After contacting google and their twitter account and even calling in without a solution, and kept referring me back to if it met the requirements and is non rooted, modified or if the device was a USA purchase etc. i decided to just play around with what i had and here we go, it turned out to be so simple and for somewhat reasons google couldn't give this as a solution.
Solution to this:
*What you'll need:
- 2 devices ( your main, secondary [doesn't matter if it's a tablet, we're using it as a dummy to add the card(s)] )
- ... that's pretty much it lols
*Procedures:
1) on the secondary device download the android pay app and login to the same google account.
2) add the card that you want and verify and confirm it.
3) on your main device (in this case the sony xperia z5 / z5P) you'll notice that you'll be able to use and add cards with no more errors.
4) enjoy!
note: i tried to make this as simple as possible, let me know if you encounter any problems, as for the device did this for the error fix was my sony z5 premium international unlocked under a stock rom and non rooted or modified. so im not sure if this same case would apply for those who're rooted or modified but give it a try and let me know ^^

Worked like a charm, big thumbs up!
Google kept giving me crap like, "We do not currently support international or unlocked devices..." and, "If you've rooted your phone or unlocked the bootloader then it won't be able to use Android Pay..." even though I told them over and over again that my Z5P is 100% stock, locked BL, not rooted, etc.
I'll spread the word to friends of mine with Z5/C/P phones from various different countries of origin and let them know T&P works again with this trick.

Glad to hear it worked for as well ^^ btw, if you could please indicate your device status? Was it a rooted one?

Unfortunately i don't have second Android device?
Wish I can use it in Italy
Sometimes it's hard or impossible to use just a simple credit card.
Hello everyone!
My apologies if this has been answered anywhere else; searches failed me and I feel too noobish and scared to perform this based on more "generic" guides, especially that I've found some warnings around the net about the normal methods not necessarily applying to this model - which is why I'm looking for instructions specific to this model.
So, my Xperia Z1 Compact model is SO-02F - the Japanese one with Docomo stuff. What I would like to do is completely get rid of the stock software & bloatware and install an absolutely clean, generic Android that will work with this model. No Sony, no Docomo stuff - pure Android and that's it.
Here are the phone's basic details:
Model number: SO-02F
Android version: 4.4.2
Baseband version: 8974-AAAAANAZQ-10270049-78
Kernel version: 3.4.0-perf-g99c83e1
Build number: 14.3.B.0.362
If any other info is needed, just let me know and if there are any threads that already answer this comprehensively - feel free to redirect me...
Thanks a lot for your help!
To install a completely clean version of Android you would need to unlock the bootloader, but the Docomo version of Z1C has a bootloader that cannot be unlocked. You are limited to either using stock firmware or modified firmware based on stock. As an owner of SO-02F I understand why you'd want a clean Android on it. Docomo firmware is one of the worst examples of bloat I've ever seen. However, international versions of Z1C firmware (model D5503) are better, though still a little bloated. I suggest you just flash a US D5503 firmware.

Thanks a lot, Ummmbra; I just got the phone reset to factory settings, so I'm now thinking about flashing it with an appropriate region firmware; the question is, is it actually safe to flash D5503 firmware onto SO-02F?
Safe

Thanks a lot for confirming! I actually already went with it and all seems to be working fine. The only problem that remains is that the phone still seems to be adjusted to other frequencies, resulting in, for example, GPS issues...
How can i RooT my 2.3.4 "SonyEricsson XPERIA Play (R800i)" with build number xxx.69?
Ok so....i have been looking for some tutorials (semi NooB here) and i cant seems to find some new one or one that is consistend or just about root.
Also many are outdated, poorly written, and there arent many tutorials as i saw about RooT-ing XPERIA Play, at least not the one with build number .69.
Also if i DO find some good (as i saw from comments) like this one for example: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204321 (i mean i only really trust XDA forum for stuff i do to my phone) the links for necessary files are long gone.
So...if anyone can please help me or rederect me to some updated, good and thread or website with tutorial that HAS working links, please do!
Anyway...
So i got "SonyEricsson XPERIA Play" (R800i) with build number 4.0.2.A.0.69, With Android version 2.3.4. Its never been RooT-ed as i know.
So i just want to RooT it so i can remove ANNOYING bloatware and free up some space and make it clean teh way I want tbh! I see no other reason to RooT it... I mean there is one but im still thinking about it (for now) and that is, as i heard, since X-Play doesnt have any OFFICIAL updaes, its stuck on Android 2 (gingerbread) i heard that i can flash a ROM to Android 4, and that improves gaming, which is what i want TBH, i mainly, if not always, use this phone for gaming and emulators, and if Android 4 custom ROM can improve already great (for X-Play ofc) performance, id be happy to do so!!!
But first thing first, i like to get informed first of all... But as for now, im just looking help for first step, and that is: How to RooT my XPERIA Play, please?
Thanks guys! ^^
Anyone..i tried numerous stuff, but im constantly stuck..cant seems to rood. idk what am i doing wrong
[HOW-TO][zergRush Root] Root w/ v2.2.x-2.3.x (NOT ICS 4.x or GB after 11/2011)
This thread is a collaboration by myself, paxChristos, DooMLorD, & amishxda. Please give credit where credit is due. Thanks. This method has been confirmed to work on all models of the Xperia PLAY - R800x / R800i / R800a / R800at. Also works...

