Hi, I am coming from a Sony Xperia Z5 device to get a new Samsung Galaxy and just can't decice between the S20 and S20+.
My main issue is with battery life. I prefer screens that aren't so big, I feel the S20+ has a too long screen, but if it has more advantages I guess I can get used to that size. So, does the S20+ battery really lasts more (much) than the S20?? There are other advantages?
I will buy no 5G, Exynos versions, since those are the only available here.
I upgraded to S20+ from LG G6, I don't regret it ever. You will appreciate the big screen from day 1, its just fantastic. Obviously S20+ has better battery than S20 (I would say around 1 hour more of screen on time on the plus)
Numbers wise, S20+ is about 15mm taller than Z5. Check this site so you can kinda imagine the size of S20+

Yes, I like gsmarena. According to them S20 has about 9h o video playback in 120Hz and S20+ has 13:30 video playback in 120Hz too. I think 4h more is kinda good.
My main fear is the screen size and the difficulty to reach buttons with one hand. But it is already hard to do that with the Z5, so i guess the 1,5cm more of size won't matter too much. However, while the phones sizes are only 1,5cm apart, the usable screen size are 6.7in in S20+ and 5.2in. So, I wonder how easy ot os to handle it with one hand.
I know it has a one handed mode, it works good?

If you are going Exynos, just get the Plus model. Exynos will suck another 1 hour of screen on time (comparison is on Youtube), so the Plus with a bigger battery will compensate that silly chipset. S20 actually has 6.2inch screen btw. I never use one hand mode, i'm fine with the size of the phone
Not sure if you are in the USA or not, but also keep in mind on top of battery life, having all three bands of the S20+ is a big difference in connectivity, and eventually, more battery efficiency.
I have owned both. I prefer Feb size of the S20 but appreciate the battery life of the S20 plus. Especially since I've been running Android 11 beta on S20 plus. I've been off the charger for 16 hours and it is 1125pm here with 4 hours screen on time and I still have 40% battery.

So, overall you think the plus is better and got to use it in the end?
@BigE, no, im not from Us. Don't know if that band thing applies.
@phamdang I was comparing to the Z5 screen which is 5.2in
Hi all
I am confused between OnePlus 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21+ (Exynos variant).
Please help me choose.
The S21 is costing me INR 2000 extra, but with the current offer running I am also getting a Samsung Active2 watch fro INR 990.
I would have chosen 9Pro, but I am concerned with the negative feedback about heating issues and camera quality not being up to the mark.
I would personally go against buying the s21+. While Exynos has come fairly far from its initial being, it is still no match for Snapdragon. Really if your only priorities include OneUI, slightly better overall cameras, and the existing ecosystem, there is no reason in buying the s21. Being a non-mainstream chip it would mean that updates can be sluggish, midway long-term support by Samsung, and not to forget how the chip is already plagued with inferior performance.
My wife has the S21 Exynos since launch day, I have the 9 Pro. Battery wise they're about the same. 9 Charges way quicker and come's with the charger.
I like the photos from the s21 a little bit more. But that's only when comparing them side to side. otherwise, it is just a good camera combo that takes good photos. (Just don't expect miracles because it says Hasselblad.
S21 has a flat screen which I really like. Tho the curve one the 9Pro is not that big.
The dealbreaker for Samsung is I just can't stand is OneUI....
So I'm really happy with my 9 Pro. Battery life is superb (coming from an OP3)
And I have no problems overheating. The phone only gets slightly warm when charging. (I don't play big games on it)
No heating issues here not even while charging. CPU-Z says my phone stays under 90° while charging. In my opinion the camera is excellent and I can't tell the difference between oneplus and s21. Battery life is good too I get 7 to 8 hours screen time so I'm happy with it.
Had same dilemma. I have chosen OP9 Pro and I am satisfied with it (especially I had exynos version of s21 being saled in my country). No overheating problems (only in diagnostic apps I am facing false positive). Battery life is ok (compared to my previous s10e on exynos it is amazing).
I see the camera is a step back from s10e, so if it is important to you you should pick Samsung.
I can't say about the S21+ but I had to do about the same choice like OP9Pro vs S21 Ultra Exynos and the fight could have been much harder if the S21 Ultra had the S888 in EU
I've had 3 generations of OnePlus for easy Unlocking, XDA & Developer support, etc. Definitely my preference. I really don't know much about the S20+
Hello everyone. I wanna buy S21 Ultra but its expensive at the moment, so after researching I thought why not go for the s20 ultra instead because its cheaper. It will still get updates for few years. I am a basic user, dont play games at all, but do care about display and camera. I recently used s10 and pixel 4 xl and i was blown away by the s10 display compared to pixel 4 xl. I want a great camera phone as well. But before pulling the trigger, I have few questions and would appreciate if they r answered satisfactorily;
1. Is s20 ultra (Snapdragon) worth it in 2021 over s21 ultra if you take into account the prices?
2. Is the S20 ultra way behind s21 ultra in the camera department?
Shall be grateful for the feedback.

