Touch phones like ours have unresponsive touch keys because it isnt that sensitive like in apple products..and as long as lag is concerned it shouldnt be much... Try contacting service center if it persists any longer

I sent my phone to samsung service center. They said the less sensitivity of the return key may be caused by my screen protector. They asked me to remove it and tried for few more days.
Maybe you also can try it.

Oh i also try it ....... Thanks friend...

yes, the thickness of the screen protector affects the sensitivity..
my phone (S5360) has a quite thick screen protector and it makes the back and menu buttons dont work.. and then magically working again..
my friend has a thin one, and his buttons work well even its covered.
other tip: try cutting your screen protector to fit only the screen. so it dont block the back and menu button.

Confirm this is a problem with this device. Just purchased and without any screen protector there is a noticeable lag. or at times didnt work.
Changed to a new device after going to service center but the problem still persists.

its not responding due to lagging.

sometimes it just because of oil/dust accumulated on the back button screen area, happens on mine most of the time, just try cleaning your screen every now and then

try it..

I also have the same problem with mine, and it's been happening since the very first day, with and without screen protector. Looks like the button works best if you touch on its upper left side and not on the middle. Looks like a desing flaw to me.

I've added vibrate to back & menu button. It vibrate when you touch it. Now i know if it is responding or not.

I can also confirm lagging on back key. I just got my brand new (secondary) phone Galaxy Y Duos and I found this lag is annoying. Is there any solution available for this ?

in my opinion, this problem belong to hard ware

i ported techno duos custom rom to mine sgy and its much better than stock. more responsive and faster.

Only left two on screen buttons show when booting up!?

Not sure if this just my phone? When I boot up the first two on screen buttons (centre and left) show while only after a few seconds does the right button pop up.
Is that a problem?

kinda, would be nice if they would all apear at the same time!
It's really not a big deal as long as they all show up.. mine shows up maybe two seconds after the left side.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I was under the impression they only show up when needed such as the 3 dots for the menu button, when you boot up no programs are running so it could be a possibility that it doesn't show up because the is no need for that button.

If that's the problem, just wait till major issues show up, such as bad battery life etc..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I have had the phone since launch in the UK, and apart from the volume bug, have no issues at all. In fact I find the battery life great, lasts all day for me, which is all I need! The fact that the buttons don`t come on at the same time is not a big problem, just would be a nice finishing touch to a fantastic phone.

[Q] Note 2 just wont turn on

I recently bought a new note 2, and everything was good and I love it!
But yesterday I was on the phone to a friend and initially I tried putting him on speaker phone, but the screen wouldn't turn on, only the soft touch keys at the bottom lit up. I thought nothing of it and continued my phone call.
It wasn't until he hung up I noticed i still coudn't the damn thing on. So i removed the battery and re inserted it. Here's where things get interesting though, now whenever i try to power it up, i get a little red light in my proximity sensor (i think) that flashes for about half a second.
I've tried soft rest, which does the same thing ( makes the proximity sensor light up for half a second)
Hard reset which does the same thing.
I haven't rooted the phone or anything. Luckily its still under manufacture warranty and I'll get samsung to have a look at it, but any thoughts on what it could be?

Well, I can tell the that the red light is normal, I get that too and its just because its booting up, when you turn your phone on, what happens exactly?
Thanks for the reply. When I press the power button, around a second later the red light blips for half a second and turns off, but the OS doesn't boot up and nothing happens.

Maybe you too.... Sorry that sucks.
This PSA was sent Flow style from my Note 2 N-7100
Now i am really getting worriyng about this, does note2 has started SDS ?
atleast 3-4 cases are reported with same symptoms.
Anyway can you tell
You were on which ROM when this happened?
Are you getting to reboot in recovery/download mod?
@dingokevin I had a read over the thread you linked, and I fear the worst has happened to my note 2. This seems like a serious issue and even a flaw with the motherboard perhaps? Thank the lord it is still under warranty. R.I.P old friend.
@dr.ketan Im not sure what SDS stands for... Yeah I was running stock touchwiz 4.1.1 I think. No modifications and no root what so ever, and nope :/ I tried holding down volume down key + home button + power but no cigar, just the proximity light flashes briefly.
SDS - sudden death syndrome
And if you are unable to get into download/recovery mode then nothing can be done except send it to service station. it highly suggests sudden death which is very known issue for SGS3.
Replying to your query at other thread, you will get motherboard replacement if it is under warranty.
Ahh thats probably whats happened then. Thanks guys, I'll send it off to samsung and have a word or two with them to see why this is happening to many people!
If possible share outcome here too.

I was just reading up on some possible causes here on XDA with peoples S3's and someone suggested corrupted NAND memory.. I think this maybe the case because before the phone call I had installed Gangster Rio (which i honestly did purchase off the play store, hand on heart) and after playing it for a while decided to un install it and get a refund. Could me doing this have caused the NAND memory to corrupt? The game is a pretty large file...

