Bought two 6p's and 1 has loose/loud buttons, the other has solid/quieter buttons. I feel it has to do with the tolerances of the metal around/behind the button. If you graze or lightly tap repeatedly, you hear audible click, especially with volume rocker, almost as if it rattles. Probably not quite bad enough to warrant a replacement, just a little annoying knowing the button is just slightly off every time I pick up phone. Curious if anyone else is experiencing this?
If it rattles, I would caution not pushing the IP68 rating too far since even a few drops of water or dust ingress is possible if the phone isn't sealed properly
Might have to return the loose button one...

Can you make a video for us to demonstrate the difference, since you can use them side by side?
Would be interesting to see/hear for sure.
Smaller hardware "problems" wouldn't surprise me, considering the leaked Assembly Video showed about 80% of the assembly process being done by hand by humans, giving lots and lots of room for mistake/error/impurities.
Care to share the 80% manual assembly video? Great tactile feel is a wonderful feeling, it gives a sense of quality

Google took down the original videos on Youtube, but I'm pretty sure that you can easily find copies with a quick search engine "Google Pixel 6 Pro Assembly Video".
Edit: Ah, you don't even need a search engine. Just use Youtube.
My first search result:
Edit2: I just re-watched this and it's still hilarious how many spelling mistakes these internal tutorial videos have.
Edit 3: There are, by the way, more leaked videos. There also is a disassembly video for the Pixel 6 pro, and there are two videos (assembly/dis-) for the Pixel 6 non pro aswell.
I know that I saved them somewhere on my PC just in case I need to repair my phone later, it should come in handy to have the "official" tutorials to do that, lel.
I understand that a company wants to cover leaks but at the same time they were the ones spreading deliberate leaks for months on end to create hype. Ironic

Well, it's safe to assume that Google leaked some of these spec sheets on purpose to generate hype, but I am 99,99999998758124% sure that Google did not deliberately spread the Assembly & Disassembly video (including part numbers!), since these are sensitive information that you don't want to get known in public. Especially to not give your competitors an edge, those that are always watching.