The s20 ultra has been great for me in everything but camara. Not that its terrible but definetly not as good as it should be I believe there is a flaw with some camara hardware they used so it can never be fixed fully it some kind of light sensor they used although it has gotten a little better with software updates. The main issue I have is it is always trying to focus besides that it takes good photos you seee it more when your trying to take video. But as far as screen, memory, updates sd card slot I really do love this phone. I will definetly be happy when I finally upgrade and dont have these issues with the camara but I'm in no rush and for the s20 ultra being so cheap now I would say its worth it in 2021 unless you kind find a good deal on a s21.
Absolutely worth it. The camera focusing problem is annoying but if you're taking pictures it can easily be worked around by switching to pro mode and manual focus.
I love it and i think the camera is great, no foxusing problems here. Did you end up getting it??
I bought mine in excellent condition on ebay for $550 about 2 months ago. I honestly absolutely love thy phone. The only thing the s21 really has as advantages is the camera, variable refresh rate, and 120hz at full resolution and the latter two can be accomplished with the s20ultra with apps on this forum. Advantages of the s20 ultra are 45 watt quick charging and the SD card slot. The focusing is only on the main lens as far I've seen and that too is minimized when using 3rd party camera apps.
Thoughts on the S20 Plus? It doesn't have the camera focus issue from reviews research I've read! I will be coming from a dead Galaxy S5 now. I'm on Verizon still but may switch carriers Idk yet.
I'm very happy with the vzw s20+ I picked up recently off ebay. Key is finding one with bit 1 firmware, if you want to bootloader unlock /root.
Solid performance, and having microSD support is a huge plus for me.
I love everything about my S20 Ultra (G988U - Snapdragon), except for 2 things: the camera and presence of only one SIM (I thought there would be one physical and one e-SIM slot, appeared to be only one physical). Apart from focusing issue mentioned above, the video quality in general and especially in low light conditions is below par (my previous phone S8 was doing better) and definitely worse than something you expect from a phone which costed me USD 1200.
The camera focusing is a real PITA. I pre-ordered mine for around 1,500 and it served me for a little over a year - just enough for the warranty to expire and few weeks back it just stopped charging. TBH, I was a fanboy of Samsung, but haven't had a single edition without "known issues" - the batteries fiasco of S7/Note 7, the screen issues on S9, the camera on S20+ .... but this 1500 phone nailed it for me ... not buying Samsung any more.
The charging issues on S20 are so common, that if you'll Google it - you'll find tons of references and "solutions" for this Samsung brain fungus :
- Galaxy won't charge
-Samsung Galaxy Not Charging? Here's The Fix! [All Models]
What's really annoying is how Samsung plays dumb on this and other issues (except the batteries recall fiasco). I took the phone to the authorized service center and it was obvious that they were well aware of the charging issues. The dude quickly booted the phone into recovery mode and then the phone came up. It's just won't hold the charge at all and turns off in a minute. I left the phone in the repair center and they called me back in two hours. Samsung tech could not tell me what's wrong with it (?!!) and offered a mobo swap for a modest ... $500.
And here are other possible solutions :
1) charging port or wireless sensor
2) assembly connector
I'd say - stay clear of Samsung, unless you are willing to play the lottery with these dishonest or incompetent guys.
I changed from s20 ultra to s21 plus now as the ultra screen suddenly went black and does not come up, yet to take it to a service center...
But samsung is not resolving all issues on time to retain its customer base ... Most of the iphone terms are 4-5 years though ... Lets see if the s21 plus lasts long
As per the title! Lost my phone a couple of days ago, had a mate 20x 5g
Back on my old mi max 3 now but should I reorder or is there anything else around?
Needs to be the same size or bigger with 5g dual Sim
I'm not asking for much right
Current UK used price with 2 year warranty is around 300 GBP
There is nothing the same size or bigger that I can find and definitely not 5G/Dual Sim. Best bet is to just buy another one. With manufacturers trying (maybe in vain) to push foldable phones it might be a while before we see another 7" standard phone.

