The Jedi Academy, or (Most) Everyting You Need To Know About Jedi ROMs - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

WELCOME TO THE JEDI ACADEMY!
We're pleased to welcome all Jedi, from Initiate to Master here for questions and answers about the Jedi ROM series. Our goal here is to provide a platform where you can ask questions, seek advice, and gain insight and knowledge about the ROM, especially in the immediate pre- or post- flash time period.
One thing we cannot stress enough - READ THE OP (Original Post) for the ROM you're thinking of flashing completely to familiarize yourself with any changes or issues. The OP is updated (usually in advance) of all new releases, and contains *important* information about the release.
Lastly, style counts as much as substance here. We take great pride in being polite, respectful, and generous in our time and devotion to helping improve the Jedi ROM experience. While we can't guarantee we can respond immediately to all questions, we make every effort for someone to be around to help out should you need it. As the Jedi council grows, you can expect more names from people you can ask directly for more detailed or personalized help.
Below, you will find an FAQ with the most commonly asked questions about the Jedi ROM series. Please be a little patient with us as we grow the list and get it entered. As you all know, typing all of this stuff out takes time, so growing it will take some time.
Now that you've made through all of that, feel free to start looking, and remember that the SEARCH THIS THREAD box to the right of Thread Title is your friend, and can lead you to the necessary answers in many instances. I am working on the fuller FAQ now, and I promise it will grow as we wade through the threads looking for the most common questions!
Thanks for your patience and commitment to the Jedi ROM series!

Q0 HELP!!!! I TRIED TO ROOT AND FLASH THIS ROM AND NOW I CAN'T GET PAST THE SAMSUNG OR ANDROID SCREENS (OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE)
A0 There's an EXCELLENT thread for recovering from a bad flash HERE. (Mad thanks to bigapplevip for the link in the Jedi X5 Thread for posting this!)
Q1 Why won't my 64Gb SD Card work?
A1 The Saber 02 Kernel, used by both the Jedi Master and Jedi X series, does not support xfat formatting. In order for a 64GB card to work, you can either format the card in FAT32, or switch to the Perseus kernel for the phone, which supports exfat.
Q2 Does this have multi-window support and wifi calling?
A2 The Jedi Master ROM has wifi calling enabled, but no multi-window support. The Jedi X Series has multi-window, but no wifi calling.
Q3 My AmeriTrade or Samsung Galaxy Note II User's Digest isn't working.
A3 Uncheck "Force GPU rendering" in "Settings/Developer Options"
Q4 Why can't I find XXMyAppHereXX in the app drawer?
A4 Bloat or anything the Dev sees as extra or not needed by everyone or available on the Market was removed!! See link to GoodyBag in the OP or find in the Market
Q5 With the 5X5 Home Screen, my widgets are all squished-looking!
A5 Remove and re-add the widget, it will self-fix.
Q6 My phone won't sync with Kies via USB!
A6 Jedi Master and Jedi X support Kies via USB. You may find that you lose connectivity to Kies after restoring from Titanium. If this happens, disconnect the phone, run the connection Troubleshooter (which reinstalls the USB drivers and checks them), then reconnect the phone. You should be set after that.
Q7 Can I dirty flash over Version XX with Version XY?
A7 In some cases, yes. But, should you encounter stability issues or the occasional bartender who sees your phone and says "Their kind isn't allowed in here!", then you *may* want to full wipe. As a rule, I myself ALWAYS full wipe, system, flash ROM and any other .zips, wipe caches, boot, drink a root beer, and reboot. I've never, ever had a stability issue with a Jedi ROM. One thing to keep in mind is that you should ALWAYS CLEAN FLASH when a new BASE is used. This information will always appear in the OP for the ROM you're going to flash.
Q8 What does "Dirty Flash" mean?
A8 It means flashing a new ROM straight from the old, without wiping data or system. This leaves your old system data intact, but *can* cause stability issues. The council recommends a full wipe as stated in the OP, but your results may vary.
Q9 I flashed Jedi and now my XXyouapphereXX doesn't work anymore or behaves poorly.
A9 Some apps seem to have issues with new releases. Go Locker appears to have an issue with Jedi X5 (thanks to NeoAndroid for reporting that). If you have an issue, try reinstalling the app. If that doesn't cure your issue, post up, and we'll see what we can find out.
Q10 How do I get the carrier name back on the pull-down on my home screen?
A10 Easy answer - flash a new theme. Otherwise, you'd need to open the apk and change xml, which is NOT advised. NOTE: Themes not EXPRESSLY authored for the 23-toggle WILL NOT WORK.
Q11 How do I change the boot animation?
A11 You'll need root access, and just change the bootanimation.zip in "system/media"
Q12 Help!!! My battery is being eaten alive by this ROM!
A12 Install GSAM Battery Monitor. It's free, and gives us really useful info about what's hitting up your battery. Generally speaking, it's best to give it at least 24 hours and a full charge cycle before getting too excited. Since we all use our phones differently, YMMV.
Q13 Why am I not getting 4G/What happened to the 4G icon/Now I'm only getting 3G, why? etc...
A13 Starting with Jedi X7.2, the Status Bar now shows Correctly what TYPE of network you are connected to. H+ is 4G, H is 3G, and E is 2G GPRS/Edge
Q14 How do I flash a different theme from Aroma?
A14 A dirty flash is all you need to do.

