Hello. My phone 1st received ota update miui 12 919mb. I tried to install it and something went wrong. Then I went back to settings check for update and this time it gave me full rum update with the new miui 12 with the volume of 2 GB with android 10 miui 12 integrated. It might be stupid question but I want to make sure if I install this full OTA update well the internal memory be formatted? Because my applications and internal files are very important to me and I don't want to reinstall whole application I can't waste time for that. Flash this downloaded update using TWRP? The main question is that well the internal memory will be formatted or this OTA update will reinstall the current one in the phone and the phone will work normally? My phone is redmi note 8 pro, TWRP installed and rooted and bootloader unlocked running on Android 10 MIUI 11

Hello, The latest version of MIUI12 is buggy... my son's phone is rebooting in loop... I am coming here if someone has an idea to get data back from the phone.... . Before doing anything, it is much recommended to save your data first in a safe place ...

I rooted my m8 on stock android 4.4.4 and since the lollipop update rolled out, I applied my backup from TWRP and flashed stock recovery then relocked bootloader. Installed Lollipop via OTA, unlock bootloader and flashed TWRP then flashed supersu. So I'm on android lollipop 5.0 and rooted. I don't know what went wrong, my phone seem too laggy ( mostly when I'm trying to type on facebook messenger, every times i type a text it stacks for some times) And most importantly, some stocks application such us HTC sense TV and Scribble not working anymore. every time I open, it say " stopped unexpectedly ". I don't really know what I might do to get it fix, please advice me.
I have the same problem, basically. I have an unrooted, completely stock phone that got updated through OTA. Ever since the update the phone is lagging, the battery life is visibly worse, and the only visible change is the color of the quick settings and the appearance of notifications. Lots of people are excited and eager to update to Lollipop, but based on my experience I really regret updating. I wish there was an easy way to revert to 4.4.4, but unfortunately it takes too much time which I don't have at the moment. So I decided to wait till May, when Sense 7 is supposed to arrive to M8.
Many of the initial problems with Lollipop were solved by factory reset, but certainly not all. It remains to be lagging and frustrating. At least it's free. But on the other hand, if I bought it, I would certainly return it and ckaimed a refund. As it is, I just have to suffer through it.

ႈI guess, there only way to switch back to stock totally is to s-off but I am not sure if we can still apply nondroid back up of 4.4 stocks might work on lollipop loaded device. its so annoying ^_^
Facebook and Facebook Messenger simply have issues. The big problem is that when sounds are enabled in those apps they lag terribly running ART. ART is probably the reason why you're having issues with other apps, which would be remedied by a factory reset and reinstalling all the apps. I don't see any reason why you'd need to be s-off to flash back to a nandroid backup of 4.4. The only possible issue I could imagine you having would be compatibility issues with firmware, and I think that would require you to be s-off to revert back to, but I think 4.4.4 should work with 5.0 firmware. Can't say for certain though since I'm on Verizon and I'm not sure what carrier you're on, but I'm running 5.0.1 on 4.4.4 firmware. I've run several Sense 6 5.0.1 ROMs and they have been just as fast and even more battery efficient than 4.4.4.
You could always flash a Kit-Kat ROM while you wait for Google to address those bugs with the next release. You don't have to S-Off to go back to the older firmware if you don't want to.
If you want to stay stockish, I recommend Maximus HD.
My phone is turning worst and worst, now i can't even screenshot due to luck of storage it says. So I don't have to s-off to roll back ? All these issues are due to Android L or could it be becoz of me, I flash old TWRP ( 2.7). One more things, I do I flashed my local font on HTC ? I use all fontchangers and I even flash it via fastboot but it doesn't seem overwrite. I can't install busybox too.

Most of your issues are not Android L related but more on user side. Make a backup of your current ROM on ext_sd, make a backup of your internal storage to ext_sd or PC.
Change your TWRP version to 2.8.5.0
In TWRP select WIPE then FORMAT DATA - yes
Reboot recovery
Restore your backup

How ? Have you managed that ?
for me on lollipop on the m8. lot of features did not seem to work. like the nfc, screen rotation, g sensor, flashlight, and proximity sensor. so i tried to goto a custom rom and it still didnt work. anyone else have this problem?
For lag removing, disable Nu player in developper options.
As per the rest.. my M8 kicks ass using completely stock lollipop 5.0.1
No lags, no FCs, no misbehaving.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
No issues here since I jumped to Lollipop. Then again, I'm technically not stock. I'm on Viper Rom.