I highly doubt it was screen damage, imho. I only received the phone last friday and have been cradling it like a fragile little baby, Its never been out of my sight lool.
Maybe i just got really unlucky and ended up with a faulty device.
If screen fault then in such case usually you can hear boot up sound. It seems your case very well fits to sds category only.

Hi Guys,
Got up this morning having left my Note 2 turned on and on charge overnight to discover this same fault -
slow flashing Red light and phone totally dead.
Unable to do anything to rectify the situation.
Still under warranty of course, phone only released in October 2012.
Is this a fault with the phone which necessitates replacement or just a battery problem?
Would be grateful for any advice / guidance / help.
Thanks,
Mike Longley.

It seems also like SDS send it to Repair AFAIK is a chip problem, not battery so you can't do anything to repair it. If it is under warranty and with counter at 0 send it. They must repair it.

It shouldnt be sds
Because in sds u can see the samsung logo and you can access the download mode
If you turn on the phone and u r hearing the boot sound then congratulation its not sds its a screen problem for sure

and i can even ring the phone and it rings even recieves txt msgs still...
but the screen stays blank...doesnt even light up...i had a look at the sds
posts and other forums i think i might have to replace the screen...
looking on ebay i found a couple for around $300 with the digitizer and
only $15 for the glass screen covers and bezel...
does anyone know where else i could possible get these parts from?
considering the hassles im also thinking i might just post the phone on
ebay...

Screen does not recognize S-Pen

Dear All,
Lately I'm experiencing a strange issue with my mobile. The S-Pen just stopped working. I thought at the beginning that the S-Pend is defected, but after trying it in a different Note 2 devices it worked fine. Now, the problem is in the screen, it does not recognize this Spend and neither other pens I tried on it. I have a screen protector, but the S-Pen was working fine on it before. What do you this is the reason behind this strange action??
Thanks a lot
try a hard reset.
Does the phone still detect when the s pen is taken out of/placed into the phone?
If not, it could be an issue of that coupled with s-pen battery saving being enabled.

Excellent question! Try rebooting your device. If no go there back up your needed things and factory reset/restore the device. If that fails and you are on a custom rom go back to stock and test.
Thanks a lot .. I was on an original ROM with Root enabled. I did a factory rest multiple times. i even installed the CM10.1 ROM to test it but with no luck!
And the phone recognize that the pen is pulled out when I pull out the S-Pen ..
What is meant by Hard Reset??
Thanks a ton for your support and for the fast response.
Might sound basic, but are u using magnets around it? My pen doesnt work when i have the case on, because it has a magnet on it. It may be that. Try it without the case on.
Hard reset = losing ALL of your internal storage (game data, etc), and starting afresh, like you did when u first took it out of the box. Sometimes called a factory restore/reset.
Thanks a lot for the follow up. Yes I had a case with magnet. I now removed this magnet from the case. I'm now without the magnet for almost 5 days with no luck. Does the magnet may corrupt the screen?
Its tym for you to unroot and take it to service center .
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Hmmmm... I'm not an expert, but I'm quite sure that magnets don't 'corrupt ' or permanently damage the screen. As above, by aukhan, service center, I think.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
its the case!
I'm not going to let my galaxy note 8.0 be with a defect because a part of the screen cannot be detected by the s-pen. After reading this thread I noticed that the part of the screen that does not work with the s-pen is where the magnet is on my case. After I removed the case, the s-pen worked perfectly.
Thanks to this thread it has spared me from lining up at the Samsung service center though I'm now off to get me a new case.

Is it still under warranty?
If your note 2 is not under warranty, I suggest you go to download mode and flash a stock ROM with Odin. If that's not the case you should probably send it back to Samsung, your carrier or whoever you send phones back to . ^^

Yes, its still under warranty. I will bring my phone to phone repair shop tomorrow and see if somebody can fix it.
I just never flashed any type of ROM to my phone, so scared to make it even worse, but thanks for suggestion anyway
Hopefully you'll get it fixed under your warranty. It doesn't look like it's not the LCD's fault as it seems to be working when you get to download mode. So don't let them rip you off on a new LCD.

Sudden Death Syndrome
Hi there
This is known as Sudden Death Syndrome, it's caused by a faulty memory chip. My Note2 just came back from repairs for this problem, they replaced the PC board and all seems to be well now.
It will have to go in for repairs.
Hello. How much did you pay for repair or it was under warranty and you had nothing to pay?
Thank you.

having the same problems... going Samsung Service Center tomorrow.
i had the same problems, freezing and rebooting in download mode, i was sure i had to throw phone away, then i was almost ready to bring the phone to assistance, but first i decided to try to flash other roms just for fun like aosp, leaked etc and also i reflashed different versions of mj5 bootloader found on different posts many times (now i'm on revhd23)... and... surprise surprise the phone seems reborn... very fast smooth and no freeze, sorry i don't have any explanation for this!