After praising the tp2 for nearly two weeks now I have decided I will return it to MPD.
I paid 457 for this phone and I will except nothing less than 100 percent perfection in terms of build quality.
After 2 weeks use I have to following problems:
- The sceen travel before it hits the lcd in the centre of the screen had increased rapidly and I can now notice a significant change between sensitivity at the edges and the centre (about 1-2mm).
- The sliding mechanism has got easier which is good, but the movement of the screen is about 7mm when at full tilt, where as it was minimal at best when I received it.
Im not writing this as a sob story; I have a genuine worry that these could be very common problems and yet im unsure at the chances of returniing it for a replacement - hoping it wont have the same problems
Mine went back I had it one day, They called me when they received it and then acitoned a refund. The Touch Pro 2 is a terrible built device for something that cost's half a grand.
I have gone back to the Touch HD but really miss the keyboard oh well at least my device isn't going to fall apart. My partners device was perfect and now after a month of use it is now wobblying when you touch the screen and slider is so loose.
sorry you need to mail the webshop and wait for your reply sometimes they reply quick other days they take a while to reply. It will get worse get it replaced or refunded is my advice.
had two deviced now and sent both back. i cross my fingers the third onw will be without any isues. think MANY bad manufactured devices are out there
on my 4th so far and not 100% happy, wobble in the screen when tilted. Very bad design from HTC, poor build quality.
wobble in the screen would not be such a big problem for me i never tilit the screen. hope ill get a device with no other problems next time.
i cant understand why they built this useless tilt feature into the slider the slider could be much more "robust" without this tilit mechanism.
Say it ain't so....
How common are these screen issues that you guys are mentioning, the wobble and such? These issues that you folks are bringing up are starting to worry me, and what worries me even more is that some of you went through 3 or 4 of the TP2s already, leading me to believe that these problems are more widespread than I'd like. I've been anticipating this phone's arrival since February and I really hope that these issues aren't so common that it turns the TP2 into a total let-down instead of the great device that all this hype is leading me to believe. If at all possible could you guys please post updates on your situations?
thanks, and I hope all works out well for you guys.
What do you mean by a wobble? Is the screen itself deformed or are the letters/pictures deformed on the display?
Maybe you can post a picture or something?
I hardly ever use the Tilt feature. When I first heard about it I thought it was brilliant, still looks cool, but it isn't comfortable to work with ...
the wobble issue is discussed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524641
some people are worried about the screen wobbles a little bit when its tilt like in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6A5v-DR1A8
i think this is ok if it is not too much.
BUT i had two devices with a problem similar to this video and thats absolute not ok for me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BObBGt40hYg
the screen wobble isnt such a big problem for me, it makes it easier to slide out flat.
my problem is with the flex on the touchscreen. it feels like you push down on one plastic layer which then hits the lcd behind, making it less sensitive in the centre than the edges where i dont have this problem.
i think there is nothing to do. this is the "touch" in touch screen. it has to be little bit flexible to react to your input. dont compare it to the iphone thats a nother technique.
or do you mean something else?
Hi lhwparis
real glad you posted those videos of the wobble. I was beginning to think it was something quite serious, but i see that kind of bounce in most tiltable systems. So not so worried now.
Has anyone done a poll yet of how many people have a phone that does this? strange that its not the same with everyones.
what do you mean with "bounce"? video 1 or the beginning of video 2.
i think the wobble when screen is tilt is normal on most phones (only some without wobble) and thats not a great problem. the second video with the gap between the display and the phone in closed position is a realy great problem for me.
yes i did watch both, i guess im refrerring to the wobble, whilst its open.
perhaps the bounce whilst its closed is not so normal, although again im not sure how much of gap would be a source of concern.
I've got to be honest here. I am one of the fussiest people in the world when it comes to gadgets, but I think there is a lot of over-reaction about the "wobble" issue. The mechanism which allows the screen to tilt will have some "play" in it - otherwise you'd never be able to slide the keyboard out. The same "play" is what means that there is a gap between keyboard and screen - and this will be larger on the side nearest the power button, and it will give a little when you push on this side of the device, as the two halves are held together by the hinge at the opposite edge. It's unavoidable - even if your device doesn't do this from new, I can pretty much guarantee that it will do so within a few weeks. If the hinge is actually loose - so the screen doesn't stay put where you leave it, or if the slider mechanism works without you wanting it to, then you have a problem - but small gaps and small amounts of play in the mechanism are not only normal; they are what prevents damage from operating the mechanism.
"Give" near the centre of a large touchscreen is also pretty common - it's difficult to get the touchscreen to lay perfectly flat, as it is only secured at the edges. Again, there will be a degree of variation between samples, but this is another thing that will change with time. It also quite often varies with air pressure - if you take any touchscreen device (other than the iPhone, which uses a different principle) up in an aircraft, the touchscreen will frequently bulge out more from the screen due to the reduced ambient pressure and the small amount of air trapped under the touchscreen.
I really think that some of you are getting a little too over-stressed about this - 99% of these devices are fine. Leaving aside anything else, these will all have been tested in the factory, and mechanical function of the screen hinges and touchscreen will have been tested on every device before it was packed.
still, its disturbing to hear how many people are getting differences in their build quality. perhaps this is why tmobile uk are not going to be launching the device?

