video but you're in a position between the two, with auto rotate it'll sometimes go to portrait, with this it won't.
So, what does it look like?

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I would appreciate if some designer could make an icon for it or even give me a good one! Dimensions of the image are 110x76 for Landscape and 90x74 for portrait(thanks in advance!).
If you need:
If you need SRS effects, leave a message and I will see what I can do. I removed it because I personally don't use it but I don't know if many people need it.
If you need other rotations(landscape-reversed, portrait-reversed), also leave a message. I can easily include them, I just need to know if some people need those.
Compatibility
It should work on every Samsung ROM(maybe not future upgrades), I'm personally using Batista 2.3 and used the VideoPlayer.apk from it as a source. Leave feedback if it's working/crashing or not please .
Developers/Themers
If you want to include this in your ROM or theme/edit this, no problem. Just leave a little credit .
Installation
I am not responsable from anything that could happen.
Two methods :
1. Replace manually the APK downloaded from below and paste it in /system/app and confirm the replacement of VideoPlayer.apk with a explorer that has Root functionality, like Root Explorer or the new FileSlick.
2. Install the CWM-VideoPlayer Via CWM/Recovery(Thanks Rawat for CWM-script!).
.
Awesome. I have the same trouble all the time. Great fix...

I don't really know, they don't define "development"! Reenginering is development for me(SMALI). If it's only for ROMs then yes I guess it should be moved.
" [READ] Only actual DEV, GUIDE, HOWTO, HACK, MOD, APP & FIX topics allowed in DEV area" <- This seems to fit !

Here's a basic update.zip which overwrites it with your modded app.
I would have made a more fancy one that renames the old one to videos.apk.bak , but I'm just feeling too tired right now

umm, abolutely not.. well done on the good work, hope this is a mod other ppl will enjoy.. especially watching *videos in bed
plzz put SRS effect too... coz many users use it...
can u plzzzz make another mod with SRS not removed, as i see videos in landscape mode only and i dont need to see in portrait..
thanx..thanx... thanx a lot..
For some reason this did not work for me.
Could you simply change the name of the Activity so that this is considered another application. Then we can choose witch app to use for videos (the original, or yours), and put the tick for using it every time if we like it.
Thank you in advance!
+1 for a SRS version

Thanks for the tip! But for me it's not only because you don't have autorotation on that it's annoying, also because that autorotation sometimes sets to the wrong position for example in bed.

Well for you it's really simple, I created it in 5 sec(only XML, no development), attached here.
It still has SRS effects, but has nothing to do with main post as it's only in landscape and won't rotate at all(landscape only). But it seems to fit with your needs. So here it is(not tested though, but should work):

[DEV] update to unlimited + UI >> tabs STOCK BROWSER for i9100

UPDATE: on 22-11-2011
I could update the number of tabs that can be opened to unlimited,
there is one stupid thing that Samsung made
the number of tabs that in the widget is refereed to an image but not counter
so u will see the number of opened tabs as a digit is stuck at 8
bqz if we need to make it go on one by one we have to add image for each new tab with its value in public and also have to modify some smali files by doing additional lines in browser activity which is something stupid bqz there is no limit to stop in !
any way here is the modded file with UT (unlimited tabs) and UA (user-agent)
*****************************************
credit:
UT: me
UA:intronauta but i made all the modding for KJ3
*****************************************
no bugs so far (plz report if u faced one)
I also included the support of approximately all the languages
***********************
download and move to system/app
reboot
http://www.multiupload.com/5EPI2RCFVJ
===================
Update:
for ODEX versions delete both (browser.apk & browser.odex) from system/app
paste my modded browser.apk into system/app
reboot
===================
I spent more than a month to do this, so if u like it provide small donation and nothing bad will happen if u press thanks button
Lol nice work but why would we ever need 16 tabs??? The Max I've ever had was 5 lol

Some people are ignorant. Some people are just rude. Some people are Trolls.
These people will always exist. That is no reason for you to stop doing what you do well. Many people do appreciate your work.
Keep up the good work.
It's a nice feature to have, the phone can handle it + it's always handy to browse the subforums and open many threads for later reading, instead of going back and forth.
A feature I miss from 2.2 (Froyo) Browser was the ability to close the tab, even if it's only one. Since the browser doesn't have a dedicated home button, that was the only way to go back to home page. Can this feature be added at all? I've seen a lot of browser mods and none have this.
Aww, too bad I can't use this, I'm on stock ROM, not deodexed.
Still, this is very cool, I am hitting the "8 windows wall" quite often.
Could this maybe be compiled into a "regular app", so one can install it along the system browser and use it on any ROM?

