I'm in thoughts of buying Mi 10T/Mi 10T Pro but have a few questions.
1) Does NFC work Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms?
2) Does Gcam work well(4K 60fps) Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms? And does the Gcam add stabilization on 4K 60fps recording?
3) Does the fingerprint sensor work well with Lineage, Evolution or similar custom roms?
4) Are there any port of the Miui stock camera app for Cutom roms?
5) Are there any screen protection Glass that work with the fingerprint sensor?
6) Are there any other camera app than the stock Miui that is able to record in 8K 30fps?
7) Are there any know functions in the phone that doesn't work well with custom roms?
1. Yes
2. Yes/not sure for the second part, 4k 60fps if forced option, eis and ois(only on 10t pro) exist in options
3. Yes
4. There are some anx versions that some people reported to work, but it's awful, half of the stuff doesn't work, force closes, errors etc...
5. Fingerprint sensor is on power button, so every screen protector works.
6. None that I know of
7. Nfc sometimes doesn't work, but the fix is in making. Wifi sometimes prevents phone from entering deep sleep, also fix soon

For the first part, I'm not really sure because I use both ois and eis in gcam...
As for the second part, i never tried it, just what I heard from others in telegram groups...

Hey guys,
I really like the google camera but it seems like I can't get 4k (30fps) video recording up and running. If I switch it on, the camera force closes, no matter what I do or what version I use.)
Right now I am at the latest version of saneklic (2018-07-21; MGCamera_5.1.0.18_R5Plus_v.5.1.17_fix_crash.apk)
I know about the tutorial claiming you need to enable it in some "whyred.xml" which is in a "device feature folder" (a folder somewhere in system/etc/) or something like that, but there is no such thing in a custom rom: it exists only on MIUI. I've already tried every tutorial possible, but nothing helps.
4k is working with the lineage snap, the google camera picture quality is much better though and I really prefere the gcam (because of additional settings/mods)
Thank you very much, any help is very much appreciated. If someone can help me, I will donate you a coffee :highfive:

Hey man, I'm really disappointed so far by RN5, I couldn't find a way to record stabilized 4K on custom roms, not even with Open Camera which worked fine on MIUI 10. I have a two year old RN3 which records 4K with gcam (not stabilized) and takes slightly better photos than RN5.
So far i've tried RR, LOS and AEX. 4K recording crashes any camera I've used. Open Camera just gives an error. Waited 2 weeks to unlock bootloader, thinking it will open the gates of heaven. In fact been through hell since I unlocked(yesterday). Antirollback is like a minefield which I luckily avoided, then front camera barely works with gcam, some slight battery drain with custom roms and now 4K recording is broken. Feels like I've downgraded my phone.
Think I'll try to flash MIUI 10, root it, enable camera 2 api for gcam and use Open Camera for EIS enabled 4K. Btw the latest gcam by alone_in_dark works best, even front camera works quite good, try it.
Edit: I flashed MIUI 10, once I enabled camera2 api 4K doesn't work. So it's either 4K or HDR+. Thanks Xiaomi.

Can't say no to that. But since 4K (3840 × 2160 resolution) doesn't appear in open camera after enabling camera2 api, I don't think there's a fix for that. It appears only 4000 x 2000 2:1 which gives an error. I did manage to get 4K working with another third party camera, but without EIS. Because RN5 can record 4K with excellent stabilization it's a pitty not to use it. So now if I want to record something I just use another build.prop without cam2.api then reboot, and switch back to enabled cam2.api prop when I want to use HDR+

This is horrible! I mean is it a firmware issue or some custom rom problem? Unfortuantly I'm not much into mobile software development... I really really want a fix, I would even pay money for it xD :highfive:

