Question access to google pay saved cards - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Hi,
I use 3 different debit/credit cards depending on situation. In my pixel 2 xl I was able to press power button and chose the one I need. Here in 6 pro, for now at least, I have to go to notification bar and then google pay and that drives me crazy. Is there a shortcut possible or it's the same as what they did with internet and wifi settings?

If you have Show Wallet enabled on the lock screen you just press the icon in the bottom right of the lock screen and then unlock with your fingerprint straight into Google Pay wallet.

Thanks, I didn't enable the wallet earlier 'cause I wasn't sure what this option does.

Just one more question, I do not want to open a new thread.
I can pay without unlocking my phone. Why?? At first I thought it was only on the underground in London, then I paid for my shopping 15 pounds easily. I'm a little bit stressed since lots of homeless and buskers already have card terminal payments in London, so it's not a problem for a thief to steal some of my money from the card.
Is it a bug, is it a "feature", how can I turn it off.

I don't know if disabling "Show device controls" helps - probably not, but it was enabled by default.

solved - apparently it's not a bug, it's a feature which suppose to make life easier

I think at least your screen has to be on to be able to pay. And it's "only" up to some specific amount.
I just keep NFC turned off and enable it via quick tile before paying.

mhm, interesting, I'm going to check it, because I know I had my phone locked, but I'm actually not sure if I didn't have the screen on.

I'm pretty sure that this has nothing to do with Google Pay in particular, but instead with your bank/creditcard provider. When setting up GPay, they tell you in the stuff you are supposed to read the limit to which they won't require an unlock or pin - and as far as I know, that differs between companies. It's the same limit that is set up for your card when you buy contactless in a store. So my best guess would be to contact your bank/provider/whatever and ask them to remove/change that limit.

There is a setting in the NFC settings that you can turn on or off. "Require device unlock for NFC"

Amazing, thanks a lot!

[Q] Rooting for privacy?

Happy day,
I've spent some time learning about my phone, messing around a little bit with what comes stock and such. One thing that keeps nagging me is how much of my data the various programs in Google Play want. What business is it of a game-maker to want my contact list? Why should a ringtone or wallpaper or recipe or any other program require that I surrender my data? Sure, they want mine for billing or marketing, that's fine, but why my contacts?
Here's one. A company called Droidhen makes a game. They require the ability to read phone status and ID, which gives them info about me and the number a call is connected to. Why do they require knowing the number to which I am connected?
The list goes on, of course, and maybe I misunderstand Google's warnings about what these companies want, but perhaps not?
Which brings me to the reason for my post. I would like to be able to use and pay for programs that do not access all of my accounts, take my data, track me and such. If I use a program that needs to know my location in order for it to work, that's fine. But in the end, I want to limit what companies can seize.
Will rooting provide me with access to the privacy controls I want?
You could try using this, it's a port of how MIUI handles superuser and permissions. I have not used it myself but it seems like it has the features you are looking for by managing what permission's an app is allowed to have.

For the droidhen game, it needs the ability to read your phone status and Id so if someone calls, it will go to the phone call I think. I havent looked into it much but theres options out there

[Q] TMobile says: consider rebooting

I just got a notification from my Tmobile (US) My Account app that I hadn't rebooted in a week and should consider rebooting if I was having any issues.
WTF?
I remember when I had my g1 I had some problem with 3g because my SIM card went bad. The vs rep suggested I reboot my phone at least one a week to "clear up" any issues I might be having.
This was back when I would reboot my phone almost daily to try new mods and stuff for my phone.
Rebooting seems the cure for all tech device issues. I was just surprised to get a message like this from TMO

It's just the My T-Mobile application acting like a nanny. Personally, I don't recommend using this app at all, but that's just my opinion.
It's the T-Mobile "My Account"/"My Device" application. Go into the Account app, go to system messages or whatever, and turn them off.
I've also uninstalled the My Account app since then, as the mobile interface for checking minutes/usage is really really good. Just added a bookmark shortcut to my homescreen instead:

check out their mobile website, its just as good as the app if not better. i stopped using the app a while back.
I don't have a data plan on the phone. The app is useful for changing my plan from pay as you go by the minute to something with data for when I need it.
I hadn't realized the app had alerts. They're off now.

Why would you ever want a superphone like the GNex w/o a data plan? Especially when prepaid plans are so cheap?

I almost always have wifi when near home. If I'm not near wifi and I need data, I turn on TMO's data for a day plan using the app.
I use prepaid data when traveling.

