Hi I've been researching and trying to unlock and root my device since the day that I bought it about 2 weeks ago. It's a great device but i can't live without root.
I've tried doing a fastboot oem unlock but to no avail, it gives me a command unrecognised error. I've tried using all other exploits for Android 4.3 and no success either. I've taken photos and screenshots should a developer here is able to assist. Thank you.
Model: Asus Fonepad K012
Android Version: 4.3
Processor: Intel
Any help to resolve this issue is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Yeah..waiting to root this device!!
Sent from my K012 using XDA Free mobile app

Use RootZenFone.apk to root.... Google it and you can find the links....
I can confirm that it worked on a 7" asus fonepad k012.
There is no root specifically for V 11.10.1.43 Android 4.4.2, Not even RootZenfone works for V43, but finally after searching for about three months I found a way to have a root for this tablet.
I have to remind you that I am no mod or programmer, I just read hundreds of comments and posts from others so all the credits goes to them that unfortunately I can't name them all.
Of course the main credit goes to @Shakalaka for making and providing RootZenfone.
Disclaimer:
* Warranty is void.
* I don’t guarantee that this will work.
* It maybe cause bad effects to your tablet.
* You are responsible for any damages or other issues that may arise directly or indirectly because of this.
* Very important: All your data and programs will be lost!
(If you like make a backup)
Steps:
1. Download Firmware 11.10.1.41 From Asus website.
Here’s the address: ASUS
This is important: Do not download other versions like 38 or 43, just 41, only 41!
Remember to download only your specific device firmware. Like WW only for WW or CN only for CN.
How to know that? Settings->About-> Software information.
So if you are WW, you have to download Version WW_V11.10.1.41 that is around one Gb.
2. The file you downloaded is a zip file. There is another zip file inside it with the same name. Extract it. So you have a zip file that there is folders and files inside it.
3. Rename this zip file (UL-K019-WW-11.10.1.41-user.zip) to MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip. Use exact naming with upper case and that under line(_).
4. Place MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip in to root of your micro sd card, no folders just in the root of micro sd.
5. Turn off your tablet, push and keep the power and volume + at the same time and after you see ASUS logo release them both. Now you are in “Droid boot”.
6. With Vol+ or Vol- navigate to “Recovery” then click Power to select. Your device will automatically update (actually downgrade) to V 11.10.1.41 that you can Root.
7. Go to Settings--> Security--> enable “Unknown sources”.
8. Download RootZenfone 1.4.6.8r form here or sakalaka's own website here and install it. Disable and forget WiFi and go to Airplane Mode. Open RootZenfone and click to root. After 10 seconds reboot your device.
9. Very important: After rooting make sure RootZenfone is in “survival mode activated” if not click to activate.
The whole concept is this:
TO ENABLE THE ROOT TO REMAIN AFTER UPDATE!
So make sure it’s on survival mode or all you did would be useless.
10. If You did all right, now you have a V41 Rooted tablet. Turn on WiFi an check for Update. There will be an Update for V43 that is around 28 Megs. Update.
Only update OTA
DO NOT update offline to V43!
11. If tablet didn’t find the update just do a factory reset then update will be there.
12. Voila, Rooted FE375CG 11.10.1.43
Works

Happy that my post was helpful.
Well, about Lollipop I'm sure that the Root won't remain after upgrade because it's totally different from KitKat.
Finding Root for Lollipop is another matter, that I think is very probable. Of course still we have to wait a little more for Lollipop itself.
Good Luck
It works
Thanks for the root method.
It works perfectly for me. I've updated the firmware 11.10.1.43 and the root is always there.
Titanium Bakup is up and perfectly running.

Hi,
Xmodgames does not support Bluestacks(or other Android emulators)/ASUS zenfone 5(or other intel-based processors)/X86/Samsung enforcing devices with Android Lollipop at present(Samsung enforcing solution please refer to NO.18). We are working on that now. Please be patient.

Hallo Cadusir!
Trank You for your very Helpfull Tuturial to Root Fonepad7!
I have do a Mistake! I have rooted my fonepad with your tuturial with Firmware .41! But then the fould, i have make the System to that what i want, - i have ereased and moved many apps, and all fine! But when i try first time OTA-Update, the Update was found(How You say, it was around 28Megabytes), and as i try to install, it failed! Update-Routine starts, find Update-Package and beginn install, but than Update Abort!? Since that, Fonepad dont find anymore the OTA-Update when i try! I think, i had making first the root on .41, second Update to .43, and THEN Delete/Move apps and make the System i want!
My Question: You have writen in the tuturial, dont make offline-update! Can You say why! Is only the root gone after offline-update, or dont go offline-update at all!? And Perhabs You have a Solution!
Many Thanks to You!