I tried that and it still lagging on keyboard then I flashed Revolution HD and same issue. Lately, I found out that comes from Fb messenger, I keep in app sound alerts off and now my keyboard is flawless. I'll just wait for 5.0.2 to go back to stock.

Hey,
today I've got the message that I have low space left on my phone, what I really doubted. So I'd looked it up and the system partition in the android storage control under settings was HUGE >>>27 GB<<<.
So I searched around, but I couldn't find a solution. I erased and formatted everything via fastboot and flashed the factory image (7.1.1) fresh to the device. After the inital setup I went to the settings again and the huge system partition persisted! 19GB....
What could that be? How do I fix this?
Regards

Have you tried to wipe your system partition from stock bootloader menu?If you are rooted use your custom recovery the same way. To get on stock bootloader connect your phone to a PC and use adb reboot bootloader on terminal (cmd).
Worked out

Hey guys,
yes I've made it The reason was obviously a wrong SuperSu version, which I flashed. I flashed the 2.46 and this odd behavior of the storage appeared...
When I flashed the newer 2.76 (don't remember the exact version number) everything went normal. Can't get the connection between root and storage, but this was definitely the reason.
Have a nice day everyone
Hi. I'm new to this forum. Thanks in avance for your help.
I'm having a similar issue, but my system size is now 4.01 GB after 7.1.1 official OTA (AFAIK it should be less than 1 GB). My N5x is the 16 GB version, so you can imagine how important is to recover those missing 3 GB
I bought the N5x (brand new) last week, but I thought it was a good idea to wait for the official 7.1.1 OTA before upgradind from 6.0. So yesterday I did the whole update process in a single shot... First from 6.0 to 7.0... Then a couple security parches, and then finally the update to 7.1.1 (all official OTAs, no ROOT, all stock). In all intermediate update stages, system size was close to 1 GB. It was just in final 7.1.1 that the system size increased to 4.01 GB.
I've seen this problem in other forums over the last 24 hours, but no solution or explanation yet. Looking forward for your wise advice. THANKS !

I had the same problem as the OP, i used TWRP to resize the DATA partition and that fixed the problem.
System partition is 2.95GB according to a df -hm but storage reports it as using 4.24GB of data, not sure if running a resize on it will change anything but you could try it and see if changes anything.
My T800 is in a right state. I was running one of the first MM roms to be released in the wild, with root and twrp. But a couple of months ago, I mistakenly installed the correct official MM rom, breaking everything. Now I can't root it, install twrp and adopted storage doesn't work.
So I was hoping I could downgrade to lollipop, root, install twrp and then update to one of the root-friendly MM roms on here. Is it possible to do that?

I'm not sure what you mean by break everything?
A few more specifics is required.

By "broken" I mean, apps crashing, apps not installing, freezing, random rebooting, overheating. The sorts of things which drive you mental and, in effect, break everything.
I must have wiped and installed the OS a dozen times over the weekend. I was able to get the correct version of twrp and install it with odin, letting me wipe the system and data partitions in order to get a clean install. I restored all my apps, installed a system update. Then I installed twrp again, flashed the su zip and for some reason it would start freezing, reporting the sd card had been removed. So I eventually wiped, installed the rom, and then let Smart Switch install the correct version of MM for my tablet and just installed the really essential apps. Then twrp and finally su. I was even able to set half of my sd card up as adoptable storage (using root essentials app) and it is working perfectly now.
But I think its time I was looking out for a replacement tablet now. Although a great device at the time, and for a couple of years afterwards, it has become a bit long in the tooth lately.
In order to rule out any external issues, I'd use odin to flash the factory firmware (this of course will erase TWRP). Remove the sd card, and use the device for a while as is. If it works, then your past problems were some kind of software-related problem. If it still has issues, then there could be a hardware problem, like memory or the rest of logic board.

