Samsung Note 2 Data Recovery After Factory Reset (4.4.2) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello,
Need to recover files, photos etc. from a Samsung Note 2(Sprint) phone.
The Android version on it is 4.4.2 (kitkat?)
It was factory reset.
Need advice as to what my next steps should be.
Any advice also on precautions I should take would be highly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

[Q] Android 4.2.2 JB Downgrade to 2.3.6 GB for Galaxy Wonder GT-I8150

Hi All,
Good Day!
I have an upgraded Android 4.2.2 for my Samsung Galaxy Wonder GT-I8150 but somehow I just don't like the way the battery drains faster. I would like to revert back the changes I did, I want to downgrade back to 2.3.6 Gingerbread.
I used Odin when I upgraded my phone to 4.2.2 and just followed the tutorial in the internet sites and downloaded the necessary files to upgrade.
Now I am currently looking for the tar file for 2.3.6 but for now I have no luck because the hotfile site was already shutdown. But I am still hoping to find one.
Here are my questions:
1. Is the procedure of downgrading is the same with Upgrading?
2. If ever I could not able to find the tar file or the image for 2.3.6, is it possible to use the image that I backed up when I was upgrading to 4.2.2? If so, Can you give me the details or procedures on how to do it please?
Any replies are highly appreciated.
Thank you.

I just have a problem on that thread, I can't able to post a reply due to the reason "New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums."
I would like to request to them to have a mirror for the stock ROM for Philippines since Hotfile is not hosting anymore.

What you mean is to flash back to samsung's stock ROM which is gingerbread 2.3.6? If that so, read the following thread for information:
[HowTo] Flash a firmware with ODIN on Samsung Galaxy W(I8150)
Samsung Galaxy W Stock Firmwares
Note: Before flashing stock firmware, be sure to do clean installation (pristine)

Thanks a lot.
Regarding your "Note", what do you mean for clean installation? Do you mean that I need to wipe data, factory reset and cache? Sorry for asking just want to make sure..

Yes, boot to recovery (CWM) then wipe data / factory reset, go to "mounts & storage" and format /system, format /sdcard0 (internal storage) then turn off your phone and flash stock firmware via odin.

Looking for stock restore, GS3 i747 4.3

Hello, I have been here all night trying to recover my GS5 i747, I have TWRP but my phone does not seem to work with Micro SD cards, I was getting a blank SD error when it worked just fine in other phones. Does anyone here have a stock rom I can restore via Odin and be done with this once and for all? Apparently the phone is now wiped and I can only access TWRP and nothing else.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks so much, so are you saying that it's now safe to directly use Odin to downgrade to 4.1 from 4.3 OTA?
I've been reading a lot of warnings against that, and the highest Sam has is 4.1
What precautionary measures would I need to take?

You can't use Odin if you were already on 4.3 prior to losing your OS. Any attempt to flash 4.1.1 via Odin may result in a hard brick. Since you still have TWRP, use instructions and zip file in the thread below to restore your system to stock 4.3. Hope this works for you ....

Yes, a long delay is not unusual after a firmware restore. Usually, however, this can be avoided or limited if you wipe the cache/dalvik after the restore operation.

Don't try to downgrade it with Odin. You will brick your device.
You can also try this, I didn't try it but I guess it should work. If you're not sure what you're doing, don't try it.

You don't need to root, you need to use fastboot to flash a stock image. Download the 5.1.1 factory image and use fastboot to flash it. Should fix the problem.

Nexus Root Kit is the best way to reflash back the image, pretty easy too

I wouldn't use a root kit, learn how to do it manually with fastboot. Knowledge is power. Root kits are lazy.

I deleted stock apps, help! :(

Hello I tried rooting my device using Kingo Root, well it was rooted successfully. Now, I messed up in deleting some bloatware apps from a list I saw before making a backup . Then when I click the settings>about device, it crashes. Then when I try to factory reset, the apps I uninstalled didn't came back. Please let me know what to do, I just want to make the phone the way I got it then root it.
ps: I googled and some say flash the stock room, I'm scared to flash it because I don't know the firmware version of my phone since I can't access the About device of my phone. I'm in the Philippines btw.
pps: I don't know if it might help but, I installed Kies and the fimware was the latest and it was: PDA:NC2 / PHONE:NA3 / CSC:NC2 (AFR); I don't know how to read that, no google result so far. I'm planning to download firmware from this site: //samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9082
Please help me Thank you!

Put SuperSU in your SDcard
Just Flash this recovery with Odin
Make Sure "Auto-Reboot is not ticked Because Stock Android Restores Stock Recovery
When You get "RESET" in odin
Remove the battery from the and boot to recovery directly
And then flash SuperSU

Is there other ways to backup the things you have said? I just maid a nandroid backup using Clockwork Mod.
I have another question if it's not too much to ask but, do you know how to swap the internal and external memory of this phone? I would like to know how. Thanks for your help! Especially Yousef!

You can use Partition Backup app. Nandroid backup will backup most of the main partition, but i prefer third party app which will show some unseen partition.
As for the memory thing, i believe @Yousef Mohamed have better knowledge, he even made a flashable zip for expanding the internal memory size.

Gonna try it out thanks. I'm going to do what I learned from here to my future devices Yeah, I hope Yousef does reply.
EFS is most important "recoverable" partition
Bootloader partitions are the most important because without them you can't even boot the phone ( you can't boot to download mode , recovery mode or even the OS )
So you can't recover it

Try flashing cfautoroot with Odin: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
Alternatively, you can flash twrp and flash supersu from twrp.

Hi, thanks for replying. I'll check it out now
Ok so I checked the site .... it say "press the PDA button" but I only see the AP button is that fine?
If I did install .tar.md5 thing will this wipe my data?
Thanks for ur time @audit13 appreciated really^
No, it should not wipe data but, before flashing, I recommend that everyone back up their data before flashing anything.
PDA option is present in Odin 3.07 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1168421
Just saying I only need root so I can use Link2SD app and I wanted to use that Framaroot cause I can unroot easily, so please if u can to provide me a way to unroot as well. ig I should change the topic.

WOW! that's really super fast reply thanks.
After flashing with cfautoroot, boot the phone and allow supersu to update to make sure you retain root when the phone is rebooted.
To remove root, just choose full unroot from the supersu settings.

Man u r amazing thanks a bunch :fingers-crossed:
To do a full backup, flash twrp to the phone, boot into twrp, and create a full backup. Copy the backup to the computer and the phone's micro SD card to be safe.
You can then just flash supersu from twrp without using cfautoroot.
Thanks @audit13 I'll look for that now but, btw can I backed it up to the SD card directly? I don't have enough space in internal storage.
Yes, you can select the sd card as the backup location.
Twrp (tar version) can be flashed using Odin 3.07 in the pda slot: https://dl.twrp.me/t03g/
