I was able to upgrade my fold 2 to fold 3 in September and have been regularly using the fold 3 as my personal device.
However recently I have noticed the fold 3 stuttering and having frame drops while doing simple tasks like changing apps or opening and closing apps like YouTube or gallery.
The small stutters became more apparent after using the s22 ultra for a few days alongside it. I have not faced this issue with the fold 2.
Anyone else facing such an issue and advice on how to fix it?
I have done all the cleanup optimization etc and even checked the battery for any unusual drain etc. So far I'm not sure what's causing it to have these micro hangups.
F926B model ui4.0 latest February update installed
Clear system cache.
Disable all power management.
Try is safe mode if it persists to rule out a 3rd party app.
I had a similar issue recently. I tried using the phone for a while in safe mode, but the same results, micro-stutters and sometimes complete freeze and black screen, which led me to reboot the phone. So I had to factory reset it and start from zero. Everything is smooth so far, but tbh, I think I went too far, first you should try what @blackhawk suggests.

Poorly written 3rd party apps can cause a lot of trouble, even boot loops. Any sign of system instability should be taken very seriously as it's the only warning you may get. Lol, been there, done that. 2 back to back boot loops until I recognized the troublemaker
If any major OTA firmware upgrades have been done it's best practice to do a factory reset. Otherwise it's best to find the root cause to prevent it from happening again.
Malware is always a possibility when abnormal behavior persists and can't be identified. Usually it's installed or downloaded by the user. If malware is known to be present and can't be completely eliminated in an hour or two, factory reset.
One of the best way to ID problems is to spot them as soon as they start and to be able to associated them with something you installed, changed or downloaded. Otherwise they tend to fade into the blur.

I have not done system cache clearing since my note 4 and frankly I had completely forgotten about it.
So far it seems to have fixed the issue.
Thanks
Just FYI for everyone you need to connect the fold 3 with a USB C to a Mac or PC before powering on (Power button and volume up button) for it to open in recovery mode, doesn't seem to work (atleast for me) otherwise.

Yay! You're welcome.
It will solve many strange glitches. Completely safe so it's worth a shot. Otherwise I do it about once a month as part of routine maintenance.
Hey whats up guys ok
So I had very wierd situation where I have slow scrolling micro sttuters that are driving me insane throughout the entire almost all apps ecept the system settings on the cover screen and main screen
I uplaoded a video
Whats I did find is that it doesnt have this problem at with the Spen how can this be seriously and my GF has a S22 Ultra and of course she doesnt have this problem
I have also tested the Fold 4 in store and doesnt have this problem either.
I have also done what Blackhawk suggested still same bull**** problem
Please let me know as there has to be some type of fix again since it doesnt do it with the Spen
Thanks Here is the video I uploaded to Reddit

The spen thing is odd.
Try in safe mode to rule out a 3rd party app as the cause. Is global power management disabled?
Try turning off all animations in Developer options or Visibility enhancements.

Worked just fine for me without plugging the phone in when I tried clearing the cache recently (didn't fix the problem I was having). You have to hold and then release the two buttons at the same time when you reach the logo screen. You can Google for instructions.

It happens in safe mode too, right?
Is it running warm at near idle ie excess battery consumption?
Was it always like this or did it recently start?
Try temporarily turning off Developer options.
Try changing refresh rate settings.

Yes It does
No running normal and no strange battery drain for anything
The problem was that before Andriod 13 I was having sttutering through out the entire UI very bad
Finally Andriod 13 fixed all of that but I had never noticed micro sttuters as I had insane sttutering everywhere
How would Dev options have anything to do
Becuse the minute I Use the Spen it never does it
Do you have Fold 3 can are seeing any of these issues
I'm running 2 N10+'s; both still on the factory loaded firmware, 9/10. Gorgeous, fast, reliable work horses. No way I'm upgrading firmware or hardware any time soon. Both Samsung and Google Android dead ended out over 3 years ago as far as I'm concerned.
You sure the micro stutters aren't it dropping the refresh rate down? Try different fixed rates.
Cycling Developer options sometimes resolves issues.
Be better to find the root cause rather than factory reset as it may reoccur. However if a factory reset doesn't solve it... it's either a default setting issue, firmware or hardware.

I see I though you had a F3
Well Iam not doing a factory reset that never fixes anything and makes you start from scratch which I cant do now
I try and turn off Dev options
Yes I ran the refresh rate and says 120 solid during the micro sttuters which is bull****
Again what makee no sense is that it wont do it with the Spen
You did clear the system cache from the recovery menu, right?
Try a lower refresh rate. Again disable all animations.
It will make sense once you find the cause. Be glad it's giving you a clue.
If it's a fault in the firmware or hardware you want to find out sooner than latter. Justification for doing a factory reset.

