Safetynet issue - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Alright so I'm an idiot and was trying to recover a few corrupt files and tried jihosoft and dr.fone. Now my phone fails safetynet check, though the only app that seems to be affected is pokemon go. Any ideas on how to fix without a factory reset? Phone is not rooted nor has it ever been

Snapchat on rooted device?

Is it possible to run snapchat on a rooted device anymore? I guess snapchat decided to up their security again. It seems to be that the only thing out there that will bypass safetynet is magisk, but I don't think that we can install that with a locked bootloader. Has anyone had any success besides unrooting the device?
Apparently I answered my own question myself just now playing around lol. It appears that Xposed is the culprit and uninstalling it, then logging into snapchat does work. (at least for now)
EDIT: xposed randomly let me install it finally and I am still logged into snapchat

Is Magisk/Root causing random reboots for anyone?

I'm trying to figure out if my pixel is randomly rebooting due to magisk/root or if I'll need to RMA it. It's done it on both 8.0 and 8.1. It only seems to happen when the device get's below 20% battery. Is anyone else experiencing this or should I start and RMA? Thanks in advance.
Looks like Magisk 14.5 might have something to do with it.
Starting on page 452 there are a few posts from there on about it.
Symptoms are a random reboot with a soft boot loop of the SystemUI. The only way to correct it is to hard reboot the device.
I can usually go a few days worth of up time between the bug reappearing.
I was the exact same way on 8.0. Every couple of days, it would start randomly rebooting and/or apps would start crashing. The only fix was to hold the power button until it rebooted. Rebooting by just pressing the power button and selecting reboot would always hang.
I was hoping 8.1 would fix it, but it's quite a bit worse. It's done it at least 4 times so far today. Same symptoms. Apps will start crashing (sometimes the foreground app, sometimes background ones), or the phone will just soft reboot, or both. Sometimes it's while I'm using it, sometimes I'm not using it at the time. No rhyme or reason, that I can tell..
I had one app that crashed immediately every time I tried to start it until I uninstalled it and restored it from backup (with data). That was weird.
If this keeps up, I may have to roll back to 8.0.

There is a larger thread on this HERE. There is no definitive smoking gun yet but certain root apps seem to be causing it. One way to rule out Magisk would be to simply uninstall the app temporarily (longpress>>App Info>>Uninstall) then fastboot flash the original boot.img and dtbo.img. Run this way long enough to know for sure whether being rooted is causing the issue. There are tons of people rooted who do NOT have this issue, so it is more than likely one of your root apps/themes is causing it.
Seems removing magisk has fixed it at least for me. The only root specific app I used was unified hosts. Sucks that it's that because I only really use root to block ads.

Have you tried Adaway? I use very few root apps, but that is the first one I add every time. I've not had any reboots at all and it is very effective. Because you only use the one root app, you may find the culprit was UH, and not Magisk.
I have used adaway but unified seemed to block more. I'm going to try and switch back to adaway and see if I continue to go without reboots

You can use different host files you don't have to use the ones that come with AdAway. Try Steven blacks out
I'm having this same issue with Magisk. I experienced it with an older Magisk on 8.0 as well.
I'm thinking about just getting rid of Magisk altogether. However, I used ES File Explorer to edit my build.prop to add the command to disable the nav bar. I'm nervous that uninstalling Magisk will cause the "your system is corrupt" message and a bootloop. However, I also have Flash Kernel installed. I wonder if the custom kernel will allow me to use the phone with the modified build.prop and without Magisk...

Safetynet fails on stock firmware

Kind of a long story:
I have the TIM branded Zenfone 3 Deluxe 570KL and everything was ok (safetynet pass on both CTS and Basic integrity with Magisk root).
Then i updated Magisk to the 15.0 version and got my device encrypted randomly at the restart (and yes this is a problem with this version but hangon), after the upgrade to 15.0 and the device encrypted now the CTS verification fails so i tried to downgrade back to version 14 of magisk to no avail.
From there i downloaded the WW version of the firmware, formatted the phone (inc data), convert the zip to a flashable img file and flashed the stock WW with no root.
Device still encrypted despite the complete format and fails again the safetynet.
Tried to flash the TIM version downloadable from ASUS with the same result.
Somehow i flashed the stock WW and safetynet fails only on CTS but as soon as i install the version 15.1 of magisk and enabling Magisk hide on google apps i fail safetynet also on basic integrity.
Do you know any way to remove this dammned encryption since there is no option to disable it in the security settings and flash a fresh stock firmware that passes safetynet?
Maybe with a twrp backup of a stock firware i can do something?
Regards and happy holydays

