Galaxy S10 + WITH Android 11 is a TRASH! ****! - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Galaxy S10 + Android 11 is a TRASH! ****!
Attention, let our voices be heard by samsung!
I Downgraded from the Latest Version of Android 11 to Android 10 without doing the factory reset, only the reset via odin CSC file, which should on android 10 startup, request my data to unlock the phone, and it was not done, appeared the message that the phone was reset without authorization but allowed to skip and continue using normal!
That would be a full plate for thieves who steal cell phones, samsung has zeroed our security, even with bootloader blocked and everything. (Mine is as original) Warranty 0x0.
Literally, this Android 11 was made with the ass. besides several errors already presented.
Anyone who wants to can downgrade (It has to be binary 9 on Android 10, the latest version of it, because depending on the binary it is not possible to downgrade, Android 11 has binary 9 also.)
Thank you, I just came to present my inquiry.

No it's not trash

Both 10 and 11 have the lame Apple like, cpu cycle wasting, scope storage.
Pie does not and is more functional with 3rd party apps.
Go Apple, go broke
The Storage Access Framework is the only way for apps to work with all your files in Android Q. And it's terrible.
The Scoped Storage changes in Android Q are a headache to deal with, because the Storage Access Framework has a few flaws right now.

did you ever try to downgrade from 11 to 10 and use bootloader from 11 ?
as i know you cannot downgrade the bootloader, but if i remember someone can success downgrade from 11 to 10 and with normal boot with bootloader from android 11.

Android 11 is awesome, in my opinion. My Galaxy s10 is just fine with one ui 3.1.

My S10+ sometimes works very hot even if in idle with screen off. This happens only after ONE UI 3 update

People get spoiled over time.

After android 11 update.S10+ becomes too hotter on exynos version

You have a SD card slot, right?
Use it as a data drive, all critical data goes there, only the apps and temporary folder go on the internal memory.
Then redundantly backup the SD card to at least 2 hdds that are physically and electronically isolated from each other and the PC.
Use a V30 rated card, .5tb about $70, 1tb are under $200.

Good. Don't use power management. Deal with each excessive battery consuming apk on a case by case basis.
Eyeball any startup apk closely especially 3rd party ones. Does it really need to run?
Weed out ones you don't need or can't tone down like FB, WhatsApp, many of the Goggle junk and cloud apks.

On my Note 10+ all power management does is cause erratic behavior and everitably use more battery. I doubt it's been fixed, but who knows as each device and OS is different.
With a 4300 mAh battery these are my typical power stats below. At night with tap on AOD mode I'm seeing >.5%@hr battery consumption with phone and internet active, not in airplane mode.
I'm using Package Disabler, Karma Firewall and it's heavily optimized. It's a stock AT&T variant still running on Pie.

Any of you gentleman have a idea how to dwngrade s10 on Official A12 Binary G to LineageOS 19 official ? On Binary E it was still possible to go back to 11 , but many did not and are automatic upgraded to higher Binaries . and want to get rid of official now , anyone?

[Q] Need Suggestion whether to factory reset or software reset

I have the retail Verizon Note 4 and recently it's been hesitating. I have all the apps that I want turned off . I use Greenify , which works and helps a lot. My battery life is insane good. Without a charge, during the day, I'm at 60% at 8 pm from a 7 am unplug.
But I notice that phone is sluggish between apps or using Chrome or the stock browser. I'm a clean freak as far as tempos files and junk plus I restart at least once a day.
Plus one odd items is that I get Windows errors copying and pasting pictures from the phone (SD or Internal storage) to the computer. I've owned an S3 & S4 and never had an issue copying anything.
I talked to Samsung and they suggested not a factory reset but a software reset. They said Verizon could do it at the store. Now my question is , is there a file out there for the Verizon Note 4 that I can "Odin"? Or should I try to get a new one from Verizon
Thanks

For the pictures, I have experienced an issue (not sure if we have the same problem) and I believe it is due to the either the file extension not existing or not being copied over. You can fix that by simply changing it to .jpg (or whatever extension it uses).
As for the lagging and what not: I experience this as well every now and then but cannot explain what the issue is. Some have suggested and confirmed that one or more of their cores were faulty. I do not know how to check/determine the functionality of my cores (or whatever) so I cannot help you here; however, other users have claimed factory resetting their phones (at least once after unboxing) improved the speed/functionality of their phones.
In my opinion, it could not hurt to do a factory reset if you have all your files backed up. If that does not fix it, well, two options: 1) replacement 2) no replacement
good luck :good:

6.0 Makes N7 Feel Like a New Device!

Am I alone on this thought? I was really thinking about selling this tablet a month ago and decided to wait for the update, because I knew how terrible Lollipop was/is. I really am glad I waited, this tablet feels like a brand new device! No lag, approximately 650MB being used on average!, battery life is amazing, WiFi connection doesn't drop anymore, so far I can't find a flaw! If I did, there are so many pros to this update it couldn't take away the happiness I feel about what is better!
What do you think? Am I alone on this thought?

