LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Right on eamo5! Thank you for continuing the taimen builds! I have the Pixel 3XL as well but honestly, my 2XL blows it away, I am not ready to move on from my 2XL so I really appreciate the new ROM builds!
Great job devs! Thank you for your dedication!

I have to ask, why do you immeditely think you need to fiddle with an alternate kernel?

I agree, I never understood why users are so quick to try/use 3rd party kernels. I normally test drive the built-in kernel for whatever ROM I am using for at least a week or so, then if anything, I will use EX Kernel (through the paid app) but its also freely available I believe.

Can someone, anyone, try to (re)mount /system in RW? I need to know if /system is dedup'd and not able to remount in RW. I need to write files to /system and thats only possible in RW. I am not 100% on this ROM yet (back and forth) and right now on a different OS and forgot to check. This is the deciding factor so if anyone could just simply try to remount /system in RW, I would greatly appreciate it! I use FX File Explorer with ROOT add-on for RW, but any file manager will work. Its not so easy for me to flip back and forth with my work MFA profiles otherwise I would just redo LOS 18 and test it myself. I literally rolled over the OS last night and it took a few hours so I am not ready to redo the work again unless /system is RW so thats why I cant do it myself right now. If no one answers in a few days, I will probably try it again but I would rather make it a final build attempt, not a test build attempt as it takes hours to redo the MFA's.
Thanks in advance!

Kernel support
A lot of people are asking why alternate kernels. I have a valid reason and its for Kcal support. @Eamo5 will this ever happen? I absolutely love night light and can't live without it at night. (late night surfer)
Thanks again for all of your hard work!

NOTICE:
ArrowOS 9.x comes with kernel 4.4 and requires a newer bootloader from ZUI3.5 or above. Apart from this, this rom is full treble ( will be FULL TREBLE in the future so that anyone can use it as base for Generic System Image ) hence it requires a latest OFFICIAL TWRP which supports /factory mounted as vendor
PLEASE! READ THE SECOND POST for all the information and steps. Thank you

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
How to flash treble roms having /factory instead of /vendor?
* First time custom rom flasher/ coming from ZUI / Never flashed treble rom / Never flashed factory2vendor patch
1. Flash Treble TWRP ( which supports /factory )
2. Flash ROM + GApps etc
* Coming from roms for which you had done factory2vendor conversion
1. Flash Vendor2factory zip
2. Flash new TWRP with /factory support
It will work for both non treble like zui , and treble roms having /factory instead of vendor support
( https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603913223 )
3. IMPORTANT STEP : Reboot to new TWRP
4 Flash rom
5. No need to wipe if coming from same rom
Or
1. Flash ZUI via QFIL
2. Flash TWRP ( which supports /factory )
3. Flash rom
updated information on 03/02/2019
[A copy paste of a message from Dd3boh in Telegram]
IMPORTANT INFO
So, the other day me and Kuber were talking about treble related things and the current hassle/issues. Hence we thought of moving back to /factory instead of /vendor treble implementation to avoid all this (vinavil, kenny, faiz, yaro also somewhat agreed)
Moving back to /factory instead of /vendor implementation to avoid the extra hassle, pain and improvements over the current treble implementation
So, what might be the benefits of such change:
* Just one TWRP for treble, non treble roms like zui [ also Official TWRP might be updated will treble support]
* There will be no need to flash patches for factory to vendor conversion
* Anyone who unlocks bootloader, or a new guy to custom roms will have to flash no patches, no tricky steps, just flash rom and done
* It will make our treble implementation cleaner and might help fasten process to try making LineageOS official

There are were 2 build lines for ArrowOS 9.x :- One with Kernel 3.18 ( not anymore supported after 25th December update) and other with Kernel 4.4
ArrowOS with kernel 3.18 is now deprecated from 25th December build ( For easy identification, i have renamed all the 3.18 kernel builds and added "3.18" after ArrowOS-9.0 tag, and now all the new builds will come with Kernel 4.4.
Starting from, January 2019, all the builds will come with Kernel 4.4
Faced a green screen/blue screen when flashing ArrowOS 4.4 kernel build first time?
Remember, that Kernel 4.4 require a newer bootloader, so you will have to QFIL ZUI 3.5 or above.

A. No. You can still use them, but the discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Why doesn't this ROM support Xposed?
A. Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be discussed in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports.
Q. Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A. You will need to use the version arm64/arm/whatever for SDK 27.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the install instructions in the first post...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, however make a nandroid backup first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs. Also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q. How do I dirty flash builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to preform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot", then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to loose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to loose root. Now swipe to flash, and then reboot.
Using the ROM:
Q. I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A. In TWRP, flash the substratum rescue zip that's in the substratum folder on the internal storage.
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. and do not post the content here. Thanks.
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, GApps, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM Zipfile.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
- Backup your personal data (Important)
- Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
- Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
- Wipe the System, Cache, Data and ART/Dalvik cache.
- Flash the ROM + Gapps Zipfile.
- Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
- Reboot your device.
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once!
The root solution should be flashed together with every update (= ROM Update)
Currently Supported Root Solutions:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions higher than 14.0 doesn't require flash on every dirty flash depending on the device, some devices need you to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise it should be fine

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

Fastboot into TWRP recovery (fastboot boot twrp.img)
Flash the latest build of Lineage OS
Reboot to bootloader and fastboot TWRP again
(Optional) Flash gapps of choice (OpenGapps micro or smaller are recommended)
Reboot to system and don't install the TWRP app
(Optional) Flash custom kernel / TWRP / Magisk