Any news on this, here in Oz we've been abandoned by LG to having only Android 9...
Everytime we ask about it LG says it's up to Google to release the update... What a crock since the rest of the world has it, we are the ONLY country yet to get Android 10...
This might give a little love to our forgotten, EXPENSIVE FLAGSHIP...
Last time I'm buying LG I'll tell you that...

He's already shown that it's possible, give them time to develop the steps/guide to do it. Don't ask for ETAs, basic XDA rule.
Hi guys! Please be patient as there were some bricked devices.
All korean V50 can have this and also some G8.
If you dont have patience, join telegram group V50 and ask for help from Vlad48 aka VL48. White user also has the knowledge and also contributed a lot to this, but he doesnt speak english that good and you may get confused in doing things that will brick your phone.
I'm waiting to make an ALL IN ONE guide with everything in that ADB folder so that we will donwload just one file.
Almost all bricked devices so far were because of WRONG file placement inside adb folder if you believe it ...
That's no worries, not wanting an ETA.
Sorry, went off on a tangent there earlier due to overwork and night shift.
As I said, here in Oz we've been stranded with Android 9, security update is for Oct 19, with no Android 10 release in sight and only excuses and buck passing from LG.
Do we know if this will allow Android 9 to be rooted and, finally, be updated to the latest OS?
Cheers guys...

Yeah, there may be an issue there... You can only use temp root on Android 10. Specifically what phone model (carrier/region that the phone is from) do you have? I don't mean your current carrier necessarily, just the branding of your model.

It's the LM-V500EM, like Europe, however, it is distributed exclusively through Australia by Telstra.
This means we can't upgrade using another country's firmware but also, as we aren't part of Europe and UK, we can't unlock the bootloader. :crying:
Again, every time LG is asked about newer firmware the finger is pointed at Google.
When Telstra is asked, mostly just the sound of silence but if you do hear whispers it's no firmware has as yet been supplied and to check with the manufacturer of the device.
Google also has the advice Telstra give about the updated firmware which puts LG in the drivers seat and they're still sitting at the bar at the start of happy hour as far as Australia is concerned, and every hour is happy hour..
Hence we need to be able to unlock the bootloader and root to update our expensive and, supposedly flagship device.
You understand the frustration and impatience...
should we be looking for a brand in particular of the phone beside the korean one? Plannign to upgrade my v30

Hi, i recommend v50 koreans due to battery life and 5g.
G8 Sprint is now bl unlockable at lower price and nice compact form factor
Just got my v50 u+ recently
Cant wait for the script
Can't wait for these guides, thank you to all involved!
If I may make a request, perhaps a guide on how to hide root, using Magisk, so that banking apps can still be used?
Thanks again

That's a pretty generic guide; just use magisk hide and the props config module, but lots of modules may break safety net

I see thanks. If a module breaks safety net, does uninstalling that module mean the device passes safety net again? Or is the device just permanently marked as unsafe?

You might have to wipe data for all the Google apps (or possibly even factory reset), but it shouldn't be permanent

Not to sound like a jerk, but I do think it's a valid question... what is the point of creating a thread promising a comprehensive 'All in one guide' to be 'released shortly', and also posting in the other root thread that a guide will be available, and then nearly a month later, there is still no guide? Again, I don't want to sound like a jerk because you're trying to help, but so far, you have just made empty promises and gotten peoples hopes up but not actually provided anything
(again, not trying to sound harsh, just posting as someone who has been keeping an eye on this for a month and now feeling frustrated)
Sorry, dont have time for this, anyone can make a new thread or admin delete this...
Until then, all is available on telegram.

Is there any work being done to try and root it or is it locked never happening
Don't see it happening. The days of unlocked bootloaders, TWRP and even simple root seem to be over for the unlocked USA snapdragon versions. I can live with that but no esim on the 'ultra flagship' device is simply unacceptable, IMO.
If you go back and read the posts about rooting, you will find the all but 1 or 2 models can be unlocked. the US Unlocked is not rootable. Make sure you read through the posts, you can usually find the answer in the threads.
I appreciate the responses. So let's say I was willing g to sell this one to buy one that can be rooted. Which model am I looking for? I just use a prepaid phone service. But like being able to jump from one service to another.
That is also listed on the forum thread titles.
SM-F926B
Thank you
Isn't there a paid service that unlocks the US bootloader?

Would you trust someone else or a company to use unknown software on your device then install and log in to all of your stuff not knowing if they installed anything malicious?
What about model SM-F926U? rootable or not?
As stated here and in other threads, there is no root for the U/U1. Doing so has negative effects to the ROM, such as disabling the camera.
IF there was/is a successful Root process, the community will blow up with threads explaining how.

Try it out ! and tell us back
Checkout if you have the OEM option (@ developer options) to enable it ..
That is the first step to unlock the bootloader
Not seeing that OEM option in Developer options.............so I'm not willing to try it out, don't want to brick the device.

Exactly !!!
Because you can't unlock the bootloader as said before , no OEM option = no unlock
So that link is wrong unfortunately
Yes, any post that says they can root the Fold 3 U/U1 is wrong. You will have consequences like losing camera and such.
Yes, it is wrong. This has been explored at length. I'm sorry it isn't a reality, but that's where we are.
appreciate the feedback..................back in the day with Windows Mobile OS phones, I would flash custom roms all the time, then the same with android HTC devices......................but haven't tried rooting since the Note-8.