The flexibility in the hinge is nothing to do with the resistiveness of the screen. Regardless of the screen, there should not be this amount of flex in the hinge.
what a load a rubbish.............if any of you fusspots owned a tytn 2 you probably would have nightmares. too much fussing over a wobble which is manditory to avoid sudden harsh impacts and decrease tension on the ribbon that goes from the board to the screen. the screen when tiltled was not actually done so we can sit there wobbling it. in fact no one actually needs to wobble the phone. the phone is sturdy when in full tilt then it works. imagine people actually sitting there wobbling the thing. what do you think will happen? it will loosen...........the wobble is not a feature of the phone but for safety and longevity of the moving parts of the phone. if you don't like the phone then don't buy it. if the screen had no wobble i'd be reading whole new thread of how it should. obviously this phone willl not please everyone and so those moaning about wobble should not buy the phone! obviously there will be some faulty handsets but needing 4 handsets should tell you that maybe it ain't the phone but actually you with the issue. it amazes me how people always find one thing negative to focus on but forget all and i mean all the positive aspects of this phone. what wobble?????????? touch HD which i do own has nothing on tp2 so thats a backward step! this is a phone not a tennis racket
no you are right, but the gap has got bigger in the middle since when i first got it, and comparing it to my friends HD the gap is far greater. There is barely any travel when it comes to the edges, and I see no difference of why this couldnt be the same for the centre.

i said that wobble is normal in all posts before but i sent back my two devices because of the issue shown in this video (at the beginning):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BObBGt40hYg
so you want to tell me its normal that i can lift of the screen more than 5mm in closed position?
my friend has a TP2 too and he cant lift of the screen from device and there is nearly no gap!

Good luck..
The screen went really weird on mine, colours all messed up so on. Emailed mpd, which of course they didn't answer in a timely fashion so I phoned them to which they refused to help me over the phone and told me to email.
Half a day later I get a reply refusing to take it back as I've had it for over seven days and to send it to Regeneris or whoever they're called so I did that. The idiots at MPD failed to realise Regeneris wont' repair these phones, and then forward it on to HTC .. which of course it bizarrely taken them three days to do so.
Apparently now HTC have had it a week, and I've been bugged Regeneris every day, and the answer is the same .. "We've not heard anything, but I'll email them again" Either they've not emailed them as promised or HTCs customer service is evern worse than MPDs.
I've now been without my TP2 for over two weeks, with no sign of getting back and needless to say I'm pissed off!
Ok. I'm starting to see more and more threads popup about their beloved TP2 taking damage, or getting destroyed. There are links starting to fly around and i thought before it got too crazy and disorganized, I would start to try to collect them into a single thread. Perhaps people could even tell their tales of how their device got damaged, their service experience, and most importantly, the cost of repair (if any).
I also plan to add other things such as backup software and links to parts when i find them.
Hopefully, others plights will serve as a list of what NOT to do to our phones. lol

The "Wobble"
A lot of people seem to be complaining about their screen wobbling while tilted. Not sure why anyone is messing with it, but regardless, measurements have popped up. (typical guys, lol) My personal TP2 has ~3mm of freeplay. I personally, consider this acceptable. Others have reported as much as 9mm of freeplay. Its been said that HTC claims a little freeplay is normal. How much freeplay is normal to them, is unclear. From what i have gathered around this forum, is that others seem to consider exchanging it when its 5mm or more of movement. Ill keep everyone posted on this.

My device has 6 bright pixels. Barely noticeable due to such a hi-res screen. Not exactly "damage" but I see you included the screen "wobble" in your list.
Dead/bright pixels in tp2
FYI - CNN.CN are selling spare parts. I have used them in the past for Kaiser parts.

Yea, im including anything that might be considered a hardware issue, that would more than likely cause the TP2 to stop working, or need a particular part replaced.
Never thought i would have to post here. .
so ive had pretty much the worst day of my life. I got hit by a car on my way to work at 530 in the morning. [I ride a bike, since work is a couple streets over]. I have road rashes all over my face, ear, and shoulder. I decided to call in to work, and instead, go to marching band rehearsal. [Still in high school, btw.].. At lunch, me and a couple friends went to CarlsJr. for some eats. and then drove back to the school. I got out of the car and just by fate, my Tmo TP2 fell, bounced off my leg and landed under the wheel. For some reason my friend pulled forward, and then all i heard around me was a crunch. My screen got curb stomped by his tire. I yelled and screamed. after he stopped i told him he ran it over. He, then, backed it up thinking he was still on top of it, and crunched it some more. So now he was parked on my poor, helpless phone. Had no choice but to tell him to roll off of it. She still works. The screen is still touch sensitive, but its cracked to hell. The plastic is cracked from top to bottom, and the top left quarter of the LCD is no more. just a black liquid crystals where color once fulfilled my heart..
well at least i have insurance on it. Will T-mobile replace my handset under the circumstances?