We're VERY proud of of Dev, and his AWESOME releases. One way we show our appreciation is with banners. Please feel free to use any of the below if you use/appreciate/or just think Jedi are cool.

Not sure about the sound, but you can always flash the volumemod.zip from the goody bag and see if that helps. As for the hotspot, what's the trouble you're having with it?

Why are there so many versions of this ROM? I see a few in the Note 2 (T-Mobile) section and would like to try one but not sure which one to get... I'm coming from a long time using the Vibrant, which was a great phone, and I ran only Slim's stuff after trying 7 or 8 different ROMs... I'd like to use Jedi but not really sure which build I'd install. The phone is already rooted and ready to go. The main thing, and I know this is petty, that I am looking at is showing ONLY the battery percentage in text - no icon. I know its silly to ROM for just that but its what I like

There are two flavors -
Jedi Master (Based on T-Mo Stock Firmware) which has wi-fi calling enabled and working. It does not include multi-window. It does have the same tweaks and boosts that ALL Jedi ROMs have.
Jedi X (Based on AT&T LJ1 Firmware) which has multi-window enabled and working, but no wi-fi calling.
I'm not sure about what themes out there support your no battery graphic request, but I'm someone has one. Bear in mind that themes will need to be consistent with the 23-Toggle mod that is cooked in both flavors.
Happy flashing!

[ROM] Nexus-Sense Kang / NS4G-BACON!

