I know the Fold 3 has DEX. But has someone tried using a USB-C to USB-C cable to attach to a monitor? I have a touchscreen monitor and I use said cable to connect my Note 9 to enable the touchscreen function with DEX. However when I plug my Z Fold 3, it doesn't work.
I thought dex only worked through hdmi to type c?
portable monitors are usb c to USB c
It should work. Make sure it's not just the connection to that monitor by trying usb c to hdmi. Potentially need to do the initial setup of dex in order to get it to work properly with a touch screen monitor
It's probably the cable - I've tried with usb c to usb c and it works in my case.

I'm almost certain it's the cable. I've had this issue so many times.

Some cable is only for charging not data. Get the right cable.
There is definitely something up with the Dex on the z fold 3, I use to plug my S20 ultra and s21 ultra into laptop docks to test them and zfold doesn't detect the monitors at all, if I plug direct to screen by usb c or usb c to hdmi it works fine , hopefully this will get fixed

Both will work fine. Anker makes good stuff too. I have many of their cables and chargers all quality stuff. Definitely recommend them.

ok thank you. I was curious because i heard that if you use wrong cable it might damage phone because of difference in current flows. If we used type c to USB adopter and charge it visa usb cable then i assume it will charge it with normal speed? or still rapid charge?

That cable has the proper resistor configuration to indicate legacy source device so it should be fine (just look for 56k resistor)
Anytime you have a conversion from USB A to C the cable is supposed to be configured in such a way to tell the device being charged to fall back to USB charging rates (.5A to 1.5A). If that 56K resistor was substituted with a different resistor like in earlier designs, the device being charged might think the source device can handle more and will pull more current than available. This could damage your USB port in your example. However since the proper resistor is in place, the 5x will limit the current draw to what USB A can do and your USB A port should be ok.

That app is not always 100% accurate. I have cables that Benson says are not in spec, that the app says are in spec. So I don't trust it.

Nexus 5x is USB 2.0 type C. There is a difference between cable interface and cable speed. Cable speed is designed as 1.0, 2.0 3.0 etc. Cable interface is designed by letters - A, B, C. Type A refers to the standard USB outlet found on a computer, while type C refers to the connector that plugs into the Nexus 5X. You can have a type c cable at either 2.0 or 3.0 speeds.

Not sure why they don't show up for you.
Maybe you need to enable developer options and USB debugging. I've had those enabled from the beginning so I wouldn't know if they have any affect on USB options.
This is what you should be seeing, the USB notification, then the USB notification options once you tap on the notification.

I think it was intended to facilitate moving files from an older phone. Mine is due to arrive any moment. I think we will all have some real answers soon.
Except most old phones do not have USB-C

You plug the USB C end into the Pixel and then use another cable to connect an older phone (presumably one you're already using with the older phone). Micro USB/Lightning into the older phone, USB into the adapter. The adapter can also be utilized for OTG - USB C into the Pixel, flash drive/other USB device into the USB port.

Also to use OTG. Plug that in, and you can hook up a keyboard, mouse, removable drive, someone elses phone, whatever.
Could someone clarify. I plugged the adapter in how I was directed by a thread at the "pixel community". The thread referenced a way to use the adapter to transfer files however I plugged it in set the settings to xfer files and nothing. Does the adapter go into the pixel or the (in my case) Note 7? The thread listed a way to make these transfers upon start up but I'm way past start up. I need to transfer a couple apps and a big phone log and a truck load of texts. Any help out there?
I'm new to USB-C so no idea if there is a working OTG cable. Any explanation and/or suggestion please. Thanks.
I got this one today. Works great!
I suggest this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018G6IK7E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gjdfybD9ZQT4X
As a minimum.
Will let you use you existing micro usb cables
Will fast charge
Supports connecting your ecisting micro otg gizmos
Tronsmart is cheaper and also supports qc but not otg.
Watch out for junk c cable. Bad fit and trickle charge only.
I'm looking into purchasing a usb type-c to HDMI cable. Is anyone aware of a program that would let me output my phone's display to my pc?

I'm pretty sure if you have the cable you don't need an extra program. It should just work.
Yep. And if your tv supports it wireless display too. Thought it would only work with LG tvs as that is what LG implied but I can sync to my samsung JS9500 just fine. Lag isn't too bad. And when doing screen changes or apps it looks like graphics glitch out but they don't. Haven't tested YouTube or my recorded videos yet. Have more important stuff to do first.
Hi. I'm on how to connect my Dex Station (with Note 8) to my new Asus Usb C Monitor.
I tried a Piaek adapter. No go. Seems like anything made to go usb to HDMI doesn't work the other way.
There are a couple of HDMI to usb 3 converters, like inogeni but theyt are really expensive
Anyone know anything about this?

Hi all,
I'm seeing this issue in the last 24 hours. The cable provided in the box is working only on one side when inserted into the phone. The brick's end has no problem.
Checked with USB-A to C cable, no issues. Checked with USB-A to C with the USB-C to A adaptor provided in the box, no issues even with with the adaptor inserted in the brick; doesn't work with adaptor inserted into the phone.
USB OTG Is not working - shows "Charging connected device via USB"; I remove the USB pen-drive and the phone restarts.
USB-C audio dongle not recognized at all.
What can be the fault? I even tried the restart, safe mode and powered off - same this everywhere.

Of course and what do I do about the OTG USB-A Female to USB-C Male adaptor and the USB-C to 3.5mm Dongle? Change them also? Not to sound cocky, but your response says that you have not read my post.

I'm having the same problem, I think it started with the last update. I'm not able to transfer files from my windows 10 laptop to my phone anymore also.
Try cleaning the port on the phone. It happened to me before. Switch off the phone, then push some tissue paper into the port with the help of a pin, you will be surprised how dirty the port is.
Same thing here with the stock cable, I can`t say anything on the dongle or adapter, I will update to Pie later to see if this solve this issue.

Yes! Cleaned port with tissue and pin, now charge cord works and it connects to laptop with USB.
Thanks!
Well Google has taken my phone along with all accessories and the box for service. Fingers crossed now.