I think it's great too. Much more polished. The only problem is that I can't access my microsd using user apps that don't require root.
Really? I thought that was one of the major changes to 6.0? Very strange... I don't use an external SD though, but still, strange nonetheless. I wonder how the Moto X Pure will do hearing this, considering that's a big selling factor for it.

KK for performance, LP or MM for a low gaming performing device and a higher Android number in Abour Tab

Micro SD is accessible via system app. Once you insert your portable storage, go to Settings/Storage & USB and there you will see your portable storage drive. Click on it and you will be able to access your files. No problem watching movies stored on my micro SD. :good:
Unfortunately wifi option doesn't work properly and you can quickly drain the battery if you don't turn off wifi when you haven't access. Keep wifi on during sleep option is broken.

The catch is you can't access your files if you're not using a system app or a user app with root access. Since most multimedia apps don't actively ask root permission, they won't have rights to access the microsd folder created under "/mnt/media_rw". You can't change the permissions to the microsd folder either. Perhaps if you set up your microsd as "internal storage" (see adoptable storage feature) instead of "portable storage" all multimedia apps can access it (since these apps have permission for it, of course), but Android M didn't implement that feature yet, at least as far as Flo is concerned.
Luckly Chainfire's Stickmount app uses its root rights to mount the microsd inside the internal storage (under sdcard), where all apps have access.
I was quite shocked to find out that a feature like adoptable storage, which has been announced by the media as Google finally playing along fairly with external storage, seems to be actually quite the opposite.
in this light YES it feels like a "new" device ... coming directly from a backyard in china with cloned firmware not belonging to this hw ,-)
would be interesting what TO understands as "battery life is amazing" when standby lasts max 2days.
Having to en-/disable WiFi everytime I want to use my tab is anything but amazing.
To add another one to the list: access from PC via USB doesn't work either.
One has to enable developer settings to switch USB to MTM allthough it is allready selected, charge only seems to be default with no possibility to change for standard users.
This seems to be the most untested and buginfested "upgrade" I encountered in my Android history.
I doubt even M$ could do worse ...

I have that usb problem too thats some bull****.
Battery life is pretty damn good I got over seven hours screen on time over 3 days with not light usage (no games). I don't have any wifi problems but even a bad signal shouldn't drain it since Doze should shut it down so I'm not sure what would be draining your battery. I lose 1-2% overnight.
My biggest problem with 6.0 is Doze. Turns off everything for good standby time, works great for that but now I don't get lots of notifications like email or calendar when it's dozing and excluding them from battery "optimization" does not work. They gotta fix that ****.
looks like I'm not alone with WiFi battery drain.
Maybe it is related to the LTE version?
Today I lost 20% overnight ... on a freshly flashed system w/o any installed apps, not even google account.
Just WiFi credentials and set keep WiFi on to never ...
Good time to test the CM12.1 ....
Edit: somehow 6.0 fails to recognize my 16GB Lexar 3.0 USB-drive. It says it's defective and offers to format but fails with a runtime error. The same USB-drive works w/o problem on my lenovo.
Has anyone have issues downloading files using Chrome? I use CF Lumen, and Chrome prompted me to disable that, which I did. Tapping links for downloads has no effect; I tried multiple sites to be sure. Weird!
[EDIT] Delete please - I posted my question in the Lumen thread.
hmmm, mysterious.
yesterday I left it as is at my office and it lost only 5% in 16 hours ... allthough WiFi was allways on according to batt graph
Is this WiFi behavior normal for marshmallow? I don't think so... Any solution for this?
Unlocked bootloader and rooted
Hi,
at least yours doesn't lie to you. Mine pretends to have not been using wifi ... but if I shut it off, I can see the difference.
It is interesting that the periods where wifi is shown as off were situations where no wifi was available or couldn't connect.
Due to the graph and stats, wifi was on but didn't consume (allmost) any energy. But if I totally disable Wifi I can see the difference (battery life prediction: 15 days)!
If I sum up all consumption infos I get 258mAh used in about 9.5h. 258mAh are approx 5.9% of the battery (not 19%) and recalculated the predicted life should be approx. 16 times 9.5h ... so something is very flawed in this region.
Mine is exceptional, like 1-2% overnight battery usage. My only observation is when I set the tablet down and use it the touchscreen rarely registers a touch. When it is held in my hands and I use my thumbs it works fine.... It has a rubber tpu style case stretched over it, doesn't make a difference. It also has a tempered glass screen protector. Is there a way to turn up touch sensitivity? I know some Samsung builds actually had that option.