Nexus-Sense Rom / Bacon For Your 4G
Bundled, Repackaged, & Brought to you by : Mish.Mash & BuellDogg
This is a kang rom. You all saw the video of the rom that was supposed to be finished by "BUBBY", but it was never finished. I had all but forgotten about this project until I read a review of the rom on another android forum. So again, I waiting excitedly for a release, & was still being ignored about whether this was still a viable project. Unable to stand the wait any longer, I dug around for many hours, a few days & nights actually until I hit pay dirt. Using specialized file search tools to dig around on sites like mediafire,4shared, etc., along with download directories of certain servers & web sites, I finally came up with what was needed to throw this rom into a zip ready to flash. I made a small edit to build.prop file, & repackaged everything till I got it going. Just like was reported by acs guys & the droid world review, wifi is broke & camera don't work. everything else works really good. I can take no credit for this other than all my time & snooping skills, & being able to repackage the files into a working rom for our Nexus S 4G's. I release this here for 2 reasons: (#1) MANY people have wanted & waited this for a long time almost 3 months. It was promised to be finished months ago, but was abandoned as a project. I thought the project was to good of a thing to just let it lay & die, because SENSE is nice to use, & it's fun to have ROMS to switch up, especially from other phones. (#2) Is I hope that a developer who is capable enough at rom cooking & hacking will take this 99% complete rom & fix the wifi & camera bugs. Wifi will scan & try to connect but then drops. Camera just force close or wont open. Maybe some good developer will help us out & finish this.
I cant credit anyone because the files are not named by owners, but I do suspect that this is the one done by BUBBY & forgotten along the way, since he is now working on many other phones & in hot water in the GS II forums. SO if this is what he started credit to him for getting it this far. Credit me for digging & finding the rom files, & repacking them to flash. & credit to BuellDogg who develops on other forums for helping me put it together to flash & making sure it works to install. If you can help finish the rom please do & keep us posted.
Here is how I installed it:
(#1) I Back up my current rom in recovery (I use raid zero) You can use whatever.
(#2) Wipe everything. data & dalvek caches.
(#3) Reboot. After the 1st boot up (which takes a few minutes) my phone wouldn't do much. I let it set a minute after booting, did a battery pull, then rebooted it again, & BAM it works good!
(#4) Do your setup with google accounts, etc. & have fun. Just remember the wi-fi & camera doesnt work.
I am not responsible if you mess up your phone! do a backup before you flash this rom. I use it & also put on my friends phone (works good) & my dev friend BuellDogg Flashed it & put it on his wifes phone & reports it's good to go. Hope you guys like it as much as me, & can appreciate how long I had to dig, dig, dig to come up with this stuff for me & you guys who wanted it so bad. If you have trouble I can try to help you here, or you can send ?'s to my email [email protected]
I am working with BD (BuellDogg) to make the rom even better, & I will update this posting with any new builds or updates for fixes, & changelogs so that you can know what is fixed & what is still broken.
*Rom Bugs : Wi-Fi & Camera Are Broke In Build #1 also Pulldown Status will say no service until we edit framework (fixing now) & some have reported Bluetooth not working.

Thanks for trying it & reporting on the rom, but really am not a developer. I try to learn as much as possible & someday will cook my own roms!

Edit: issues I've found. MMS may be broken, slight lag in performance (overclock seems to fix this), WiFi and camera are broken as stated in the op. This isn't a complaint, I like this Rom. Just info for people that are considering flashing this but can't live with a few small issues lol

I am the one who wrote the review for MyDroidWorld, & I was under the impression that bubby, qbking77, & ACS didn't want this released until everything was fixed. Just curious if you got permission from those guys to post this?
On another note, if this is bubby's ROM, then it is VERY nice work. It works rather well, especially for a Port from another device.
I just fell in love with my nexus s 4g again. This is nice no lag etc I'm very surprised and Pete's kernel was a good choice.

No, I ask no permission because: I myself downloaded these files from open, unsecured sites, folders, & servers on the internet, then with help from a developer, I put this together, repackaged as a complete rom to run on nexus s 4g. Android is open source, free for everyone to use as they wish. + I said IF this parts of Bubby's rom then credit to him, & I say 1st in op that this is kang rom. I didnt try to make credit for myself that I made the rom, & told how I found & put together. No one asks cyanogen team to make cm kangs, they just use them because the source is open. Open to public for anyone to use. Bubby had said for months "will post tomorrow" "couple days" "1st of week" etc., then just abandoned the project. They answer NO questions here in Q&A thread, demo video on youtube, or twitter if this rom would still be worked on or not, & he forgot about it. Most of you guys might not have read here on xda or on twitter the dramas that Bubby is facing from the tmobile galaxy s II forums, but in short summary, those guys support him to make roms for their phones, they bought him the phone & a brand new laptop to do work, & he has not, & will not answer the people who spent the large amounts of money for him to have the stuff. & now they have an atty. to sue him & ask police to charge him for wire fraud. I am not telling this to talk bad about him, only to explain that he has many things on his plate much more severe & pressuring than this SENSE rom, so he forgot about it & us guys who wanted it bad, & would not answer about finishing thie project. He also tweets every few minutes about building CM rom for yet another phone, & he is not part of the acs team any longer, & on twitter he says he is teamed up & working with other guys on new CM for other phones. Never mentions Nexus Sense rom. So I found the stuff & put together for myself & share with everyone here who waited many months for this.

