[Q] Atom Life wake up with other buttons

I used to have an XDAII (the very first) where the unit could be woken up by pressing any button. There was a setting in the control panel that allowed you to set it to only recongnize the power button or have the other buttons wake it up. Naturally I set it to the power button, but after a while, that button got worn down and stopped "working" so I naturally set it to recognize any other button.
This experience has taught me the hard way, that its a good choice to have (or maybe even a necessity in some cases) that other buttons to wake the unit up in case of situations like this.
I've just bought an Atom life and unfortunately it ONLY recognizes the power button to wake the unit up. Is there any hack or software out there that could enable the other buttons (or better yet, allow selection of which buttons can turn the unit on)?
I'd like to use the large middle button on the front if possible, since that button seems more "sturdy" than the power button. I may be able to save that poor power button from years of wear and tear.
just realized i posted in the wrong section. Moderators, feel free to move it to the parent Atom section, and my sincerest apologies
Hi, nargalzius
I have been search for decade, but i still cannot find the way to assign other button for waking up da device......
same problem here...
anybody out there figured this one out already?
bump
did anybody find a hack for this?
I have just the opposite problem. I use the headphones that come
with the Atom Life - the button on it not only turns on the device.. if
you bang the mouth piece on something (without hitting
the button), it turns it on too!! I'd love a solution to that
I use O2 Flame and got the same setting, no other hard key than the power button can wake up the device from sleep. Anyone knows the tricks or registry hacks, please share. Thank you very much.
Atom Life Wakeup Button
Hi guys, there doesn't seem to be an answer on here and I assume the reason is as follows - Atom Life also wakes up by pressing the "end" key... (I think this is a general hardware setup)
I was also a bit weary of the power button being worn out, so I did some experimentation and found that the end button works a treat if you have the same concern "end - s2u"... swweeet!
Hope this helps.

You mean when the phone is in standby mode and you press the END key, the phone will come out of standby? Beats the whole purpose of standby then
I do echo the same "problem" of not being able to change the mapping of the power button to the front button.. ( as I was able to do with my XDA II)
I 'm confused about the "end" key solution..
Anyone finding a solution ?
Thank you all
Nearest program might be MORT saver? it allows you to specify the button that put the device in to MORT stand by and therefore the same button that will awake the device. Not exactly the power button option that you talk of wanting but at least MORT also stops the device from waking up when any of the buttons around the action button are pressed.

I was about to apply the 3-button combo fix....

Hi guys, I flashed to JM8 but when I tried to root my phone, I couldn't get into recovery or download modes. And then the 3-button combo fix was out. Just before I was going to risk it, I found if I remove the external sd card and SIM card, both combo are back!
I hope this is an useful piece of information. But maybe everybody knows it already...
I highly doubt about this.
Maybe just bad timing/pressing keys.
well, admittedly, recovery mode is bit of tricky, but download mode is just impossible to miss. It could have something to do with removing battery before taking out SIM card. But this is someting people shoud try out before taking the risk of 3-button combo fix
It could be the fact people are trying to press all button togeather and not getting the timing right.
Little do they know all you have to do is hold in the vol down + home buttons
Then press and hold the power button.
Works everytime.
Same for recovery mode. Hold in vol up + home buttons.
Then press and hold the poer button.
I have never failed doing it this way but fail a lot when trying to press all the buttons at once.
It is a legitimate issue. You are not smarter than everyone else, just lucky enough to have purchased a device without this issue.

Pretty much how it is. The volume is a rocker switch so it has a little more give. The power switch is just a single switch. It'll probably loosen up a bit over time though.
Let's think this way -
Volumen button does nothing when the screen is off.
But power button is everything. If it's pressed accidently in your pocket or bag, you may find out your phone's battery is almost empty after a while when you pulled it out from you pocket.
So, I believe it's designed like that to prevent any unexpected action.

[Q] Power button malfunction

After some beverage poured into the tablet, the power button behaves like a Volume (+) button.
When my Nexus is shut down, long pressing the power button boots into recovery.
Is there any way to use the Volume (+) button as wake/sleep button, when booted up?
Would help me aswell, since I managed to get custom recovery und custom rom working.
Please Help..
Hello,
I am sorry to hear that your power button is longer functioning in the way it is supposed to. IF you are unable to find a resolution to your issue you may need to send it in to be repaired. If you are located in North America I would be more than happy to assist you with this process. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] and place case number N140844831 in the subject line for reference.

Broken power button workaround to turn on.

So I have a OnePlus 3 since it was released and my power button started not working properly about a year ago.
And today I found out that the power button was not working at all anymore no matter how hard I pressed.
At first it was clicking twice instead of once (shortcut to open the camera), or I had to press it very hard to make it work.
I found some workarounds (double tap to wake, double tap to lock, etc).
So when the device is powered on, it's fine I can do everything I need.
The problem is when I need to poweroff the device (changing sim card) or when it runs out of battery.
On some other threads people say to hold the volume down button and to plug the phone to a computer.
But it doesn't work for me, when I do that the device goes to the bootlogo (before the romlogo) and is stuck there.
Any help or idea appreciated.
Also I am not willing to change the power button because it seems hard to take apart the device according to this tutorial : https://fr.ifixit.com/Tutoriel/OnePlus+3+Power+and+Volume+Button+Assembly+Replacement/76019
I am on Lineage16 if that can help.
I feel you. I have broken power button since august... Found workarouns like you. But for me, power button starts to work after one or two weeks so i think it is software issue. But about replacing power button you are really wrong. OnePlus 3 is one of the easiest phones to repair. The thing is, you dont need heat gun to warm adheasive... You just take out screws and pop out the screen. This is kinda one of the reason why i took my phone so i can change battery with no problems or do any other repair by myself. But in the past 3 year i did not need to take apart my phone ?*. You can look up jerryrigeverything he tears down oneplus3 and shows everything step by step. Its indeed really easy, compared to other phones.
Plz answer this then I have replaced power and volume ribbon cable twice with new ones and my power button still not working volume is fine though and I want to unlock bootloader but without power button I can not select the option to do so?