The factory screen protector? If so replace it as those displays are expensive. If the inner protector cracks it will eventually destroy the display if not replaced. I'm out of ideas, sorry.

So, I use my op5t as my primary device.
I test my applications on it(Android developer), i listen to songs and i do all the normal things on my phone, Nothing abnormal like intensive gaming/ using it while charging or anything.
From last 1/1.5 weeks my phone is over heating it goes above 41C(CPU-Z readings) while doing normal things like listening to songs on wynk(It runs in the background), using whatsapp and instagram only. I don't use snapchat that often or any camera app (barely 15 minutes in 24 hours);
So i thought its getting warm in bangalore, It maybe because of it.
But 41C isn't normal for such a less use and that too not even in the direct sun.
And from last 3 days as i test/debug my applications on my device, The developer option should be enabled, and it was enabled from day 1 i got my phone.
Now while testing apps, My developer options suddenly gets disabled by itself(No module in app is playing with the system settings at any point), and now this is happening like 2-3 times a day in the time span of 5 hours of testing applications.
I Always make sure after debugging my applications that i restart my phone to free ram/ uninstall the app i was testing, clear the cache, stop background applications, stop applications that are using mobile data in the background.
Any suggestions on the overheating and developer options being disabled by itself?
I've posted the problem about the developer options on oneplus community but i would like to get more advices on if its a bug or just my usage is more than i actually think it is.
Thank you~ :good:
Perhaps a factory reset!/flash stock firmware, I always say this but if problems persist after this then you really have a problem

Agreed but it could solve the problem, it could not, you don't know the cause, going back to out the box stock is a good start
get to stock|factory reset
had an issues with overheating in test by antutu(in net mentioned that there is no no overheating problems)
after a reset 33celcius
try it out
I'm not at all a fan of "factory reset".
It's much better to do a full wipe (fastboot format userdata).
And then do a stock ROM install (or whatever ROM you want).
If you've experienced corruption somewhere in the system files, then a factory reset may not fix that.

I fixed it. In my Moto x style I fixed this problem by letting the phone to at the highest it can and it fixes it self.
For my Op5t it never went to 45. It went to 45 and now even if I charge it or do the same tasks when I used to do when it got really hot, it's barely 33 now.?*?*?*

So I had a Moto x style and it went hot, really hot. And I was fed up because of it as I thought it's a malfunction in the phone and something's wrong. So I used to be scared that if went to hot it will catch fire or smthng. So I just one day let it go as warm as it can and it went to 45-46 and came back to 35 again and after that it's just normal temperature.
Same with my OnePlus5t. I listen to songs+charge it. So it goes really hot as it shouldn't because I'm not doing any big tasks. So one day I just left it on charging with music on. It went to 42 and it came back to 35. Now while listening to songs and charging my op barely goes to 35.
I don't know if it's a good.fix or.not but it always works for me. I've tied this on my friends Moto x play too just 1 day ago and it worked like magic
Hi all
I have been using this phone for a month, and I have experienced a lot of different small issues, I hope someone may have solution to them.
Phone:
Mi A2 Lite, rooted (Magisk) Android one pie, January update. Has a screen protector.
Apps:
Here are some apps that I think may cause the issue that I mention below, these apps are Nova and datally. Really can't think of a third one, I don't use any cleaning app or battery performance app.
Issue:
1. Typing experience is horrible. Using stock google input, the keyboard is not very sensitive and accurate. The letter just can't be recognized even though I am sure I have pressed the key and pressed the right key. So my typing is really slow, the key doesn't display immediately (it does seem to have a delay), and for some reason I always type wrong and missing some letters, so gotta use backspace a lot.
2. It always wakes up randomly in my pocket, so I may take the phone out with torch on and airplane mode on without my awareness.
3. When I am on a call, I can accidentally press some random on screen keys.
4. The background apps AWALYS get killed, even though I have turned the battery optimization off globally, and the individual apps that I never want to be killed.
5. Messaging service apps have huge delay when delivering the notification. It may only show when I open the app. Used PNF app but couldn't fix the problem.
Does anyone have the same issue and know the fix?
I hope it is only the software problem (Pie system) and maybe I can fix it by flashing a better rom, but I don't seem to find a stable official custom ROM for Mi A2 Lite (even lineage OS is unofficial)
Many thanks

You have battery optimization off? any battery improvement app? I think all these is because the 'intelligence' in Android is playing up, it doesn't understand exactly how we use the app. However, even have it turned off, the problem exists....

After updating to 10, a few times a day my phone becomes completely unresponsive. Since the screen is off, I'm not even sure if the phone is powering off. I've flashed the factory image to see if starting clean would fix it, but that didn't work. Anybody else experiencing this?