lol, only if you are better developer than Bubby, or BuellDogg, which I doubt big time, because BuellDogg is GREAT developer on other forums (he hate xda ).
But, I hope someone who is a good developer & rom cooker can fix for us.
Not being rude about you not being a better dev, just I know how good BD is & if you were good developer, you would not ask here if you could do something to fix.

I am a realy Big fan since version 7 the Installer shows so much spunk!!!
I realy think keeping everything for Clark44 in one spot will help him in further creation of his rom.
After spending time with this rom all i can think about is how do I donate to keep it going?
I can not wait for the themes to come out for this Rom.
***First question Clark. May I use Setcpu and Ram Manager with your Rom?

I'd say don't use CPU apps. He has some tweaks in there and never mentioned anything about outside apps.

goo rom manager question
I do not want to loose the abilty to save recoveries to my extSdCard. So I am afraid to switch from CWM version that i am using.
The question is, can we use the Goo Manager to download the zip then use the CWM to flash it ?
I am just not sure if it packed and repack the same way.
Youtube isn't working when I'm on the go, using my 3g. But it works fine when I connect to Wifi. Maybe I did something wrong or maybe it just my phone?

I prefer the old options too. When I unchecked vibrate and sound in settings > sound I still get vibration when texts come in
No S-Voice options please
The installer is very cool. This is now my goto build for installing modems, I can install them at install then update PRL with one build.
I can't live with S-voice though, it just can't call the people I want and... don't get me started on it.
I hoped choosing not to install the removed Samsung apps would include S-voice but I still get it when I make a BT voice dial.
Is there any way to have the option to not have S-voice and use Google voice instead?
Thanks!
Thanks for posting this thread! I can't post in the dev forums yet (too new) so I had no way to get into the conversation.
I've got two questions.
1. Is anyone using JuiceDefender with this Rom? I'm used to it from my Samsung Galaxy Epic, but I wasn't sure if it's needed on this ROM. I like some of the features (Location aware Wifi, etc) but maybe not if it's sacrificing battery.
2. (For Clark) On version .8, is there any way to build in some of the color/theme options from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28676439 ? I'm not a big fan of green, so I would love to change the colors of the battery and the 15 toggles...
Thanks!

Well, I think it depends on how you use your phone. For me at least, JuiceDefender has helped out TREMENDOUSLY. I live in an area with bad reception and I'm constantly going in and out of roaming. Having all my data turned off while I'm not using the phone really helps boost my battery life (and not having to do so manually is worth the $5 in my opinion).
Without JD I'm at about 10-15% when I get home from work (10 hr work days). With JD I'm at about 30% when I get home.
I guess everyone's mileage may vary, but if you've already bought JD you might as well try and see if it helps your battery life.
side note: I also love the night tint in JD
I've actually got a couple of questions with this ROM.
First, though, I have to say this is a phenomenal ROM. I initially flashed it solely as a stop-gap while waiting for CM10 to come out for my Sprint GSIII, but it quickly has become my daily driver.
So with the installer on the 0.0.7 version, there are multiple radios. Is there any advantage in flashing one of those, or just leaving it be? Also I really like the CRT animations and beats audio, but it wasn't there in the 0.0.7 version, so I just went with 0.0.6. Is there a way to get it on the 0.0.7 version or have those features been disabled? I went off the video review on youtube, linked but for some reason, on my version, little to no features were on mine compared to the review video. Is there a way to enable them on the newest version? Thanks.
It got lost on the main thread, but awesome beats will be back in .8 (he forgot to put it in .7) and crt was broken by Samsung

