Hi everyone,
I'm currently running a very old version of the official CM10 ROM (by tbalden). As this version lacks support of Bluetooth Audio which I'm going to need from tomorrow on I would like to ask for some help deciding with which ROM I should go for now.
I would consider myself as a heavy user so battery life is very important to me. Back in the days when I was flashing nightlies stock/sense ROMs/Kernels lasted longer than CM10/Custom Kernels. Is this still the case?
If someone could explain to me what "Staging" builds are that would be fantastic.
I really don't care if its a sense ROM as I'm going to use GO Launcher Ex anyway but here are a few things I don't like to miss:
OTA updates like Cyandelta so I don't have to wipe the whole phone for some minor changes/bugfixes
Customizable Lockscreen (in terms of adding quick access buttons like camera, whatsapp, etc)
Customizable Status Bar Toggles (BT, WiFi, GPS, Torch, etc) I know this could be handled by some apps but I want the ROM to have these features
Being able to set max. CPU frequency
Not Sense Recent Apps Switcher
Please give me some Ideas which ROMs have these features and are battery friendly.
Thanks in advance!

ViperX for Sense roms and AOKP IceColdJelly for aosp-like roms. n3ocort3x's kernel or XM-Kernel by Xmister so choose which wone works the best for you. Xmister is an amazing kernel develolper and works really fast. n3o really friendly, always gives the best support and he does a lot of work with the IceColdJelly dev,

A hint on battery life?
From my experience, the ROM with the most battery life is OrDroid.
Sent from my Revolutionary HTC One X.
I would recommend you a BLADE rom it is a very light ROM so it doesn't consume much battery and everything is running smooth http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027029
Best ROM threads are not allowed on XDA. Each rom will act differently for each user. The best thing to do is to try the ROM's for yourself and see how you get on.

Hi everyone!
I'm looking for a ROM for my Arc S supporting basic apps and functions which phones are designed for. I mean apps like Contacts, Phone, Messaging, Camera, possibly stock Net Browser.
Currently I'm using Ultimate HD ROM 4.0 with normal RAM engine (other option during setup was gaming engine) and locked bootloader. Unfortunately, my phone suffers from huge lag during opening Messaging or Contacts. Also I often get FC when new SMS arrives or Xperia restarts without reason. Supposingly, there is a bit of my fault in that, cause my soft is a little messy and phone worked usually with "heavy" apps (games, YT, movies, etc.).
In Ultimate HD ROM, there is a solution for Xperia Home Screen which keep this program working in background and it's not redrawing desktop after, for egzample, sufing the Net. I wonder if the same mechanism can be applied for apps mentioned above? Do you know any ROM/mod that improves work of this programs? Or should I reinstall Ultimate HD with gaming RAM engine?
Thanks for replies.
For basic apps and functions go back to Gingerbread.
Try Gin2Jelly and you are a happy phone user.
All ROMs should support basic functions like phone calls and messaging. You should be fine sticking with stock ROM.

I agree with the above posts, and GB is the most suitable for what you say.
If you want to keep your current ROM, you can use the V6SuperCharger script to lock any application into memory like the launcher
Thx
Thanks for all replies. I reinstalled Ultimate HD and formated SD card. Now, it's really smooth and i feel satisfied with using apps. Maybe i will try V6SuperCharger script.
Hello guys. I know that there is no "best rom" and I should check them all but this time I can't do it. I want to make my friend's Wildfire S 2012 smoother and faster than it is on stock as much as possible and I won't be able to play with it a lot so I really need your help. I am looking for pretty stable & smooth & new & fast & clear & simple ROM. He would be using it for making calls, messages, photos and undemanding games like tetris. There is no need for USB/WIFI Tethering, ART, themes etc. I was thinking about [ROM][4.4.3][ViPER]WFSY11.0-WEEKLY[V3.0][OTA][FAST] and [CM10.1][V!PER]WFSY10.1[KK][OTA][1.5-KKEgg]. What do you guys think? Or maybe something older?
I would be grateful for seeing your answers.
Best regards and thanks for any help.
Can someone please tell me what rom is the best for performance..
I dont care about battery..i just want to make this device faster without lag..
Can you all suggest me what rom ,apps, mod, or trick to make this device run smoother without lag..
Just use the stock rom for the least amount of headche. This is a low end phone by todays standards and I only use it as a backup phone for testing. It overheats easily and the cpu will throttle. Some (many?) custom roms don't do a good job of thermal management and the phone will reboot or bootloop.
Top roms (all nougat builds), I personally use DOTS and I've been using it for months.
- AICP
- COLT OS
- DOTS ROM