I am having the same problem with Magisk v15.1. What I did for a temporary solution is I flashed back to Magisk v14.0 and it now passes safety checks. I am using Android 7.0 and I have the 2.15 ghz version of the phone (Asus_Z016D) Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. Flash back the 14 is the first thing I tried but it failed and then I tried to reset and reflash the stock firmware but now, like I said, nothing that I tried works.
I know is asking a lot but can you make a TWRP backup of your phone except the data partition obviously? Maybe that encryption f** up something that I can't fix just by reset and flash the stock
I have the same problem. Safetynet fails... Are you sure that encryption is the cause?

Would be nice to pass also CTS like before but Im ok with just the integrity check.
And yeah i can confirm that it works now with 15.2.
That was driving me mad; interesting fact: Fire Emblem Heroes go into connection error loop if the integrity check fails or detect that the phone is rooted and that happens at random times. I hate this approach of Nintendo and such, if i want to have control of my phone you shouldnt penalize me for that.
Anyway if someone is brave enough to share a stock/rooted backup that pass the CTS i would gladly try it out.

I agree. Even Gangstar New Orleans isn't downloadable if you have root. It's root the cause! I tought it was the fact that it's available only for some devices for certain reasons. Now even gameloft seems to penalize root users...
Did you go on magisk hide section and selected the apps/games which you are interested in?

To download the apps/games, obviously, you have to use hide on google play then, when are installed, on the apps
Since i want to use Android Pay but got this issue, is there any stock rom which passes certification?
Could you please check:
Open the Google Play Store app Google Play.
Tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
Under “Device certification” you’ll see if your device is certified
Edit: After some research i can say it happens because of unlocked bootloader.
Any solution to pass cts verification?

How to fix Safety net invid response

I have rootrd my phone and used magisk, safety net keeps saying invalid reply. I tried it on stock, Lineage KS and how Hades Rom to get the same response. I have tried reinstalling, isabling magisk hide and what was recommended on the main site but to no avail. Can someone please help me. I am running the newest magisk manager, phone is SM-A520F
As I understand, invalid response doesn't mean saftynet fails. Just check fails because google changed their code again. Do you have issues with application requiring safety net pass? I have the same response as you, yet I use my safety net app just fine. Updating Magisk should probably fix this as it is GUI issue not bypass issue (I assume you use v16) but v17 has issues - bootloops and slow unlock (for me at least). In my case bootloop resulted in encrypted phone somehow. I would highly recommend you do backup before trying magisk 17.

Im lost trying to root my samsung galaxy a50

So, im new to rooting devices and stuff, but recently i tried to root my old samsung a50. At first it seemed like I succesfully rooted the phone, but then i found out magisk wasnt working correctly. I found out that zygisk was the problem, so i googled and tried some fixes. After a while I got stuck in a bootloop. The next day I got everything working again (including zygisk) by doing a full reset and trying again. Then, when I tried to add apps to the zygisk special list (or something like that i forgot what its called), i rebooted my phone because it said i would have to do that to make my changes work. After I did that everything has stopped working. Root checker doesnt even confirm that the phone is rooted at all and magisk, zygisk and ramdisk dont seem to be working either if i look at it in the magisk app.
Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this? Ive looked all over redit but couldnt find anything.
Btw i used these instructions:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-root-unroot-rooting-unrooting-a505fn.4447651/#post-88239721
If screenshots are neccesairy let me know, but they will be in dutch so i figured it wouldnt really help.
Edit:
I kindoff fixed it. I went in to orangefox recovery and then rebooted trough that service selecting recovery. Now root checker does confirm the device is rooted and magisk seems to be working, but not completely. It still says that ramdisk is dissabled. Any advice on how to fix this? or does it even matter?
My A50 also says that Ramdisk is disabled and I haven't found a way to fix it, and since it's an A-only device it's really hard to flash Magisk. I hope you find a way to fix it
