So, the question is it possible to replace the internal memory with 8GB or 16 or etc.. as what we already done on HD7..?

i already saw a guy disassembling the device on youtube. i will try to find it and send him a message. if htc still uses micro sd as internal memory, that's mean we can extend the internal memory and solve the issue.

That would be great!!!

any update on post above ?

"The microSD card slot is soldered into the motherboard."

Crazy Idea: Could be possible to use the SD Card memory as internal memory making some mod on a custom 8s rom?

pls extend it it makes me crazy..... cant install 1 good game....

I`ve asked the guys from "Rounded" who made this repair tutorial. They said that this phone does not have a microsd slot for the internal memory. But i am still optimist and believe that this will be fixed by the MS guys.

[Q]How can I extend the System storage (memory) ?

Hi,
as everybody have noticed Samsung has integrated into their firmwares 3 storage locations:
System storage (1GB)
USB storage (or internal SD card) (1.7GB)
SD card (or external SD card) (up to 32GB)
A way how to swap USB storage and SD card is already given.
Like most of you gamers have already noticed, the memory of the internal SD card is often too small to download big games (like NFL 2012, Real Football 2012, etc.)
I know there are ways how to swap or use apps to swap temporarily the directions.
But I want a permanent solution with full capability of storage usage.
So here is what I would like to do:
Change the storage to:
System storage (2,7GB)
SD card (up to 32GB)
So basically extend the system storage and delete the USB storage. Than swap the internal SD and external SD card.
Advantages:
Media Server will only have to search one direction(physical SD card)
Only 2 main directions
SD card direction IS a physical SD card.
SD card, if class 10, is quicker than the internal storage(for apps).
Hope someone can help.

Sounds like a good plan.....I never can understand the Samsung memory/storage layout..... even for app devs deciding on /sdcard as default data store.....Samsung just breaks defaults.
Has your plan been tried on any other Samsung model.....or other Androids with the same Internal/External layout??

I have been searching for quite some time. I have seen someone writing about a data.ex4 file which was 4GB big. But not sure what it was used for.
I'll dig a bit deeper into that :-D

Yes thats the plan :-D. But I have no clue about the internal restrictions of Android and the Samsung firmware.
I think if the extension of the system storage would work, than all we have to do is swap internal and external sd card. And keep the small internal(former internal sd card) partition unmounted.
BTW: My system storage has almost full. 850MB/1.07GB

I hve no idea too bro...can't help..
Many new devices around here use this three layer storage...
But,what I thought ,when we succes do this..there's no need to swap I think..

So I have searched and searched ...
Didn't come veeery far, but atleast found a thread with a similiar concern:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398797
This is for the Galaxy Mini.
I asked the developer or thread starter, whether he can help us out.
Let's wait and see, hopefully he comes around.
EDIT: Doc_cheilvenerdi.org has replied, and is working on a solution. Hope it is going to work .

Only Problem is, if the game is bigger than the internal sd space, you won't be able to download to sdcard. Because the procedure is like this:
Download game to internal SD -> move downloaded files to external SD
So you SD card has to be always free, unless you want to use the swap temporarily.

Update
I am in contact with Doc_cheilvenerdi.org, so I just want to give you a small update of the more or less current status. It might inspire some other devs.
So this was the second to last message (obviously with the kind permission of Doc_cheilvenerdi.org):

I'm here!
From a full firmware I just figured out that we don't need Kernel source because the ext4 kernel modules are already inside the Stock kernels (really good news)...
Now I'm dealing with the AOSP mkbootimg tool, used to repack the boot image after tweaking it...
It seems that they use a slightly modified one (? it should not occurr)...
I find two main differences... the first one is Solved... I can patch the mkbootimg code myself to use it...
The second one is related to 2 hex pages (4096 * 2 byte) of code at the end of the boot image that I cannot handle...
...anyway I don't know how to handle it...
Actually I cannot test modded images myself (I don't own a I8150) and could be dangerous to ask somebody else to do it for me...
Two questions to you:
1) Your Galaxy does have a fixed partition table, right? just to exclude that those codes are sizes and addresses of system parts... (this could be easy for us)
2) can you post me the output of the command (from adb shell or terminal emulator)
# busybox ls -l /dev/block/
while you have the sdcard slotted in?
After that I can prepare a boot image smaller (and NOT tweaked yet) just to not overwrite the code "I don't know what it is"...
but it's up to you to test for it...
...maybe it could not work...
...I will couple the repacked boot image with the original one, anyway, just to revert easy to it in case of troubleshootings...
but I repeat... it's up to you...

Ty for Keeping us updated m8
Hey guys any news on this? I think another good reason for this is that it will hopefully increase the amount of ram available, at this minute I have 87 mb free And hardly any apps open. So any news on this as it would be really helpful?

As far as I understood this solution would let you better use your memory card and system/app space, but I don't think it would increase at all the amount of RAM available, unfortunately...
Anyway, yeah, keep us posted thanks!
hey THE-E
is thr any news abt this post cuz i really wanna extend my app size without having to swap memories or installing apps to external memory (all i wanna do is get 2.7 GB on 1 partition for app installation )

Unfortunately not. Not sure what the reason was, but there was a misunderstanding and after that there was no further reaction from the developer. I guess it was not possible.