Stock MIUI is very bad for battery life and sometimes lags as well.
What I normally do is freeze some of the problem built in apps manually using the paid version if Titanium backup to improve things.

I feel apps like greenify, lspeed, ssdboost won't really solve the issues properly with stock MIUI battery drain and create more spyware risks. All of those apps can access the internet and if you use 2FA apps or banking apps, those apps can read keystrokes and seed data (since the hardware backed encryption/keystore is not working properly for redmi1s) and send it off through the internet.

Im using miui9 stable right now...its feel faster and smoother than miui8 imo
But now Currently downloading 3 other rom, LinageOS14, ColtOS and DotOS..im gonna try using each of them..
ColtOS, Resurrection Remix, Mokee are based on Cynogenmod/Lineage so they are going to be similar and may all have the same bugs of LO.

I haven't used MIUI in a long time until recently but I found MIUI 8 to be acceptable after some tweaking. I uninstalled some spyware/bloatware - analytics, msa, mi* and the battery life was reasonably ok. MIUI 9 came out after I switched to LO.
Generally MIUI is going to be the most stable with the best performance for normal use but the battery life is poor before some tweaking. The cpu is slow and overheats easily in any case so there is only so much any rom can do.
i use AICP,n no problem until now..
HIi,
Read my post on DOT OS regarding ROM performance.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...cial-dotos-t3707240/post76388652#post76388652
I feel better now with lineageos microG + magisk v16. battery look better cause no google play service that full running in the background , and I can get some tweaks that I like in magisk moduls
"MIUI7" was the last time I used stock rom, and I don't want to back even MIUI9 (based kitkat)
still using XenonHD rom one week, and stable enough for daily use
Resurection remix and DOT OS are the best roms for redmi 1s
Hi Guys!
Ive just been off from xda for sometime now. Currently running the z2 plus and have gotten bored of the stock zui functionality and working. Also have been lazy to try out roms because of huge pain in the ass to unlock bootloader and lose all data. even copying data onto laptop always leads to loss of whatsapp media and chats.
i used my friend's oneplus 3t. Inspite of having the same chipset it is just blazing quick. dont get me wrong i know it has 6gb ram for multitasking and all. but what i am talking about is the fluidity of the OS. Scrolling is simply water be it in any app. On my device chrome jerks, whatsapp jerks, etc. the zui is not optimised(yeah that cliched word).. so please help me out on the following things.
I dont mind the android version, just need the following things:
1) which is the most fluid rom for our device. (i am ok with battery life taking a hit to get that)
2) which is the most balanced rom (fluidity, battery)
3) how can i flash a custom rom without losing any data. (contacts, whatsapp media and chats)
Thanks

If you are ok with Oreo and not latest security patch, try arrow Oreo with prototype kernel.. this combo has been designed for z2.. awesome battery back up with no hit on performance.. this has spectrum support as well..
Contact are backed up on Google so you will get them back.. WhatsApp chat can be back up on WhatsApp itself. Go to settings and chat and backup..
Media like pics can be backed up on Google photos, songs etc need to be backed up on otg or laptop.. u can use sms backup+ to save sms and call logs as well.. syncs with Google account so no issues at all.. try and you won't regret..
Arrow pie and bootleggers latest pie is also awesome..
Part of the "smoothness" of OnePlus 3T is Oxygen OS , so maybe you can go out of the way and flash Oxygen OS ports , both Oreo and pie are available but keep in mind that they are no where near perfect.
Some bugs like broken hal1 and hotspot are present but if they don't bother you ,try them.
Any suggestion for a "light" rom? like android one "light" or so..