I would be demanding that this persons car insurance cover it, as it was ancillary to the wreck. INAL but it's certainly easy to argue that if he had not hit you, you would not have dropped your phone.
Did anyone hear anything about newton rings or overheat damage on the TP2 like it seems to happen quite often to TouchHD users?
I am a bit afraid of that as HTC seems to deny warranty coverage for that kind of defect and the TP2 uses the same hardware (to large parts).
If you have insurance then you can easily get if fixed right? At least, most insurances also cover repairs due to own faults.
in my experience with Tmo and there insurance..
in the US they use a company called "Assurian"
they insure the LINE that you have with tmobile.. so basically whatever phone you have on that number, is supposedly insured...
they also say no matter WHAT the reason they will cover the cost of the phone...if you drop it, get it wet... crack the screen..whatever...
BUT... this is what i recomend...
before you put a claim in, call tmobile OR assurian, and just cassually ask about how the insurance works...ask what they would cover.. ( chances are they will cover everything)
next they first try to help you fix the phone ( if it were software related issues) then they tell you you have a 100$ deductible and they will replace the phone for you... and pretty much mail you a new phone..
in my circumstance i had a SE p900 i paid $1000 for... when i plugged in the ear peice it broke the internal connector and it never was able to use the handset speaker during calls...
they first "tried" to fix it on the phone by changing settings...obviusly to no avail.. then they said ok, no problem since tmobile doesnt sell p900's we will replace it with the best brand they do sell... unfortunatly none of the phones tmo sold was a valid replacement.. i told them no its unacceptable.... then then argued a little cuz they had to shell out $1000 because when i signed up they told me they would cover any phone for any reason..
anyways... after 100$ deductible and some time on teh phone, they cut me a check for $800....i was very impressed...
you should be fine, i dont think they will try to fix it, i think they will just replace it...also, MAYBE just tell them you lost it, they will replace it with deductible.. this way even though its crunched you will have SOME spare parts... but use caution because if you tell them its lost you cant EVER power it up on your sim chip. it shows on tmobile. then they will try to call you on insurance fraud...
Hello,
I've had a peculiar problem recently.
My internal phone speaker (earpiece, not loudspeaker) sounds pretty terrible now, when it sounded absolutely fine just over the weekend. I did not do anything different than before and I didn't do anything to damage it... (to my knowledge at least)
The problem is... the speaker vibrates and is very distorted and sounds really loud. Like if you were playing music too loudly on a low powered amp/speaker.
I tried installing a new rom and some volume tweaks to lower the volume hoping it's a software thing, but it still sounds very distorted...
Any ideas? Is there an equalizer for the internal speaker?
I'm hoping the speaker itself is not damaged...
Stomped.
Ghost image...
I had to return mine after a week. Two faint bluish purple areas formed on the lcd, almost like a faint image got 'burned' in. I'm not sure how this happened, and it was def a burnt image. They replaced it with no questions asked, but I did get the warranty on the new phone....along with the body glove case.
Finally I have sold my TP2. Traded it in for the Samsung GT-i8000 which will arrive next week.
Though I loved the TP2, it's speed and it's hardware keyboard, it bugged me that it is slowly falling apart (well, not literally).
When I first had it, the screen would hold up and wouldn't wobble much. Now it wobbles so much it annoys me. I guess that is normal wear and tear.
Anyway, that wasn't the most annoying part. It is normal for it to wobble I guess. The worst is the sliding screen has started scratching both sides of the keyboard. Not just minor scratches but deep ones. So much so, I was afraid to slide my keyboard out again. I would of kept the stickers on to protect it but it feel off as time went by. So that is why HTC placed stickers on these things maybe, but unfortunately it never stayed on long enough.
And last but not least, there were newton rings, slam in the middle of the screen. I can notice it when the screen is lit or sleeping. I went to HTC to see if they will fix it for me. Turned out they blame me for putting it my pocket and with prolonged pressure, it will create these rings... Damn! If I knew, I wouldn't of kept it in my pocket without any casing. Never knew my pocket will create these rings. Fixing it costs $1200 HKD. EAT MY SHORTS!
So all 3 added together, I don't want to keep it anymore. I don't want another because of the slider and wobbly screen. I went to Wilson Communications (Hong Kong) and traded it in and when they saw the Newton Rings, they said it is normal for large screens to have them as it's hard for the large piece of top layer membrane to keep rigid long enough. Eventually they all will give in and the rings will appear after prolong usage.
I personally disagree, I think only some will suffer from them as my HD is still ok, no rings whatsoever. Even after it has been in my wife's bag since April.
I also guess I can't wait until WinMo 7 comes out when it will support capacity screen. HTC has some new copyright thingy where you are able to use both a stylus and your fingers (not nails) to operate the system. Some kind of electro-stylus. So accuracy won't be a problem anymore.
Until then, I might have to keep my i8000 for a while. The mrs is not rather happy about me changing phones so often. LOL.

