Hey guy I have an issue with my modem or lack of I should say. I am able to get the phone to work again by flashing back to the factory firmware and then I can install Omni rom, but any other rom I try I loose my Sim card and it won't let me connect. Does anyone have a modem.img they can share?
I think it's a bug of old Fastboot executable. If you use the latest tools from google to flash the rom, it should work correctly
It works with omni ROM and I got my platform tools from google but I will try to update is and run it once more.

I'm pretty new to all this, I had a Rogers Captivate that had been crashing on me. Everything suggests that if I changed my software it would work.
So I managed to to flash a newer AT&T ROM on to the phone via Odin. (I was pretty chuffed with myself)
However, as soon as I put my sim into it, it became locked. I paid an online service to get an unlock code, but the IMEI number I delivered to them didn't match the network, so I messed that up.
Now I've noticed that I could flash a rooted ROM via Odin, which should save me having to unlock, right ?
I went to the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621350 and looked for a suitable ROM (preferably supported).
I went for the PAC ROM, but noticed there is no tar file in the download.
The other ones I wanted to try either suggested it was flashed by another method than Odin (I might be wrong) or the download links for the files themselves were no longer working.
Also, there is talk about Gapps. What is this and what is the process for installing it ?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Hi there,
You'll need to specify that the phone is still on the Rogers network, as that's how they access the database. Ie., if you have a phone that was supplied to Rogers, the IMEI will be associated with Rogers and if you tell them it's ATT, they won't be able to find it - regardless of what ROM you're running.
Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware you do have to pay to unlock the ROM again but I'm not an expert on this - I know that I had the same problem you did and they told me to put it in as Rogers instead - that got me my unlock code.
I have a rooted Milestone 2 which is running JB now, and it is still operator locked unfortunately.
Apparently the GalaxSim Unlock tool is good but I don't know if it retains your IMEI - I know it does back up your EFS though. Maybe it's worth a try?
Before doing anything with your IMEI i suggest you to backup your efs folder. There's a software for this too.
[sent from my awesome Samsung Captivate Glide]
[AT&T rooted stock ROM]
thank you
Thanks for the feedback, I've reapplied for my unlock code.
What I'd really like to know now is which rooted ROM should I choose to flash via Odin ?

