Install OS problem[S9(Exyons)(SM-G960F)] - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

I had installed a new os in my S9. However, as soon as I switch it on, it will directly get into bootloader and display downloading. But I can enter the twrp by press home, volume up, and Bixby.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

If you can back into twrp you can try and re-flash your custom os or else flash stock firmware using Odin.

Are you using the right firmware for your device ( SM-G960F )
Are you using stock or custom Rom's
How are you trying to install the firmware.
when your in download mode press (volume down/power ) as soon as your screen goes blank release the buttons then press together power/volume down/bixby buttons. It will take your into download mode again then press volume up button it should show you more information about your phone. If you can take a screen shot of it and post.
Basically need more information on what you have tried to do.

@UdiFlpb
I just recently flashed the RUU to be expecting the 4.3 OTA soon and I wasn't able to grab any OTA updates. You can do it manually. I linked where to download the .15 firmware below.
But download it. place on your internal storage and you'll be able to flash it in the stock recovery and update that way.

haha I'll try to make it simple.
Download the file here to your phone. http://d-h.st/QMZ
Go into Settings, Power, and make sure Fast boot at bottom in unchecked.
Turn off phone
Turn on phone while holding down the volume down button. This is called your HBOOT. You will navigate using your volume keys and select button your power button.
Navigate to recovery and press the power button
Wait a few seconds, Next hold the power button with the volume up button for 2 seconds. If nothing still appears, then just press the power button. then you'll get some options on the screen.
Navigate and select apply from phone storage. Navigate to where you downloaded the file above to and press power button. It will be under the 0 folder.
After it flashes. Select reboot system and your phone will restart about 2 times.
The instructions above are for if you are wanting to update to the latest firmware. When the next firmware comes out. Follow the exact same instructions above but with the new firmware zip.
@Flyhalf205
Will it erase something ? And will I find the next software update ? And do I need root or unlock bootloader for this ?

You don't press it long. Just a quick press.. Try just selecting the power button and see if the menu appears. I forget the key combination to this phone.

[Q] Need Help - SM T705 stuck on start up screen.

Greetings XDA Developers,
Newbie here. I own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S (SM T705). I was able to root it a few weeks ago and I decided to install a custom recovery (TWRP) using an app from the Playstore named "TWRP Manager". I didn't hesitate to do so using this method because I was able to install TWRP on my GT I9300 successfully from the past using this app. However, after being prompted by the app that the recovery was successfully installed and needs to reboot the device, my tab was stuck on start up screen ( See attached photo ). I tried long pressing the power button but nothing happened. I waited until the device ran out of battery and when it did, I plugged in the charger and I'm back at the same screen. After google-ing some possible solutions, I tried to boot it into recovery but was unsuccessful, however, I was able to boot into download mode.
I'd like to ask for the help of some "experienced" users in this forum on how to solve this problem. And if possible, I'm hoping that flashing a stock recovery using Odin wouldn't be my last resort.
Thank you in advance.

Your going to need some fast hands for this one! I've ran into this lots of times when testing kernels and such. Any force reboot by holding Power Button+ Home Button + BOTH Volume buttons all at the same time. Press and hold that combo until the screen goes black. Then once the screen goes black quickly press and hold Power Button+ Home Button + Volume down buttons all at the same time. You should no enter into download mode. You said that you drained the battery so I would suggest charging it in download mode for 30 minutes or so then flash TWRP with Odin.
Your going to need to flash stock recovery or TWRP with Odin to override the boot and get it working
The TWRP app doesn't always work in which is why I use Odin.

As a side note for future reference, hard reset is simply hold POWER + VOL DOWN.
As said all you need do is boot to download mode and flash recovery.
If you're on lollipop you may need to immediately boot into recovery after flashing to make it stick.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. But how exactly do I "immediately boot into recovery after flashing to make it stick." Since after I flash recovery via odin, it would obviously automatically reboot my device? sorry for the dumb question.

You either be quick and hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP as soon as it reboots or you uncheck auto reboot in Odin then restart manually.

Can't boot into Recovery?! [SOLVED]

Right out of the RetailBox (with stockRom) I couldn't reboot into recovery using the "VolumeUp+Home+PowerButton" step...
Even now after installing a custom rom and twrp recovery I can't do the hardbutton action ("VolumeUp+Home+PowerButton") to get into the "recovery"
so whats the hiccup here? someone plz

I just flashed a root... and then downloaded twrp through playstore and always rebooted with Newstart chosing reboot into recovery.... so it was fine till now..
now though, after installing IronRom .zip through twrp, it won't reboot anymore, it is stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy Tab S powered by android" starting screen.
Now I want to simply to the hardbutton reboot into recovery step, since i cant access it otherwise... but it doesn't react.
so whats the hiccup here?

I would also like to know this, I recently installed the PAC-MAN (unofficial) rom and things went weird. I tried to flash official Samsung ROM through Odin, things went well but got stuck in Samsung booting logo (not the one that says powered by Samsung). The logo that comes after the Samsung jingle.

So there is no way to get the HardButton way to work?
(My customRom already has multiple shutdown and restart option... thats how i've been operating.)
But once one is stuck somewhere and can't get to the system level (like boot loop or whatnot) it would be great to enter the recovery anyway... thx

You can enter recovery any time you want, you just need to do it right.
Hold POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN until the screen goes blank then immediately change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons until recovery boots.

Holy Damn... thanks a lot!!!! that was really bugging me. I never found anything apart from just holding home+power+volumeup
I just tried this after trying other button combinations found on the web to try to get it to hard reset but nothing happens with my Tab S...it still stays stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S startup screen. Any suggestions as to why that is?