What's the best process for me to update from Android 9 to 11

It's rooted with Magisk 23, and OTA 10 is downloaded and waiting for a reboot.
My phone could use a full wipe at this point so it's probably ok if I start fresh. I'm just not sure what the recommended process is anymore, since updating through Magisk isn't available.
Meh, I would leave it on Pie if it's running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... don't ruin a good thing.

I'm running Pie on my Note 10+. Even on a load over 1 year old it's still fast and stable.
Pie has no Apple lame scope storage and has overlay support. Trusted apks aren't restricted as much as in 10.
Security simply isn't an issue unless you do something stupid.
Do a factory reset and be happy. Sluggish behavior is likely some apks misbehaving if you experience after the reload.
Lol, it took me a while to optimize my stock variant but it was worth it... I refuse to update it.
It runs too damn good.
much better to buy latest phone...iam tried that things like unlocking, rooting, many custom roms flashing on my old xperia z5 premium but no use.so many bugs found in customs rom.every phones working with effectively on original software...

No. It's not like this phone doesn't see some wicked sites either.
Wifi is always disable and bt unless in use.
Karma Firewall is running and Brave is the primary browser.
I'm wicked careful with all downloads and 3rd party apps.
I successfully removed one trojan preloader and a malware jpeg, those were over a year ago. Neither required a factory reset. Regardless I'm ready to do a full reload at any time with near zero data loss. The phone's data drive, a SD card is redundantly backed up by 2+ hdds and a .5tb flash stick.
I do only occasional light maintenance on this load. Cleanest OS load I've ever used.

Don't use knox... and I don't trust Google.
Since I'm running Pie the phone is protected from the worst rootkits that require a reflash to purge.
For me even a rootkit would be only a slight inconvenience at this point resulting in a reload that day.

I've been hesitant to wipe, mainly because I don't even know what's on it at this point and have never had any issues, so no clue on how/what I should even be worried about backing up at this point.

Androids rarely crash and burn but it will happen.
All data that you consider irreplaceable needs to be fully backed up.
All your contacts, pictures, vids, music.
Individual 3rd party apps that allow their settings to be backup like Poweramp.
All passwords.
All text messages important.
Icon packs, themes, installable copies of all your apps and updates.
Imagine starting from scratch and what is needed to rebuild your phone.
Data loss is preventable but not after the fact.

Question Quick Switch Adapter

Can anyone tell me details of what can be transferred from an old phone to a new P6P using the provided quick switch adapter? Can it transfer all apps and their data or only the ones with Google backup capability?
Thanks in advance!
The "ordinary" transfer won't restore your app settings, like your passwords/logins/in-app data.
Google One Backup is supposed to do that, even though it never worked for me. In the end I had to use swiftbackup whilst having root to have a decent backup/transfer experience.
--
There is some sort of auto-login system that some apps support, so Google logs you in automatically into the app once you first open them after transfering all your stuff, but that has nothing to do with the transfer/backup. Sadly, only very few apps support that.

Been into android since the T-Mobile G1 days and I'm a firm believer in setting up a new phone from scratch. Did my wifes from her OnePlus 7 Pro and the screen would freeze every 4-6 hors. Did a FDR and it's been running great for the last 3 days. Your always going to get bits and pieces from the last OS that don't belong on your new OS when transferring from another phone.

This makes more and more sense now a days!
Google wants to sell the cloud as much as possible. I restore GoogleOne backups from the cloud and I'm usually satisfied with the results.
I used to start from scratch but I stopped at some point several years ago. I just want my phone to work the way I'm used to. I don't use the stock launcher anyway, I use Nova Launcher Prime. Later on, I integrate elements from the new Android version and widgets/capabilities into my current Nova setup.
I never used the quick switch adapter and Google's transfer tool. I always root my phone and use Titanium Backup to restore my apps. Although, on Android 12, I think I'm gonna go for Swift Backup which I've heard good things about!
I'm still using my 4 XL for now, not sure if I want to jump on the 6 Pro with an unofficial alpha version of Magisk :/

I'd advise you to wait at least for the first or second rollout of bug fixes if you are keen on root, as of now there are a lot of software quirks that might be firmware related; if you root now, upgrading to the next monthly update might be a nightmare. As far as I can see right now, every successful root requires a full factory reset (not the bootloader unlock reset!). And every "update" will aswell (maybe the community will find a way around that, but we don't know right now).