Hello my friend, it seems you can have it all, I finally found a way to record 4K with EIS while having camera2 api enabled. I'm really happy now and overall satisfied with the phone. Only issue remaining is the front camera HDR+ which is beyond my knowledge, hopefully someone else will come with a fix.
So now, how I managed to record 4K? I'm on MIUI 10 (8.7.12), and using latest blackbox kernel by KunalKene1797. Don't know if these have any effect, but I thought it's good to know.
The third party camera I'm using is Snap Camera, there are certain settings which need to be enabled. I'll post a video with the settings I used and which worked best. 4K Video Support and Use Camera2 API being the most important ones. There could be other settings which could improve the recording, but I like to stay on these stable settings, because I'm pleased with the results so far.
Here's the video with the settings needed in Snap Cam https://youtu.be/gRj9LhYWv5Y(video is back)
Here's the first 4K video https://youtu.be/oQGc4gXnGU0
A test for auto-focus https://youtu.be/V41k21qKQpE
No EIS sample vs EIS https://youtu.be/_qNFNs2gq74 VS https://youtu.be/00J-3cAzLjg
Edit 1: I also tried setting higher bitrate than the default 42, however in windows at the details on the first video it shows 40 total bitrate and when setting to 64 it shows 42, either way it seems the quality was marginally improved. I guess the phone can't write faster than that or the storage doesn't allow it.
https://youtu.be/Q7Lqlr-QanA
Some stuttering can be seen from 0:08 to 0:11, but I think that's because the phone started thermal throttling, it's very hot outside and from all the testing, phone was quite hot too.
I really hope it works for you as well, take care.

Hi! Thanks for all the details. I am using the latest miui 10, and WITHOUT api2 turned on, I used hedge camera app, and the 4k eis was working fine, but phone was droping the frames / stuttering the recorded video, which is a bit annoying.
I tested your setup, and I can see that its better, but still sometimes I can see some dropped frames. It happen to you too?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Yes, it happens to me as well, in the first 8 to 10 seconds, I think it's the cpu, it can't use EIS very well with 4K. Without EIS there are no dropped frames or stutter issues.
A suggestion would be to use a very fast micro sd card, haven't tested, but worth a try.
After about 4-5 minutes the phone gets quite warm and stutter is inevitable due to thermal throttling.
Flash this in TWRP to enable 4k recording in Google camera and other camera2 API-enabled apps

I was wondering which One is better forum the mi A2 lite
i think mi a2 module is beter for low light photos if u use in manual mode but gcam goes all the way ?
Ive tested many camera apps on mi a2 lite and I think that the pixel2mod v8.2 is the best ( need the camera2api enabled )
I like the gcam. But if you zoom in, the photos always have more noise (this sandy effect the high ISO makes) and, therefore, lower quality pictures. But better color treatment. So, overall, I'll say that the MiA2 module is better than the gcams I've tested.

The OTA update from July to September was working without problems here with Camera2 API enabled.
Btw, also using gcam 8.2 by Arnova.
Going back to the thread question...
After a few days of regular use (not testing use) I choose Mi A2 camera with no doubt (I don't use the front camera, and I don't usually take pictures to people). I'll keep both cameras because they offer different functions, but I'll never shoot with gcam HDR (which is suposed to be it's strenght). In the gcam R5plus_fix_crash (the one I use now), it is extremly bright (burned photos) and there is a lot of noise in the picture. And with the Arnova8G2, it takes forever to process after taking the photo. I haven't had any issue with the A2 camera. However, with the A2 camera, there isn't much diference between pictures shot with HDR or wthout it.
Hi, I've tried many apps to make photos with long exposure time, from fv-5 to freedcam and hedgecam, but in every camera exposure time always stops at 2 seconds. I've read that it's a software problem because MIUI version of A2 lite camera can go up to 32 sec. Now, I have camera2 api enable and I doesnt affect nothing. Aniway I found a mod of nokia camera by @linuxct (Im currently on 91.9.1130.40) that allows to shot 4 seconds, unfortunately without RAW. Here are some photos:

Are you sure it's long exposure and not image stacking? Cause for me it seems It only stacks images. I tried to take a photo with the lite version and with nokia camera, settings are exp time:4 sec, ISO:400, for both cameras. The brighter One Is nokia

yup,
did the option for "force usage of legacy camera driver" is off? you can check it on
general setting > compatibility
it must on then your shutter speed option will not showing as scrolling, it will showing as manual input number. and it work on my a2 lite than scrolling mode.

Of course, as mentioned already; using Camera2 API / HAL3 and the MIUI Camera's Manual mode is the better option.
You can otherwise get it working in FreeDCam, albeit with Camera1 API:
Turn off / remove Camera2 API and reboot
Confirm Camera1 API is in use by using Camera2 Probe, ensuring "Hardware Support Level" = LEGACY
Launch FreeDCam and re-run FeatureDetector
Set your image settings as desired, and turn OFF Zero Shutter Lag
Use Mode Pic, JPEG output. Swipe up from the bottom, and set the shutter to desired value in seconds
(optional, but recommended) Set ISO to ISO_HJR to get >ISO3200 in low light
39 seconds @ ISO12744 is the highest/most I can get. From 40s on there's some sort of wrap or restart from 0.

