my tmobile dash is sim-unlocked (i'm using movistar right now. it came with wm5 and i upgraded to tmo wm6 which i think it sucks (too slow for me).. now, what if i upgrade to kavana's wm6.1, will i be able to use my movistar sim card or my device will be locked again? (always talking about sim card lock)

No sim lock from now on.
WM6 is faster than WM5. Carefully see what icons in windows\startup directory. If you don't use voice dial you can delete all icons exept wifiblabla icon.
Last Kavana ROM will make you happy.
right now i have the htc rom (i finally got rid of tmo) and it works just fine. everything's faster and better.
what about kavana's rom?. is worth the change?. is it fast and stable?

Yes, the MDA Vario 2 is a TYTN. I have been using Black 2.0 for ages and it works great.
Search the forums, I would say that 10% of all posts are by Vario 2 owners.
Think I'll go for the Black 2.5 as seems to have the t-mob rom

H means you're using HSDPA and there can be a big difference over normal 3G but it depends on what you are doing.

On older radio, does HSDPA still work even if you just have the 3G icon? I'm enabled for H... but never see the icon, I presume cos I'm on the original radio.

Can PTT be remapped or is it hardwired like WM5 versions? If so does the WM5 work around work (though I doubt you've tested this since judging by your message you use PTT!)

Hate to ask the noob question oli but what is the difference between the two i.e. mfg and non-mfg. Does mfg mean yours is based off of the manufacturer's spl??

mfg has extra commands in the bootloader. these are not in shipped spl's i dont think. probably in the wiki somewhere. commands do thinks like hard reset, format the nand, and other stuff..

...In fact, this has got me thinking about the BA again. If only I could hard-wire a GPS receiver to it somehow (so I wouldn't have to mess about with Bluetooth and two car-chargers) my Kaiser wouldn't be on TomTom duties - the BA's mahoosive screen would be so much nicer
As soon as I'm within arms length of my BA I'll try the flash...

Mines on its last legs, backup battery is 100% dead, and the screen only works badly, but even then the finger scrolling works really well.
I cant get IE8 working, as It wont sync with my computer to put the files on.
the screen is so ugly compared to my Hermes though

Where you able to do a Rom Dump? Is the reason you could not sync do to Windows 7 or the BA?

If you wait until the 6.5 rom comes out in Nov/Dec time, then people will be able to strip it down and make custom roms. hope thats of some help.

I havent seen any custom Rom's for the TG01 but they will be out there soon just keep checking the forums (not just XDA-DEV)