Nice thread you guys have going on here
As for themeing. Let me explain how im going to have this system setup at latest by v0.0.9.
I've done some research and finally found an app that will do the following:
1. Notify when update is available
2. Allow user to download themes, bootanimations, apps, flashables, all within the app and all supplied by me.
3. Allow the user to read the changelog of upcoming buids on the go.
The link to this app is here
Now i already started migrating the boot animation option i already finished in Aroma installer into this app and that should be done very soon. Themers will also be able to send me whatever they make and i can make it an option in the app!
This will benefit us in the following:
1. Aroma installer stays and installs kernels, modems, and mods
2. ROM size doesn't go up to 2GB when i add in all the themes ect. (Size will always be around 860)
3. Users can change their theme and UI mods on the go without having to reinstall the ROM.
I'm trying to make customization available without having to reinstall the entire ROM. This will give us the best of both worlds.
I'm working on this as we speak so I might dissapear from XDA for a little bit while i stay on my train of thought But in spite of everything...this is going to get a whole lot better.

Will CRT return in the 0.0.8 release? Also what is the deal with all the different types of radios in the aroma installer?

No on CRT, see back a page or two with a draft of the mods in next release.
The radio's are the different modems you can choose, there have been three releases (updates) and the original that came with the phone. That is what the radios are.

Are there any advantages/disadvantages in flashing a different modem to the phone? It seems to be a consensus that LF9 gives better signal, but I'm afraid for the drawbacks.
Downloading .8 now. Very excited.
Clark, I have a small request for .9.
Any chance you can add on my favorite bootanimation from my Samsung Epic days?
It's the third link found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033274
(I'm also a big fan of the blue shutdown animation, but that's not nearly as big of a priority.)
Thanks!
I don't see the video icon when using Google Talk. I used to have it before I flash 0.0.8. Any ideas, I can get it back? Thanks

Find any combination you like, scale and project apps, widgets and system components!
PER-APP-COLOR, Paranoidandroids newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel (same that allows you to scale apps individually and choose their interface). See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

If this is actually source compiled, that is the difference. The other one says so in the OP but further along he states it is a port and not compiled. As such, the threads are both in the wrong sections. This is original (you made it), his is not (he copied/pasted it).

Ahhh well fair enough then.
Also, Im going to include a link to my ATT thread that may answer any questions some of you may have.
The OP is properly Paranoid formatted. So I am behind this
If I may make a suggestion though? It was quite the scroll with those pictures. It would be nice if you would hide the some of them with the

For example,
Here is a paragraph! :victory::angel::crying:
And it would be easier on mobile connections and slow internet in general.
Thank you! And great work! Let me know if you need a server mirror!

The reason the thread is closed is not because the developer is angry at all or anything like that. He no longer has the time to support the ROMs at the moment, I was suspicious to to the ROM's disappearance but was alerted he posted the reason he closed development on his G+. This ROM was taken offline when the new one came up, that's all. Thanks OP.

Yeah out of respect, I agree. Though Mike and Annex in the past have not cared for others posting their work, maybe that's why the OP didn't ask, and out of high demand.

Wowowow i did ask, i contacted Ramsay and did not get a response and did not even know what happened until i check my google and facebook, however, and i will say i did NOT get explicit permission, Ramsey has NEVER cared and i do NOT expect him to get back to me any time soon because of whats going on. They were just looking out for the dev is all. All too often people will post someone else's work without asking first, sometimes they give proper cred, sometimes they don't. But the decent thing regardless of your intentions is to ask first, which you said you did. And thank you for clarifying that btw.
Tbh, after reading the OP, I thought the exact same thing. Always do when it's not mentioned. You obviously appreciate the devs work on this Rom, and saranhai was simply looking out for them and their interests. I don't believe it was meant as accusatory at all.
Anyway, just thought I'd offer up a bit of explanation. Thanks for posting this, I know a lot of people are going to be very pleased to see it here!

