noob question GM57AA vs GM65AA - OnePlus 7T Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi, I'm new here, I bricked my oneplus 7t (HD1900) by doing OTA upgrade and restored using msm tool and instruction from this forum and some youtube video. It wiped my phone and I was mad but at least it work now while i was stuck on the recovery boot. I compared to my wife phone and she has 57AA version while I now have 65AA which is very different in look and feel with the red cable club and all.
Q1 I downloaded the 57aa version but it come with a payload.bin file instead of the OPS file with msmdownload tool. How do I revert my phone to the 57AA version using this file?
Q2 how can I do a full backup of my phone to restore all app setting the way they were before if this happen again. I had a google cloud backup but it seem to only remember what I had installed and re-installed the app but I need to redo all configuration in all these app especially the microsoft authenticator app is problematic.

[Q] How to get Titanium Pro back after a fastboot install of android stock rom

Maybe a stupid question, but for me it is a problem.
Yesterday I had I problem after upgrading tot android 4.4.4.
Before the upgraded I had the Titanium Pro installed.
I used Titanium Pro to create I backup of my apps and data to the cloud.
I returned tot android 4.4.2. factory image via fastboot.
After I succesfully returned to 4.4.2 my Nexus 7 2013 did the initial standard setup (the same setup which is done when I started my Nexus for the first time). Then google started to restore my installed apps. But then something went wrong so not all my apps were restored (including Titanium Backup Pro). I need this app to restore all my data and previous installed apps.
If I go to google play and look in "my apps" it is indicated that Titanium Backup Pro is installed.
But if I look at all my apps, I see no Icon for Titanium Backup.
What should I do?
I dare not to uninstall it, because I am afraid that I have to buy again for the app, I already have paid for.
Any suggestions?
no worries
you can just uninstall and reinstall titanium(and ANY other apps) all you want, once you buy an app from the store it's bought forever across ALL devices. I've bought it once and installed it and still use it myself on 5 different devices and only payed once. I've factory reset and installed new ROMs on all my devices many times and each time just go to the store and reinstall it without paying. no worries there
Thanks. I deinstalled the app then installed. Now it works perfectly again.

[Q] LG VK810 Root (Unroot) Issue

So I bought an LG G Pad 8.3 vk810 from Swappa a while back and up until this point I had only used it for general web browsing but I recently decided I wanted to use it as a car tablet. Yesterday I tried installing the Google Search app so I could use the "OK Google" voice commands and it would not install, gave an error saying something to the extent of application could not be installed (-24). Then when I was searching for the issue I noticed that a software upgrade was rolled out yesterday as well, so I tried installing the software update figuring maybe this would fix my issue but that failed as well.
After doing a little more research I took a look at my software info and it said that it had been modified so I downloaded the Root Checker app and sure enough it said I had root access. I have no use for root access on this and honestly I know little to nothing about it so I did a search for how to unroot and somebody mentioned using the "Full Unroot" built into Supersu. I tried this and it looks like I no longer have root access, however it didn't help any other issues. Does anybody have any idea what is preventing me from installing the Google Search app or doing system updates? Without knowing a whole lot about rooting is there any easy way to fix my issue?
Thanks,
Sean

Hi!
The easiest for sure way to get your device to be the way you want it is to use "LG Flash Tool 2014" (Google for it on XDA) and download the KDZ file for 35A_08 5.0.2 that was just released. There's a link to it here [URL="[/URL].
You can *try* keeping your existing data/apps by using "Normal" mode in LG Flash Tool 2014, but I would personally move everything from internal storage that you want to keep and use "CSE" mode to completely wipe everything (except for your external SD card) and install it fresh. You'll have to set it back up the way you like it, but it will for sure be the way it's meant to be that way.
Thank you, I'm definitely not worried about deleting anything as I did 3 factory resets yesterday and erased everything anyway. What exactly does the KDZ file install? Does it send me back to factory settings and remove root?
Thanks again,
Sean

You're welcome! A KDZ puts an LG device back to a factory fresh version of whatever stock ROM the KDZ is for. It rewrites:
Bootloader (aboot.img)
Kernel (boot.img)
modem.img
recovery.img
rpm.img
tz.img
Etc, and overwrites all your partitions except for your external SD card.
So it removes root and anything else you might have customized about it.

