Google maps performance sucks... - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

I can't find a solution in the web so I am trying it here.
Isn't there a way to properly force 120hz on google maps on a S20 without root? I have no clue what Samsung had done. Especially the app opening and closing animations are horrible. Stutter everywhere. I tried everything including having the newest software and factory resets...
I have a Xperia 5 ii in-house and this device didn't have this problem. It's totally smooth in comparison. I get it that some apps are running on 60 hz to conserve battery life but this is strange. Hopping in and out of the camera app doesn't lag at all although the app is also running in 60hz. Anybody has a solution and can confirm this ugly behavior?

[Q] Frame rate issues and stuttering

I've been having issues with the GN2's performance while scrolling menus and playing games. Jetpack Joyride is the most noticeable, with it stuttering all throughout. This even happens with simple games like Scramble with Friends, making it more unresponsive than it should be. Plugging the phone into the wall seems to lessen the stuttering. It also appears that the longer the app is used it slightly lessens the stuttering.
Strangely, frame rates seem better while playing 3D intensive apps like Death Dome.
My Galaxy S2 did not have any of these problems throughout its entire life span, ever. It did everything buttery smooth, which is strange considering this phone is supposed to be more powerful. The stuttering isn't terrible, but it's definitely there, and I'm not exactly happy with it.
This occurs no matter how many idle programs are closed or what Launcher that is used. I've used TouchWiz, Launcher Pro, and Go Launcher.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is this something that can be fixed or should I return the phone for another?

Wow, hahaaa! Thanks a lot! That's silly to think that works. I felt like it was some sort of power related issue and was sooner going to overclock the CPU than suspect that option.
It didn't work immediately after disabling it, but once I restarted the phone everything was fine. THANKS AGAIN!!

Lag after 5.1.1 update

Hi, i dont remember there being much lag before updating yet now, opening apps or even trying to swipe between the pull down menu pages (battery, cinema mode & settings) for example sometimes takes a couple of seconds.
I've reset the watch to factory settings and uninstalled the app on my phone and reinstalled.
It feels like i need to reduce the animation times like i would in the phones developer settings.
Any suggestions?
I haven't seen anyone else on XDA or reddit with lag issues. If you can sideload a CPU profiler or otherwise monitor processor load, I would recommend making sure an app or system process isn't hogging all the CPU cycles. If there is no issue and the lag is still there, the only option might be to contact Sony support.
I could not use the watch lagged too much, restarted the watch and it seems better.

[Q] Laggy game - Game Dev Story (H811)

I have the LG G4 H811 (T-Mobile). Does anyone on here play Game Dev Story and notice that about 3-5 seconds into the game it starts to lag, about 1/2 the speed? I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this issue before I wiped my phone. I noticed other games by this developer work just fine, and so far this is the only app that I have seen slow itself down.
I've tried clearing app cache, app data, reinstalling the app without success. If I switch out of the app and back into it, it will run normal again for about 5 seconds then slow back down.
Looking forward to custom ROMs for this. LG's software is slowing this phone down [again].
It might be because of bugged govenor, same with Tekken 6 on ppsspp, same story was on G3.
The only fix is change govenor to Conservative instead of interactive, but that require future root.
Game Dev Story has lagged on every phone I've ever owned.
Just for the hell of it, have you unchecked the battery saver gaming option?

Yeah, turned that off. It didn't make a difference to the game play. Also made sure that the settings in app were set to "Performance". Might have to ride it out until root is available for the H811 and some custom ROMs. Was hoping someone else could verify that it does the same thing. I confirmed that it runs slow on both the Lite (free) version and the Full version. Even at the start screen, you can notice the monkey swinging off the game name will start swinging slowly.
This doesn't help in any way, but I wanted to say that I have the same problem. Anyone found an actual solution?
I've got a few different games by Kairosoft and they all run terribly on the G4.

Have the latest updates improved overall performance etc?

Hey all, I had a 5x a few months back and moved to an s6 cause of the poor battery, lag issues and uneven camera performance (launching). I've read that the latest update has addressed some of these issues but wanted to get some user opinions before I pull the trigger and get another one.
Any opinions would be great!
There's so many polls and posts about how well its working...
I sideloaded the OTA and it was great for me for a few days. but I started get the camera lag on launching occasionally. Might try doing a full wipe and flash the factory image.
For me, everything has improved with the 5X. This is the experience I was expecting when I got it on release. Here's a little list:
Animations are butter smooth. So smooth I kept them at 1X in the developer options and stock in Nova Launcher.
SwiftKey no longer lags or closes and reopens.
Chrome is way smoother when browsing.
RAM Management when switching between recent apps no longer refreshes apps as often when it's only 10 or so apps listed.
If there is any lag (Doesn't happen very often), it's able to fix itself in a few minutes without the need to reboot.
Camera launching and picture taking/saving have been very good. Could be faster to launch but haven't experienced anymore black screens, viewfinder with grayed out shutter button, or stalled HDR+ saving.
Overall, I've only had to reboot once or twice since sideloading.

122 hours of up time so far on stock rooted ROM J version, with Franco kernel balanced setting, now I have the phone I wanted, it really is night and day, still running perfectly
Yip the new update has worked wonders on my phone aswell.
Won't know if it solved my wifi issues till I get to work next week.

Question Lag and GPS issues?

I noticed that there is lag with apps opening, loading times, etc. It's noticeable for me.
Also, having GPS issues. Device is having issues with staying connected when I walk around. Note20 didn't have any issues.
Seeing if anyone else is experiencing them before I contact Sammy.
UPDATE: GPS seems to be holding. Apps are still a lil slow to load. Maybe it just needs to cache app data.
Hello,
To speed up the phone, I always go under the dev options to scale the animations speed to 0,5x

Generally, out-of-the-box the phones work well and are snappy. This isn't the case. It should perform better than the Note20 Ultra, and isn't thus far.
GPS is still if-y at times.
If no one else is experiencing this then it's my phone unit. Sucks cuz I just got my work stuff setup.
It's something I always do as an habit on any phone because the animations are super slow on 1x speed.
I didn't test the GPS yet, I have a habit of turning position services off.
Yeah, normally it's of fur me too. BUT Pokemon Go + I'm a teacher and walk a couple miles a day.
Yeah, the animations aren't bad, but slow load of apps and lagging in the performance. Could be me. Appreciate the insight.