Yea i get it i jut dont understand 2 things..
1. All his work EVERYTHING is up for download, so couldnt i just modify a few settings, add some wall papers, maybe some of your Modem tweaks as default and this would qualify at least as S3 Development.
2. So because the thanks was in regular text size and not colored that doesnt count as thanks !? The hassle i went through to put this togther and the 2-4 days waiting for a reply for Ramsay...(i put thanks to him and his team on the top and bottom of the post when i FIRST posted it... i even posted PICTURES OF THE GUYS AT THE BOTTOM).

Wow this ROM is amazing! I've tried cm10, liquidsmooth, and pacman countless times, but this rom is perfection. Thanks for the link, I wanted to try 4.3 illusion but it seems extremely buggy. I too have not found any bugs on this rom yet (finger crossed), not bad for a discontinued beta. I wish they would of continued working on 4.3

Trust me, your putting this up is very much appreciated! And don't let any of us add to your stress level, try to remember that in these posts, tone is near impossible to convey perfectly. If someone is going to verbally attack though, you'll know it. There are lots of times our posts are short and pointed, but it's simply because we already do a lot here and just want to make the point and move on. I promise you that nothing said here so far was meant personally or negatively at all. To me, xda can be a great place to escape real life for a while and still be constructive with your time. I hope this proves true for you as well!
As to your questions:
1. It's kind of hard to say tbh. Technically it's probably not considered development if you just make some minor changes/improvements, tweaks, and do a bit of theming to an existing, previously developed Rom. I think it would probably have to be determined by the amount of modification you do. Maybe someone else can chime in on this one, or you could always ask a mod what they think.
I've seen some releases in the development section that definitely would not meet the criteria, so once you implement some changes and make it yours, so to speak, I wouldn't see it as any kind of problem to move it there. Until then it will probably be viewed as more of a support thread though.
2. The part that was in question wasn't with how you thanked and gave credit to the dev. You did perfectly fine on that. The thing we didn't see addressed was whether or not you sought permission from them before posting. Knowing now that you did, it's not an issue at all. But there have been plenty of times where someone would post someone else's work, and give proper credit to the dev, but never asked if they were ok with them posting it. Even though their intentions in some instances were pure, it often would end up with the dev getting pissed and the thread being closed or removed.
Speaking for myself, whenever I see something familiar posted by someone other than the original developers, I automatically wonder if they got permission to do so. And if it's not stated, I or someone else will ask. It's not to be mean or to cause problems, but more to prevent them, and as stated, to look out for the devs interests. None of us wants to see them leave due to lack of respect or common courtesy.
Getting too long so I'll leave it at that! Thanks again!
This all being said, I've been working on speeding up and prolonging battery life. It's already smooth, so I'm just going to squeeze as much battery life out of it as possible. I will either release files you can push, or a .zip depending on everyone's preferences. That being said, battery life was nice, 4hrs, 30 minutes off my first charge cycle of on screen time. I'll upload the pic soon.
1. First line of work is the build.prop
2. Second line of work is within the init.d
3. Third line of work is going to be replacing the kernel with either KT747/Lean
4. Fourth line of work is going to be recommending/including a good inverted GAPPS package

Yeah, a zip would be great. I have pretty decent battery life already, but any way to squeeze out more would be great. I also use the kt747 kernel, but when I attempted to use the TK mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207286 in conjunction with it, it completely messes up when I try to apply their build.prop mod.

Yeah, a zip would be great. I have pretty decent battery life already, but any way to squeeze out more would be great. Yeah, TKMod works great! We discovered a couple months ago with the latest release that their modified build.prop was not working for us for some reason. Go ahead and install TKMod but keep your current build.prop. And I use the sysctrl & modified Crossbreader too.
EDIT: from RErick in the above mentioned link-
"Uninstall the build.prop. its not that important. If it doesn't work it doesn't need to be there. Obviously we would Luke for everyone to have it, but its not our pride and joy. If the sysctrl and cross breeder works that's 95 percent of the good stuff"
Works for me!
DEVICE: SGH-T999 + ROM: Illusions 4.2.2 + KERNEL: KT747 - LJ7 + TK Mod 2.4 + Crossbreader = A FREAKIN' BEAST! now Free