Hi hkcharlie,
Have a look at the below thread to unlock your sim card. I used it on mine and my friend's S3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846451
I suggest reading the "everything about captivate glide" thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621350
I use CWMR (ClockWork Mod Recovery) from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458153
You have to flash this acording to ODIN. Afterwards, you can download .zip files directly to your device for flashing, or download them on your computer and copy them to the devices SD card. Select them in recovery mode and they will install.
These two roms I've had a lot of success with:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945558
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2021374
They're both ICS. There is a cm10.1 JB (4.2.2) build as well, and it's *awesome* - but it is missing a few critical features so I won't recommend it for your first time.
Almost any ROM you flash from this forum will already be rooted. Being 'rooted' just means having a kernel that supports it (both ICS rom's above include a root-capable kernel) and a /bin/su and appropriate superuser apk.
Of course, back up your EFS - there are some apps on the market that will help you do this. And backup everything. And test your backup. And your warranty is void, your phone may explode, or impregnate you with mogwai. (do not get wet, do not feed after midnight.)
Happy flashing!
It is ridiculous from official huawei to left me my phone with old version 5.1.1.!!
i can understand why NO give us update .
Is anyone to now how to make update to 6.0 or better?
yes same problem, i can not update ! İ use lollipop -.-
Same here, I may wanna try CM 13.0 for Huawei Ascend G8 & GX8, have you tried this?
I've upgraded mine to Nougat.
First, I unlocked my phone. This did a factory reset, wiping all my apps.
Then I used TWRP to upgrade to a foreign official Marshmallow ROM (there is no official Marshmallow LROM for Australia, where I live). This ROM was not able to connect to my local phone network but otherwise seemed to work.
Then I installed a Resurrection Remix Nougat ROM on top of that and a Google apps package (LineageOS Nougat also works). To get RR or LineageOS to install, I had to go into the install ZIP file and delete the part of the install script that checks the model of the phone, because my phone (an Australian RIO-L02) reported its model name as "rio" instead of "RIO-L02". If you use the Google apps you should install them before the first time you boot into RR or LineageOS, because they change the setup thingy that runs the first time you use the phone.
My first few attempts ended in bootloop errors, probably because I was trying to install RR or LineageOS without a working ROM already on the phone or installing them over a different version of Android to the one the person who made the ROM expected me to have. Installing an official Marshmallow ROM before installing an unofficial Nougat ROM seemed to be the key to success.
Some of these steps were very complicated, but I followed instructions in other threads on these forums for each step.
RR and LineageOS are fully functional and have no problem connecting to my local phone network.
Hi..
Mine is RIO-L02C900B130 rom. and its on 5.1.1
no MM update available..
can i update to lineage ?
The problem currently i am having with sim card. only certain type of sim cards works.. on other type of sim cards it shows insert sim.
Regards..
Zenfone 2 Deluxe Special Edition
Model: Z00A
Before I unlocked, rooted, and flashed my current version, I had Android M - I believe it was Asus firmware version: WW-4.21.40.352
Current version: Groovy Android Android N (7.1.2) - GA-N-v7.1.2-20180612-Z00A-Release.zip
Apparently that was a big mistake and I should have downgraded to Android L before flashing Groovy Android Android N because there's a known issue related to the SIMs not being detected.
I can get my LTE connection to work if I physically remove and reinsert the SIM but that's obviously annoying. And I figured out how to play with the data/SIM settings to get it to register on the data network again but it keeps reverting back to having issues with the X over the LTE symbol and having no data connection.
I just picked Groovy Android because I didn't really know where to start and I wanted Android Nougat. I really want a dark themed Android Nougat but I haven't come across any custom ROMs that have that option. Any suggestions?
For now, I need to go back to Android L so I can flash Groovy Android again without SIM issues.
I downloaded UL-Z00A-WW-2.20.40.206-user.zip from Asus's website.
Can I simply go into TWRP, go into sideload mode, and then type adb sideload UL-Z00A-WW-2.20.40.206-user.zip from my PC?
Do I need to wipe any particular partitions before or after?
EDIT:
Oh also one of the reasons I wanted to try a custom ROM is because of all the bluetooth audio issues I was having. Every single ROM I've ever had on this phone, from the one it shipped with, through several OTA and updated firmwares from Asus's website that claim to "fix bluetooth stability", I've always had this issue where the audio just randomly cuts out while connected to my Soundbot SB360 receiver (I've had other devices and phones connected to it without issue). I've seen other people complain about it on Asus's forums with no real resolution.
That does not happen on my device. It's stable except for the crashed pie
I know I need to downgrade to stock Lollipop. So the question is, can I do that from TWRP, and how do I do it?
Did you back up your system partition before flashing Groovy Android?
If not: https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/guide-flash-stock-rom-asus-zenfone-2-t3588276

Either flash the firmware directlyhttps://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/guide-flash-stock-rom-asus-zenfone-2-t3588276, or restore that backup, flash stock MM recovery, lock the bootloader and downgrade by installing the 2.x "update" zip from ASUS's website.

I was reading over this guide yesterday and I'm going to try METHOD 2 using the Asus Flash Tool to flash WW_ZE551ML_2.20.40.206_20170627.raw which is the latest version of Lollipop.
Good afternoon.
I have moto g5s version xt1799-2 (version for the Chinese market) for stupidity, I installed Oreo from the European version of the device.
As a result, I upgraded the loader version to 12. On the phone from the factory is Android 7.1 ZUI, I wanted to go back to ZUI I did it just did not work mobile communication.
Using the files adspso. bin, NON-HLOS. bin, fsg. mbn from Oreo and the restore folder owners command, I was able to start mobile communication on the phone, But there was a problem the fingerprint stopped working (I can't downgrade the modem version).
Help me solve the problem...
Did you try flashing the phone with the China market based rom?
I can't find any, try searching for one, of one other option is to restore and use the universal stock rom, or use the stock rom in which fingerprint works, and then unlock is bootloader and install TWRP and then flash Lineage OS or the custom rom or your choice...
I have LG G8 Alexa variant. Model LM-G820QM.
I think ts on latest firmware "qm21e". Right now I live in India so the VoLTE is not working. I tried to cross-flash it to Open firmware but LGUP gave error "Cant change the device(AMZ_US > OPEN_US)".
I have three questions.
Can I cross flash Korean firmware ?
And if so, will i get VoLTE working ?
And my G8 has 2 cams while the Korean varient has 3 cams. Will my cams work with Korean firmware ?
Thank you.
Do you by any chance still have the OPEN_US Firmware?
I've been looking everywhere for it but I can't find it.