Edit: playing with settings and now magically works, lol. However the fact that you must use api 1 otherwise it crashes it's annoying, because RAW is only usable with api2
Hey Folks,
i know the topic is discussed sometimes already, but the most commong solution: "just use Gcam" doesnt really work for me.
Well to my problem, as we all know the RN8P cant shoot raw using MIUI except with Gcam or Front Cam 3rd Party Apps.
I am mostly doin astrophotography with this Phone and in AP Raw Format is kinda Must for Post Processing. Now people gonna say: But Google Camera has Astrophotography Mode!!!
Ye ye i know it does, and it is "okay" when u think its fully done with 1 button press, but comparing the Results between Google Camera AP Mode and Fully Manual Mode Shots + stacking are drasticly and very extreme. I live in a very Light Polluted Area and for me the difference between Gcam and Manual Mode is Having a Milky Way Photo or having a photo with only 20 Stars on it. So thats why GCam isnt really a solution for me. So i switched to HAVOC OS CFW which is great because now i can Shoot in RAW in Full Manual Mode with ANX Camera and 3rd Party Apps. So far so good. The Thing is, i like the whole MIUI Experience with its UI and the way they handle the Apps and all its blinky blinky animation.s More Than Stock Android like on Havoc.
Now i saw the Begonia Mods here on XDA which activated some camera mods. Sadly not the RAW Mode. Is it possible to add something to the XML like: "supports_raw"true or something like that?
Or is it possible to deactive the 64MP Mode for 3rd Party apps so it only connects to the 16MP Sensor Data with Pixel Binning and we dont get the Camera Error the whole time? Or does anyone know a fully working Manual Camera with White Balance Support, Manual Focus, Manual Exposure Time and Manual ISO which does support RAW on our Phone when using MIUI 12? I mean its basicly just a software lockout, since the phone definatly supports RAW as we can see with CFW or Gcam.
I actually checked the camera 2 api probe and its not HAL3 Full, but in CFW it is HAL3 Full. Back when i had the Mi Max 2 (oxygen) i had to enable c2api manually in the build.prop. Did someone tried to activate HAL3 manually in the build.prop already to have it on FULL support?
I am open to any solutions you guys can think of or tried yourself. I dont mind rooting MIUI 12 or so, all i want is MIUI OS + Full Manual Camera with RAW no matter how and at which costs
And please as i said earlier: "Just use Google Camera" is no Option for me
Greetings and have a nice Day
snap camera hdr allows raw capture on note 8 pro with full iso and shutter speed control but limited focus and white balance option
select raw and tap on the iso value to enable manual control
for wb and focus tap and hold on the viewfinder
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marginz.snap
I have same problem and you are firs person who say same. Havoc os shoot 64 mp raw? or 16 mp like gcam?
Stumbled across this seems to work just fine from my quick testing astro photography must be enabled as not by default

Since gauguin now has LOS 17.1 alpha and mi-globe currently the lack of a good working GCam is holding me back to seek to buy this one - and a little the imanent release of Redmi Note 10 Pro, which should have the same Snapdragon 750G and maybe Radio support.
Hi, how do you install this app on android 11? It's failing for me ( propably because integrity verification).
Can someone upload the stock xiaomi.eu camera app ?

Well, you won't be able to install it unless you are on MiUI. If you still want to download it go to APKMirror
support EIS in 4K video mode?

Just checked and it does, but on the main lens only. Also checked 4k 60 without luck (probably cpu limitation).

May I ask about the GCam version and if 4k 30fps still has good EIS support?
Try this gcam mod - gave it a quick test and all basic functions seem to work
Video will record in 60fps without 4k option selected
30fps with 4k option selected - if you try 60fps the app will close and you need to clear data of app to use video again

Have you managed to use it on android 11?
There is no Fix for Mi 10T Lite to run 64 MP, it's only 16MP, so I'm wondering on what ROM did you check that it supposedly works?
How do you switch camera lenses in the linked gcam version?

If it's the apk I believe it is, go to settings -> Advanced -> Auxilary camera and enable them. Then the selector appears like on the stock app.
Brilliant, thank you!
Anyone has a clue why the tele lense could be blurry? I tried different Global/EEA rom vendor images (12.0.1, .2, .5) with different custom roms and GCAM versions. All with the same issue.