Ohh okay nice, but can I ask how did you get init.d installed for the sysctrl mod? Should I use Uni-Init? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849

SS's Odexed Blue refugee camp

figured since SS closed his dev thread we could start a thread to help each other out with issues and for people like kaotic mpc and other add on creators to post any new toggles, screens, etc
And thanks and "happy trails", Steve! You did great work on the GS3!

it is a sad day when the odexed blue thread gets closed. I will be on the GS3 until April at least. I hopped on M.O.A.R. v6. Its a fast, stable ROM and whats great, you can theme things to look slightly Odexed Blue!
I will keep my flash-ables up in my folder!

Had to smile at the title of this thread
I was very sad to see Steve move on, but I'm happy for him and his Note3. If the spouse decides to upgrade from the Note2 we will definitely check out whatever SS is doing.
I decided to take the plunge - yesterday I flashed Wicked Sensations, with a bit of an experiment. I did the nandroid, the wipes, the install all on Clockwork recovery. Also downloaded the MD4 modem. I was warned against the Advanced Restore for all data, but I did it and everything seems to be working fine so far. I like the Kuban Updater but I think it will work better for me once I (eventually) change to the TWRP recovery.
I'll report back on battery life, etc.
I miss Odexed Blue but for now Wicked Sensations is very nice.

If ur too worried about switching to twrp all at once I would recommend checking out @CNexus recovery switcher... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274796. It uses the aroma installer to install twrp ,cwm ,and cwm touch. That way you can test out twrp and if u don't like it it's not hard to get right back to what u like.

I was a very dedicated Odexed Blue user too. Actually still have it as my daily, but now all of the google updates are happening and my apps are ugly again.
I was curious about doing an advanced restore. Did you do it for data only? Even the odexed apps work? This makes me much more likely to make the switch. At least until I upgrade my phone in March. However, from what I've been reading I'm not so sure I'm going to jump to the Note 3. When the biggest complaint on the newest phone is call quality I really question what the manufacturers are focusing on.

Yes, I did the Advanced Restore - Data Only...and yes, everything has been working fine. I was prepared to revert completely via nandroid if I had encountered any issues - but there were no issues whatsoever. Once I felt comfortable, I replaced my recovery and did a nandroid of the new set up.
Spouse has a Note2. Spouse isn't really a power user and hasn't shown any interest in the Note3 so we are waiting. I don't know anyone local with a Note3, so I haven't checked out the call quality.
3 out of our 5 family lines are now off contract - mine and the other remaining contract line will go off in the spring so we are waiting to figure out our next move. For now I'm perfectly fine with my S3 w/extended OEM battery and Wicked Sensations.
In general Sprint has been very good to us - we have LTE nearly everywhere we go and the only dead spot in our county seems to reside in spouse's office, so Sprint gave us a free Airave. But paying $250/month for the five lines plus Airave is getting to be a drag. I'm the only data hog in the family - typical use over 5 to 6 GB/month as no WiFi at work and I use Google Maps turn by turn for travel. So we are weighing options.

Well...after looking at the new T-Mobile plans and testing their coverage with a prepaid SIM for a couple of days, we have decided to move to T-Mobile. We will be saving $100/month with 2 unlimited lines & 2 with 2.5GB. I moved Mom to Ting so she could keep her old flip phone. Her service before tax will be $9/month.Found nice phones on Swappa - need to sell my Sprint phones. We will break even on switching costs including $140 in EFTs few months...after that it's all savings for us.

You can edit the build.prop file to get the ota notifications to stop. I thought that I was locked to odex roms as well, but I've made the switch over to Wicked Sensations (not the 4.3 version yet, but Dazed does have one, there are 2 separate threads for MD4 and MK3) and its a similar experience to Odexed Blue.

Did you mount it r/w?
Someone else was having problems doing it with root explorer. Search the market for build prop and you will find an editor

Go back a page or 2 and there are full instructions. You dont change the version to 4.3 you have to change the build.