Sounds like the other reports of pressure on the screen causing damage.. It's not 'burnt' or image burn (which does not happen on LCDs, although a very temporary similar thing can happen but goes away after being powered off for a bit). Most likely your phone screen was pushed inwards at some point.

Does anyone know if all versions of the TP2 are susceptible to the back of the screen scratching the keyboard (sans stickers, of course)? It looks like some versions (Original HTC, Sprint, Verizon and AT&T versions) have a slight ridge/seam around the perimeter of the kepboard that I assume may make the sliding mechanism better, while the T-Mobile USA version does not have this ridge/seam. Does this slight design change affect the susceptibility of the keyboard getting scratched?

That crossed my mind, but I was EXTRA careful to never push too hard. I also kept it in the case on my belt, and never even came close to hitting it or anything. With the money I spent, I made sure I didn't.
I had to DOA my 2nd Pro2 for the same issue. I thought it was software related, but it wasn't. My 3rd one is flawless....

Anyone is having this issue?
http://phandroid.com/2016/10/25/google-pixel-camera-lens-defect-flare-glare-halo/
Yup, I'm having this problem.
Although, to be honest, from all the research I've done and now reading that article I feel that this must probably be a design flaw. It is odd though, with Google advertising this is the best camera and all... This is the only phone I've ever owned where this halo effect has been so easy to replicate; heck, I've actually never seen this problem on any of my previous phones (and that's why I got so worried at first)
Google will probably quietly tweak the Pixel's design to fix this in later units (or so I hope) and if that's the case all Pixels (from the Google Store at least) have a year warranty so I'll just RMA it once that happens.
EDIT: Looks like they're fixing it with software
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixe...googler_on_halo_effect_can_be_mitigated_with/
Me as well. Had a google support case open. After jumping through hoops with him I ran into several threads around the web with others having the same issue. Not sure this one can be fixed.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixe...googler_on_halo_effect_can_be_mitigated_with/
I think this has to do with the placement of the lens. If you look carefully, you can see how there's a small gap between the actual lens and the glass cover. This gap causes light to hit the edges, and since it's glass, it reflects back into the camera lens. If you compare it to the flashlight or other phone cameras, you can see how their lenses usually have their own compartment (or package) that peaks out through the case OR that they're completely aligned with the case.

