I've recently been given a tablet and I'm looking for ways to improve its performance.
It's slow, freezes a lot and it's too outdated for most apps, including Galaxy Store. Google Play even crashes and closes itself regularly when I attempt app installations.
I'm a complete novice.
There are a few files around the forum from some time ago, are there any that are still good? Is there a list of downloads that I need, please?
Really appreciate any advice!

Hello guys,
I am currently using a Kindle Fire 7" 1st gen (rooted about 1 year ago and flashed cyano7), last week i decided to upgrade and I tried some roms but everyone of these present some little problems i didn't solve (rotation problem, error with keyboard process, usb mount storage problem..) with use of forum.
Finally I found ROM hellfire 10.2 jelly 2.4 (built Tue, Aug 27 and kernel 3.0.72+). Everything ok, no problems...but the kindle now is going very very slow: a long time to open app, and it is not so reactive as before. I don't play with it, I use kindle for gmail, web nav, twit, read books using amazon app and comics using ACV.. I think these apps are not so expensive in terms of hardware resources. Moreover, in order to increase the battery life I travel with wifi off and turn it on just to check notifications.
Is it normal? Does it depend on the hardware that it is not very performant using a rom so recently? Or can I set or check some parameters to increase performance?
Alternative could be flash an older rom or a lighter (but new) rom to increase reactivity and speed?
Thank you so much for any suggest!
Members of XDA gods are good,
I am a T321 users, I have spent a long time T321 tablet system when I was too old when I see the same configuration of the machine on the XDA [T320] can use the latest CyanogenMod 13 3G T321 and not related to the ROM
I hope to have the big guy can help T321 users with the latest CyanogenMod on 13, because the system still on Android official 4.4[KitKat], there are many software cannot be run, if someone will be very happy to launch
Whether or not this request, I am very grateful to you
I have an Australian version (XSA) of the Note 10.1 sm-p600 which was only ever upgraded to 4.4.2 (latest official release).
I find the performance sluggish when playing games (eg Clash Royale) and want to see if a new ROM will improve the speed but want minimal fuss. I would like to know people's suggestions of which ROM to use that will give me a faster but still stable experience.
Is the official 5.1.1 any good? Do I need to go custom? I want to avoid having to do complicated installs as well if possible.
I mostly play games and watch YouTube on it and maybe some sports apps to get scores. Nothing that really requires root (and some of the sports apps don't like root).
Thanks in advance.
Just checked my build and it looks like it is already on 5.1.1 - I must have updated it last year and forgotten.
Still not happy with the load times of Clash Royale, any other suggestions about making the tablet run faster? It seems to still have a decent processor and RAM despite being a few years old.
Well, you're running 5.1.1 right? Probably the only thing left is to go to Development section and install Prime Kernel V6, it's the last version for lollipop touchwiz. That one has a couple of tweaks to improve the standard performance offered by stock/factory software. Make sure to backup everything, and then flash the zip. Updating kernel has no need to wipe or reformat anything so no data is lost, but do it just in case.
To get more juice out, you'd have to install custom ROMs, like LiquidDeath from the Original Development section, that has a couple of new stuff like the updated GPU driver ported from marshmallow touchwiz apparently, and from my subjective view, performance is better along with increased battery life.
I don't do much gaming, but on stock 5.1.1 with stock kernel I usually get around 7 hours screen on time browsing the web, but with LD I can go around 10 to 11 hours easy with the same usage.
Thanks. I'll check out the kernel first.
Would you suggest LiquidDeath or LineageOS?
Sorry for the late reply, lol. I assume you've been running touchwizz/stock Samsung lollipop this while, but using that custom kernel I've mentioned? How was the experience? If that works fine with you, I believe there's no need for custom ROMs.
I test and run random ROMs many times, liking to flash stuff and all. If you want to try out the waters, the most rock-solid, no-issues release so far is probably the last release of LiquidDeath, mostly because it has less crud, and therefore fewer potential to go wrong. Lineage is good too, but I prefer keeping it simple.
Hi,
in the past I was upgraded to stock 5.1 and had big battery issues due to this. Downgrading to CM11 solved this.
Very happy.
Still, now I need some apps (Gear360 open app, cardboard, Google wirk) only available for Android 5.1 or better.
So my question, is if there is a fully functional (=camera, gyro, battery, sound, LTE, Wifi....) virus free stock above CM11 without bloatware from Sony or others around, which I can install without running into the battery issue again.
Minimum Google Play Store functionality is a must though.
I am a user, so appreciate not to technical answers.
The phone is rooted and has TWRP installed.
Thanks so much!!