If I were you I'd get the note 20 ultra. Its fast, has a big screen and has better resolution and specs than the 20x.
The 20x is a laggard now. There hasnt been any sec updates since 2020 and will never have one again.
The gravy train stopped running dude. Trust me, you dont want to get a mate 20x going forward into 2022

I agree, but I am looking at a new phone as well and the price difference between the 18 month old Note20 Ultra and the brand new S22 Ultra is relatively small second hand, so I am leaning more towards the S22 Ultra.
It's obviously a lot more money than the Mate 20 X but technology has moved on and the Mate 20 X is now 3.5 years old.
In the Netherlands I can get a new S22 Ultra for €850, a used Note20 Ultra for €650 and a used Mate 20 x or Mate 20 x 5G will still cost me €350 to €400.
There is nothing like this on the market, trust me I've looked. I just got one. It's a rare phone and won't work on CDMA providers. There is no phone of this size, it's the only one with this wide of a screen. The other ones are all the same width, just taller, which is useless. I need it wider for reading, that's the whole point of a bigger display. But all the big phones have the same width as the smaller ones.
I got rid of the Note 20 because it was the same size as my V30, just taller and heavier. Useless for me. Also, this doesn't support MicroSD. I had to get the phone to be sure. It only supports NM cards, which is the same size as a sim card, and it's only available up to 256GB, so you can't get more than 512GB on this device including an NM card, if you have a 256GB internal.
As of now, nothing that I want exists on the market.
xxxxxxx This is not a slow phone. Other phones are faster, but the whole point of this phone is the form factor, and this is still one of the fastest phones on the market.

The Honor x30 Max has a 7.09" screen, which is smaller than the 7.2" screen of the Mate 20 X. The aspect ratio of the Honor x30 Max is 19:9. The Mate 20 X has a 18.7:9 aspect ratio.
Not only are you wrong about your actual statements, but also the Honor x30 Max CANNOT BE ROOTED, PERIOD (mandatory for me). It does NOT have OLED (a mandatory requirement for me). It has no expandable storage (also a requirement). Not only that, but it has mandatory 5G (which I am avoiding for my life).
Smaller, LCD (non-OLED) display. Lower-end phone. Even uses a Mediatek CPU (reserved for lower-end phones)! The Mate 20 X is a huge upgrade over the newer phone.
The new phone is a downgrade on every level - screen, quality, performance, features, efficiency.
HiSilicon Kirin 980 vs MediaTek MT6877 Dimensity 900 5G

GFLOPS performance102.1 GFLOPS93 GFLOPS(Multi-core / watt performance)
Performance / watt ratio1,637 pts / W827 pts / W
Simply put, there is NOTHING like the Mate 20 X with this size or form factor, especially not with OLED, on the market, nothing even comes close. You'll have to get a smaller, crappier phone, or sacrifice the form factor and quality and features to get a faster phone but not with a screen like this.
It's not a perfect phone, but it beats almost every phone in 2022, and competes in line with flagships. Desired features it lacks are microsd (it has nm card), 2K/4K, and high refresh rate. Also being able to unlock the bootloader on the newest OS. Other than that, there is nothing that comes close to this phone considering the OLED screen on this.

Here are the FACTS about the x30 max compared to the mate 20 x. The following is from gsmarena.com. xxxxx

So as I said before, the x30 max is a +7 inch phone which is comparable to the mate 20x. Resolution and ppi between the 2 phones are generally the same as noted. The size again is basically the same. There exists about 4 phones that I know that are +7 inches.
The 30x max may not be the exact copy of the mate 20 x but it holds its own with a huge +7 inch screen which most phones lack. One difference between the 2 is that the x30 max has 64 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), PDAF while the mate 20 x has the 40 MP, f/1.8, 27mm (wide), 1/1.7", PDAF.

How can you get s22 ultra for that price? Its 1000€+ in EU
I owned the mate 20X for more than 2 years. It’s simply the best phone I have had. Recently, I saw some phones that have 120hz. This feature is a must in any phone right now for me, so I searched all the markets with a phone that has this feature with a width of at least 80mm, but I couldn’t find any except few phones like the Honor X30 Max, but the hardware in that phone is not good. The options I was left with were either foldable phones, Iphone 13 pro max, which I don’t like, so I went with S22 Ultra.
The S22 Ultra is amazing. The 120hz is a must now for me. The camera is simply amazing compared to the Mate 20x. Speed is also noticeable, but not to the point that would push me to replace the mate.
Let’s come to the most important thing we are all talking about here which is the screen. The S22 ultra has better colors. The better resolution is noticeable for me too. However, the size is a huge no for me, and I don’t like the curve display. I have both devices next to each other now, but I still prefer the media experience on my mate20x. I am not disappointed with my s22 Ultra, but I still think the Mate is a better phone for media, writing and reading which is more important for me that the camera for example.
There might be a coming phone that may be a good alternative for the mate, but it is still a rumor: Vivo X Note