Odd & problematic behaviour after 6.0 update Any ideas ?

First of all, I salute everybody that chips in to this comunity, active or less ! G'day, gents !
And now, to the problem(s) :
I have a stock 16g/2g D855 (Romania/Orange), no root, no tweaks, nothing, except an original battery change couple of months back.
My phone didn't take OTA updates, don't know why, but i've been updating it via PC Suite / Mobile Support Tool.
Last update was 5.0, all was fine.
Now, on the other hand, after the update to 6.0, a small hell broke loose.
First of all, until now, after the power on LG image, i had a small LG animation, now it has changed to some stupid Orange explosion crap + wallpaper. That doesn't bother me that much, but the fact that whatever wallpaper i choose, it changes it back to the Orange one right after restart...
Second, and third, and fourth & fifth ...
QuickCircle apps no longer work (even though they are activated and selected), so my "submarin"ish flip case is useless... Facedetection, no reaction... KnockCode, same thing, doesn't even lock the phone, no matter the security type. I can't even change my Display Off style anymore. Developer Options, gone, not available for this user (altough user is owner) and clicking hundreds of times on build no. doesn't do anything. Notification bar, no kind of available selection on it (like wifi or data, etc), except user & the notification button in the button bar doesn't even slide it down. Plus a couple more of these "small unfortunate events" :silly:
But the biggest problem is that when and if i turn on the wifi, the phone almost instantly restarts, and keeps doing so if i'm not fast on the touch and disable it (like split second after finshing boot) and thus becoming an unusable plastic...:crying:
So i've tried reinstalling the update, via Recovery Upgrade two times (all went smooth) but problems are still there. I'm starting to think that this might be a something wrong with the update. Eitherway, main concern is, what do i do now ? Wireless is 30% of my job...
Specifing that i'm pretty much a noobie at this kind of stuff, thank you all for taking the time to read about my problem !:highfive:
the software may be having some issues, i recommend that you download the kdz file for the software and flash it via flashtool, all problems should be fixed and the o2 bloat will be removed.

Thank you for your reply
But doesn't this require root ?
And most of all, won't i lose everything ? Settings, accounts, contacts, data ? Or is there anyway to backup everything ?

It doesn't require root.
But it would certainly wipe everything including your internal sd. The only way is to take a backup using any app and moving the backup files temporarily to a pc or any other external storage.

Ok, seems logical. Any advice about some software that cand do that properly ?
I mean all & all. Accounts, passwords, contacts and so on...because I can't remember my Google account pass (or any other one for that matter) for the life of me, and the maps to the nav app are a pain to dld.
And besides that, can the backup be actually performed, since i can't access the Developer Debug Mode ?

There are many apps on the play store for taking backups. You can use the to take backups of apps, contacts, messages and so on.
However to backup accounts, passwords and app data you require a rooted device and could use titanium backup.

Well then that's out of the question... Having no data plan, any Play Store installation is ruled out, could probably be done via PC Suite.
I've tried using Helium, doesn't do much good. I'm thinking about rooting the phone, but with my luck, i'll probably brick it.
I wonder if there's anyway to find my Google account pass...
L.E. according to devtester, LGD855 MyIMEI A6RRTN D85530C_00 (D85530C_00_0211) is the latest version for it, pretty much the same as my last update. So ,do i re.dld this one and flash it or i go with the D85530B_00_1217 from the Quick Download page ?
L.E.2 : So far i've tried both kdz files mentioned above, plus D85521C_00_1204.kdz (Lollipop). All unsuccesful. In Download Mode, using Flash Tool as is, selecting Normal than Start. The Marshmallows kdz show the exact same problems and Lollipop doesn't even want to install. It goes up tu 4% on Pc (0 on phone) and Retry appears until Exit.
Aw man, the truth MUST be out there...
Try thos link to fix the lg flash tool stuck at 4%

