You indeed can, since the canadian model (W8) has the exynos chipset instead of snapdragon. The unlocking process is the same with the international model (F).
Just a note, if you decide to install a Pie ROM (Android 9) they may not come with CSC features (wifi calling, call recording, volte, etc.). Install this (clickable link), to install CSC for your service provider.

Need help - SM-G960U1 Jio VOLTE not working

Hey Guys,
I am from India. And I got an S9 gift from USA.
Jio volte doesn't work on the phone.
After intensive research I concluded I need to flash a stock indian firmware for Jio Volte to work. (There could be a better way I am not aware of)
My phone model is SM-G960U1 and on SAMmobile No Indian firmware is available for this model.
This is a Snapdragon Phone. Single Sim.
Please guide me. What firmware/process should I follow to have Jio Volte work on the phone.
Thanks in advance
I am facing the same issue since a few months now. I did try a few different firmwares without any luck. Were you able to get a solution to this?

I am also desperate to make my T Mobile US S9 work in India with Jio. I don't see any detailed threads for S9. I see steps given only for S8 to enable VOLTE in a US snapdragon based phones.
Apparently, there is no solution available to this problem so far. Sadly we can't flash any CSC outside of USA just yet. The problem is two fold, Indian S9/S9+ variant is a dual sim version with exynos processor whereas, the US variant is single sim, Snapdragon based device. Moreover there are only a bunchful of users like us so the likelihood of getting any future support from Samsung devs is very less

Can provide more details and links to the build.
I'll try and work something around and see what happens
Until or Unless we change salescode.dat to INS and flash indian csc file , we cannot get volte in our phone. i had same issue with my s8 us variant but with engboot i had change my salescode to "INS" but for s9 it has patched and we cannot change country code without any additional permissions

Differences between European/US/International ROMs?

Hi
I haven't found anything regarding this. Could someone tell me the differences between the ROMs?
I actually use a Chinese H1900 variant with international OOS and I was wondering if there is any benefit for me to use EU as I'm in France.
Thanks

Not really, eu rom lacks equilazer settings due to European laws. India rom have some specific benefits like cloud service 5gb. Other than that only hardware changes is band difference. Tested all on my hd1900. Using international

I don't think even hardware is different, the bands are just turned off in the firmware.

Just about to get a 7T and will need to flash either Global / Europe - do you think the equalizer settings are worth going with Global (currently run Bass Booster as 5T doesn't have equalizer either) or stick with Europe as UK based ?
Was there ever a full stock 10.0.6 International ROM posted? I flashed the European version when it was found but want to do a clean install and use International. The OP website only has 10.0.3 in the support page.

Since you have the HD1900, if you flash the EU or International rom, does it unlock the other lte bands? I'm considering buying the HD1900 version but everything I've read states that it lacks the lte bands I need (61 & 71).
Thanks!
Its definitely lacks those bands. Use Oxygen updater app from play store, there can be downloaded all latest updates. Just see in the startup menu what rom is currently on the device. Under my dwvice menu oneplus 7t is for international version, oneplus 7t( eu) is for European version and last will be oneplus ( India) India version. Then go to 3 dot menu and choose version you like to install same naming as the step before. Then select in update method full update, or try incremetal update if you don't see latest version of software now will be 10.0.6. Just follow instructions in the app and you will have new android version faster than the others. Using international version for two weeks no problems on my hd1900 Chinese verion of the phone.

Don't worry those bands are needed only in rural areas in Usa from my knowledge by far. If you live in Europe flash international you will have equilazer unlocked. Some users seem to don't have equilazer unlocked, so you will find only if you flash yourself.
One more thing before flashing. you will need to have (older) or the (same) version rom varian. No posible to downgrade.

I discovered it won't let me flash from the EU version to the International version (both 10.0.6). It sees the International version as being older than EU and prevents the flash. If anyone has an idea how to force it I'd love to hear!
Indian version have call recording, cricket scores, cloud storage, caller identification, sms visualization and few more i guess.
Not sure which of these features have reached other versions now.

You will need to wait for full version of international in app. Now is available only incremetal and thats the reason you can't flash.

Hi, i have the 7t hd1903 model. Can I flash through the local updater the European firmware over the global one with a Locked boot loader? (of course with the same firmware version) thank you
I always thought it was mostly hardware variations rather than software - mostly due to the LTE bands differ depending on the region.
OP's made it so it's not as attractive to buy a phone outside your region due to that. For example, on the original OP7, they left out a few critical bands T-Mo and AT&T needed here for full LTE compatibility. It would still work on the other bands, of course, but it may not work everywhere the US version would.
I think that's stupid, personally, but it seems to be more for marketing than anything else. I think it'd be less hassle to just have one phone with as many bands as possible, then just put different software on it to comply with the legal requirements of those markets.

I have the HD1905 which is US. It has the Indian OOS installed and has the call recorder enabled which I need. Does the US OOS ROM have this feature that you can enabled? If not, can it be done with Magisk modules for call recorder?

That's interesting. What about EU privacy laws makes it that they don't allow an audio equalizer?

The OOS native recording module gives you call recording on the US ROM, it's what I use.
Save the zip to your phone
You need to uninstall the module prior to any oos update. You can reinstall after the update.

[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP for Galaxy S10+ G975N Korean variant ONLY

For G975N there are 3 Android Q firmware versions released by samsung as BSKO, BSL7, and BTA4 from old to newest.
Only kernel source of BSKO is released currently (2020-03-01) which you can find here: https://opensource.samsung.com/uploadSearch?searchValue=g975n
This recovery image is built based on kernel BSKO (G975NKSU3BSKO) and it works with BTA4 firmware so it should work with all these 3 firmware versions.
Note: This image is not Magisk patched yet, if you need magisk to be installed in recovery partition you'd have to patch this image yourself first.

The G97xF version works on G97xN too no need for this thread.
The ones meant for F/FD Variants work on N devices. The only differences are some radio bands and CSC. plus the N Variant being sold as a single sim only just like the F.
Thanks though
long time ago I tried the twrp but not working for my g975n, so I thought it's still not supported.
could you delete this post @admin? thanks.

Via custom roms based on ONEUI with patched system and kernel. yes.
Via ODIN, you'd have to do some patching else it won't boot.
Can't exactly remember, but I had an N variant before.

Question Any Treble/GSI support?

Hi, i will probably upgrade to this phone and I was wondering if there are any custom roms or treble support for this device?
At the moment there aren't any custom recoveries for this device, as a result there are no custom ROMS available for flashing.
As for GSI's, if you have your bootloader unlocked you could use this GSI sideloader: github.com/VegaBobo/DSU-Sideloader
However, I am currently in the process of building a TWRP for this device, so perhaps custom ROM's will be available in the future...
If you do use the sideloader, i recommend: https://github.com/ponces/treble_build_pe/releases/tag/v412-plus and https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-19.x/ for the latest android 12l/12.1