Second hand sites. These new Samsung phones are frequently part of a contract renewal and then sold on for cash.
BTW I got a Z Fold3. The S22 Ultra was just too boring for me.
I have a note 20 ultra (6.9" screen) I am selling it and moving to a mate 20x I miss mine that much.
The curved screens are trash in my opinion.
What title says... I'm thinking about a trade in but I'm not convinced yet. I mean I love this phone and the concept of it, but the biggest drawback that annoys me is it's form factor when folded, like having a brick.
Discuss...
I can't trade in my fold 4 for at samsung. It's not listed here.
Im keeping my fold4 and s22u. S23u isn't an upgrade for me and waste of money even with trade in
Not for me, I am totally convinced by the Fold 4 form-factor and I don't wanna go back.
If they upgrade the crease and the camera set up I will look for Z Fold 5, but candybar form factor are over for me.
$750 for Fold4 is a slap in the face! $500 even worse for S22 Ultra.
Apple cut trade in value too.
A form of shrinkflation, I suppose.
But it sucks.
Aside from a slightly faster chip and even more gimmicky camera (200MP, c'mon!), it's the same damn phone! Save your money.
Definitely not.
before the fold 4, i was using a note 9 and a tablet as my daily drivers. i was holding off changing my phone until something really different came. i skipped on the first 3 folds and finally took the fold 4 as it met my requirements. with that, my perspective changed and i don't really see myself going back to a slab phone. i've no issues with the thickness or the weight. i'm not even bothered one bit with the crease. if anything, i'll upgrade to a fold 5 if the said rumors turn out to be true about it having a silo for the spen. if the fold 5 just comes out with say new cameras, it's a skip for me.

I think its a matter of price structure as well.
Fold 4 was launched at a $1800 price tag compared to S23U at $1200... when you take into account the launch prices, then obviously it doesn't make much sense for Samsung to offer you 1k for your Fold 4 and have you purchase S23U at $200.
And at this point, every smartphone upgrade will be minor improvements due to its reached nearly the ceiling of how much it can be tweaked.
Still waiting for 16MP f1.2 camera! ;-)
The S23 Ultra is tempting to me for two reasons. 1) you'll be able to buy a case for it that has a built in battery - something I loved about all my Note phones and 2) that 200mp camera. Not enough to make me switch though.
I'm getting the S23 Ultra but keeping the Fold 4 too.

I definitely had the option to trade in my Fold 4, only offered $800 for it but I don't use it so i decided to switch them out. I also have a pixel 7 pro....it was just too buggy for me and didn't have some features that I miss off my S22.

It's listed, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom
It was there this afternoon for a while but now it's gone. 440 euro's is not enough. Sell my fold seperatly. Or will wait.
Wait for Fold 5.
It will have better CPU and (of course!) it folds.
Also gone is the (multiple) trade in offer. I got rid of old ipad air 2s and they gave me $150 for one!
I'm actually considering ordering the S23 Ultra not because i don't like my Fold 4 it's great & it be a shame to let it go, it's just I recently passed my motorbike test & I haven't found anything suitable for the Fold 4 to fit to the handle bars, while keeping it completely protected & waterproof while still being useable with gloves.
With the S23 Ultra or any other candy bar phone for that matter there are tons of mounting options for motorbikes, plus being ip68 I can leave the phone to the elements with a screen protector on & have no ill effects other than if i drop the bike.
I have considered buying a cheap Chinese phone just for the motorbike , but having 2 sims or swapping my sim card every time i use the bike will leave people confused with having 2 numbers, or become a chore keep swapping sim card between phones every time i want to use my bike.
I think S23 line is last with snap for international version so yes worth it. Trade for f4 not for me.
I traded mine in. I only paid $550 or so for the fold 4, watch 5 44mm, spen and case. So $750 trade in is a win.
Love my fold, but I have a problem. LOL Cant pass up new tech...
For me, I think I'm sending my Fold 4 back and going for the S23 simply because of the cameras. It's a really tough decision because I utterly love the Fold 4. But as an amateur photographer, I'm struggling with the quality of the Fold 4's cameras. Even with Gcam, it's not much better. Stock main camera is very similar to Note 9.