Emergency Call button on lock screen... can it be removed

I have a USA version by Verizon and on the lock screen at the bottom is an "Emergency Call" button. Anyone know if this can be removed and where the setting lives?
I know I could change lock screen apps with a launcher, but I don't want to at this time so I wonder if this is cooked deep into the OS and only a root function can kill it off.
I've only ever seen thsi if there's no SIM inserted, or if there's no service. It's not there in normal use. Not for me anyway. Never has been for any device.
Least you think I was BSing you can see 4G and cell signal (so SIM card is installed) and ..... emergency call button on lock screen

Hmmm...that's very weird. Never seen that on any device before. Is it a carrier branded device? Can only think it's a carrier mod? Or perhaps a requirement in the country/state you're from?
Verizon.. USA as per first post. Actually, when I Google this, it is not that uncommon but people - like me - hate it. So far I only see root and then mod as an option (which is not yet available) or a different lock screen app (which I don't want to do). I see no setting to turn it off in the Lock Screen settings area.

I can confirm on my LG G2 AT&T variant (running an international variant rom port) it shows this "emergency call" button with knock code enabled. No way to disable it that I am aware of without root. Hopefully this will come soon!
I would guess it is a safety feature when the device has any type of pin/knock code/pattern. It lets someone dial emergency numbers like 911 without knowing the code.

Free wifi hotspot for unlimited users *No Root Needed/ no commands*

Very simply download FoxFi free version. The free version limits the amount of data you can use. Start your hotspot connection up through foxfi. Wait until the hot spot comes on, then all you are going to do is simply go to your recent apps screen, long press on foxfi, force stop. Your hotspot will now run without a hitch. No root, no computer needed !
Do you happen to have any screen shots for confirmation? I mean if this works, that would be awesome but I would assume they would patch this eventually. I would record the version number of foxfi for future reference as well.
There are a few downsides with using FoxFi:
Costs money to get full functionaility
Requires a dedicated app
Installs a VPN, so you need lockscreen PIN
Can't use SmartLock
If you are rooted, I highly recommend you use my method which allows use of the native hotspot and the hotspot toggle. All you need to do is replace a file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/how-to-enable-native-hotspot-unlimited-t3166435
Certificate issue
I have the paid version of foxfi and when it prompts the foxfi certificate to open a VPN it rejects it on my G4.
Any help!
Edit: got it to work.

Have you run into any data caps with using foxfi though? Does it shut off after a certain amount of time?
It really sucks because you need a lock screen PIN. I guess if there was more option after rooting in the development section, I would really do that, but I do not feeling like rooting and not getting updates just to get tether if all i need is a PIN though
Long pressing from that window does not open an option to force stop for me. Was that in an update or something? If I go to Application manager, it just shuts it down...
You have to long press the FoxFi app in that window in the upper left corner over the FoxFi icon to get to the App info pg and hit force stop.
Worked fine. The lock screen isn't a big deal, since I don't tether all the time. Its just nice to have the option.

With the similar hardware ... has anyone tried this with the V10?
Is this still provisioned? and can they track your usage and tell if it is being tethered if you don't pay the extra for the tethering service? @geoff5093

Verizon can always tell if they really wanted to, but I have yet to see a single report of anyone being contacted by Verizon for tethering with a third party app or modded hotspot.

Can't set android pay as default payment app

Hello.
Some time ago i bought used Motorola Z Play on ebay from Germany. I thought all Z play have dual sim but i wrong.
So i unlock bootloader, root my phone and make my phone dual sim ( i used this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/how-to/guide-to-enable-dualsim-singlesim-t3594529)
and install magisk.
Long story huh? So that's the problem.
I can install Android Pay and can add credit card. But i can't pay by Android Pay.
I think it's because i can't set Android Pay as default payment method.
When i install AP he ask me 2 times:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I click yes but nothing happens and in Tap and Pay i see nothing.
I tried to install diffferent apps which can use NFC and these apps appear in Tap&Pay just fine.
So please help me understand what is the reason? Why i can't set AP as default payment app?
Do you pass both safety net tests? Does RootBeer sample detect anything if you set it in Magisk hide?
I'd bet it doesn't let you pay because it detects something. Making a single Sim device a dual SIM one is probably too much

Hello. Thanks for answer!
Yes, Magisk show all safety net test passed
And rootbeer shows all green.
It drives me crazy.
I installed Google Pay now and icon set as default not working. I can't click on it