No, but you may be installing an app that is causing it. Try replicating the issue in safe mode. Ruling that out, if you have done a clean install using the full image (not ota) and allowed it to wipe your data there is not much more to do before contacting Google. A clean install restores your phone to its "out of the box" state. If the problem persists, it is likely hardware related. You can try a factory reset from the stock recovery... that is the first thing they will insist you do before processing an RMA.

I didn't have the issue on Pie and haven't installed any additional apps. It mainly happens after I haven't used the device for a while. It feels like it won't wake up so I have to hold the power button to force a reboot.

Yes.
I was just peaking to a buddy with a 2xl and he is having the same issue since 10.
I have an issue where after about two day of it being on it will start to stutter, and then after a couple hours it reboots itself. It's done it since 10 was released. Never had an issue on 9. Now I proactively reboot it once I notice the stuttering. Kind of sucks since 9 was super stable for me. No new apps, and no settings were changed. Just updated to 10, and it started. Kind of like memory is leaking causing it to stutter/freeze, but the last patch they said they fixed the leak. Guess not.

I just had a random reboot while taking my dog for a walk. Was only listening to SiriusXM. Think I'm going back to Pie until Google gets the kinks ironed out on 10.
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/14074635?hl=en
Booted into safe mode last night and had to force a reboot this morning to get the screen to respond. This is definitely an issue with 10 and not an app. I'm going back to Pie since having my phone turn off every night is unacceptable, especially since my phone is my alarm clock.
I took the OTA before setting up my new P3XL on A10 and don't have any issues. You might try wiping data then restore apps without data.

I flashed the A10 Oct factory image and wiped data. Still have the issue. The only thing that fixes it is going back to Pie.
So this happened to me twice now since being on 10. My screen would go black while using the phone, and then the phone would be unresponsive, so I would need to force a reboot, but after the Google splash screen it goes into recovery, and this message shows "Could not load Android OS. You can try again, or factory reset.". I did "Try again" both times, and it booted fine. Really irks me since I can't afford to do a factory reset since I use a lot of apps that have special info in them (Like Google Auth App that has many devices I need, and resetting I would have to redo every device). I hope Google can fix these issues with the next update.
I think my issue is due to the sensor bug that was introduced in 10. I have disabled the sensors on my phone and it hasn't froze since!! Hopefully Google fixes on the Nov update.
I'm having the issue that after my screen turns off, after a certain amount of time, I cannot get it to turn back on. The phone is still on, but is unresponsive to my input. I have to hard reset.
I have tried reflashing, and tried disabling sensors. I did not have an issue with the 10 September updated, but since updating to the November update, I had the issue non-stop all day.
Platform-Tools fully updated, not using gesture navigation, but the 2-button.
@MeetFace, yes! Same here since the November update. Something isn't right.
I'm still dealing with the black screen issue. Nov update didn't fix it.

Update, I read in a thread somewhere that disabling darkmode fixed it for one person (rando I know).
I created a tasker script that disables darkmode once the screen shuts off, and enables it when it turns back on. So far, no BSOD this morning (4 hrs)
FWIW

Can you share the tasker script? I love darkmode, but have never used tasker.

Thanks for this! Phone hasn't gotten a frozen black screen since I loaded the script!
hello everyone,
I just bought z fold 3 a few days ago,
after hours of working with I found that sometimes the touch screen(inner display) doesn't respond,
for example, some words don't type when I am typing quickly with the keyboard (just sometimes)
factory data reset didn't help.
has anyone run into the same problem? may be resolved with future updates?
Is it only happening to apps connected to the internet ie is it a connection issue?
The internet's been goofed up in some areas the last few days. Try toggling the airplane mode off/on.
Keep power management disabled for now.
Does it happen in safe mode?
Find the factory test settings for the touch display, test (and calibrate if needed/possible).
If you can't resolve it, return it. Otherwise eyeball every square inch of it like a hawk...
I tested the touchscreen with *#0*# and everything is fine.
just sometimes this problem occurs and I think this may be software problems...
have you z fold 3?

No. Basic troubleshooting.
Samsung will likely release firmware updates to correct this if enough devices are effected. It may be a 3rd party app causing this... try in safe mode. Disable animations for now and see what its got.
I stopped at the N10+/Android 10 and will likely stay in this holding pattern for at least 2 years.
I have two now and they run close to flawlessly.
Both Samsung and Android are having major issues, plus I require a SD card slot. Even issues on the N20U, which helped nix it from my list.
It may be a good year for Fold fans but otherwise both Android and Samsung have dropped the ball and are in a flat spin... in my opinion.
my problem is just like what you see in this youtube video in Time 12:15 and 12:49 . I must double try some times to click some things. this is very annoying on the keyboard and when you are typing quickly.

