Is there anyway to enable 5G support on the 7T? - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Just wondering, I saw a thread where people talked about it being done with other 855/855+ devices...

No. 7T does not have a 5G modem. 855+ is just 5G ready.

Meaning? Does 5G ready just mean that it could've supported a 5G modem?

No.

US Models Note 10/Note 10+ Crossflash????

Did anyone get the chance to see nomenclatures of US models? I'm mainly concerned about cross flashing, really hope it's gonna be possible this time around, unlike the s10 5g.
I think them days are long gone with the bootloaders been locked down for the US models
We've known the nomenclatures for a long time, ever since before the FCC filings. Standard Note 10 and Note 10+ will behave the same as Note 9 - crossflashing included. I've already posted both U and U1 firmware

If it's signed by samsung wouldnt it not matter?

10 and 10+, yes. 10+ 5g will only be Verizon as the radio is different and only supported on their network. So you can cross flash any Note 10 as long as it's not the 5g.
I know I am uneducated when it comes to these sorts of things and I apologize for my ignorance but if either of you could fill me in, I would love to know what exactly "crossflashing" is?

Flashing other carrier or unlocked firmware to your device since hardware wise there is no difference.
Example. On the note 9, ATT builds leaked early on quite a bit so if you wanted the latest before it was officially released you could flash it to your device as long as it was the same processor.
Even applied to the Pie beta that released for the unlocked models.

I attempted this on an S6 and could never successfully get the modems/radios to right... or maybe I had the data misconfigured? Who knows... but that is remarkable! If you don't mind me asking one more simple question, does this trip knox? Because I'd love to have the unlocked firmware on my VZW but I'm not sure of any specifics on the warranty. Although, I know if I ever DO have to send it in, I'll just brick it from the inside with wrong firmware.

Nah. It won't trip Knox since the firmware being flashed is signed by Samsung.
You can always flash back to stock as well. Stock in this case being the software it shipped with.

S6s are not cross-flashable. Samsung didn't start that until the S7 and Note 8
it would've been awesome since in the FCC docs shows that N975F (Exynos LTE) and N976B (Exynos EU 5G) have identical hardware!
also Verizon is using the SAME SKU model codes for both LTE and 5G models
i posted the details in reddit earlier (r/galaxynote10 titled "Crossflashing LTE <-> 5G Models?" sorry i can't posts link....10 post count thingy)
worth the shot?

1. N975F and N976B can't have identical hardware. The 5G model has 5G antennas, and the 4G model does not. I can guarantee you that firmware will not be cross-flashable between those 2 models.
2. Verizon is NOT using the same SKU codes for the 4G and the 5G models. The 4G model is N975U and the 5G model is N976V. I can guarantee you that firmware will not be cross-flashable between those 2 models.

I could not possibly be eyerolling any harder right now.
I'm sure that as far as the 4G hardware is concerned, yes, most of it is the same, same location, etc. But the FCC IDs for the 4G and 5G models are NOT the same. I promise you that the 4G models do NOT have a 5G antenna, and you will never be able to flash 5G firmware to a 4G device.

That's what I suspected initially, is that they meant the hardware is identical in the scope of that report, in other words, "as far as LTE is concerned". especially since the 5g chip is external to the SoC.
About verizon, to be clear, am not mindlessly hoping for a "free 5g", as clearly its not the case in hardware; but how would you explain Verizon using SM-N976VZKAVZW for the LTE SKU and SM-N976VZWAVZW for the 5G sku? is it simply a typo in samsungs' support website?

Hello guys, I have a chance to buy a cheap sm-n976v with bad imei. Phone is locked by Verzion. I'm living in UK and I wonder if I flash the phone with sm-n976b firmware can I get it unlocked and fully working? Sammobile said that should be exactly same model. What is a difference between V and B firmwares? Or is better to pay for unlocking the phone instead flashing it? Can I flash it with European version without broke it?

You cannot flash any other firmware to that model - and even if you could, solely flashing firmware would not SIM unlock it. I can give you a recommendation for a 3rd party unlocking source if needed
Probably that will be better in this case. Thanks

S20 Ultra LTE.. No5G :crying:

i just recently received my s20 ultra LTE, there is no 5G enable. just want to know is this software limitation or that 5G modem is missing in my phone. its powered with exynos 990.
depends on what market you're living!
4G ultra might offer significant better battery life since the external 5g modem is disabled. we need to wait and check
Possibility your SIM is is not 5g ready?