Thanks for the link, but i managed to somehow solve the problem :good:
ok, so it took some time, but finally figured this bugger out.
For anyone that needs assistance in the future, let me know and i'll support you as much as i can.
It took me 2 crazy noobie a** days, and almost lost everything, but somehow i managed not to.
So, from the start, let me just say that Remember Password on FF was heaven for me.
Mainly, for not losing everything, you definetly NEED to know your Google account. For me it was setup before to back everything up, but somehow, i forgot the pass This is where i used my PC and logged in to G+ (again, thank God for pass remembering) and reset the pass by sms. Spot on !:victory:
Then connect your phone via usb and within PC Suite (Lg Bridge didn't work for me btw) drag & drop everything from Phone to PC. Apps, contacts, messages, all.
Next, the only sofware that actually worked in flashing my G3 was LGUP. Had some problems with it by not recognising my phone, but i found a version that worked.
Once that done, i removed the Sd Card, entered Download mode and tried flashing D85530B_00_1217.kdz (MM) by selecting Upgrade. That din't work. Same problems. Tried it again, but this time selecting Refurbish (wich wipes out everything) and voila ! Alive & kickin' !
Then it's just a matter of patience resetting your phone back. Enter the Google account with your freshly changed pass and the phone will basically ask you to restore itself back.
This was a long story short, but if anyone needs more detailed aspects, let me know.
The only thing i didn't figure out yet is why the Orange bloated kdz had Slow Mo option for camera and this standard one doesn't.
Thanks to everybody for their support and the community for hosting us !
Cheers:highfive:

On 6.x, want to upgrade to 7.1.2 (update: can't restore from backup and need help)

So i'm really interested in upgrading to 7.1.2 so i can install new camera app so i can use ZSL
i've been holding off on upgrading past MM because i need my customization and control from xposed
there is an unofficial xposed, so that will help ease me over till the official gets released
my question is, what happens if i keep xposed and do the upgrade via flashfire
do i need to uninstall all my xposed modules then xposed before i upgrade?
my phone is rooted already, so i know that when i upgrade via flashfire, i will still be rooted
at the same time i want to try out magisk
if i do this, am i suppose to unroot, upgrade, then install magisk? or does it not matter
also, i will be obviously making a backup of my phone, so i should be completely safe to play around with everything right?
any advice welcomed
update
well, i messed up
everything was working, but xposed didn't play nicely, so i attempted to restore my twrp backup and now it's failing
i used adb backup twrp command and saved it directly to my pc since my 16gb didn't have enough space
i checked off everything except for the last check box efs, this created a 10gb .ab file
when i tried to restore it, it restarts the phone during/after system and boots into the google blank screen with unlock icon
the closest thing i've googled so far is this: https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery/issues/133 which says it might have some issue because of the compression...
(note that i did not password protect the backup)
i'm wondering if this is the problem, can i uncompress the .ab file from my computer and manually install each of the components?
very tired and exhausted from this, hopefully someone has an idea of what i should do

Android ID Backup / Restore Pixel XL Oreo

Ok folks, I've been googling for a while now and can't get a straight simple answer. I have an app, MoviePass, that once installed links to your Android ID and won't allow you to change but once per month. I didn't know this until already changing it once, so now I can't flash anything for another 30 damn days or the app won't work. Here's my question: How do I backup and then restore my Android ID? And before you answer , it has apparently changed in Oreo. I found a ton of posts showing how to do it with titanium Backup, but that method apparently no longer works in Oreo because of the changes made in how the Android ID is stored per app now or something. So please does anyone have a PROVEN method that you know 100% works that I can try ? I don't wanna downgrade to Nougat just to be able to do this lol. This app is holding me up from flashing awesomeness!
Stuck in the same boat.. I have to do a backup, then restore my old rom to use movie pass and then restore my backup. It's super annoying but at least it works. Hope there is a way to fix this for us who flash often

I actually managed to get it working. I have Titanium Backup Pro, not sure if you need that version or the free one, but I did a full backup of the app and then restored the app after flashing a new ROM and downloading Titanium Backup. The app restored, and MoviePass didn't give me any problems.

I've tried with titanium backup but it didn't work. I went from andoid N to O and my phone says it's a pixel XL (I have axon 7) so that may have something to do with it..?
Edit: So I just tried again and it worked! Thanks

No problem! Yeah they changed the way Android ID worked and how it is associated with applications in O versus previous versions of Android. Glad it worked !
If you want to restore the Android id of a previous version on the same phone then you have to just Backup "Settings storage" and then restore it.