100% on board with this. Whenever I clean flash (new phone or new OS update) I start from scratch. Download or sideload all my apps anew. Takes several hours to set up but well worth it in the long run.

Yeah, I've been reading as much as I can about root and it's not super fun right now. It remains to be seen if we can update monthly without wiping. Otherwise, that would be a MAJOR pita.
I'm gonna be traveling in about 2 weeks and I was hoping to bring my 6 Pro with me. My 4 XL is perfectly fine but not sure the battery will last while traveling. We'll see.

Can't create work Profile on my Galaxy Note Plus

Hello everyone.
I'm totally new here. This is my first post on XDA.
Recently I bought a 2nd hand phone, Samsung Note 10 Plus with a very good condition. Everything seems to me perfect when I purchased it. All features are working great.
Recently I tried to add an educational google account that was provided from one of educational institution.
When I tried to add this account on this particular phone, it's showing an error that -
"Can't create work profile!!
The security policy prevents the creation of a work profile because a custom OS has been installed on this device."
(I'm posting the screenshot also)
I don't know why it's showing this error message, because I'm not using any custom OS, according to my knowledge. I got official OTA update after purchasing it.
So as far as I know, it's running on stock OS.
The model number of my Note 10 Plus is "SCV45". It's a Japanese variant named "au".
What is reason of this error behind it? I didn't install any custom OS nor root my phone. I don't know the previous history as it's a 2nd hand phone. What should I do now to fix this issue. Please help me as I'm new to this thread.
Settings>About Phone>Status>Phone Status
Phone status should be "Official" otherwise it's been rooted and the Knox efuse tripped.
Can you set up/use Secure Folder?
Thanks for your earliest reply.
Here, phone status is showing "Official".
But after using some days, I get t know about "Knox Security" & I found heart breaking fact that my phone's "Knox Security" is void & I have to live with it as there is no workaround for that issue. (Found on XDA)
But the fact is, currently I didn't found any root access & from the about section, it's showing Official OS.
Then why it's giving error msg that I am using custom OS?
I got to know from xda that if knox security is tripped then I can't use some of Samsung app like Samsung Pass, Secure Folder, Samsung Heath....
But why I can't use a work profile when I am running on stock OS & which is not ever rooted (according to my knowledge).
So what I can do now to fix this issue?
Please help.
So much for that efuse trip method indicator... there are other ways to tell. Lol, always thought that one worked. You're questions have me curious as well.
My guess it was Knox efuse, but as for work profile not sure if it was or is tied together with Knox.
I avoid the Knox features as they're rules are convoluted... and I have no need for them.
You might want to reflash the firmware to be on the safe side. There are many here that can give you a better appraisal about this than me though.
I run stock N10+'s.
Lastly you could consider returning the device if it has been rooted in the past and the seller didn't state so.

I didn't think so it is tied with knox security. Because I have used that work profile on another mobile other than a Samsung phone. So there is no link up between my work profile and the knox security.
Now I want to reflash the stock firmware by Odin3. But the problem I faced is, when I visited SamMobile for downloading the exact firmware, I didn't see any model number with "SCV45".
All the model numbers are like - SM-N975F, SM-N975U, SM-N975U1, SM-N975N... & so on.
So, should I flash any of them? I can't choose the proper version.
My mobile is snapdragon variant.
If I flash any of the version, what will happen?? I need to know about that.
And lastly, about returning the device.
I have purchased it as 2nd hand, and the first unit that I got, has the hardware problem. So I already returned that one. So they already gave me a replacement.
So I know, there must be some issues & I have to accept that as I am getting at very cheap price. But the last one I received, is totally in fresh condition. Even the screen paper that comes with intact phone, is still there. I have checked all the the hardware and sensors. All are working perfectly. And battery backup is also good. I am getting almost 7.5hr SOT. I have checked the battery cycle. Battery discharge cycle count is 164 (I don't know whether it is modified or not). I checked the other phones that have battery discharge cycle count is almost 500 to 700.
That's why I pick this last one. All seems perfect. Only have the issues with knox security, but I get to know about that later. And knox security is also not important for me. But at least I need to use my work profile.
That is the Japanese variant.
If you're stateside a Samsung Experience center at a Best Buy can run advanced diagnostics on it and reflash it if needed.
I would stay on Android 10. Either 9 or 10 run well. 11 not so much so and 12 is a mess, both have fully active cpu cycle sucking scoped storage.
