Hi. I have recently bought a Galaxy S21 FE from a third party reseller. I like the phone, so first things first I factory reset the device.
During the setup process, I am informed that "This phone will be configured by: SE UK". If I allow it to go ahead, it seems to progress just fine. Afterwards I can go though the settings to find 'Knox Configure', and in there it states that "This phone is customised by SE UK for Empty Profile", with an option to view "Company information". That states that an email of '[email protected]'.
I have searched the internet for this, and on here as well, but I might be using the wrong search terms. Samsung UK support state it is an enterprise device, but there is nothing to worry about as it is genuine Samsung confirmed by the SE UK company name.
Does anyone know anything about this? I like the phone, but if this present some kind of risk or downside, I will return to the reseller.
Thanks

From The Verge:
"Orange has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S III will receive its Quick Tap mobile payment system starting September 5th. Orange launched Quick Tap over a year ago, but the Galaxy S III is the first Android smartphone to use the system. Orange and Barclaycard provide the Quick Tap service, which they say is available in over 100,000 locations in the UK. The service allows users to make payments of up to £20 without having to enter a PIN.
Like other mobile payment wallets, Galaxy S III owners using Quick Tap in the UK can link up their various debit or credit cards from UK MasterCard or Visa. Orange is offering a £50 bonus credit for new customers when they activate Quick Tap, starting Wednesday."
What are the chances that the apk can be pulled and installed on the Galaxy Nexus? I'm fed up of waiting (for nearly a year) for Google Wallet in the UK.
I've explained a little about it here: http://www.nfcbrief.com/2012/09/orange-first-to-launch-uk-android-nfc.html
I'm assuming that Orange have opted to use the SIM as the secure element. If that's the case, it could be bad news for Nexus owners. I don't think stock AOSP Android has support for SIM secure elements (not 100% sure on this), meaning that, even if you acquired one of these new SIMs from Orange (and downloaded the Quick Tap apk), it likely wouldn't work with the Galaxy Nexus.
Custom ROMs might be able to fix that, though.

OH wow, I really hope this comes to Galaxy Nexus
Just saw your update on the article you posted:
"UPDATE: I've received word from Orange that they will indeed be using new SIMs as the secure element for Quick Tap on Android. This means that the majority of NFC-enabled Android devices will be able to use the application, as long as Orange have approved each device. Notable exceptions likely include the Nexus devices, as it is unclear whether Google have enabled SIM secure element support in 'vanilla' Android. Quotes can be found below."
That sucks! Any chance you could ask if the Galaxy Nexus will be supported? Seeing as you are already in touch with them?
And just out of curiosity what is the advantage of using a SIM as a secure element? Is there a chance that Google have enabled support for it?
Thanks
Hey folks,
I've got a brand-new Samsung Galaxy Book2 device. Great tablet, runs full Desktop Windows 10, including x86 emulation, and native ARM64 compiled app support of course.
The party ended when I found out its locked to AT&T.
I'm even an existing AT&T customer but their unlock request process didn't recognize the IMEI of the device, so I wasn't able to follow through with it. I have no contract and paid full price for the device so I'm already eligible for the unlock.
Having inserted my AT&T SIM into the device, their app didn't manage to read my cellular line number, instead displaying garbage.
Please see the attached screenshots. I circled the region where my cellular number displays as garbage. Disappointing to find such a buggy app inside an otherwise excellent hardware product and platform.
Does anyone know how to work around this buggy app to unlock the device? I'd really rather not have to return it...
I'm having the same issue.
For anyone reading this, if you bought a Samsung Galaxy Book2 Windows 10 (ARM) tablet (**SM-W737A**), there is an issue with AT&T customer support not knowing how to unlock these devices. If your Book2 has **arrived** from Samsung within the past 15 days you should go ahead and return the device as it will take a while for AT&T to figure out this mess.
##Issue
These devices are being shipped network locked to (AT&T) and they lack the internal documentation for the customer service agents to unlock them. These devices contain a **Qualcomm X20 Gigabit LTE** modem that requires a code to be entered by the user of the device before it can be used with a different carrier.
##Example
I bought my device from Samsung.com and it arrived a month later. This device is fully paid off. **This is not a subsidy or contract device**. When it arrived, the modem won't allow for me to use it with a FreedomPop sim.
[The device needs a password to unlock it.](https://i.stack.imgur.com/ws7aR.png)
[But AT&T thinks that its already unlocked.](https://i.stack.imgur.com/x6p2S.png)
##Problem
Calling advanced technical support does not help. (I've tried 10 times, each time taking over an hour for them to help). They think this is a problem caused by Samsung. As their system says that its unlocked and their documentation says that there is no code to enter to unlock it.
Even going into an AT&T store and having a store manager call customer support does not work. As AT&T is very rude to their own employees and doesn't believe the store manager as well. The documentation that the customer service agents have on this new and uncommon device is wrong.

