Why do I have to make 10 posts to be able to post questions on the development forums?
I'm not a newbie, not an expert either but I use custom roms and I can't ask any questions because I can't post.
I agree with this, its a huge turn off and posting 10 random things ( 50 minutes worth since we also cant post but every 5 minutes.. ) in general is pointless. Id like to be able to do what I joined the forum for. Post in the section that peaks my interest.
Most roms have a Q&A thread. If not start onebin the Q&A section for your question. All questions should be in the Q&A forums. People posting non development related question in the development section is the reason for the rule.

Then don't waste 50 minutes posting pointless crap. Spend time making useful and constructive posts. If you have something worth saying in the development forums then this will cause you no problem at all....

Tbf those first ten posts teach you the significance of replying on the formns and do generally reduce the amount of spam on the developers section subsequently.. although I completely support what zelenden is saying.

YES, You are right, most of the ROMs have this part of Q&A or FAQ, But when we don't find the answers, we need to post a question.
Also I need to put a question when my device is stuck in a point, I searched the entire thread by using the "Search this thread" tool, and have no answer.
Sure at this time I need to post a question.
I'm using the internet about 17 yrs ago, and I feel these yrs are very enough to enable me to post a question without posting random words here or there and wasting your time as well as mine, just to count 10 posts.
I wish I didn't bother you. but I honestly passed my feeling.

That's why you post your question in the Q&A thread. Or make a new thread in the Q&A section. So you can ask your question.
No worries man. It takes alot to bother me lol
Q&A is Questions & Answers section in case that needed explaining. each device usually has a:
General area
Questions & Answers area
DEVELOPMENT area
Applications area
you ask about posting questions in DEVELOPMENT, but they should go in Questions & Answers
i notice a slight language barrier in that last one.
Hello all, I will be your appointed moderator for the forums, and I will try to keep it clean and neatly organised.

Have Fun!
Android Development Forums are for Android Development Only!!!
If you gotta a question, post it on General, if you got a comment, place it on General.
IF YOU ARE NOT DEVELOPING ANYTHING, DO NOT POST ON DEVELOPMENT
Threads not belonging on Development forums will be moved or deleted without notice
Hi all,
I've searched xda and others, and can't confirm whether or not this ROM was ever completed for the Dinc.... anyone got any info on this?
Codename Android
Noob, out.
AFAIK, it never was. No version could ever boot. Even if it ever did, this was a pre-HWA ROM.
Noob better read forum rules before posting
Questions go in Q&A
Developers post threads in Development
Thread moved!

Okay, I've read the forum rules, but I need your help.
1. Show me where this is written: "Noob better read forum rules before posting"
2. Show me where this is written: "Questions go in Q&A"
3. Show me where this is written: "Developers post threads in Development"
If you can't provide proof that these three rules exist, out of the very forum rules you expect me to read, should you even be a moderator?
I find questions being asked in all the forums, under all areas. I asked a specific question about a specific ROM that's been in development, that I knew would get answered by the folks who would know best: devs. Therefore, I posted it in Development.

Are you kidding? All of those rules are common sense.

No, they're not common sense, if they were, there wouldn't have been a need to post them.
I'm relatively new to rooting & development, and still learning. But you are moderators, and you have the opportunity to teach & encourage others. But when you forget that Golden Rule of Basic Internet For Grown Ups called "Don't Be An A-hole", you'll blow those opportunities, piss people off and drive them away.

Yes they are...the development section is for development of roms and mods. Your thread is a question so it goes in the Q & A section.

Ok, since you can't be bothered to look at a sticky in the development section, here you go: READ BEFORE STARTING NEW THREAD! This is DEVELOPMENT section not Q&A/General!!!! <<<<
And I'm sorry, it IS common sense. Have a Question? Post in Q&A (aka Question and Answers). How about a nifty new ROM I'm developing? Sounds like a good place to go is development. I really don't know how to break it down further, honestly. For the record, I'm not trying to be an "A-hole," but you are pushing the limits of common sense.
Now, I gave you the link, so please read it, or have an adult read it for you since you missed it the first time, despite it being a sticky (thus being at the top of the sub-forum). Better yet, read it twice so it all sinks in.
Edit: Read this, too. It's linked in that thread I gave you, but I don't trust you to find it. The True PURPOSE of XDA....Nailed it too the T:

I've seen in various places mention of the 10-post threshhold, and scattered mentions of various things you can't do before that point, but I haven't found a definitive list of what happens when you are upgraded from "Junior Member" to--what?--"Regular Member"?
If there is already such a list, can anyone provide a link?
All I've found so far is the list in post 17981993, but
it appears to be incomplete.
Some of the things I've heard of/am hoping for:
signature
post links
post in dev forums
post without captcha
thanks button
No 5-minute waiting period between posts
edit posts (apparently not an issue)
Also useful is a list of things that the 10-post threshold doesn't get you that you might have been hoping for/expecting.
You get what you get when you get it.

I really dislike this.
Not every new user is a noob who hasn't done their research before posting.
Right now I have a major issue with a rom and can't post on the thread because I don't have permission...

And that's why Q&A section is meant for. Development Threads were solely not intended for addressing issues, but help with development ie, helping to fix errors. But now, majority of them just posts what's not working a 100 times, even if its a beta build.

Alright I have posted my issue in the Q&A section. But really if there is a specific issue with a rom wouldn't I want to get the devs attention ASAP. I can't imagine rom devs are watching every thread in the Q&A section specific to their rom.
Ugh...
I started this thread to clarify what the rules are.
I didn't realize I risked getting buried in replies arguing about what the rules should be.
I'd ask people to start another thread if they want to discuss what the rules should be, but not sure it'll help...

It probably won't help, people just seem to love to argue about what the rules should be...
Seeing as you've got an answer to your original question I'll just close this and prevent the inevitable "OMG TEN PST RUL SUXXX" posts.

Tbh, I'd be very surprised if your issue hasn't happened to somebody before with the solution in said rom thread already
