Is it possible to resize a USB partition? - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I expanded FireTV 4K Max storage by installing a USB flash drive together with a OTG and a usb 3.0 hub but i formatted the whole USB as internal storage.
I would like to know if is it possible to resize the USB partition used as internal storage so i canuse the rest of the USB as external storage without having t format the whole USB?
Hope someone can help.
Thanks in advanced.

your phone memory IS your internal memory (in case that is not clear).
You can enable your internal memory by going to settings/applications/development and checking USB Debugging.
hope that helps.
thanks a lot!
I check the usb debug mode, but my win7 report that can't find adb drivers!
where can i find the adb driver?
Dont enable usb debugging. Drag down the bar at top and go from charge only to usb storage mode.. windows should auto detect it as a usb drive and it will show your sd card as a usb drive...copy files over that way.

But in this mode,my win7 can only find the tf card disk. I can not read/write/format the internal storage. win xp can find 2 htc disk, but also only can net do anything to the internal storage disk!
what can i do?
Then you have something pretty tangled. I plug my standard DInc into my Win7 machine, and choose "Disk drive" mode and I see two disks mounted, one for the phone RAM and one for the SD card.
Likewise....
you can also use something like Astro and move files from the SDcard to the emmc (internal memory folder)

Try formating the drive with NTFS and connect to your phone.
Its because NTFS can be used for unlimited storage.
Still if your phone can't accept it, let me know
exFAT can handle 1tb also. Just do a quick reformat with either one. That should do the trick.

A5 2017 ext storage capability?

Hi everyone!
Is a5 2017 capable of accessing large ext storage devices?
I tried plugging in my seagate 2tb ext hdd using otg adapter but it wont let me access any files. It will only show seagate storage corrupted error. But if i plug my ext hdd in to any computer, everything works fine.
Otg adapter is ok since i can access my 16gb flashdrive connected to my device.
My device is a5 2017 running on android 6.1 and my ext hdd is seagate 2tb which i divide into 4 partitions.

2 TB? Do you use the power adapter also for your storage? Normally if you connect your storage device to a phone it will require it's own connector for power supply so it can run smoothly
Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk
Beside power supply issue. And also, maybe android cannot read NTFS file system, phone just can read FAT32, exFAT
Both of you maybe right.. the larger the size, the more power it requires and my hdd is ntfs as well.. was hoping theres another way around though..

USB Storage as Internal

whats up guys?
So i just bought a 128GB USB C thumb drive. when i insert it into my pixel, it gives me the option to format it as internal storage or as portable storage. if i format it as portable storage, i can not download movies and shows from google play movies and netflix to it. the only way i can do that is to format it as internal. once formatted as internal, i can not insert it into any other device including my PC without having it have to reformat. is there a way to edit the partition it creates to half the size once its formatted on my phone as internal? this way i can plug it into a PC and still use it as a thumb drive? ive been playing around with EaseUS and have not gotten windows to recognize it once modified. anyone got anything?
ok so no matter how i edit partitions after android creates them, they get corrupt and i have to reformat it. now the other thing i tried it to partition the usb drive into 2 64GB partitions. android sees this as 2 partitions and allows me to select which partition i want to format as internal storage or portable storage. if i select the first partition, or the second, it does not matter, android will format the entire drive and use the full 128GB for the phone rather than the 64GB partition. so now my question is, is there a way to "trick" android into thinking its only a 64GB thumb drive so i can later format the second partition and have windows recognize it as a separate 64GB drive?

What file format are you formatting the drive to? Have you tried formatting it in Windows exFAT and then using a decent file manager with OTG support like Solid Explorer? Are you using the stock kernel or custom? Sorry, I don't have a USB-C thumb drive.
I was formatting it to exfat I'm windows. Both partitions. When inserted into my phone andoid says that it is unusable and needs to be formatted. So I click on the first partition and format it as internal. Android reformats the entire drive. Not just the first partition.
If I format it as fat32, Android just reconizes it as a portable thumb drive. I can't change anything about it or format it as internal
This is on pure stock Android and kernel. I'm not rooted.