Thank you for keeping our pixel alive when the next update to fix all these errors greeting I would like to make a donation for this project.
I'll definitely be watching this project. While I wont install it for now due to the few bugs it does have, I'm sure all of you have done a great job so far.
Thank you for all the ports you make!
Can't wait to try 17! Thank you very much for supporting our phones.
Will be watching development keenly and will jump in once it's more stable. Cheers for doing this bud. ?
i tried the permissive version, couldn't ever get it to boot up.... wonder if it's the version of TWRP i was using (3.3.0.0) i might have to try an older version... i did see some permission errors during the install... (should have taken a picture) i'm prob. headed back to your lineage 16 build for now... thanks for this though... really looking forward to it. thanks
just a side note about TWRP - really wish they would disable the screen timeout option by default.....
i'm flashing lineage 16.... screen goes black.... can't get it back on at all.... had to force reboot and start over....
that's happened on a LOT of other phones too (i've been using cyanogenmod a LONG time).... aggrivating default feature (just a suggestion to maybe put in any future instructions to go into TWRP settings and disable that crap) / rant over lol sorry

Small question regarding the GPS, on LOS 16.0 i have to set enforcing to off to get continual tracking to work, will this be addressed in this ROM?

Can you post builds without GApps please? Literally the only reason I use Lineage OS is because I can choose to have a Google-free experience, and your ROM doesn't give me that option. Kinda goes against Lineage's philosophy, no? People can flash GApps packages if they like, but it's impossible to remove GApps from a package. Thanks!

Have you ever tried flashing gapps on an a/b partition phone?
I think having both posted would make more sense, though that's a lot of work for maybe one or two outliers.

Have you ever tried to remove GApps from a ROM that contains them?
I disagree with you on the front that having a separate build without GApps is more work because when Lineage is built from source, it's built without GApps. Technically, adding GApps to the finished ROM manually is more work; not to mention that adding GApps to the ROM makes updates much larger to download and install.
I get that including Google apps makes it one step easier for a lot of users, but it also takes away choice for a lot of security-centric users, and those that may not want all of the Google apps pre-installed on this ROM.
And isn't the whole point of Android and LineageOS choice?

So build your own without? Again you're a drop in a bucket of water.

Apologies if I came off as combative, I was just making a suggestion to the developer of this ROM that I think more than a "drop in a bucket of water" of people would also appreciate. Thank you for your suggestions though, and have a nice day!

MicroG addon
microG info
MicroG is an open source replacement of the google play services(without all the Telemetry and other crap that google does in the background)
what works with the mcrog patch:
- youtube app
- google maps
what doesn't work:
- apps that use sign in with google
- license checking
what this zip contains:
microG
Aurora Store and Aurora Services (open source play store client)
FakeStore
GoogleCalendarSync
GoogleContactsSync
UnifiedNlp
OpenWeatherMapProvider
GoogleBackupTransport
right now the installer won't add the permissions unless you install it before first boot or factory reset.

update
I have rebuild all the from devices with a clean build env. I got it tested on an h815 and it works (still has slow boot times...). more info here
Any chance of getting it without MicroG
I hate when people are forcing me to adopt stuff that isn't made for everyone.
Let me chose what I like for google play and file manager and so.
Don't impose me your own stuff!!!!

Don't bother I won't attempt to install on my three G4 until MicroG is out of the ROM.
I think I may build my own to test it.
Thanks still.

ok, I understand.. in a feature build i will make it a an option to install microG with an Aroma Installer.
btw:
if you are making your own roomservice.xml you need to add this to it or else your build will fail.
@sciss1968
I decided to make two different rom zips in the next update. one with microG and one without it. no aroma.

Is this pie?
Installed on one of my H812-USU with Videolag patch
Initial boot was scary.
It took close to 10 minutes.
Will test my usual stuff and let you know how well it is running compare to HavocOS
---------- Post added at 03:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 AM ----------
I will reinstall Havoc until this is fixed.
I'm mainly building H812 for pokemon players that are spoofing.
2nd boot was also very long. 4-5 minutes.
---------- Post added at 03:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:12 AM ----------
Not very stable.
Fdroid.. Isn't nice too
I really need to build this myself.
Thanks anyway.

yes
New builds are building
It will be done in approximately 1 to 2 days (I have a crappy computer)
Added stuff
added default permissions for Lawnchair, MiX, and Blackplayer
new wallpaper
remove microG from rom(making its own addon installer without the play store)
update Lawnchair to 2 2.1-2616-ci-q-pre-alpha
add PotatoNotes
Known Bugs still in this build
slow boot times
sorry I don't have the setup for you guys to see the build progress. I could set up a Jenkins build server but that will take up more resources.
Update
I made an error when so I had to restart my build
also, I added the thermal handling changes that steadfasterX made. so maybe our devices will run cooler!
so, unfortunately, it will be a day or two until the builds are done
UPDATE
The builds are done. you can download them here

I think I know why it not stable for you, I did not clean up my build env after each build was done. Unfortunately, that means that I will have to build again...

The file names have fajita(~1.1 gb) and enchilada(~894 mb). Both Gapps build.
Flashed on fajita and it works! With crDroid it was not possible to make a call or receive calls (line busy all the time)
One problem only: no notifications when screen if off. Can't find what setting might be a cause of it. Any suggestion?
Thanks alot for your amazing work!!
