[Q] Unable to make Voice Calls

Hi,
I'm facing a strange issue with my 9 month old Redmi 1S since last 2 days. Whenever I dial a number the call immediately disconnects and all I see is "Call Ended Not Connected".
I'm using 2 Sims, Airtel in slot 1 & Bsnl CellOne in slot 2. First I thought that maybe its a Network Issue but when I tried both the sims in a different handset, I was able to make calls. I tried an Aircel sim in 1S as well but same problem.
And yes I'm able to receive calls, 3G is working fine but can't make Voice Calls. The OS version was JH45 and I didn't update as I was waiting for Kitkat/Lollipop ROM. But last night I updated my phone to latest JH 56.0 assuming that it will solve the issue but the problem still persists.
Also, someone advised me to clear system cache from recovery which I did but still its the same.
Hoping to find some solution from the members here.
Regards.
So, nobody is gonna help me here?
I am able to make calls only if I prefix number with *31#
Why?

6.20.502.5 ATT Firmware

Hi All,
Has anyone extracted the the firmware from the RUU? I did a quick search and just saw one with the HBOOT. Also has anyone installed the HTC RUU? Is it any good?
Thanks in advance.

Of course wnc and ckpv5 would be involved!
Guess I should have looked a little harder than searching by the numbers!
Many thanks!

If anyone is looking for an already modified version of the 6.20.502.5 firmware. I removed the boot.img and the recovery.img file and replaced the hboot file with one that has no red text. This firmware works fine on the AT&T and Developer's Edition models.
Download here.
Hey everyone in this post,
Please check to make sure that you are receiving voice calls. I just discovered that I can make outgoing calls just fine however ALL incoming calls are going directly to voicemail. I'm going to do a little more research but it looks as though I'll need to revert to an earlier firmware. I'm guessing this has something to do with HD Voice.
A couple more things of note: I'm on the latest version of ARHD which is 53.1 (MM); texts work fine both ways; data is fine; voicemail functions fine. Just to give a little background.

I'm having the same problem. I fiddled with the APN settings and it seemed (I'll try again) to fix that issue. Meaning I manually entered the APN settings and I was able to receive calls. A bit ridiculous.
Edit: It's not the APN Settings that helped. It's actually switching the preferred network from LTE to 3G or maybe even 2G. Haven't checked it on 2G.

I finally got mine working but I have no idea what the magical combination ended up being. I did downgrade to a previous 6.12 firmware but that alone didn't do the trick. I also manually added a new APN in addition to many other things one by one. I was actually on an outgoing call and my line beeped because I had a call waiting! I was so shocked (and pleased) that I hung on the person I was speaking with and answered the call. From then on it has worked fine. Having said that I'm going to sit tight with the phone the way it is until someone much smarter than me lays out a solid plan.
I'm glad you got beyond your problem as well :good:

Are you still able to receive phone calls while on 4G? Any further issues? I asked because ever since upgrading to LP firmware I no longer can receive incoming phone calls while on 4G but I can make calls. I have noticed that while on a call on 4G I can receive calls which is strange. So I have to stay on 3G to receive all incoming calls. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks

Your situation does sound similar to mine. Whatever combination of zany things that happened for me as forced my network into HSPA+ whereas it used to read LTE. I'm not referring to the icon in the status bar (that still reads 4G). If I go into Settings>About>Network>Cellular network type. That's where I see HSPA+, HSPA or HSPAP depending on where I am. My speeds are WAY slower but it's still functional, yet there's something obviously still broken. Since I can receive calls now I've decided to just "live with it" until I come across a proper solution that I know will work. If that day should ever come though, I'll be sure to post back here.
Update:
I am back to my "Cellular network type" displaying "LTE" and my download speeds also confirm this. Below are the additional steps I took to get to this point:
1. In the phone dialer enter *#*#4636#*#* (takes you to a "Phone info" screen)
2. Scroll down to "Set preferred network type" (take note of its current selection in case you need to go back)
3. Using the dropdown, select GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
That's it. After a few seconds my data icon refreshed and I knew I was good to go. For good measure I went back to Settings>About>Network to verify my Cellular network type. Good luck.

AT&T's deployment of Voice over LTE (which they've branded "HD Voice") does not play well with international-based custom ROMs (basically, most any ROM that is not ATT based). Issues with voice calls is the common symptom.
Best workaround is to call AT&T and ask them to turn off HD Voice for your account (may need to ask for 2nd Tier tech support before you get someone who knows what you are talking about). Yes, you can turn off LTE, but that is obviously not a great option.
Other fixes (APN, firmware) are likely placebo effect at best. Went down a similar path trying to troubleshoot this problem for folks a year ago, before coming to the conclusion (Post #9): http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/help/incoming-calls-lte-mode-m8-att-arhd-34-0-t3026710

At&t Note 5 Emergency Calls Only after flashing to Marshmallow

Hi guys can you please help me with this?
I bought my note 5 off craigslist and it was currently on G920AUCU1AOJ1
This security notice wouldn't stop notifying me ect common error I guess when they first came out. Solved by getting app disabler.
I really wanted to get the marshmallow update, I tried OTA says it was fully updated.
I then flashed it too N920AUCU2APB2 Then I noticed it was saying emergency calls only when I tried to call someone. I just continued to flashing to marshmallow.
Now I can't even find a downgrade firmware back to my original state to get the phone to even work again! everything else works but when I looked in to about my phone
SIM card status it says Network Unknown, signal strength -113 dBm 0 asu. Mobile network UMTS, Service state out of service, Roaming Not roaming, mobile network state Disconnected.
I believe the guy I bought it from knew all this and that's why he took it back to a stock firmware.
Can someone please help me out with this? I can't even find the stockware to take my phone back! Either I would and the links broken or its for a different carrier.

At&t on a3000 issue

I've been having issues with calling, such as when I go to call someone, sometimes they can't hear me, but I can hear them, and other times, I can't hear them but they can hear me. I notice I switch from lte or lte+ to h or h+, mostly h+. Could that be the problem? Could it be not selecting the right wcdma or umts band? Im at a loss to solve this problem. I've tried changing and modifying apns and preferred bands, in the hidden menu and in the sim card menu. I've also tried both stock and custom roms. Anyone else have this issue? I'm currently using rr remix nougat rom.
EDIT: I found out something interesting. I tried throwing my phone in 3g and making a call and it worked with no problem, surprisingly it didn't freeze the phone dialer. Will do more tests.
EDIT 2: OK, after attempt after attempt, I completely wiped the phone, like formatted EVERYTHING, multiple times/changed file systems back and fourth, then adb side loaded oxygen os with stock recovery. And after the phone booted, I noticed a sound issue, but I flashed a stock audio zip. Then.... Walla no issues, radio is more smooth, calls now work when received or made, the switch from lte or lte+ to h or h+ is now smooth asf. I will post again if to have problems.
i experience the same thing, it changing to h+ is normal b/c att does not have LTE over voice, so it will automatically goto h+ when making a call. It could be a number of things, it could be ur coverage location or it could just be a bug in the phone or just att, I work at att so i know its not perfect, i always seemed to have more issues with custom roms though
I haven't noticed it being better or worse on stock or custom roms, thanks for your imput though.
Something to try would be to get a prepaid sim from another carrier and drop it into sim 2. Do some test calls from the alt carrier and see if the same problem exists. If it does then it's possibly a hardware issue. If the issue seems to to clear up on the alt carrier then it's possibly AT&T.
I've heard others say its at&t, and even the store people said its a known issue with the one plus 3 and other unlocked phones