Download Android 10 Q KDZ stock firmware for download with direct link

I think any of this 2 are OPEN. If not then reply me back I will deep search on google. I happend to found it somewhere but can't remember where exactly.
Thanks for your reply
Unfortunately, neither one worked.
I tried the first one, however the flash tool didn't work because (OPEN_US_>NAO_US)
The second one would not download at all. I don't think it would have worked anyway since my phone is not the Alexa version. It's factory unlocked, purchased from Best Buy.
Hey man, I was able to figure out my problem! Not only that, I discovered one of the NAO_US Firmwares was actually OPEN_US, and that worked for my phone. I am now back up and running, with an unlocked bootloader and Root!
I appreciate your help, and I want to help you if I can.
As for the cross-flashing, you can't do it via LGUP. The only possible way is to download the firehose for your phone and to use the Qualcomm Image Flash Loader(QIFL) tool. You can extract the firmware you want to flash, and load all the images into the QIFL partition manager. There is no guarantee your phone will boot from it, but you can try it. NOTE: Do NOT modify the OP partitions! This will cause your phone to throw an OPID mismatch error and it won't boot!
As for the cameras, you may be able to extract the current Camera APK from your phone and install that on the Korean firmware so that you are still able to use them. No guarantee this will work, and they might work fine with the Korean camera APK, but it's worth doing before you flash.

I see, but I just want VoLTE to work. I don't mind using stock rom or custom rom too. So keeping that in mind what do you suggest? And also, Do you think that your solution " I discovered one of the NAO_US Firmwares was actually OPEN_US, and that worked for my phone. I am now back up and running, with an unlocked bootloader and Root! " could work for me too ? If so do let me know how did you figured that NAO_US was actually OPEN_US. Maybe I can find out one for AMZ_US.
On the box Model : G820QM
SKU : G820QM8 (QM8 stands for AMZ)
Thank you.
I'm really not sure how VoLTE works internally, so I couldn't tell you if using another firmware would actually work for you - but the way I found out one of the firmwares was actually OPEN_US was by extracting it using the KMZ extractor tool someone made. This is how I was able to reflash the partition on my phone that I screwed up on in the first place and created a brick with. Like I said, you could manually reflash all those partitions one-by-one in QFIL, but i don't recommend it as it may not even work and could potentially brick your device. It's really up to you in this case, if you'd like to try though:
Download the firmware you want to try, search for KZM extractor on Google, download QFIL and all of it's prerequisites, and finally the firehose.
Use the KZM extractor and place the firmware inside of it.
Once it is done extracting all the files, put your phone into download mode and open QFIL
NOTE: DO NOT FLASH THE PARTITIONS WITH 'OP' IN THEM! Your phone won't boot for sure!
From QFIL use the firehose file and manually, one by one, sort through the output files of the KZM extractor and find the partitions that match their name and flash them with the file.
Zero guarantees this will work, and you may end up with a brick for a phone at the end of the day, but if you're that desperate it just might work.
Hi there.
I am still looking for solutions for VoLTE to work. I googled a lot and came on this post " https://piunikaweb.com/2021/06/07/unlocked-lg-g8-thinq-now-supports-att-volte-after-april-update/ "
Mine is Amazon version "QM8". Yet I did received april update via OTA. But still no VoLTE. I can OEM unlock from devs. Can I flash AT&T "QM7" on Amazon "QM8" ?
What do you think of this please let me know.
Thank you
VoLTE seems to depend on files in the OP partition, so crossflashing other partitions but not OP will not get VoLTE to work. LGUP will not allow crossflashing.
See my experience to get working VoLTE and Wifi Calling: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-g8-volte-fix.4113291/post-85455109
You will need to be bootloader unlocked and rooted.
