Steps to proceed? Recommended ROMs? - Redmi Note 9 Pro (International Model) General and

Hello there!
So a friend of mine owns this model (I believe its the international version), and i dont really know why there are a lot of broken links all over the place, but i managed to find the following.
LineageOS https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-unofficial-beta-10-lineageos-17-1-curtana.4096947/
Evolution X https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-10-x-official-evolution-x-radiant-curtana.4094495/
Recovery https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...p-recovery-3-4-1-based-on-twrp-3-4-1.4095301/
So i need the following information to be able to help in this situation:
1- How do they actually check if they have any specific model inside the 9 Pro? (like a codename etc)
2- How do they actually get to the new recovery?
3- Is it needed to flash any firmware prior to a ROM? or is it ok just updating miui as much as its allows?

Why do you want to use such an old version of Lineage OS or Evolution X and recovery too? After all, there are newer versions of these roms and recovery:
Roms:
- LineageOS
- Evolution X
Recovery:
- TWRP
- OrangeFox
1. Reboot device to fastboot mode, open cmd (Windows user) and type: fastboot getvar product
It should return device code name, example below:

alioth = Poco F3
If you have international version of Redmi Note 9 Pro then your codename should be: joyeuse. Most of the custom roms for your device are codenamed miatoll, which is a tree of several devices codenamed joyeuse, curtana, gram, and excalibur.
2. If you want the best and latest recovery, use OrangeFox. Some custom roms like LineageOS or PixelExperience come with their own recovery so use them.
3. If you flash a custom rom and want to update it, you don't need to do so, but if you want to change a custom rom to another custom rom, you need to flash miui firmware before that.

Also thanks a lot for this information, i think is enough for now, hope you have a great day.

Hey there, i'm the friend.
First of all, thanks for helping me with this thing. I did everything and it works pretty nice (I'm using Evolution X btw).
I unlocked the bootloader, installed Orangefox recovery, wiped cache, data, dalvik, internal storage, formatted data and flashed Evolution X. That's pretty much what I did.
The problem here is that for some reason it sometimes reboots randomly. Usually is at night but maybe it reboots while i'm using it.
If any info is necessary, ask for it, no problem. Thanks for everything!

Best rom for Bell network

Hey guys and girls.
What would be a recommended HTC 10 custom rom with 7.x OS available for Bell network. My phone is S-OFF and unlocked and running stock 1.90.666.4 with twrp recovery. No official OTA has come out yet and i'm getting tired of waiting. :crying:
I need it be stable (no beta or alpha) with ElementalX Kernel and audio mods if possible. Also the camera has to be working and stable since I use it the most.
Share you're opinions, much appreciated!

Have you tried custom roms before? If you install either Leedroid or ViperRom which are the most popular roms, you can choose Unlocked as your variant and that might work on Bell.
Also since you have s-off you can convert your phone to u.s unlocked which already has nougat OTA.
I was thinking about this rom
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/bad-boyz-unlocked-htc-10-rom-6-0-1-t3380528
However I need to install new twrp? if so how can it be done.

If you're still on Marshmallow firmware then I don't think you need a new twrp. However check that thread to see if you need an updated firmware to run that rom.
Either way the latest twrp works on both mm and nougat firmwares. You can flash it directly from the twrp you already have installed.

It was trial and error upgrading to Nougat
TWRP 3.0.2 does not stick to recovery partition after you flash in download mode when Nougat is installed. I found out the way around it was to flash 3.0.3 unofficial, Its the only way it sticks to recovery partition.
I am on Bell Canada.
-> Read this guide to unlock to US and upgrading to 1.80 OS (in guide).
-> Start OTA until it installs Nougat + updates
-> Reboot into Download
-> Run fastboot to flash twrp 3.0.3 (aka fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.3.img)
-> Reboot into bootloader + Recovery
-> Install SuperSU.zip
I'm on 7.0 (2.38.617.6) With Elemental X + Performance tweak v21 + AcoustiX Audio ZeroInfinity v31

