For a few months now my phone would lose LTE signal, drop to 3G and stay there when passing certain areas which never was an issue before. I've been having to toggle the airplane mode to get LTE back. Was there a modem/radio change that happened and anyone have a list of modems/radios I can try flashing?
Just in case anyone is wondering: T-Mobile SoCal

AT&T just turned on LTE in my area and its great, however my note will show its connected to LTE then every now and then it will switch back to 4g. If I toggle airplane mode on/off then LTE will come back, but it keeps cutting out and I have to re-toggle airplane mode. Any ideas?
That could just be ATT being ATT. I am shown as being solidly within LTE territory and there are places where either there's no LTE available or it would take a bit to connect to LTE. The second part I'm not sure who's fault it is. But just know that just because they say you have LTE coverage doesn't mean that you'll have LTE connectivity throughout that service area. ATT - only the best.
Yea I understand that, I just think its weird that after the LTE icon goes away and toggling data off/on;the LTE icon shoes up again after dissapearing

Is anyone having a problem with losing data signal even though it shows full bars of LTE with Spark icon spinning like it should? Usually after a long sleep period but sometimes sooner. Have to toggle Airplane Mode to get it going again. Have the gold LS990 and it's happening in several areas with different towers. Sprint issue or device specific? Really like the phone but this is intolerable.

I recently purchased an HTC 10 from UAE. I am experiencing problems with LTE signals. I am running stock Android Nougat 7.0 with January 2017 security patch. If i go to some area where there is no LTE coverage then my phone data connection doesn't work which is perfectly fine but when i go back to an area where there is strong LTE coverage my phone doesn't get back LTE signals. I have to turn the airplane mode on and off in order get back LTE signals. Phone itself should get back LTE signals automatically when it is in an area where there is strong LTE coverage. If i dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to Phone information it says Data Technology is unknown until i turn on and off airplane mode. I have triple checked my APN settings they are perfectly fine.
Also sometime when i am in an area where there is strong LTE coverage even then my phone automatically stops getting LTE signals . My friends are using the same network that i am using on different smartphones and they're not experiencing this kind of problem.
Does anyone experiencing this kind of problem?
Noticing something unusual now with my S8+ locking onto 4G LTE.
If I am in a 4G LTE area (40-50 down speeds on avg), then move to a poor coverage area (Edge only), then move back to the same 4G LTE area...my phone does not switch back to 4G LTE.
I have to restart my phone in order to connect to 4G LTE.
Turning off then turning on data doesn't work either...although shouldn't have to do this anyway.
Any suggestions? BTW, haven't touched the default phone settings and I have cellular network preferred in the wifi call setting if that matters. Network mode is LTE/4G/3G/2G. My phone is not rooted.
Thanks.
I've experienced this same issue I've actually had my s8+ replaced under warranty 5 times now... t-mobile is now having me contact samsung to send in my phone because they believe its a phone issue...
wow, really...
that stinks...and you know, only started after one of the recent updates, whatever was before the Bixby update... maybe coincident, maybe not.
Same issues here. I've had while running the T-Mo firmware and the unlocked firmware. Mine was originally the US Unlocked version purchased straight from Samsung.com.
I have that same problem too... Just put it in airplane mode for a few seconds to fix it.

That doesn't work for me. It's hit or miss. Sometimes it bounces back to LTE just fine, other times not. Yesterday, it got stuck on H+. Only a reboot would fix it.
well what the heck - guess i will visit the TMo store to see what they say...
Hey
I probably know the answer to this already, and isn't device specific. Does anyone know if it's possible to force a cell tower switch. I think what's happening is my local cell tower does not support 5G. I noticed recently when some work was being done, and during a power cut at this cell tower than my device switched from that cell tower to another. I was only getting 4 bars, but, was getting 5G and had download speeds of around 450mb+ rather than the 50mb on 4G. I've tried band switching and forcing 5G only, but that doesn't seem to work.
Thanks
This may help:

Obviously turning airport mode on/off will force it to reacquire a cell tower.
Google it... there maybe other ways.
Thanks.
I've tried band switching but don't seem to have any luck. When I switch to N78, I seem to get not signal. I'm assuming it's connected to the same cell tower but only looking for the 5G bands. I've tried airplane mode etc but I think it looks like I'm connected to the same cell tower.
I might be completely misunderstanding how this works to be honest.
Google seems to not have answered my questions.
I'm guessing you already know of this and other related apps,I've never used before dont know if any have switching ability... so please dont shoot the messenger. ? Simply making a suggestion.