What speed are you getting on 4G?
Tbh if it's anything like the UK then you'll have more than enough speed and better battery life.
The phone capable of 5G (network permitting) but do we really need it? Similar to the ram, do we need 12-16GB? Lol, not really.
Run a does test, see what you get.
175Mb down? Lol that's slow for me..

Question C band for Verizon? Future of 5g

Does anyone know if this phone or the regular one plus nine will have c-band for verizon? I'm considering getting this phone, currently on verizon, trying to decide between the nine and nine pro
I hope OnePlus 9 Pro will work on any 5g bands.
8 pro does NOT !
I talk with OnePlus and they say that will be fixed on future updates. That was last year..

What are those of you on verizon doing? Buying this or regular oneplus 9?
The 9 pro currently doesn't work on Verizon or att 5g network. It works on their 4g lte. It is only certified on T-Mobile 5g network.

i have no idea. i think it could change for verizon but at&t is very strict about what they are letting on their 5g network.
I spoke with an agent at One Plus and they said the 9 pro would be compatible with Verizon's 5G network out of the box.
Also chatted with a verizon agent, and they said I would just need to put a verizon 5G sim in it.
Interesting. I guess we'll see?
Do we think it will work on the ultra fast portion of their 5g band?

who knows, knowing verizon, they'll find a way to gum up the works. when I go to activate the device next week, I'll give an update.
This is from the one plus website, under carrier compatibility:
Verizon: Support Band (LTE): 2/4/5/13/46/48/66 Support Band (NR) n2/n5/n66
The 9 Pro currently supports Low and mmWave 5G on Verizon, C-Band is disabled, however you can enable it using QPST but you will not have a UW icon.

I do, I did it on my 9 Pro, highest speed I've gotten 670Mbps down, however I'm gonna be honest, it's too complicated (for me) to write out on here, and too dangerous to accidentally mess something up, I'd wait till someone who knows how to explain things on here, writes it up.
I know that OnePlus has C-Band (N77) disabled in the software, however you can enable it with QPST, I did on my 9 Pro and running a speed test, the fastest speeds I got was around 670Mbps, however, the only issue I have is that I cannot figure out how to make it show the 5G UW icon from mmWave, I know the phone has it, is there any way for me to manually enable the 5G UW icon for C-Band (N77) with QPST? Can it be enabled with root (Magisk)?
Second question, do you guys think OnePlus will enable C-Band on the 9 Series? Will it be Oxygen OS 12 exclusive, or will they send out 1 more Oxygen OS 11 update (11.2.11.11)?
Why do you keep referencing this mod, but you won't detail how you performed the mod. Or at least post a link to the instructions?

Because I suck at explaining things, I definitely don't have the patience to write out a detailed tutorial, and I don't want the guilt of possibly bricking someone's phone, which is why I keep saying people should wait till someone patient enough writes a tutorial.

Question Oneplus 9 pro telus 5G

Hi, I have a question about telus 5G, anyone can connect telus 5G network? I don't even have 5G switch in setting.
thank you!
I have a OP9 and same issue. Data is also very slow but that could be a separate issue.
If it's available/provisioned to your SIM, I'd assume that setting your Preferred Network Type to the variant that includes 5G should allow it to be received.
I support some clients on Telus, but I'm not well versed in how they're rolling out 5G and/or what bands they're using, etc.

That's unfortunate. I swear I remember my OnePlus 8 Pro being 5G compatible though. I never saw it in the status bar but it was an option inside settings. Strange that the 9 is not seeing 5G anywhere.
Maybe someone will come out with some kind of mod or tool to force 5G.
Hola
Sad situation this is. Stranger still is that I had a Xiaomi Mi 10 last year and I was able to get 5G in certain locations. And at one point Telus was the least restrictive when it came to VoLTE and WiFi Calling enablement on non-Telus branded phones.

It's on sale on Brazil with the reference SM-G780GZBRZTO here.
Have not twrp and custom rom for this model yet?
there's nothing for that specific model yet, it's only been on-sale a couple of days
It's also on sale in France, here.
However, i face big issues when i use the front camera in Snapchat, it's so zoomed in, even in comparison of the "full" mode in apn (i know that Snapchat uses the full mode and not the 3/4, which makes the selfie more zoomed, but here it's apparently not just that).
Do you guys have experienced the same problem, or is it just me ?
Can I make a unnoficial TWRP for this model? I want this to make root for this model.