GAPPS: DOWNLOAD GAPPS
First time installing crDroid to your ENTER-PHONE-NAME, or coming from another ROM: <--THESE MAY NEED UPDATING FOR YOUR PARTICULAR DEVICE; BE THOROUGH IN INSTRUCTIONS-->
** Make sure you're running a proper working Recovery (CWM or TWRP)
1) Copy crDroid zip, gapps zip <--& vendor img, if applicable--> to your device
2) Boot into Recovery
3) Wipe cache, system, & data (or just cache & system for a dirty flash).
4) Flash ROM
8) Flash gapps
9) Boot up
Note: - Don't wipe vendor
For root, AFTER you boot into the ROM, you can go back to recovery and install Magisk XX.x (whatever is most recent).
Upgrading from earlier version of crDroid:
The only difference between clean flash as above and upgrading is you just wipe system & cache, leaving data. Everything else is the same. ***Remember to always clean flash before reporting problems. Clean flashing is always the best method of ROM install.

Thanks for your efforts man.
Its kinda funny. X2 pro doesn't have any custom rom but you made it happen for x2. So thumb up
The rom is not booting in RMX1991. Its getting bootloop (Continuously rebooting).Any fix?
Many thanks for the ROM! It is first custom ROM for RMX1991 publicly available. Android 9, Security level is February 5, 2020, SELinux is disabled. crDroid version is 5.11.
To me, it looks pretty much not fully baked yet. I cannot connect to the hidden 5GHz Wi-Fi network, default settings like rounded corners, mobile network are not optimal.
My biggest grief - I did not succeed enrolling any finger for the fingerprint sensor. Looks like the sensor is over sensitive, always ends up with "sensor is dirty".
Initially I tried to install it over realmeUI beta (Android 10), it did not work. So I had to flash back A.14 version first and format data partition.
was waiting for it. please work on a performance boosted rom for gaming. ❤
Battery backup is so bad. And many more bugs. I am checking other thinks on this ROM. and thanks the developer for allowing us to test the beta version of crDroid.?

Anyone tried it on lte version?
I could try it.
Is it just an Odin flash with an unlocked bootloader?
I guess you can flash the boot.img with Odin but you can sideload the .zip booting in TWRP.
does it work on Stock 11 rom ?
I get error device not supported..fkm i use with los 18.1
edit. flashed boot.img. Device not starting anymore!
Reflash original boot.img.

Actually now that you ask, I think I did roll it back to 10. Since heimdall doesn't work and I don't have windows installed, is there a known way to update blobs with fastboot ? I don't recall what all is in them but vbmeta.img should flash with fastboot and on other devices I have had success flashing .bin files with it. May work on Samsung, although people act like I'm crazy mentioning fastboot and samsung together.
You should follow documentation in LineageOS thread.

Uh, yeah thanks. I was trying to avoid installing windows for the time being. Thought a kernel dev may have had some insight on alternative methods. Not sure but it seems most people are unwilling to consider the possibilities open to us now that we have another way of flashing select samsung devices.
This sounds interesting. I'm not familiar with installing new kernels.
I have the 2021-06-14 Lineage OS 18.1 Build with the latest firmware and NikGapps(Core) installed.
I tried flashing the Gnumdk-v4.zip in TWRP and rebooted then got vbmeta error while in download mode. So I flashed back to original boot.img.
I also don't know what "Android 11 blobs" are as I saw it being mentioned earlier.

why 11.04?
what is the reason for this?
and what are the consequences if I install on 11.21?
It probably WILL boot on V11.0.21.0. I had this version on my phone and was trying to run Havoc OS, then Arrow 12, and a few others from this forum. Only crDroid booted.
Then I found this guide where it is stated that you should have 10.0.18.0 for customs roms and after downgrading to this version all tested custom ROMs are booting correctly.
@LinkBoi is another security patch update / general update planned?

Bootloop with standard ROM and working with custom

Hi there,
today I installed PixelExperience then ProjectElixir on my MI 10T Pro with no issues.
I basically just had to try it then I wanted to get back to the default OS but I'm unable to do it.
I tried to use Xiaomi Mi Tool v2 too and everything seems working correctly but when the system tries to boot it is stuck, bootlooping.
Then I tried again to flash TWRP 3.4.0.1 and flash a custom ROM (i.e. Pixel Experience) and it works.
Seems I'm having the problem only while flashing the factory OS; how is that possible? How can I dig deeper into the issue?
Thanks

You can flash stock rom using the official MiFlash tool using the fastboot rom or using twrp recovery rom but you'll need to FORMAT DATA due to different encryption.