Hi everyone. I am new and I agree that I am complete noob in this field. I have never did any update to my stock vibe p1 ROM because it runs very smoothly and I never encountered a single issue like other users had. Now I want to just Root it but I don't want any upgrades( in terms of version update). I know that this question may have been answered earlier but all the listed method is so confusing. Can anyone please just put the step by step instruction on how to root my vibe p1 and please share the link of the necessary files in this thread. I am sorry for wasting your time but I need to root it to gain access to my network settings. Thanks in advance.

Now... write here what your system is, like what is written in: Settings/About phone/Device information/Build number.

Thanks for reply. That is the exact thing I meant when i called myself noob. My build is p1a_42_s137_151028_ROW. I did mentioned I got confused though I know this is not a new topic. I think the process (in the link) is for upgrades and what I want is just root because I never got a 100% satisfied user after any upgrades let it be via ota(starting with 30mb patch) or custom Row. My handset works perfectly fine. No lag no heating , no battery draining, etc. I want to root because I want to tweak network settings which is not possible with non rooted mode as SQL is not accessable. Sorry i was not able to provide whole info but I truly don't use blogs or social sites so I lack the idea.

Tell me one thing!
When you tried to root your phone with kingo root tool, did you activated USB Debugging option from developer section ?
If not, activate this option from developer option and try again.
To activate this option you must go to : Settings/About phone/Device information/Build number and press fast many times on it till developer tab is activated.
Go to Settings/Developer options and activate the option from there.
Write here what is going on.

you are right the root for this device is not avialable by kingoroot.they r actually working on it , may be in future we will get it.
There is a bootloader lock on the phone. Applications is useless. The bootloader must first be unlocked, or root application must be installed on the rom. The best solution for you is to unlock the bootloader lock and install twrp. Please see the following page:

Well I can only say that with my rom 288 the process was If you have already unlocked bootloader is using QFIL and selecting rawprogram_twrp.xml put supersu zip on your sd card boot into twrp recovery and install supersu zip.

It probably works with the qfil file of your same rom. You need to add and flash bootloader files into the same rom(data can be deleted). ROM version is not important for the bootloader file. If the process is successful, you can install twrp and supersu.zip

Hi guys
I do have an unusual situation here. Got a Honor View 20 Test device (or presample) directly from a Honor guy. I'm really happy about it as the bootloader is already unlocked. Okay, I honestly don't know what's the plus about it as I can't find a TWRP for this one.
Anyway, my main issue is the installed test ROM:
It shows:
Model: VNA-L29
EMUI Version 8.1
Android Version 8.0
Internal Memory 32GB
RAM 4GB
Using DevCheck System Info App it shows the truth:
Android Version 9.0
Internal Memory 128GB
RAM 6GB
There are some testing apps on it which I can't uninstall. One of them locks the phone after some days if I'm logging in. I have to do a hard reset to make it work again.
Updating the ROM in Recovery doesn't work. Uninstalling the app doesn't work. I'm thinking about trying to update to an official ROM thru DLOAD or HiSuite but this would lock the bootloader I guess - if it's even possible. So if I would be able to install TWRP and an official ROM to use with TWRP I should be able to update it.
Any idea? Every help is appreciated! Thank you!
---------------------
Update: I took the risk and just flashed the actual ROM 238 from androidhost.ru thru DLOAD. Phone works like charm and device still has an unlocked bootloader.
Thanks!

I got this one for free so I wanna make the best out of it.
Huawei/Honor devices cannot be unlocked. So there is no active community with CFW developements so there is no point whatsoever of going in to shady sites and trying to 'unlock' your device bootloader.
You can try to update with download method(as it is the only way) If you brick the phone just recycle it and be done with it. There is not many options.

Thanks for your feedback. As I wrote at the end of my first post I updated with the regular firmware. Everything works smooth and the bootloader is still unlocked.
I'll try this at the weekend with the manual I found on XDA. There are CFW for a lot of Honor and Huawei devices but the firmware is quite old so I'll not even try .