Does anyone have an idea to solve unlock at&t the device?
Solution?
Hey Bro, did you found an solution for this device already?
Ever since I had the Note 10+ 5g, I had been able to use the band selection app to open the hidden menu which would allow me to select which bands to connect to and which bands to avoid. This was particularly important as Band 3 (1800Mhz) would give me the worst speed and is at the same time the band/frequency the phone connects to constantly. Band 3 is also the band which makes it difficult to get a 5g connection.
I just received the May 2022 update for my phone and I decided to update due to the camera stability improvements. After completing the update I notice that my phone is no longer connected to 5g. I check the band the phone is connected to and notice it connected to Band 3. Thinking I may have forgot to turn off the Band 3, I try opening the band selection app to which it gives and error that it can't find the hidden menu.
I don't know why the menu has suddenly disappeared or been disabled, but it is a very important feature for me. Could anyone explain what's going on?
NOTE:
Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5g (N976B) (UK)
Same Problem here but off course no one cares. This was to good to be true and working for so long time. Using galaxy note 20 ultra 5g and as you say with some latest update they removed or changed/renemaded the hidden network settings. No access possible. This is a big problem for me couldn't use my phone anymore because it forced me to the damn Telekom b8 Band where I have almost nothing around 100kb/s. This is rediculus the automatic Band selection chooses the strongest lte band but without bandwidth. If I switch to band 3 I get 2 bars and over 100mb down
how to unlock network band in samsung galaxy m21. after security patch update.
Rule #1 - if an OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... let it be!
Upgrades and updates can and do break Samsung's especially on older models. Then instead of a fully functional device you are forced to waste time trying find a work around. Malware would cause far less trouble than this!
At the very least wait at least a few months before upgrading so you can see how it's working in the wild rather than depending on promises that may never be fulfilled.
You can try Samsung members forum.
Otherwise contact Samsung tech support or take it to a Samsung Experience center at a Best Buy.
If the menu is truly inaccessible (do you have the right access code, it may have changed?), all you can do is wait for the patch from Samsung.
An adb edit may be possible.
Otherwise you can reflash to the last known good firmware version and don't update!
yaesudx don't blame others for what you did. You knew the upgrade/update could be dangerous when you took it. If not you learned a valuable lesson... the hard way.

Try asking Dr.Ketan
I'm have zero experience flashing Androids. I've flashed a bunch of firmware but Androids are a lot harder than most devices. The last thing you want is a hard bricked N10+
I don't see any option to enable network band. becoz it has been disabled by samsung.
Just curious.
I can hear some of other users' news about A12 update while mine's not,
so I've searched for information about how it looks & how the new features work.
But no one tells about the experience itself
Share your thoughts about A12 if you don't mind.
Unlocked retail version in the US here. No A12 update yet, unfortunately.
Same retail US as well, hopefully get it ASAP🥹
I've just bought an used Razr 5G and it had A12 already installed. Slovenia, EU.

Yay, I just got the A12 update on my US Retail version.
Yep. Came through Cricket Wireless for me.
I got the Android 12 update about two months ago (November 2022) in the US on Mint Mobile.
5G stopped working AS SOON AS THE UPDATE COMPLETED and restarted because unknown to me, the carrier network settings were not set for "NR" networks and did not get set properly through the update.
Mint Moile tehncal support connected me directly to Motorola Technicians who had absolutely no idea what to do, it was not in their scripts. They wanted to "repair" my Razr 5G for $966 USD when the current new retail is around $500 USD. After a full factory reset as recommended by Motorola tech support, and having no apps loaded, still no 5G., leaving me to then restore everything back on my phone from various backups, because Motorola's RSA is garbage.
Anyway, a guy on the Motorola / Lenovo forum queued me into the Phone Test menu command sequence, I enabled the NR networks and 5G started instantly and I have not had an issue since.

