Sprint 3aXL Root - Google Pixel 3a XL Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have a 3aXL through sprint. The bootloader appears to be locked: "OEM Unlocking" "Unavailable on carrier locked devices." Is there a way to root this thing?
Thank you .

Get Sprint to unlock it... If it is carrier locked, you can't unlock the bootloader, but once it is unlocked you can do an OEM unlock and root to your hearts content (except Verizon models).
No real way around that at this time, but must get it unlocked from the carrier.

Removing the SIM lock (which is what you appear to be referring to) does not give one the ability to unlock the bootloader. However, I believe unlocking the bootloader will also remove the SIM lock. I can't say for sure, since my version of the Play (R800x, the Verizon CDMA one) does not use a SIM card at all.
Thanks for the answer!

Pixel 2 xl is carrier of verizon But i cant access the verizon. so, is there alternate way to enable oem unlock and unlock the bootloader.
The Verizon Pixel 2XL bootloader cannot be unlocked and there are no alternate methods of unlocking it. As a result the only real options are to use the device as is or sell it

Unlock bl Verizon

Hey guys someone You know unlock bl on Verizon devices?
You can't unless you've found some specific loophole... All verizon devices are permanently bootloader locked unless an exploit is found.

Unlocking Bootloader VZ Device but with International Firmware

Hello,
I've got a refurbished Pixel 3 XL with an US VZ Board. The interesting thing is that on this device is the normal variant of the firmware installed without any Verizon stuff. So now I wanted to unlock the bootloader and OEM Unlocking is greyed out. So my thought now is that maybe the device was bootloader unlocked to flash the firmware variant without Verizon stuff and then relocked. Without Verizon firmware there shouldn't be anything blocking OEM Unlocking.
Am I right that I just need to wait about 7 days before I am allowed to enable OEM Unlocking?
Tell me if I'm wrong with something.
Thanks

Pixel problems caused by Verizon.

My pixel 3 XL bought and paid for is still locked. Actually it was a mess when an update to os12 from os10. Now I've fixed that with new self loaded updates.
What I can't figure out is why has there not been a law suit against Verizon for not carrier unlocking my phone and make it almost impossible to unlock my bootloader.
To me Verizon has held me hostage to their service. That's called Monopoly.. I've called and they say it's unlocked. I sent them pics of the locked notice . It is my phone now and nothing should be unavailable to my wants.
Any suggestions on any issues. Unlocking my bootloader is most important.
Thanks
There is carrier unlocking and bootloader unlocking and they are two very different things.
Carrier unlocked means that you are free to take your device and use it on a different carrier. If you bought the device through Verizon, your device can usually be carrier unlocked once the device is paid off in full. You can buy carrier unlocked phones (like from Google) and bring them to the carrier of your choice.
Bootloader unlocked means that you have unlocked the bootloader and are able to install the operating system of your choice. Pixel phones bought from Google's store without association of a carrier have a trivial process to unlock the bootloader. Devices bought from Verizon or with a Verizon sim card are generally shipped with an encrypted bootloader meant to prevent you from unlocking the bootloader. It might be possible to unlock them, but generally people don't waste their time trying. Verizon will not let you unlock the bootloader.
