Just received this phone from ATT to retire my old S5 which I have been using FoxFi for hotspot since forever. Do I understand correct that you can just flash the factory samsung firmware to enable the hotspot feature? And this will still be undetectable as hotspot usage? If so and someone could please direct me to the proper instructions for doing this that would be much appreciated!

I have been searching around for answers to my question for a few hours and have come up with nothing.
I originally flashed an older rom onto my phone in order to unlock it, then it did the OTA update to 4.3, following which I used CF auto root to successfully root it. Now this is what I have:
AT&T Galaxy S3
Android version 4.3
Baseband version I747UCUEMJB
Build Number JSS15J.I747UCUEMJB
SE Android Status Enforcing SEPF_SMSUNG-SGH-I747_4.3_0024
When I try to enable wifi tethering, either natively or through Portable Wifi Hotspot or other apps then I get the message that "Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM", neither of which is true. I have been able to get FoxFi/PDANet to work for bluetooth tethering, but not WiFi which I need for some of the devices I have with me.
I have seen that perhaps there are some modem/bootloader files that can be flashed over, but those seem to be specific to the leaked version of 4.3 , and I dont know if they would work for the UCUEMJB.
Is there any way I can do a simple mod to enable the wifi teathering? Would prefer to avoid flashing another rom bc Im traveling through Latin America and access to decent internet is a big issue (hence the need to tether).
Thanks!
hey fellas. I have rooted (towelroot) long ago and have been stuck on 4.4.2 at this point I am knox 0x0 and id like to stay that way (used for work) however my wifi calling completely stopped working about the same time lollipop came out. I think t Mobile did this intentionally and I wish I could proove it, but none the less.... im going on a trip to a very rural area and I must get my wifi calling working. I think the best way is to update. I have mobile odin pro and have xposed cut off. but im lost in what to download and the steps to do it. (info over load on this site) can anyone give me a quick hand? thanks!

I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...icial-lollipop-n900tuvufob5-t-mobile-t3046295
It worked for me and Wifi calling works too.
I didnt think that was the latest update?
and I have no idea which firmware to use.
OK I unrooted and wiped the phone . I still cannot update. It fails at 26%. I don't know what else to do. I don't want to use Odin or modified roms. Just want the factory software on my phone. ... what now
Using Odin on the computer will not trip Knox. Flashing the lollipop tar file is the easiest and safest way to update to the newest software. Do you have access to a computer?
Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've posted in the forums anyways.I recently fully updated to FB06 via odin im rooted and have remained stock (rom/kern) tunning twrp for recovery.
But since updating I have encountered a problem, the app I used to tether WiFi Tether Router has stopped "working" not the app itself but I got a message from t-mobile stating X amount of mobile hostpot data has been used, This never use to be a issue before updating ....
*> So is there a trick to tethering with lollipop FB06 ? Help with this would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
Noone on lollipop FB06 has encountered issues with tethering ?
You need to create a new APN and change the apn protocol to IPv4

That's how my apn is currently/always setup...? If I connect to my ps3 with a ipv6 while using the app I use to tether I mentioned above, it periodically boots me off, The recommended settings are ipv4.
I think tmobile has caught onto how we unlimited tether and implemented something into FB06 to bypass how dev's work around it. There's a few other threads in Q&A and in a few lollipop rom threads where this has Been mentioned but no one has really mentioned a solution...
No worries though I fully downgraded to nk3, flashed a custy rom and am tethering unlimited as I normally would. Thanks for replying though.
All the experts, I am having where when I click on Wifi calling, it says Enabling and just sits there and does nothing all greyed out
Even moved closer to my WIFI router to see if that fixes the problem but to no avail
I am on Galaxy s6 Edge, TMO, Latest Firmware, Unikernal Root, with .latest XPOSED
I can not seem to get WIFI Calling to work
Please advise what I need to do to fix this if possible .......short of clean re-install
Remember I am rooted so I can go in and make changes you tell me to do if that will fix it all
Thanks Everyone
Wifi calling will only work on a stock unmodified tmobile rom preferably stock firmware.
Pp.
I just finished paying off my Galaxy Tab S4 (T837A), finished the unlock process, and now want to remove the AT&T link on it so I can use everything on it elsewhere. Specifically I'm wanting to get the stock android hotspot setup instead of being forced to do a weird workaround to bypass MyATT.
What is my best bet to do so? Rooting and flashing a custom ROM? Flashing different firmware?
It's been about 6 years since I've messed around with android systems, and I was hoping it would be as easy as ATT unlocking it and then getting access to all the base settings, but I'm not that lucky haha. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
You can try flashing T837V firmware, which is verizon version. Any function other than calling & sms works as it should.