ABSOLUTELY!!
Since the Motorola Tech Forum decided that fixes sharing the keystroke codes to their products are not ALLOWED on their forum.
Make sure you are in a 5G signal area.
Enter *#*#4636#*#* in the phone dialer which should immediately display the "Testing" screen,. That initial sequence is one of many standard Andriod code sequences for accessing just about everything in Android.
Touch "Phone Information".
Touch the "Set Preferred Network Type"
A list of all the network types available should then display.
First note the network that is currently selected in case setting back is needed for operations.
For me it was recommended I then select "NR Only". The phone immediately went into 5G mode, then automatically selected the network with the NR features combination as shown for all my other signal compatibility.
Try it WITH caution, NO GUARANTEES you won't brick your device. If it works, great.
I am not sure why this is not in the standard troubleshooting scripts from the Agents or the Motorola Tech Support, but I'll bet it has something top do with getting a $1000 repair order than actually providing good customer service.
I think you just got super lucky. Most carriers have that lock out where you can't make any changes. It took me two months of reaching out to Cricket to get 5g working on the razr. An actually carrier settings provision update had to be created and sent out to all Razr on Cricket network to enable the feature.

No, that was all deliberate planning.
The primary reason I left, no RAN AWAY from Verizon, and any other "carrier restricted" phone: far too much restriction on what I could run on my smartphone.
The final Verizon straw was when they told me my new phone, the Verizon 2019 Razr at that time, was 5G compatible with their Verizon 5G networks, which they knew did not work at a corporate level, that was the last straw after digging into the technical specifications and discovering the Verison branded phone radio did not support the correct Verizon 5G Verizon frequency installations. I had been with Verizon since it was known as Airtouch in the late 1980's when I had an analog bag phone.
I returned that 2019 Razr phone for a full refund and quit the can-you-hear-me-now network.
No more carrier locked/ carrier frequency restricted phones for me ever again.
I started the search for only all band, fully unlocked phone models so I and my other family members would have full flexibility of my settings and carriers and had coverage where I needed it using other networks towers.
I will never buy anything other than an all band retail unlocked phone again, nor will I use a service that does not support an unlocked retail version of my preferred phone.
All I would have gotten from Verizon would have been "we are sorry your phone does not work as expected, would you like to buy another one for three times the price and we can give you a $50 trade-in as a loyal customer because that phone does not work - er- is not supported on our network !?"
As consumers we can take our business elsewhere.
So, Yes, I got my moto razr 5g XT2071-3 directly from the Motorola website, unlock. But each carriers, and each mvno have the ability to lock or enable certain settings on the phone through the carriers settings version. If you go to Settings, Network, Mobile Network you will see a carrier setting version number. Each provider will have a different number. This is to enable features like 5g, wifi calling, hotspot, hd-calling. ect.

done!
Post this in more places. It needs to be seen by as many people as possible
you want a manufacturer to support on their devices any OS / Software? really?
will you ask for warranty and support as well after that?
will you cry when the device is slow and say that "Samsung is the worse!"?
would you EVER expect Apple to do that?
be real guys. if you can't install a software on a specific device... that's not the OS's problem or the manufacturers.... it's the developer's issue.
Carrier locked phones are banned in the U.K....

UK to ban sale of carrier-locked phones from December 2021
I can flash any of 93 different firmwares to my model of phone, Z Fold4, F936B, for Europe, Africa, Asia, North & South America and Australasia.
Carrier branded phones are those that have carrier firmware, apps, features and branding added at the behest of the carrier and may be sold by the carrier at a subsidy. These phones can also be flashed with the above firmwares but are not eligible for Samsung's Beta testing as modifying each and all of the carrier branded phones for such testing is a time consuming, costly and a pointless exercise.
Simply put, if you wish to take part in Beta testing, buy a stock, non carrier branded, device.
Ideally this petition would force manufacturers to use a UEFI/BIOS like firmware on the device enabling people to install any single/multiple operating systems on a single device i.e. Android on internal storage, Linux on SD card & Windows on USB storage drive.