Just signed in to say thanks for this, but for some reason I had to do it slightly differently. I was on stock 5.0.2 and trying to boot into recovery (Power+Volume UP+Home would start Samsung splash screens and then go black without ever booting into Recovery) so my solution was:
Shutdown Tab S, then hold down Power+Volume DOWN+Home (as though to get into Download mode) and then immediately after pressing that initially, I pressed Volume UP while still holding Power+Home.
Problem solved.

Someone please help me! I'm using a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T800, stock Lollipop 5.0.2 and I used the combined TWRP & CF-Auto_root package on XDA to root it. Is all hope lost?

Reinstall the firmware via ODIN
My j3 emerge says error..invalid boot loop image header can't get fed download mode help please
When and how was this method introduced?
It worked, so many thanks.
Just a bit convoluted... issh...
Is it a twrp thing? Almost a bit like a GitarChord
very thanksful it worked though

Have I just bricked my faithful A70?

So I tried to install TWRP and followed the steps, used ODIN v3.14, it tried to upload something but failed with an error.
Now the phone has gone into a perpetual restart cycle:
1) Reboot (by itself or Vol Down + Power)
2) Blank screen with: "Galaxy A70 - Secured by Knox - Powered by Android"
3) Screen with: "This phone's bootloader is unlocked and its software integrity... - Press power key to continue"
4) Blank screen with: "Galaxy A70 - Secured by Knox - Powered by Android"
5) Blank screen with: "SAMSUNG" for a very long time
6) eventually back to step 1
****************
Is there a way to get back this phone?
I was flashed twrp normally and nothing happened for me. Did you pressed vol up+power ASAP after flash successful ? If not, go to download mode and flash again, then press vol up+power immediately.
I never managed to flash TWRP, ODIN displayed an error when I tried.
1. Your using the wrong version of odin. You need 3.13.3
2. Sounds like your not key comboing fast enough?
3. You can not hard brick the A70. If its in a boot loop, plug into pc and Continue to hold vol up and down till it boots to download mode. Flash latest stock version then reboot.

OK, I am now in the "Downloading..." screen and the phone is waiting.

Get frija from the link in my guide under tools, install it on your pc, then use it to download your latest stock firmware. Make sure you have odin 3.13.3 as well
In frija, enter the model number and the region code of the A70
In my case it would be SM-A705MN/ TTT
Do NOT flash other models, it must be for your Model. Also, dont flash csc_home in this instance, use csc. When loading the AP file, it will take a little bit to load in and you may see odin has stopped working, ignore that and it will eventually load, make sure auto reboot is unchecked everytime you use odin. The first step in my guide says to download and flash latest stock firmware. Anytime your going to do modifications to a device, make sure to have the latest stock firmware first.
Many thanks for suggestions.
I managed to download the stock firmware from https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a70/firmware/SM-A705FN/BTU/#SM-A705FN and have uploaded it using ODIN 3.14 The phone has now started, like new / factory reset.
I am now setting it up (Samsung firmware) just to make sure I have got my phone back.
After I will try to zap and upload another ROM.

In download mode, Android 11, to exit, it litterly tells you on the screen to hold vol down and power to reboot. Vol up and power does nothing in this state. To get to twrp from download mode, hold vol down and power till screen goes blank and then press and hold vol up. This will boot to twrp. Other ways to boot to twrp is power off device, plug into pc, wait for it to charge, then hild vol up and power till it boots or if magisk is installed, use magisk reboot options.
Dude, your key combos and information is incorrect. You can not reboot to twrp from download mode by holding vol up and power.
Samsung changed the keymap combination to boot into recovery on 3.1, so to boot into recovery stock or whatever it is, just follow the steps:
Connect your cellphone to the USB port.
Press on Volume UP during boot.
Samsung does weird things

My key combo is true, actually the wrong one is yours This is the valid way also on the latest bootloader but like haky86 said, on latest bootloader Samsung wants you to plug USB cable to do this.
So we are agreed, there is no way to get to TWRP unless you are connected to USB? For example, on my one old phone, I used to keep TWRP backups on the SD card, and I could restore anywhere, I did not need to be near the PC with a USB cable.

there's a fix in the telegram group, I don't remember which was because I left all cringy groups.

Upgrading LOS from 18.1 to 19

Step 5 of the upgrade instuctions say that if you want install add-ons, you need to click Advanced then Reboot to Recovery. However, my phone, as mentioned in the instructions can happen, goes to a black screen. So how can I install Gapps after side-loading LOS?
Has anyone successfully carried out the upgrade?
Try this:
Connect your phone to a charger or pc....(make sure its charging)....then press and hold (vol up + power button)...until android one logo shows up, as soon as the logo shows up just leave the power button but still holding the volume up button until it enters lineage os recovery menu. Then flash your gapps...and then factory reset,....then reboot system. It works.....good luck

My problem was not that I didn't know what to do. The problem is that on my phone, I just get a blank screen when I boot to recovery. The recovery still works, but it is hard to use if you can't see what you are doing. However, as I have another phone where I can see the recovery, I was able to use that as a guide.
Ok

Hello! I have the exact same issue! Is there any known fix yet and can I contribute somehow?
I haven't found a solution, but some workarounds are given here: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/4170

The TWRP workaround did not work for me, but I awas able to install it blindly.
Is there any way to run the LOS Recovery on a windows PC in VirtualBox or something? Then I could make some screenshots of the Recovery Menu so everyone with the same issue can at least do it blindly in theory...