[Q] HTC Desire HD Cannot Mount SD CARD

Yo Bro,
Need your help. So just yesterday night i downloaded a music from an apps.
all of sudden the memory card just removed ( in-terms of unmounted itself) where i didn't physically remove it by myself.
I experienced this problem before and found a solution to recover but i just cant find that link back
So , I was hoping you guys could help me out a little hope for me to recover them.
The SD Card run as 8gb itself.
Things i've tried;
1)Factory Reset
2)Physically remove the sd card by myself and insert back in
3)Restarted the smartphone right after the problem occur
4)Reset my battery
5)Trying to get into my PC by using Disk Drive mode but doesn't shown at HTC screen.
From what i think;
I dont think my memory card have any problem so far or maybe memory full because of it ?
btw , will 16GB memory card compatible with HTC Desire HD ?

1.Try wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery. Sometime my old DHD sdcard have same problem.
2. Yes, 16GB memory card compatible with DHD. My sdcard is Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 GB. And it run perfect.:fingers-crossed:
Hey guys.
I have an issue with the SD card as well. Actually, the phone doesn't detect SDcard at all, even in recovery.
I've tried mounting USB storage in 4ext, can't do that, can't partition it, format it, anything. The SD card works ok in card reader and camera, so I guess it's an issue in the phone?
This happened after I opened my phone to clean it out. It isn't the first time I'm doing this, but nothing ever went wrong.
It's confusing to me, because I didn't even touch anything around the SD card slot, just removed the back panel, cleaned the upper part of the phone where the speaker is and that's it, I didn't even take the entire motherboard out, no need for that.
Does anyone have any clue how could I fix this?
To be sure, check in memory card reader.
SD-cards don't have unlimited lifetime, but this is too soon tho.

[Q] N1 Storage query

I purcahsed my N1 a while ago, specifically the 16GB CM version, and after plugging it into my PC for data transfer I noticed that the root is 'sdcard'. Does this mean that within the phone there is likely a built in micro SD? If there is, does anyone know a way to replace that with another SD card? (I have a 32GB micro-SD that currently has no use and 16GB doesn't store all my music!)
Also, does anyone have a link to a video or something similar which shows the N1's insides. (Similar to an XDA unboxing, where the phone is taken apart for example)
Thanks in advance!

It has a 16GB NAND flash memory module that is soldered onto the board. You can't remove it or change it. It's read as an SDcard so that it can be used properly by Android, that's all.

Unfortunately, that really gimps the mess out of the phone. Having only about 10gb usable after rom install and not having an external sdcard port AND having the internal flash soldered onto the board with no chance of upgrading it literally throws all the work they did making the camera adjustable.... into the trash can!

This little thing works wonders. It works natively with ColorOS and you can just toss a micro-SD into it. I suggest getting at least one to have for multiple phones/devices. :highfive:

Micro SD-Card Problem

Greetings everyone,
I tried finding a solution for this problem for quiet a while now already, but I simply can't find one.
I have a 64gb sdxc card by Sandisk and it doesn't work properly anymore.
The problem is, that it restores the partition always over and over again when I try to partition or format the sd card.
Like when I delete the partition and apply the changes and the card is beeing mounted again, it shows the same partition with the same files again before I deleted it.
Is there a way to fix this? Because except from that problem it works as it should.
Could it be that write protection issue I've read about here?
It first appeared when I used Omnirom for a while on my S3
Thanks in advance for your help :good:

How old is the card? Any noticeable cracks, burns, or damage to the contact on the card?
Your card might be bad, I have had a bad experience with sandisk memory cards , i bought one and had to exchange it 5 times for a new one , finally i did get a reliable one.So if possible see If you can return it
Not sure how old the card is. Should be around a year I think.
The card has no damages from the outside. The pc can read it too, same for my phone. I can't write files on it or format it or delete partition.
When I remove the card and put it back into the reader, it has the same status as before I changed it.
I read too, that sandisk seems to have problems with their cards lately. Especially this 64gig model.
I guess too that it is really bad and no good anymore.
You should at least be able to return it since sandisk has a lifetime warranty (and seeing as there is not physical damage they will probably replace it with a bit of convincing)
As convenient as SD/micro's can be, they seem to have plenty of issues like this. Certain brands work wonders for some people and some are lemons. I've always had a good experience with Sandisk, but see if they'll replace it or check out Kingston or Transcend or another brand.
I'm gonna do that. Thanks for the help so far.

As long as you're not creating a partition in the sdcard for extra RAM, your sdcard is fine. As far as I know, it won't damage the phone. I'm using that swap method too
thanks even if it corrupts or damages my memory card i.e external card no problem but it shouldn't damage my phone are you sure that this swap method doesnt causes any problems in my phone at present and in future
as you said creating extra partition for RAM in memory card i.e external card i wont do that because it has 1GB RAM which i feel its more than enough for this handset.but my only doubt is about internal memory and phone if this swap doesnt harm my phone its enough
I was also wondering what would happen if you remove the sdcard or it gets corrupted, but then I realized, you can always flash stock ftf and get your internal storage back.
Well corrupted internal memory could result in hard brick, but swapping wouldn't probably corrupt it.
Just out of curiosity, why do you guys prefer swap over link2sd, gl2sd, foldermount and all? They all resolve the issue of low mem without having to deal with swap
so what would you say shoul i leave it swaped and use my mobile or should i unswap it if your certain that swapping is gonna damage my mobile if not today may be in future then i gonna unswap it and use pls help me

Nothing can be said for certain mate. Everything we tinker with has some risk factor associated with it. Unswap or not is upto you
I doubt corrupted internal could cause hard brick. Soft brick probably.
ok thanks for your info but could you please give me some precautions what i should not do and does it cause soft brick or hard brick if anything goes wrong wih sd card

To Be in PEACE just do a stock rom backup and TA partition backup :good:
This way you can be sure that if anything does happen(Chances of that happening are very low, but to be Safe :fingers-crossed you can be sure that your phone can once again be as New