I love how all the comments are "wow! amazing! really quick response! they're going to release a software fix soon! Apple wouldn't do that! we love you google" and there's a follow up post four months later saying "er...still not fixed yet"!
It's a design fault. They're letting light in because the camera wasn't designed properly. A software fix will only make a little difference. Whenever you read about how good the pixel's camera is (it should be - the phone costs nearly £1000) remember that it has a design fault that can't be fixed.
I am having issue but putting a case on phone solves it no flares now,
I'm using spigen rugged armour case ?
When i press on the back of my tablet on the samsung logo i can feel a little space under the glass and its moving down a little bit. You can even hear a clicking sound. Everyone is talking about good build quality. So is it a production error?

I reported this a while back. I returned my first as it was very bad. My current one is not bad but this appears to be common. I think the glass frame comes unbonded. I decided to just put a case on and ignore. I love the table, but too bad samsung has such poor quality control.

I want use my tablet without a case at home. I'll try to get a new one and hope it will be better then. I can`t accept such poor quality for such a high price.
Does anyone has a tablet without that problem?
I've said it on another thread. I don't believe it's a manufacturing defect. I've tried 5 tablets, all the same. It's a large sheet of glass, so it will flex and I don't think Samsung glued it in the middle. Most likely it's only glued around the edges.

I understand what you're saying, but I have 2 issues with that theory
1) Then why can you hear it and feel it trying to grab Like it's glue that won't quite grab>
2) Why is it only one area, the rest of the back feels bonded and strong?
It may be battery removal pull tab? I don't know. One day someone will tear it down, only then we will find out.
I went to a Electronics Store today and had a look at the Tab S4 there. It was perfect. No clicking no space under the glass. I will send my device back. This is terrible for such an expensive device.
Got my new device yesterday. It is perfect.

Good to hear, hopefully it stays that way. I do love this tab.
Hey guys,
I've seen a lot of the devices with tiny black pixel (not physical damage) at the either longer edge of the screen.
How could that happen any what happened? Why only at the edge?
Could the case cause that, like pushing too much the screen or what?
There are no cracks on the screen.
This is it guys, why does it happen any why ad the edges?

That's caused by either software or firmware.
Looks like an indexing tab of some kind...
That's what I initially thought, but seeing several YouTube videos I think it is a mechanical defect caused by pressure on/bending of the phone...
So it stays at the same place when you rotate the screen?
That curve looks near perfect... I find that suspicious.
As for bending I think the glass would break before the display got damaged.
Might be malware.

Samsung has had this issue in the past on the edge model devices. Most definitely hardly issues.

That was a long time ago. The 10+ has one of the best AMOLED displays out there. I tested mine again today as I do from time to time.
Perfect after over 20 months of heavy usage.
The QC seems pretty tight on the 10+ displays.
Anything can fail though and it's a very intricate display to manufacture. Yet there have been very few QC complaints about this variant's display. Forbes had a poorly researched and written article about it, that's about it... fake news.
These phones absolutely must have good case or they will be damaged. Almost no protective bezel... and they wuv to corner hit and face plant.
High G load impacts can damage/destroy chipsets, mobos and displays internally.
A 3 foot drop onto concrete is all it takes.
The phone's housing should soak up some of that but it's unpredictable how the loading will be absorbed and transmitted throughout the device.

The s8s had the issue some and I've seen 9s with it. This isn't a long time ago. This is the same identical issue all the way back to the s6s. If you Google it. It's actually a quite common issue.

I'm amazed they can get this technology to work let alone be fairly reliable. Google search didn't get it again this time, Google search is getting worse be the day. Even for shopping
It may also indicate that more care is needed protecting these curved screen phones from physical extremes including cold and heat.
Unfortunately Samsung isn't releasing failure rates or possible causes.

Yea some where saying it's just the pressure of the curves. We'll never know. I had it happen on my flat s8 too normally it's in the corners. What ever it was I ended up donating my device to a kid here in the forums and I know he used it for quite awhile with that issue. Didn't progress any worse though.

Maybe poor QC or just hard to detect flaws during manufacturing. It's a crap shoot to some extent.
Be nice to know the truth though, huh?
Looks like your typical OLED impact damage.