Maybe it's just fake

Why would you say that when it is clearly possible? My Honor View 20 is unlocked and has Magisk running on it. There are other people with an unlocked bootloader, just look at the "Root Guide" Thread.
The problem is getting the unlock code. As far as i know there are no trustworthy providers at the moment so please be carfeful!

Because there is no official way to unlock phones bootloader(you cannot get unlock code, at least officially) If you are willing to give your personal info in shady sites, that is your own risk and fault if your IMEI get's in to wrong hands....
So basicly im guessing there is 90% locked vs 10% unlocked Huawei/Honor phones in the world. :good: Congrats if you are 'geek' enough and went true the shady process to get in those 10%. BUT there is no active developements of CFW. Yes there is some but they are unstable...
Oh yeah and official security apps(like banking, to pay with nfc) for security reasons check phones bootloader and if it is rooted/unlocked then you cannot start them. I dont know if it is worth the trouble anymore to bang on your chest and root your android just because of ''freedom''....
Again, it IS possible, thats what i'm saying. Nothing more, nothing less. So if you say 'its is not possible to unlock bootloader' then thats just plain wrong. Everyone should be able to make an informed decision for themselves, we're not children anymore. I definitely agree that you shouldn't give your data to some shady site.
In addition, i'm not sure what unlocking and rooting yout phone has to do with 'banging on your chest'.
Although the advantages may be minor nowadays, they are still there. The banking apps (i'm using) work just fine. If you are used to rooting your phone then its hard to accept all the restrictions
Regards
Previously ive rooted all my androids aswell. But ive stopped on my last main device(4years ago) because when you have full official support, whats the point? The hustle of manually flashing weekly because of updates and bug fixes... Meehh. Its not 2010 anymore when it was 'cool' to have a rooted phone(thats why the chest expression. )
If the device is like 3years old and dosent have update support anymore from the manufacturer
then it is a different story. Then you can flash newer custom android version and play with the device more to extend phone pocket life.
Ehmm i guess it is in country's security law or something. Because here where i live none of the banking apps work if you have rooted phone, when you open it just sayes that security check failed and error code(that you have a rooted phone)
neither lot of cupon apps where there is your sensitive info. ???Even mcdonalds app dosent let to use cupons on my rooted phone.
I have older rooted android to play on in my spare time. ?
Think we're on the same page anyway, right?
Guess i am lucky that i have rooted phone with apps and updates working. Though, i have to mention this again, i'm not sure what that has to do with being cool. Ppl are not bragging about it (at least no one i know ever has), its just that i like to have as many customization options as possible. Coming from a Xiaomi device i felt pretty restricted at the beginning
Doesn't matter, have a nice day!

Hello, I am looking for firmware version 5.3.6.4 and cannot find it anywhere.
I have searched this forum, freaktab, 4pda and Hong Kong to Australia and back again..... Twice
Would be really great if someone may have. Bin file of this version stashed away on a drive or cloud somewhere (wishful thinking maybe lol).
Thank for your time reading my post.
Regards
Edit ### I managed to get back to factory version of 5.3.2.1 February 2016 Software version by using Rortiz2 Unbrick Giza Method here :
[UNBRICK]Fire HD8 2016 (giza)
This guide is only for the Fire HD8 2016 (codenamed giza.) This will not unlock your tablet, it will clear RPMB and flash original LK,TZ & preloader for restore it from ANTI-ROLLBACK. I am not responsable of any physical damage in your tablet...
forum.xda-developers.com
Although it appears to be daunting (opening the device) it is really easy to do.. Just be gentle is key.
Note to future bricks/Root seekers, anyone wishing to return to a rootable version of firmware can do this method to at least obtain root using @Diplomatics temporary root for a #shell and then obtain bootstrapped supersu
im also try o root this devies like your os
but im dont do i

i got it working . i think you can brick i t and then do what i done in post above if you are on a unrootable version . i was on rooted 5.3.6.4 and deleted too much from priv-app system folder resulting in a brick . then flashed a totally wrong firmware on top of that lol
i unbricked it using the unbrick giza firehd 8 2016 method by Roger and that put me back to factory 5.3.2.1
worth a shot if you have same device, youl have to open your device up and short a resistor , then you can exploit with mtk-su for a temporary shell, then push su files and obtain bootstrapped Supersu binary which results in a more permanent root.
@789mod don't ever pm me again, you want to talk to me and call me out on pm??? If you'd posted your problem in civil manner I would have helped. Fool!
