I recently bought a new realme x2 phone from china to the UK. After using it I have come up with some issues regarding it being rooted. I only came across this as I have been locked out my snapchat account from using 3rd party apps (which I have not installed) and the fact I can't use google pay. This led me to do research however I am not definitely sure it is rooted or not, as certain root checkers say it is not but it has the characteristics. I also cannot use apps to unroot it so I'm not sure if it's partially rooted or not. Also I think the reason it's rooted in the first place is because the original realme x2 is not optimised for the UK and google play so something was done to add this to the phone. When I boot the phone into recovery mode it comes up with the below message which states it's rooted. If anyone could help me sort this out/unroot it as I can just download google play separately I believe? Any help is much appreciated as I don't want to send the phone all the way back to China:/

Hello! I have serious problem rooting Samsung W999. This is a kind of special device with dual screen, dual sim (and the rest such as CPU ram are the same as Galaxy S II) running 2.3.6. There is not much information for it.
I tried with Superoneclick 2.3.3 it failed, I also tried some others such as unlockroot, kingroot, gingerbreak etc. but non of them is working.
I wanted to try odin to flash the kernel but since there is no ROM avaliable online and I'm in the UK (The only way to fix it is in China, as it's only avaliable for China Telecom), I can't do anything if I bricked it.
Is there any better method for it? Thanks!!
I'm missing the Google Mobile Service, as google shop is not avaliable in China. That's the most annoying thing now. Although I can install the service framework and play shop, since they are not system app I can not download.
I need to put the apk into system/app
Is it possible to flash the files via odin? As the recovery mode is blocked.
Now the ROM has been updated to fc16. Maybe I will try to use recovery, but can't find which cmwrecovery is suitable for W999......
Hi
Did you manage to install app market or to root the device?
Hi there
have had my P8000 for a day now and just installed my barclays banking app which i often use only to see that the phone is rooted
I'm not really bothered about having root access if i'm honest just would like my banking app to work. Does anyone know how to remove root access from this phone this is how it was shipped to me from Geekbuying
Right it would appear that my phone is not rooted using various tools to check but the barclays banking app still says it is
it might just be that the Barclays app doesn't like your Chinese hardware/software but if you really want you can try to reflash the stock rom which is now available from elephone. there are two versions, 20150719 & 20150725 I believe from here:-
http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-6343-1-1.html#.VczX6xHbKbg
just d/l the original one then you can always update via the phone if you want the newer firmware...
Did you ever solve this? I bought the phone as it has dual Sims and I didn't want to carry around 2 phones! Without being able to use the Barclays app, I'm having to carry my old phone anyway. Any help would be appreciated

Any idea of auxus prime p8000 how to root & flash the custom recovery...?
I've been having the same issue and here's my findings.
If you try stock rom (whatever version), Barclays apps will never work despite Root Checker says it's not rooted.
However, in another thread, I was pointed to an app called Simply Unroot and I tried it and initially it did not work.
The dev of Simply Unroot spent hours trying to figure out why Barclays app thought it was rooted but eventually, he suggested I try the FlyMe ROM.
So I put on Philz recovery, put on FlyMe, I used Simply Unroot to unroot it (since it's full-on rooted initially) and WHAM, after a reboot, the Barclays apps work fine.
I don't have enough knowledge to say why FlyMe/Philz is ok.
I don't know if it's the ROM/Recovery combo that fixes it.
I did try stock and Eragon with Philz and the Barclays apps don't work on there.
Either way, Simply Unroot app/service is fantastic.
It's a shame it's the FlyMe ROM that works since it's not very good.
Does anyone know WHY Stock ROM is seen as Rooted by Barclays whereas FlyMe is not?
I'd much rather use Stock ROM since it has the fingerprint scanner (and English UK setting....)
Stock ROM is 'pre-rooted', at least the last two or three versions have been. They just require SuperSU to get app control - hence a few posts saying they rooted the phone by simply installing SuperSu (which it doesn't).
So it would seem that FlyMe whilst based on stock ROM doesn't have this - a good option to have. Perhaps some of it is based on the earlier 'un-rooted' stock ROMs?

The FlyMe ROM is based on the ROM for another phone altogether... er.. Meizu was it? That's why it doesn't have any ability to use the fingerprint scanner.
It's just really annoying though... banking apps aren't the only apps that have this kind of over-zealous check... there are other enterprise apps that have it.
I don't understand why the stock ROM can't be made so it is 'fully' unrooted yet have it easy to root later on.
£130 for a phone that is super fast and does everything flagships can do but I can't use it/recommend it since it can't run apps that most people consider necessary.
:crying:
Recently, I decided to update my rooted tab to the newest firmware, through an application on my Windows PC. After updating, I noticed that Netflix now refuses to work despite the fact I had it working on my previously rooted device. Is there any way to be able to actually get it up and running again?
Have you tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it?