If stateside you can go to a Best Buy that has a Samsung Experience store. They can do advanced testing on it... allegedly.
I would get it resolved soon or return it for a complete refund.
That ain't pudding and that ain't right... time to have a sitdown with that candyman

Have you tried turning on the touch sensitivity feature under the display settings?

Happen in all apps?

Even reset factory didn't help
I tested the touch screen with "touch screen test" Application and uploaded a video on youtube, you can see here.
It looks fine to me... do you mean latency time?
What are power settings at? Try bumping it up to maximum performance.
Check ram usage.
Is there anyone here with z fold 3 and the same problem?!!!
I only face this problem when I touch the edge of the display with my palm.

I tried to replicate the issue. I downloaded the same app on my Fold 3. I tried for few minutes.
On my device every click is registered. No missing dots.
I have the exact same issue. I addressed it by increasing the screen sensitivity.
Hey, I just noticed it today as well. When I try to type text faster, sometimes I need to double click on letters. I think this problem came with the latest update, because I havent had that problem before. It is frustrating.
I tried to turn on sensitivity option in settings and I will reply here after day or two testing.
seems to be a bit better with that option turned on

The sensitivity option didn't help me.
S21fe updated to UI5.
Couple of issues.... Fingerprint reader sometimes doesn't work when phone hasn't been used for some time. When it happens I need to double tap the screen to wake it up and then scan my fingerprint again.
Also "back" gesture (where I swipe up from the right bottom of the screen) sometimes instead of going back brings up the list of background apps.
Both issues very annoying.
Anyone else experienced anything similar?
Try clearing the system cache. Double check all settings. If that flaws things get more complicated...
A factory reset may be needed, but hard to say if it will resolve the issues. Someone will need to try the latter if the former doesn't work. A global reset of settings is a less drastic option but it may not be enough and still take a lot of time.
This is one reason why I spurn upgrades on a platform that's fulfilling its mission. Lol, I'm still using UI 1.5, no glaring issues.
Unfortunately with latter versions an upgrade may resolve flaws in earlier post >1.5 variants. Tough choice once you are on Android 11 as there's no roll back on stock Samsung's for that. I wasn't locked into using 11 on my N10+'s and never will load it. 12 is even worse.
Roll back is an option for you if bootloader wasn't upgraded too. Eventually Samsung will fix it if it's a firmware/software glitch but don't hold your breath for that

That may not be enough if going from 11 to 12, etc.
Rule #1 - if the OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission let it be! You have little to gain and a lot to lose. Although there was a big security hole in 12, not sure if it was patched already or if the patch is in what you just install. Oddly that hole isn't in 9-11.
Gookill is a mess...
I have the same problem with fingerprint unlocking. It simply doesn't work (if I press the side button, it works). Some hours ago I wiped the system cache and after that, I didn't notice the described problem. I will see in the next few hours.
Now I changed "Fingerprints -> Show icon when screen is off" to "Tap to show" instead of "On always on display" which was the default after the upgrade to Android 13.
UPDATE: The phone still has the same problem. Sometimes it simply doesn't allow it to unlock with a fingerprint. The screen is locked as hell. Only the side button unlocks it.
If you go to Lock screen>Always On Display>Show always, does that solve your problem? Mine was set to "show for new notifications" only and the fingerprint icon would disapperar after locking it.
Mine was set to "Show for new notifications". As you suggested, I changed it to "Show always" and we will see, how it works. In my opinion, it is better to show display only when something happens. But something changed and problems occurred.
Report: it didn't help. I have found out that the issue appears if the phone is locked for a while and then a notification comes. This is the reason why this problem exists also while using Android Auto. It creates a notification when it connects ... and then the phone can be unlocked with a fingerprint until the side button is pressed. I'm sure this is a bug that didn't exist before the upgrade to Android 13.
no such issues here with the eu version. definitely an upgrade in every way.
After 3 days with Android 13 on snapdragon variant, only two minor issues found here : slow charging (2h20 from 0 to 100, less than 2h before) and an "unauthorized action due to modified device" screen when rebooting, disappearing by touching "OK" button. Don't know what is unauthorized but... well. I was rooted before, now stock unrooted and relocked bootloader. It doesn't seems to lock something, everything I use is working.
I have the same fingerprint issues after updating to UI5 (unlocking from turned off screen). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It worked perfectly before I updated, didn't change any settings. Very annoying, hopefully it will be fixed in a future update.

The recent update with the December security patch seens to have resolved this issue for me.
Edit: scratch that, still not fixed...
Edit2: turning off lock scrern mods in Galaxy MaxHz seems to help.

This. Some have said Android 12 needs to be plugged into the PC to access the boot menu, don't know as I run Pie and Q.

The link I provided and the one you did refer to the same thing. Only difference is my link also provides a way to do it via ADB. In any event, thanks for your response.