I think he's got it sorted now. Seems that's what he's already done.
If I am in a class of 1 in terms of rank stupidity please feel free to delete this post. :silly:I got sick of the updater nags. With a couple of previous Xiaomi phones I got away with finally saying yes to the OTA update which would inevitably fail after which the nags would stop for a good long while.
Not this time. I now have Miui 11 (which I did not want and which has a completely broken feedback function, btw) but lost root, magisk, and exposed.
I should also note that another Max 3 user posted here that permitting the OTA update bricked their device, so I guess things could be worse.
About to see if I can re root using the same method as before the update.
Sorry if I wasted anyone's time on the blindingly obvious.
Update: The Miui 11 OTA update completely broke screencasting on my phone. While previous updates crippled native miracast you could still use it within apps such as media players prime video etc. Not anymore. The new casting and widi settings see devices but do not connect successfully while apps with casting ability see no devices at all. If I can't get around anti rollback I'll have to buy a new phone.

Don't worry about anti-rollback unless you go back to rom that has no anti rollback. I go from miui 10 global to miuieu 11 P beta to miuieu 11 Q beta then back to miuieu 10 P stable. Now I settled on miuieu 11 P stable, yes miui 11 Q is very buggy. A few of my app don't work properly.
[Fix] Root on latest MIUI 11 build !
Just update Magisk Manager to 20.2 !
What's with a screen when charging, it keeps turnin on? Happens after MIUI 10 install...
Since the first version of Android Q, I could never do it Root, I can't make Magisk work, whatever I do.
I install it without problems, but when restarting it is not installed, I never have root.
Try 20.1 and 20.2, it still doesn't work.
I have a Mi Max 3 6/128
I installed the latest Miui 11 OTA update last night - taking a full Orangefox backup beforehand. After reboot, the phone was full of ads suddenly and it took me a while to figure out that root had been removed. I soon discovered that Orangefox had also been removed and replaced with a clunky-looking version of TWRP. I reflashed Orangefox and Magisk - coming back to recovery inbetween-times and it booted fine but the ads were still there so I tried to install Xposed via Magisk and that seems to have pretty much soft-bricked it. I can get into Orangefox where it said 'No Rom' which didn't seem like a good sign. I tried to re-flash the full backup I'd made with Organgefox yesterday (and this not really understanding Orange fox that well) but that hung at 'System image' - so I tried to flash without that and that succeeded but it's still totally bootlooping.
I'd very much appreciate some advice:
1. The Orangefox backup I made was with all the boxes ticked - i.e back up everything. I have the dim idea that trying to simply restore all of this won't work (it certainly doesn't seem to work). What parts of the full backup should I try to restore?
2. If I install the latest Global Miui 10 ROM - which is still Android 9 - using the Miui repair tool, will this brick the phone because of ARB? Or is it safe to do this?
3. Will dirty-flashing the latest Miui 11 rom via OrangeFox likely make something I can at least boot up and get some data (it turns out that 'SMS backup and restore' hasn't been working for weeks so I don't have a pile of work texts that I really wouldn't like to lose)?
4. Any other suggestion most gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
(Thinking about it, this thread is for the OTA breaking the MI Max 3, not my particular woes with restoring an Orange Fox backup - so, with apologies, I'll post in the Mi Max3/Orange Fox thread.)
PS: Flashing the OTA again fixed it, short term: no root is better than no phone.
12 is so buggy and filled with UI lags. Terrible.. so I fired up odin, selected all 4 major files (I used CSC Home to preserve my user data) and flashed the latest 11 XAA version for my phone (which is what i was running prior)
Unfortunately, the phone wouldn't boot. Got an android can't start error; it suggests doing a factory reset which I didn't want to do just yet.
So I re-flashed all 4 files again, this time from 12 build (XAA) and i'm back up and running, no user data loss.
What's the right way to downgrade? Do i have to use CSC and wipe my user data? Any way to downgrade w/out doing that?
Thank you!
I also wanted to go back to the A11 and that's the problem. When I put the appropriate files into Odin and ran it, the flashing stopped at the word UH in a moment. After a few tries, I had to reinstall the A12. Then Odin didn't stop anymore.

Nope. Wipe is required