I just tried that, and as I expected, still met with the same message.
On a rooted device I had before this one, I couldn't get Netflix to work. I went to their site and even made a phone call to find out there is an apk file for rooted devices buried on their site. Seems like I may have had to try a few of them to get one to work. This was probably 3-4 years ago.
Oh, and I had to explain to the guy what "rooted" means and why I wanted to do that!
Netflix is broke. Nobody has fixed it.
Hi,
Netflix has confirmed to Android Police that since version 5.0, released mid-May, the application relies entirely on Google's Widevine DRM. But it only works if Android is intact.
In practice, the availability of the application depends on the eligibility of your smartphone to SafetyNet, and therefore to Android Pay. So an unlocked smartphone no longer has access to Netflix on the Play Store, even if it meets the requirements of Widevin DRM
But no matter: the application itself always works on smartphones rooted and unlocked, at least for the moment.
If it is already installed, you can continue to enjoy it without doing anything. If it is not, simply install it manually, after downloading the APK from APKMirror

I used to be more active on these forums before I got my oneplus 5T and one of the biggest reasons was I wanted a clean fast OS without all the bloatware that many other manufacturers put on their phones. I tried a search but I did not find what I was looking for, so I apologize in advance if this is already covered in another thread.
Anyway, I picked up a 5T about a year ago while visiting family in Europe. (I'm the 2nd owner to the phone) I never bothered to install TWRP or anything else bcs the phone was running really well with stock. All OTA updates have been installing whenever they were released.
Now to my question. While trying to install workspace one app from playstore (my company requires it) the app won't install bcs it claims my phone is rooted. That is the only app that I have ever had any issues with.
I ran root check witch states "sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device"
How do I unroot my phone if it's really rooted? Or lock the bootloader? maybe that's the same? TWRP is not installed, when I boot into recovery I get into oneplus stock recovery software.
Hi, unfortunately I can't tell you right off if your phone is rooted. If root checker is saying no, then maybe you aren't, but still check if you have magisk or some other root solution app installed. When you got it from someone, they also could have flashed ROMs etc and when they returned it to stock for resale, they night have missed something like relocking bootloader, even if they did re install stock recovery. If I were in your shoes though, I would reboot to bootloader and check if it's unlocked or not. If it is, it's a simple "fastboot oem lock" from terminal. If that's not the case or solution, I dunno what to say. One thing that I would do if I were desparate is to try to take a backup of all the music/pics/texts/whatever other essential bits of data. Then I would reinstall stock recovery, as well as the latest official (not beta) Oxygen OS from oneplus's page. You can find it under the support tab and then software upgrade, then choose the device. Not only that but maybe completely nuke it, as in format, wipe, etc. And lock the bootloader and also let it get encrypted and stuff.. in other words, restore to as stock as possible. Then once you are done you can test. If this fails and bricks, there's a unbrick guide somewhere here for our phone, and also the backup is there for you. If you successfully restore to stock and this does not work, then maybe it is just the app that has a problem with not super stock Android (OOS). I must warn you that this process is risky and I am in no way gonna be responsible for lost data, because I did say make a backup and also it is up to you to do this. I hope this helps a bit, and if you aren't super familiar with the process it may take a while, around an hour if you do not run into any hitches and your download speed is good enough.
I bought galaxy watch and I own a rooted xiaomi mi 9.
Samsung pay on my smartphone says I cant use it because its rooted, even if im using magisk hide and safety net is passing. I can even use google pay, everything works but samsung pay!
Can you help me?
Looks like ive resolved it..i renamed magisk with random name, deleted every reference innfile system (every folder named twrp/magisk ecc), then it started working
As I know with rooted smartphone don't working pay service. I guess reason is security. If you found a way to get this service with rooted smartphone - lucky you. But even banks as I know stopping to work if detecting that smartphone is rooted. Anyway I can't understand why need these days to root smartphone even with not stability OS which is not official and only creator know will be any new version of it or not. Smartphones these days have a lot of memory is powerful and most apps they letting to delete or hide it. Why need to modify original stock ROM? For problems with service, because like this one stopping to work and need to find way to get it again. I just can't understand.