I think your best bet is either stock 5.1 or dstriker, and just remove whatever bloatware you don't want. Fast battery drain is the fault of Gplay and Gservices most of the time, so if you delete the Gapps you don't want, and use a battery manager/network manager for the rest, battery life should be very good. The latest Cm12 builds by @derf elot and others are very good, (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=Amami), but I can't say anything about battery, since I haven't tested enough. Personally I use Jaguar most of the time, which is excellent, (https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...om-jaguar-amami-lp5-1-1-r37-hardened-t3396713).
MX rom v9.0 .
Hey guys thanks for the help. Is the Mx based on 5.1?Do you have a link?

How would you compare the LOS with this ROM? https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...velopment/rom-dstrikerz1-kai-rom-4-5-t2980761

Really? I ran this for 6 months, the phone seemed FAT respect to LOS, BTW you can install sony camera and other features, but the only you want, not fat sony apps and useless features like "glow mode" that doesn't work lol
AND THE SECURITY PATCHES UPDATED MONTHLY, NOT IN 2016.
Hi, need to revive this.
At the time I stayed with Cyanogen 11-20160510-unofficial-amami after all.Its Android 4.4.4. Kernel Version 3.4.0cyanogenmod-ga55e591 [email protected] #1 Tue May 10 22:28:47 CEST 2016 cm_amami-userdebug 4.4.4 KTU84Q c8b9323008 test-keys.
Batttery works great, camera not so good, all other very stable and good. Still I cannot install some more recent apps.
This actually got rid of sudden death for me!
As some time has passed since I posted the original question, I thought it might be worth reasking.
Are there any very stable newer than 4.4.4 Roms without battery issues and a reasonable good camera around by now?
Network connections and SD card have to work reliably.I use the phone every day.
I prefer a very clean ROM without bloatware from Sony or Google.
Please be so kind to point me directly to the latest download. All the tech jargon here is very confusing to me.
Please answer without tech jargon I am a pure user and barely manage to flash!
Thanks again,
Franny
Bone stock 2013 nexus 7 flo. Last update was 6.0.1 in 2016.
Just repaired usb jack, and replaced battery. Tablet now works again. Replacement battery has about 85% cspacity of stock, but its very useable.
I have read all I could digest about ROMs, etc. Seems like lineage 14.1 is the best.
What i use this tablet for, is mostly just web browsing and Netflix. Maybe amazon and ebay purchases as well.
Ive read that Netflix won't work automatically if I install a new ROM, because they have blocked it . I've read there are two ways to get around that.... One is a script that made it work again, and the other is to use a very old version of netflix that's been modified to work.
1. Long-term, over a year or two or three does this Netflix issue pose any problems ? How much pita is it ongoing?
2. Does this Netflix issue go away if you revert back to stock?
3. for my uses, is it worth upgrading the ROM at all or just keep everything stock. Stock works, except it's a little slow sometimes. Does that get better or worse with lineage 14.1?
In spite of the security drawbacks, i lean towards just leaving it alone because it works. Thats more important than fancy additional features in Android. It's going to quit working soon then that would be a good reason to change the ROM. I have an old phone that the version of Chrome won't update in it and gives some problems.
My 2 cents, as a noob.
I would recommend the jump to 14.1 over stock. If nothing else you get streamlined right from the starting line with little bloat. I am still using 14.1, and very happy with it, but then I am doing nothing very demanding, just reading books, email, etc..
I used Wug's Nexus Root Kit when I initially rooted and installed 14.1. It worked like a dream for me (who was terrified of accidentally bricking my Nexus 7).
Here is the link to Lineage 14.1 that remains stock with continuing weekly security updates.:

Best of Luck, Tam
Installing old netflix version can't happen. Doesn't do downloads. I use this to watch while travelling.....that's a must.
Do the other workarounds work? What about 17.1? Any bugs like this in it? I didn't see any mentioned.
