Adhoc wifi connections - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm rooted & running 14.1 on a T800. I need to connect to an adhoc wifi in order to configure a WiFi to usb print server. Does anyone know of an app that makes this possible?

[Q] Please help Re: tethering and LAN connection

Hello everyone! First time poster here.
I've been looking for solutions all over and i can't seem to find one...
Internet at home is down and I'm tethering on my phone (tilt2 energy rom w/ att). Tethering works fine but i have to disconnect from the LAN to make it work.
Tethering internet creates another connection independent from the LAN.
I am using windows 7 and i'm wondering if there's any way i can tether internet on my phone and be connected to the LAN at home?

I think what you meant is trying to use your Defy's as mobile hotspot to connect your laptop which currently setting to your college internet proxy...
In windows 7 it can auto established to a multiple network connections.
The only thing you need to do is setting your internet option connection to which network you want to connect..
Goto Control panel - network & internet - internet option - connections - Lan settings - proxy server - uncheck everything..
I hope I understand you right..

Ad hoc wifi network connectivity?

Is there a script or app or ROM that will enable Ad hoc network connectivity with WEP security?
In my classroom I have a mac sharing its wired connection over its wireless card - instant wi-fi. Until recently it has been unsecured and I connected my phone to the network via wi-fi.
Recently I've had to add a WEP password as students have discovered the SID. Now my Samsung won't connect. It sees it just fine but won't connect even with the password.
Please Advise how to make the connection.
Thx.
Aww man! No help on this?
To recap - I can see and join ad hoc wifi network when there is no WEP security in place. When I add a password then I can see the network and try to join the network, but when I enter the password nothing happens. It thinks for a while and then it disconnects.
Any solutions? Or recommendations about what would be the correct forum to ask in?
Sounds weird, as our phones don't normally support connecting to ad-hoc WiFi at all. The only ROM that does support it as far as I know is Alien ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376482
I'm not sure how you managed to connect to ad-hoc in the first place, and if it's not ad-hoc then it should already support WEP out of the box.
I'm using the GingerSnap ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418293
FiveOhFox, the dev, doesn't mention anything about adding this functionality but I've used it every day (Until I added the WEP and password).
Maybe I'm using the term adhoc incorrectly. This is a Mac, wired to our network via CAT-5 whose wireless card has had internet sharing turned on. This broadcasts a SID and allows wireless clients to share its internet connection - with our without WEP.

Galaxy S3 Question (PC WIFI)

This may have been asked before. I am curious if it is possible to connect to an internet connection sharing device (laptop, desktop), and use that particular connection for internet based access on a samsung galaxy S3. I know that you can reverse tether to allow the PC to connect to the phone for internet. That's not what I'm looking for. I have a laptop that I want to be able to connect to from the phone to the WIFI connection, and access the internet via the shared LAN connection that I have on the laptop.

Internet Connection Sharing on your Wifi, set it to Ad-Hoc so it broadcasts a signal. My laptop has Intel MyFi so that part's done automatically (I can be both connected wirelessly and share my connection) but setting it this way should work.

Doesn't show up on the phone. Is there something I need to do to allow it to see ad-hoc networks?