YAY!
It works!
Untouched (besides root) stock KI8 Samsung ROM.
The "Windows" button in the menu caps out at 8 (stays at 8 after the 8th window) and the "open new window" animation is a bit borked as well - but I don't care about those details, important thing is: 16 windows/tabs open at once

What about a completly translucent folder icon and border so.it looks like maybe just a stack of icons

If you create a translucent background version with a (~0.8 opacity) border I will use it for sure!

Haven't got the Launcher, however I expect it would be the same.
Best thing I could advise would be to root it, make a nandroid backup should all go wrong.
Do this mod and if it fails, just restore from a backup

Though it is possible in principle, it is much more complicated. I read a tutorial somewhere how to add things in that menu, but somehow windows checks some checksums on that menu on every start and it's really hard to put smth there. If you are interested in that topic, google for it. You probably will find a how-to. But be warned, you are in for a treat .
Thank you so much for this.

Very nice mod

Reg hacks for turn-down options !
Super duper work Sir !!!
I just ran your reg-script and deleted the 4 icons for Shutdown/Log-off/Sleep/Restart
that I was using from another awesome dude in XDA since the last two weeks !
Reg-hacking FTW !
Hope someone finds a way out on how to go to the desktop on boot, then I can get
rid of these Start8, ClassicShells et al ... (no complaints for them) and just get to
work on boot up (even though pressing Win-D takes ~1ms !) ... but dude am I lazy !
Cheers !

Oh yes, that was Talderon whose scripts for adding turn-off icons to the start screen I was using.
I had even expanded on them a bit and added a few nicer (read bigger and brighter) icons !
Thanks Talderon and SkyKOG ! You guys in the XDA forums rock ... why weren't I here before !

TRON-Inspired Theme
I've got a theme in progress inspired by the theme, ICS:COLDBLUE, found here.
Here is a sample:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I'll be sharing the ui.zip when I get it done if anyone's interested.
As you can see, it's in landscape since I tend to prefer to work on my phone in landscape mode. Of course, the drawback to that is it's not friendly to people with bigger hands. If people are interested and want it in portrait mode, which will allow the buttons to be bigger, I'm willing to work on one too. Thanks.

It's because that one is made specifically for devices that are naturally in landscape mode. I actually had to rotate the images 90 degrees and switch out the X and Y coordiantes. I'm also in the midst of seeing if I can get output data to rotate 90 degrees to work with the landscape mode.

Folder name is case sensitive. Must be all lower case. Zip file must also be renamed to "ui.zip". Otherwise, I can't think of any other way the directions wouldn't work for you.

That looks dope!
Just checking in to those of you waiting. I apologize for the delay. I work during three different jobs weekdays, so I rarely have any time to work on the theme. Luckily, I might have at least an hour to work on it today and tomorrow, and definitely lots of time over the weekends.
I had to make a few minor tweaks to the landscape version after talking to some people from TeamWin. (Apparently, unless I want to start writing a giant mess of graphical codes to allow text rotation, I've got no choice to what rotation certain texts will be.) I'm in the process of placing each image at the right spot, which requires repeated restarts of the phone into recovery mode and back. And believe me, you'd want a break after the 50th restart.
Once that's all done, I'll get right into working on the portrait version, which should be easier once I've decided on a good layout. I'll throw out a sample once I have, but I'm open to any suggestions you guys might have.

I'm not sure what to tell you. The process is pretty simple. You have 2.3.*.*, right?

Try putting the theme folder in the twrp folder on emmc and external sdcard. Just the external sdcard didn't work.
